Me when I see the outrage of J. Alphonse Nicholson playing a gay character in P Valley: “He’s just acting. It’s art. Leave that man alone. He’s a great actor.”
Me when I see Jonathan Majors playing a gay character in When we Rise:
Lol I had to clutch my pearls. I was NOT ready to see my husband from a past life kissing another man. it’s hilarious because I knew what the show was about but damn. I remember reading a interview that Majors did along with other actors. I believe it was a round table discussion. The show was brought up and he spoke about his mom not being okay with it and he had to explain it to her. He said she watched it and was like “okay” and enjoyed it. But i’m curious if he was being truthful or not because I almost had a heart attack (not because Im homophobic or anything. It was just hard watching my husband from a past life make out with a man, who btw was the love of his life lol). And if I almost had a heart attack I can’t imagine what his Preacher mother felt lol.
The show was really good though and Majors was of course a beast. He’s really great in everything he does and I’m looking forward to his future projects.

I recall saying this before, but it bears repeating:
There could be a billion trans people in the world and it still wouldn't be a bad thing because being trans is not a bad thing. Even if the rate of people discovering they are trans is "disproportionate" to trends from decades ago, that is not a bad thing. In fact, it's a natural consequence for there being more trans people being able to stay alive, and, overall, being able to live in a slightly more tolerant world. You'd only see that as a bad thing if you actively didn't want trans people to either live or live a life that facilitates wellness.

So I’ve been thinking about the boys combining their powers recently and I ended up really wondering about what would happen if a supercharged Mikey (time/dimensional powers) mixed his abilities with a supercharged Leo’s (space powers) and all I could think of was:

(good future) Finding Home Pride edition <3
Trans Leo pride is something I see a lot, but personally, FH Leo wouldn't celebrate his gender. He grew up around Gali, who went through a lot of gender struggles, especially in his younger years, and with the brothers being so accepting, it's just another part of his life
But his lack of romantic attraction? That's something that stands out to him. He sees the brothers with their own attractions and crushes and such and realizes he stands out. He's different. But that's okay because he's still him and he's still valid
anyways~ it's pride month, which means i get to be even more annoying about aro pride ^-^

An encompassing story of the struggle for gay rights over 8 hours. An outstanding cast, Gus Van Sant directing some episodes and producing, written by Dustin Lance Black, this had quality stamped all the way through it. It told a massive story and showed the huge progress made through 50 years and the awful toll of tragedy and loss on a community. It did feel a tad humorless and dull over the full stretch and the need for characters to be recast midway left you feeling like a whole new group of characters needed to find their place. The speed of action and desire to include everyone also made for too many swift entries and exits meaning some of the more moving passages lost their emotional heft. A valiant effort but a flawed one, in my very humble view.

I’ve seen a bunch of theories about the snow witch that hinge on the assumption that her name is Renna, but what if Renna was never actually supposed to be her name?
what we know about the snow witch, or snowy crone, is that she was a weird old lady in the woods who taught the young Ranni heretical cold sorcery, and wore the pointed hat and robe Ranni wears now. Ranni’s doll body is said to be “modeled after” her… but it cannot be a perfect 1:1 impersonation of her, because Ranni doesn’t look like a “crone” at all!
Rather than an attempt to fully impersonate the snow witch, I think Ranni’s doll body is more of an homage to her old mentor. and with that in mind, I think that the name “Renna” might also be an homage to perhaps the most important mentor in Ranni’s life — her mother.
I think it’s very fitting for Ranni to use her new persona as a way of maintaining her connection to her teachers after she slew her physical body and abandoned her previous life. though Ranni is accused of being cold and unfeeling, she’s actually very sentimental — her co-conspirators are her closest childhood companions, her base of operations her childhood home. she still loves her mother and defends both her body and her legacy. she died wearing her mother’s talisman. wouldn’t it be sweet if she chose to call herself Renna out of love for Rennala?
