where do you get your art inspo from? As in the art style :3

yk this is kind of a question i've been dreading! because a lot of people can answer definitively - they'll give names, urls, blogs.

but uh.. I really don't know? I mean there were some deviantart blogs in elementary/middle school that inspired me then, but since? I couldn't say! My style has evolved from me doing my own thing, I suppose. I'd take little bits from other people's tutorials/advice and then stitch it into my own Frankenstein's Style.

#i also in a way took insp from myself?#bc for a while i had two styles - realistic and simplistic #and then at some point i wondered if i could combine them. and i did!#and That has become what you all see today!#rambles from the bog #i might be able to give an answer in a few years! who's to say!#i'm trying to Improve more constructively and that means studying other people's art #recently i've followed some artists who's art i greatly enjoy so that i can maybe Understand how to draw in such a way #- not as in draw like their style!#but to be able to choose colors & lay out composition and such #the technical aspects!#so that i can then apply that to my own style and like. Improve lmao #because admittedly my style is rather... bland. i look at my art and #sure there are Some that are genuinely creative and interesting but most of it is just.... meh?#it's not something i would stop and gawk at!#and i want to be able to great something that makes people stop and go 'Whoah' under their breath! you understand!#i want to create elaborate backgrounds! combine interesting colors! Hello, do you think is possible that we will get a FITF live album? Louis and the band sound so good on tour.

they doooo! I love Steve's arrangements and additions to the songs so much! Honestly I have no idea; on the one hand it seems like Louis might be more focused on moving towards new stuff, like we are still in FITF mode but by the time it came out he had had it forever and now he's well into LT3 and probably feeling more excited about those new songs and sounds; on the other hand he is very good at working the industry stuff and all the angles and it's basically free money, right? He has said FITF was a further step towards the sound he wants most rather than the finish line, so it's possible that as happened with Walls as he works more on the new one he is getting less enthused about sharing the old stuff; but I think adding Steve's arrangements and just moving away from some of the songs seems to have lessened that this time around, so maybe that isn't a factor. Here's the thing though: the only way it would happen or make sense I think would be if it was recorded pretty recently, like one of the UK shows; the show was still being tweaked and gelled and cooking until then. But if they wanted to make vinyl (and surely they would? fancy double vinyl of live albums is SUCH a thing), that is very very long process of waiting around these days. First you have to get lacquers made (this is the physical thing that the recording is cut into that all the records are duplicates of- if you want quality it has to be more or less handmade by an artisan) but one of the two places left in the world that made those burnt to the ground in 2020 so there's a super long wait time on that. Then it just has to get made; but there are basically ten large scale factories left (again, in the WORLD) that press records so that also has a very long wait time... so it would take forever and the thing is I think we're getting LT3 in the late fall/ early winter (I bet he's using this month to finish it up so it can begin this lengthy process). So I kind of don't think so, like I guess they could do a CD/ cassette/ digital only in late spring and make so much money, and it would be fun, but who knows. Either way, I just hope Louis has Steve do some production work on LT3, I like his sounds and ideas a lot, and that he keeps him around to do his tours forever!

#could I have just said it takes a while to make records I GUESS #but maybe people are interested!#IN MY DAY *totters up on a creaky walker* you could just be like I wanna make a record of my band #and send off $500 and a mastered recording and 6 weeks later get a couple boxes of 7's in the mail #SIGHHHH #this planning a year in advance is such a bummer I bet Louis would much rather get to write the songs and share them #and by a year later be onto whole new ones #it's no wonder he doesn't remember the lyrics by the time it's time to tour them he's ages past those ones #fitf live #vinyl pressing #steve durham #is the drummer but also the tour musical director #I've always had an embarrassing thing for drummers and I genuinely do not have a thing for steve because I am past that tyvm #but every time I rave about him I do side eye myself like is this correct or are you just in drummer groupie mode #anyway he looks just like- I kid you not- a drummer I have uh #what #had a Thing With let us say #once upon a time #but honestly I really do just like his arrangements musically I think he seems kind of annoying personally #and that tattoo artist was his friend and that guy seemed like a DOUCHE which made me even more skeptical #anyway enjoy the personal TMI corner GOTTA GO BYE

#aye. in another life i would have loved to be an illustrator #i dont like to do digital tho and i dont wanna b a starving artist and i like science too much #but it would make me so hsppy if i was allowed to draw all day everyday #forever and ever drawing #but nooo i wanted to get a phd in microbial evolution. and im procrastinating working on my preproposal #literally doing anything to not work on it. i coulf have been a illustrator. an endocrinologist. a neurobiologist. a paleontologist. but i #chose microbial ecologist then thought no fuck ecology and went for photosynthetic mechanisms #bc i do love my lil cyanos and i do love Microbiology. i love those underapprecated lil guys #the world is so big and beautiful and all i wanna do is understand. but my stupid brain doesnt work right and ive burried my wonder for so #long i wonder if ill ever have it back. i was reading a bunch of lil notes i wrote this semester and i go from #everything is so beautiful i cant stand it. there are angels in the sunbeams and they feel like healing. to im the world around me is #warping beyond my control. i cant feel any joy. my head is sending me terrible ideas but im not even scared. it feels inevitable #but last week i was so full of energy i couldnt sleep. nothing changed but the chemicals in my head #hopefully next semester will b better and i can stop feeling like damaged goods and feel bad fro my advisor #for having to deal with me. hes v nice and has a bip0lar brother so he's sympathetic but i wish he didn't have to b #i want to stop fantasizing about being something else and just focus on being better at what i am #but im such a pathological perfectionist that its so difficult to make any progress. but whatever ive been feeling alright for the #past week or so. hopefully that carries through. and maybe somedsy i can illustrate something for my precious baby cyanobacteria #unrelated

pokemon’s my childhood, and drawing the little gremlin children skittering through the unovan landscape having FUN is a personal project that i can only really continue BECAUSE people like you cheer me on or share their thoughts. Im glad other people see pokemon as a world worth exploring. Im glad we have this shared whimsy of a world touched by kindness and filled with compassion.
