Detail of bilingual Persian-English marriage certificate. The central medallion reads — عشق بى چون و چرا — (‘eshq bee-choon o cheraa’). This phrase would translate into English as something like, ‘love without why or wherefore,’ i.e., unconditional love. Original hand painted floral geometric border design in the Persian miniature tradition and calligraphy in Persian (Farsi) and English by S J Thomas. R is for "Red"
For some reason this one didn't want to photograph well, so I've got one photo showing the shiny and one showing the colours and the details
The colour palette on this one took a lot of experimentation and I ended up having to mix most of my colours, but it was definitely worth it. Thank you to @morgan-is-here for suggesting this quote, without which I would still be putting this off
[ID: An illuminated letter R in the style of a Celtic manuscript. The letter is coloured in bright red, grey, turquoise, blue and green, with silver illumination. Panels within the letter contain drawings of rowan, stars, myrtle and bracken. The empty space of the letter is filled with Celtic motifs. The letter forms the beginning of a quote, the rest of which is in a simple bright red font. It reads "Red her cheeks as rowans are, Bright her eyes as any star, Fairest of them all by far Is our darling Màiri". /End ID]

I’m working on some pieces for a friend’s upcoming wedding—signs, table numbers, place cards, etc. Doing lettering with paint brushes is hard! 😫 I like how the table numbers turned out though.
