One of the many things I don't want for the end of the show is for Red to end up with Weecha in a romantic way. That isn't a story that has been told in any way that is satisfying or even logical at this point. I can't get behind it just being dropped out of the blue. I don't even properly know who Weecha is as a character, much less who she is with Red.
So it makes me nervous that she doesn't seem to be in episodes 17 or 18. That gives only four episodes left, and we know there's going to be at least one more kissing scene between them. This feels an awful lot like they may be shoving these two characters together at the very end, with no rhyme or reason. I so very much hope not. I'd rather him not be in any romance at all than in one that is so poorly contrived.

I like the fact that Red doesn’t even have to move. All he does is watch.

Red: Cute as a button, isn’t she? You should see what she does with a chicken. Wrings it, bleeds it, and plucks it before it ever knows it was dead.
Presenting custom Funko Pop of Weecha Xiu of the Blacklist.
I admit I held deep resentment against this character when she first appeared. How dare she take Dembe's place? But she has grown on me. She has not only loyalty for Red, but also compassion for him, telling Cooper it would be cruel to keep Red away from Agnes. She was concerned for Morgan, and seemingly upset when she learned that he didn't make it. And she is undeniably bad-ass.
She's still quite the mystery, as we have no real idea of how that relationship came to be or even how to define that relationship. If we're not having Dembe back at Red's side, then I do hope we can continue to have Weecha there, despite my feeling very much the opposite about her sister.
Below are the two funkos I used to make her.

His Protector
Tumblr media
[ Grief-stricken Red. Twisted relationships. Hints of implied incest? Just another day of The Blacklist Fandom. AO3 link here. ]
Mierce. His savior. His light. His ray of sunshine in the dark, the only reason he hadn’t swallowed his gun and let the darkness finally engulf him.
She had filled a gaping hole that Elizabeth’s death left inside him. Her and Weecha.
And now she was gone too, and the darkness was starting to wrap it’s tentacles around him again. He could feel himself being pulled backwards into that black hole.
But he still has Weecha. His Weecha. Mierce might have been the protector of his soul, but Weecha was the protector of his body.
His body needed her tonight more than ever. He needed her to anchor him in the light. Her body pressed against his would act as a shield for the darkness.
And like the good body guard she was, she willingly gave herself up to him. Whatever he needed, she would give him. After all, it was her job to protect him, even from his own thoughts.
That night he buried his sorrows in Weecha.
He buried his lips in her neck. Kissing and biting at the flesh, desperate for something that he couldn’t quite place. He ran his tongue and lips over every inch of sweet flesh he could find. Her mouth engulfed her breasts, and suckled them until the flesh was peppered with red and purple marks. He sunk his teeth into the skin of her hip and then soothed the flesh with soft, slow stokes of his tongue. Each movement, a silent prayer for her for to make him whole again. His body begged for the sadness and grief that weighed him down to be taken from him, at least for a while. He just needed a reprieve.
His buried his fingers between her moist folds, savoring the way her searing flesh engulfed him as he pressed him inside of her. With practiced motions, he pulled a soft moan of pleasure from her mouth. Weecha never was big on words.
He buried his head between Weecha’s thighs. His tongue lapping at her like she was his last meal until she was breathless, and her thighs trembled around his head. He didn’t stop, even as his jaw ached and the tears of grief flowed down his face, mixing with her wetness.
He buried his cock inside of her. Over and over again. Weecha’s lean, hardened body quaking under his. Her hands wrapped around his neck protectively as he desperately tried to thrust away the all-consuming sadness inside him.
Over and over.
Until he was spent and broken all over again.
He spilled tears for all the souls he’s loved and lost along the way into her breasts as Weecha silently caressed his head.
He shouldn’t have come back.

Febressuary ~ fanfic prompt ~ “Nice Jeans” / Ressler’s “Heart” Week
(NB: this super mini fic may not be for everyone, but all I’m going to say is that it is no worse than what the show has already subjected us to. Anyways, proceed with caution as you would, but don’t worry about anything worse than what you’ve already seen.)
Between Sleep and Awake
First, a deafening blow that struck with such force, he couldn’t tell where he had been hit. But looking down, he watched as a crimson blotch spread over his heart with the chaotic grace of a carnation in full bloom.
Vaguely, a succession of loud noises registered, muffled as if he was in a fish bowl. Voices became clearer as they approached, “Agent Zuma, Agent Ressler, I specifically told Harold not to let you or anyone in the Task Force follow me here..” A second voice said, “Rehmond, you cahn’t stay here. Weecha, get him out of here, NOW!”
Amidst the blur that permeated his vision, Red’s face came into focus, his eyes full of concern when they took in the bouquet blooming on his chest. His tone became softer, “Donald, don’t take this the wrong way, but I don’t relish the idea of being in your debt in perpetuity…”
Suddenly, what had seemed like water all around him drained away instantly and his surroundings came into crystalline focus. The quiet street they had been surveilling gave the misleading impression that it would lead straight to a bridge that towered majestically in the distance, but they were actually far below and away from any significant traffic. Everything had been perfectly still at 4am, when they had arrived, and now, following that brief but explosive skirmish, the street was perfectly still once again. The violent perpetrators lay dead, and Ressler could now clearly see Weecha and Dembe, standing together in quiet tolerance of each other, looking on as Red bent over him.
High above, a ribbon of speckled sky had managed not to get totally crowded out by the tall row houses and mature trees lining the narrow street. The stars sparkled with unusual brightness and one seemed to drift gracefully down toward where the bridge stood and disappeared behind it’s stone arches.
Red was speaking in hushed tones to Dembe and Weecha, when suddenly a silver light all but obscured the bridge and stretched it’s rays to exactly where Ressler lay on the pavement. A luminous figure approached. She stretched out her hand in invitation and Ressler joined her with a warm hug. When they pulled apart Liz smiled up at Ressler and smirked, looking him up and down, “Nice Jeans.”
Ressler chuckled, marking the approval in her eyes, and replied, “You know they’re my favourite, rips and all.”
Liz dropped her gaze, blushing a little and biting her lip, “I never had a chance to tell you, but… they’re my favourite too.”
Ressler’s eyes saddened a little and a couple of pearly tears formed, “I figured we could make up for all those lazy Saturdays we missed out on.” Then it was his turn to look her up and down, saying, “I guess you had the same idea.”
Liz smiled her widest, dimpled smile, which he had loved since the day he had met her, and said, “Where I came from it’s all lazy Saturdays. With no consequences.” She added, a hint of humour playing about her eyes.
They both laughed lightly, neither able to hold back the tears now as they pulled each other close again. Liz rested her palm on Ressler’s cheek and he cupped her head, stroking her hair and letting it run through his fingers. They were speechless for a little while, their intense feelings overwhelming their ability to form coherent thoughts. So they stood their gazing into each other’s face, each drinking in the sight of the other.
Finally, with raw emotion, Ressler managed to utter, “I missed you.” Liz, her face streaked silver with her tears, replied, “I didn’t want this for you. But now, I’m just glad you’re here.” And then their lips met as they melted into each other in a profound kiss, the deep well of their mutual love finally flowing freely between them. Even when the kiss ended, they resisted letting each other go, showering a myriad of tiny kisses, peppered liberally, over their faces, as they gradually grasped the utter joy of finally having this moment together.
By now Red, Weecha and Dembe were deliberating over how best to handle the injured Ressler and the cleanup, and when Red turned around, he bent down, over Ressler’s limp form, “Donald!” He cried in a hushed tone. “Donald!” Dembe approached Red, gently placing a hand on his shoulder, “Rehmond, he’s gone.” Red bowed his head in grief.
Liz and Ressler had turned their heads at the sound of the alarm in Red’s voice, and now they looked on with pity. Liz, shaking off the somber scene, linked her arm with Ressler’s, and said cheerfully, tossing her head in the direction of the light, “Come on. I’ll show you around.”
Ressler’s mood easily rose to meet Liz’s and, without a second look back, he fell in step beside her, curling his arm affectionately around her neck and pulling her in for a loving kiss on the side of her head. Liz shifted her arm to wrap snuggly around him, and they walked together like that, arm in arm, disappearing into the light.
FIN
{Some other renderings of the original sketch, which incidentally, I first shared in this Tweet, where, if you are so inclined, you will see the original inspiration for the drawing. Of course when I saw the prompt “nice jeans”, my muse just went, oh yeah let’s do this. But it also works for Ressler’s “Heart” Week 😭 }

{Another little edit I made for my Tumblr cover page, so I guess I was already kind of formulating this story in my head weeks before I found an opportunity to write it. Actually, I think how the gif turned out made me think of Liz and Ressler being in heaven together. My headcanon is that Liz IS alone, bc Tom went to hell 🤷‍♀️ Anyways, as shitty as losing Liz was for our Keenler hearts, at least we got 9.07.}
Tumblr media
~ Thanks for reading. I hope I didn’t ruin anyone’s day with this story. It’s an AU. I’m sure Ressler ain’t goin anywhere the show won’t go…

Thoughts on 10.21 and 10.22, no spoilers.
So I'm going to make comments as I go during some of the commercials, but I'm not going to post them until afterwards, so this is as much a live reaction as a review. Each paragraph is recorded at a different commercial.
The first half hour we've seen before. It's fun, but very familiar. It feels like a bit of a waste in the final episode. The only benefit is learning how the task force is conflicted about things. We only got a tiny glimpse of Reddington's heart, which I've come to realize is what I truly love about the show and what I truly want from it.
I am disappointed in Dembe. I always had a particular idea of why Dembe joined the fbi, and that was to change tactics in his quest to save Reddington's soul. And in season 8 he heard Reddington tell Cooper how much this task force had changed him. Then Elizabeth died. I always felt that Denbe joined the task force to try and connect Red to the force that was the most positive on him.
Weecha continues to be a nothing burger. I get nothing from her about how she and Red connect romantically. There's just nothing there.
At the end of the first hour I actually said out loud "oh, don't you dare." In everything that I imagined about this finale that possibility is not one that crossed my mind. Just, no.
Almost halfway through the second episode. So I was right, high action, intense episode with a twist I didn't see coming, as we often see in the season finale. And it's a very solid episode for the task force. We're getting a lot of character from them. And Herbie, good for you. That was the right call. Love that dude.
But what I'm missing is Red's heart. The core of the show, and I want something new from him. I want to see his heart laid bare.  His actions do speak to his heart when it comes to Dembe, but there needs to be more.
Oh boy. I guess that's it. The closest we're ever going to get to confirmation of Redarina. Not at all what I wanted. Up until I knew it was Redarina I really thought Red's identity didn't matter, but the transgender situation in the world right now really needs this.
And I'm genuinely worried now.  There is less than half an hour left.
Last commercial, less than 10 minutes left. I'm very scared. This has been undeniably beautiful for the last 15 minutes. Please, please, give me one of the things that I want.
Very proud of that final monologue, that was fantastic.
The final scene; No. That. Was. Stupid. Beautifully done, but I hate it. I reject your reality and substitute my own.

"I'm here because I wanted you to know that I could never work for a man like you. You're far too brutal."
Park is the perfect person to take Weecha’s place.. when you understand why Red chose her in the first place. They’ll play well off eachother.

Wadjet. Weecha. Witch.
Tumblr media
Much of the Yoruba language and traditions can be traced directly to Kemet. Aje (ah-JZAY) is a Yoruba term meaning witch. The Aje is an energy like Wadjet. The Aje are symbolized as birds, who lovingly, fiercely protect their witch queen Oshun. Anyone who offends Oshun mustanswer to the Aje, or witches. A little known Yoruba prophecy says that balance will not be restored on the planet until the Aje have risen to their rightful places once more.
Anglo-Saxons claim the word witch came from wicca. However, an early, older variant of theword in their language was wicce, pronounced "weecha." Wicce meant a wise woman/wiseman healer.
Wadjet. Weecha. Witch.
Also for the record, the Kemetic term for wise woman, "Rekhut, Rekhuit, Rekhit, Rekhat,"means "skilled in words, knowledge, and craft." The Mdw Ntr (or hieroglyphics) arecomprised of a mouth (Re), a placenta (kh sound like the "ch" in "chutzpah") and a bread loaf (t) indicating a female. The Rekhut was believed to have mastery of and work with the Uadjenergy. Rekhut was also a name for Ast (Isis), recognized and honored today as a witch because she represents the ultimate female magickal healer.
The pentagram is actually Sepdet, the star of Ast, held within a protective shen. Quiet as it's kept, there is also a prophecy that balance will not return to the planet until Ast's star rises to it's rightful place andshe is seated on her rightful throne once more. Variants of this prophecy are whispered intraditions throughout the world.
With this rich history and prophecy of hope based on the strength of witches, it is sorrowfulthat people have fearfully turned against the power source that will heal humanity.
Stand strong in our proud tradition.
We are the witches.
We have returned.
~Queen Mother Imakhu
