Why we're still not living in "Star Trek"
The way we now can interact with ChatGPT and Midjourney and all the other AIs strongly makes me think of "Star Trek". I mean, the people there are always like "Computer, give me a report on *whatevs*", "Computer, make a sketch of *so-and-so*".
And yet, we're not even remotely feeling like "Star Trek", are we? And I think that's because in "Star Trek" there's no such thing as capitalism. I can't remember any episode where it's stated clearly, but I always felt like everyone in the United Federation of Planets has unconditional basic income. And based on the discussions we are having now regarding AI art, I think that here might indeed be some important political decisions to make if we as a society wish to keep up with our technology.
Or so. I think I simply wish that some people in charge would watch more "Star Trek". And pay close attention.

Two conservative groups say San Francisco and the state of California are racist for illegally giving away millions in tax money to three non-profits that exclude recipients based on race and gender identity.
The American Civil Rights Project and the Californians for Equal Rights Foundation say the city and state violate the law by picking who gets federal money based on skin color.
The suit names three guaranteed-income programs.
The Black Economic Equity Movement hands out $500 a month exclusively to young, Black Bay Area residents.
SAN FRANCISCO MAYOR PUSHES ADDICTION SCREENING FOR WELFARE RECIPIENTS
Guaranteed Income for Trans-people pays $1,200 a month to Black, Indigenous and Latino recipients, provided they are also transgender.
The Abundant Birth Project gives out $1,000 a month solely to pregnant Black and Pacific Islander women.
"We are asking for these programs to be halted until they are no longer discriminatory," says lawyer Dan Morenoff of the American Civil Rights Project.
"Each of these three programs qualifies and disqualifies individuals from participation and benefits based on their race."
San Francisco established the Abundant Birth Project in 2020 through its department of health. It provides $1,000 to $1,500 a month, for roughly nine months, solely to "Black and Pacific Islander women in San Francisco." Other races are not eligible for this "unconditional" income. Its annual budget is $1.8 million, but new $5 million in grants expand the program to four additional counties.
Advocates say that Black and Pacific Islander women need the help because of higher rates of premature birth. "This risk is primarily due to racism, both structural racism and racism that birthing people experience when they interact with physicians and other medical providers," says Dr. Zea Malawa of the San Francisco Department of Public Health.
True or not, the lawsuit claims, it remains illegal to exclude White and Latino women, especially those with higher risks of complication.
In November last year, San Francisco launched another guaranteed income program.
"To participate you must be Black, between the ages of 18 and 24, and live in certain areas within Oakland or San Francisco," according to BEEM guidelines. Those applying as 'White' on-line are told they are 'not eligible'.
The GIFT project provides $1,200 a month for 18 months to "Transgender, Non Binary, Gender Non-Conforming and Intersex" individuals provided they are "Black, Indigenous or People of Color."  The program is run through the city's Office of Transgender Initiatives. Last week, the watchdog group Judicial Watch also sued San Francisco over the GIFT project.
The money in all three programs is provided with no strings attached, via a debit card replenished each month.
"Guaranteed Income is a temporary monthly payment made to people without any requirements or obligations," says BEEM. "It’s an approach to supporting people, so they have a little breathing room, can take care of immediate needs, and plan for the future."
Similarly, the GIFT project says, "the $1,200 stipend will be provided to participants so they may focus on their basic physical and mental health and wellness without worrying about income."
Fox News reached out to all three programs, but all declined an interview. Mayor London Breed's office said in a statement that the programs are legal and that it looks forward to addressing the charges in court.

Hummingbird (by Metro Boomin and James Blake) kind of sounds like a Funalec song (delusional)
(basically me OVERANALYSING a song about gw/n and mil/es from spderverse and spinning it into a silly Funalec song)
(I'm also censoring the names and all because I don't want this post to appear under the movie's hashtags. This means I won't clutter them with this long ass essay)
[ACROSS/INTO THE SPDERVERSE SPOILERS]
for context, since this song was written for the movie: from what I understand, it's about gwn's and mles' relationship; it also gets very literal bc this song is played when gwn opens the portal to mles' universe.
"In here, paper walls are
Pushin' back on you like
Eventually you push through
The moment that you realise"
So to briefly summarise the song, it's about wanting to feel connected to this girl whom the singer feels comforted by; "love is unconditional''. The singer feels full of life with them, and it goes on. From what I see it's about mles wanting to see people who understand him as much as his friends do. They're all spider-people, and they all long to be understood. It's a normal human thing to do.
But if we spin it Funalec style, I think it could work especially if we take this song from Alec's standpoint. We actually don't get a lot of Alec content in the canon but mc's fanfic did succhhhh a good job at developing his character; I talked about that in one of my posts (can't be bothered rn), but to summarise it: Alec, like Yumi, never got the love he deserved as a child and thus has to work through life without any of it. He doesn't get the purpose of love and decides that it isn't for him. It didn't work with his family, his friend, his first gf (winking at Emcee)… So why would it work, suddenly? Incoming Funneh banging at his door. Let's get to the actual song:
The song starts with a filtered version extract of the song "Tonight You Belong To Me" by Patience & Prudence. I headcanon Yumi to LOVE romantic songs from the 60s so this 100% works. I can imagine Yumi playing this silly song (/lh) all the time and Alec gets sick of it. Every time he hears it, the track reminds him of Yumi freaking out and getting angry over some random girl at 3AM. In Hummingbird the sample fades away, like it's flying over Alec's head. The sample could symbolize Yumi to him, which just means that he's slowly prioritizing what he wants (being with Funneh and his friends).
"Hummingbird, summer song"
Throughout the song, the singer calls this person a hummingbird, and relates this track to summer. I always found Funneh x Alec to have summer vibes since you kind of relate this season with happiness? It's also the period in which the sun is the most active; so nature gets a lot of energy from it to support life etc !! Also, hummingbirds symbolize (from what I've seen on the internet) in indigenous cultures a messenger of joy. So you could say that Funneh is Alec's hummingbird (?). And maybe Funneh represents summer to him?
"Has it brought my life back?
Hangin' in the balance
Have you brought the light back?"
Before Alec found his friends (Funneh, Kyran and Gold), his life consisted of getting a quick buck from our GENEROUS murderous neighbour Yumi, taking care of his sister and trying to stay afloat. But when he met them, they balanced out the good things and the bad things in his life ("Hangin' in the balance"). It made him actually enjoy things in life; wanting things, needing things, enjoying things... ("Have you brought the light back?")
"Pen pal on a night shift
She's who I get away with
Realising she might
Be all I need in this life"
You could say that... Funneh is his pen pal ig? THROUGH... TEXT? They don't meet very often in canon but they still hit it off every time.
"When I saw a cold snap
I wasn't with the season
Tag was on the ankle"
"When I saw a cold snap" Being without his friend just feels extremely cold and devoid of life (especially with Yumi). He isn't with the season (summer in this case) because he always has to get away from Funneh and his friends.
Also, to bring back the idea that he's prioritizing his needs over being Yumi's henchman, the cold snap could symbolize he needs to remind himself that he is still tied to Yumi.
"Tag was on the ankle"; Well this could mean 2 things.
1. an ankle tag is "an electronic device that is fastened around the ankle of a person who has committed a crime, so that the police know where that person is". This line could mean that he already know what his fate is.
The previous verse could also add another layer; his friends are truly the only place where he gets to be happy, because he knows that he already threw away his life and his future.
2. The tag on the ankle could just be a leash because he's deeply tied with Yumi. It also kind of fits bc the 2 previous lines are (imo) about his situation with Yumi and his life.
"And hummingbird
I know that's our time (That's our time)"
"I know that's our time" It sounds like he's about to leave? Like they're having a nice moment but he can't stay for too long. Flashback to the moments this mf had to leave his friends bc of Yumi (AKA THE OCEAN METAL CONCERT).
"But stay on
Stay on, stay on with me
And hummingbird
I can never unsee
What you've shown me
Stay on, stay on with me"
More pining. He wants Funneh to hold on to him, because he needs her in his life and she showed him so many things; what love means, what life has to offer, having wants, having needs...
Also, the chorus starts at "and humming bird..." to "stay on with me.". It is sung multiple times in the track; he loves her, but he can't stay for long. And this cycle happens SO many times.
"The moment when you realise
There's someone there that needs you
Lap band on the feelings
I tax them for no reason"
Imma be honest. I don't know what's up with the lap band and THE "taxing them" but I'm going to speculate anyway. A lap band is an inflatable silicone device placed around an area of the stomach to treat obesity by slowing down the consumption of food and thus the amount of food consumed. So if you're putting them on "feelings", it's to filter said emotions to slow down said sensations; which means you basically have a hard time processing your feelings to the point that you need a metaphorical device to nullify it? And then there's this line "The moment when you realise / There's someone there that needs you" with "I tax [the aforementioned feelings] for no reason". Alec is taxing these emotions; so he's feeling heavily burdened by these feelings to the point that he's demanding some kind of compensation. He is scared that Funneh (and his friends) need him. He is now important to them. He can't back down anymore; he can't leave, because it'll hurt them. ("The moment when you realise / There's someone there that needs you")
"I added love 'cause love is unconditional
I count on love, I count on love
'Cause love is unconditional within reason"
This line contradicts my ideas for the previous verse but whatever. I guess you could say he both finds these feelings burdening but he also cherishes it and finds it important. AND LAST THING!! Alec didn't get love, but now he does; he knows that love is unconditional within reason thanks to Funneh (and his friends but this is abt her). He counts on love, it sounds corny but it's truly what drives him to keep going in his life!
"Would I sign up again?
Would I sign up again?"
You could interpret these lines as Alec hesitating on whether or not he should continue hanging out with his friends again, since well... He can't back down anymore, since it'll hurt him and Funneh, Gold and Kyran as well. Also I love how the beat here sounds like irregular heart beats OR slowed-down flying hummingbird sounds (a fluttering heart and a bird fluttering their wings).
"And the night was so strong
Forget the time like life is long
Wings beating a thousand strong"
The last two lines really shows that time is very relative. Time feels fast when you're with loved ones, but in the moment, it feels slow. It's the juxtaposition of wanting to stay with someone forever and the wing flapping of a bird LMAO (hummingbirds flutter their wings 80 times per second).
"Would I sign up again?
Would I sign up again?
And the night was so strong
Forget the time like life is long
Wings beating a thousand strong"
So the singer (Alec... in this case?) sings this verse twice, like he is contemplating on his choices as he's spending time with his friends. For the 2nd time though, he sings this:
"Unconditional within reason"
This line calls back to the fact that he deems love to be unconditional. So this could mean that based on his choices, he decides to stay with her. With his friends. IG THIS IS THE GOOD ENDING LMAO IDK IF WE WOULD HAVE GOTTEN THAT IF YHS WAS STILL RUNNING BUT YK....
Anyways, this is all I have to say. Someone should teach me how to analyse an art piece without sounding like I've had a stroke writing it.
Overall, this song really captured Alec's character in my opinion; From being dragged by Yumi since age 12 or so, learning what love is and tip-toeing between running away from the things he loves and staying with his friends.

One system that tries to level the playing field by supporting network development for those who don’t — or can’t — start building these networks early enough is basic income. Sometimes we need to disrupt the power of a preferential attachment cycle, whether it’s to improve equity or just the flow of ideas, by increasing the number of people who can contribute. There is no one definition of basic income. In some definitions it is income distributed to everyone within a geographic region regardless of other income or assets. In other definitions it is given out on a scale that factors in other wealth. Sometimes it is presented as a taxable income; other times it is put forward as a tax-free benefit. Regardless of the particular definition, “the one fundamental defining characteristic of a basic income of any type is that it must be unconditional.” The recipient of a basic income does not have to do anything to justify the continued receipt of the income if they stay in the same geographical region. In this sense basic income is very different from welfare, which is a conditional income often dependent on job searches, ability to work, and neither owning nor accumulating any assets. It is subject to the discretion of caseworkers and thus is inherently unstable and subjective. One of the arguments for basic income, as presented by Philippe van Parijs and Yannick Vanderborght in their book on the subject, is that much of what we earn must be ascribed not to our efforts, but to externalities which owe nothing to them. Although we may tell ourselves that our success is solely the result of our efforts, a significant contributing factor is the number of connections we have. Some of these connections seem obvious, like family connections to jobs or educational connections to information. Others, though, many of us take for granted. If we think of the network we engage with in order to work, connections to dentists and other health services, to quality child care, or to landlords and banks for housing security, we can see that success means leveraging a large network composed of many nodes. Often the connection to a node is solely a matter of money. Education costs money, and so do dentists. It’s harder to get a job with minimal education, or poor dental hygiene, or a lack of reliable access to a shower. Basic income programs are usually designed to provide enough money to meet these core requirements in order for people to have the option of pursuing meaningful work or social contribution. We can think of people using basic income to increase their access to nodes in a network that will then accrue opportunities. [...] Parijs and Vanderborght are careful to note that a basic income does not aim to equalise outcomes. “Rather, it aims to make less unequal, and distribute more fairly, real freedom, possibilities, and opportunities.” Essentially, it aims to equalise the benefits of preferential attachment.

I want my country to make progress on implementing Universal Basic Income. Over half of Canadians are living paycheck-to-paycheck, including myself. With UBI, I could make more progress on health matters. I don't know how much a petition will change, but I'm tired of twiddling my thumbs on these matters and feeling like there's not much I can do cuz all my energy is shelled into work or health crap.
For better or for worse, we need money to survive in today's world. While I'm glad that I live in a country that has long given us the opportunity to earn money by working or education, it's become harder to get decent jobs, more expensive for better education, and both are starting to feel meaningless because they're just means to ends.

Consider the meaning of life.
We'll have to make some assumptions, some arbitrary value judgments. "Being alive is better than being dead" is a big one. We assume this simply because we are alive, a mortal-centered bias based on not much more than a flinching survival reflex. But we have to assume it because we have to assume something, because we just can't operate without caring about something. Without desires, without judgments, without bias, we have no volition. The body doesn't set itself in motion by thoughts alone. Caring about being alive is as simple as it gets, the lowest common denominator of the living.
It's not perfect, but it's workable.
Secondly, assume the meaning of life is to give meaning to life.
To impose significance, moment, glory and wonder on the universe around us; to create and discover truth, virtue, beauty, love.
We, people - the part of the universe that looks at itself and reflects and wonders and relates and judges and dreams and fears: Assume it's our job to do that, but more. To expand our self-awareness, individually and collectively. Assume we are here to learn to make something better than ourselves, something better than we can even imagine.
We assume this because, again, the way our brains work we need to make ourselves believe things matter in order to not fall down and stop moving. It's the simplest, most universal thing there is for us to believe in: that the pursuit to find (or build) something worthwhile is in itself worthwhile. A belief so simple it allows for many other, more meaningful, more subtle and complex beliefs to develop without contradiction. Within reason, anyway.
And then what? It still seems fairly simple. Having a world that enables humans to do this thing that only humans can do (as far as we know) is desirable. Finding out who else out there can help us do it is desirable. Conditions that enable more people to comfortably grow and expand our consciousness and finding out what more we can do are desirable. Conditions that reduce suffering, death, conflict and anything else that distracts from our job are desirable.
We are made of exploding stars and of dirt, and it's not unreasonable to hope one day we will return to the stars and leave the dirt behind. To grow up into wise immortal beings of light who play forever in a bigger, hotter universe - or something even greater, even more free, even stranger - it could be we simply need room to grow.
And that's why I want unconditional basic income and free housing, healthcare, education and right to travel everywhere for everyone.

Retirement pensions
Why should we pay pensions higher than average incomes to people who have earned their money by polluting without any solidarity with the rest of the people or with future generations (oil, nuclear, pharmaceutical industries, banks, etc.)?
If they earned more than the average salary when they were working, they were able to invest their money and benefit from it when they retired.
Why not opt for an unconditional / universal basic income with good health insurance that all citizens would receive, whatever their age? Then everyone would have their own strategy for increasing their income. In a rich country, there’s no reason why people shouldn’t be able to feed themselves, treat themselves and eat with dignity (organic permaculture)? Most of the poorest people are under 30. On the other hand, people who live in extreme poverty are over 60.
Why should elderly people be more deserving than people who devote themselves to their loved ones, to art, to social links, or than unemployed people who refuse to do unworthy work? What about the over-55s who no-one wants to work with and who are not yet old enough to retire? 73% of people receiving the minimum old-age pension are women. Prices are doubling every ten years, so pensioners no longer have enough to live on. As women live longer, they find themselves in poverty. We should abolish pensions, family allowances, the minimum income allowance (RSA), unemployment benefits, student grants and all the civil servants who manage them and who cost society so much, and introduce an unconditional universal basic income.

Pros and Cons of Universal Basic Income
In a world filled with economic challenges and uncertainties, the concept of Universal Basic Income (UBI) has garnered a lot of attention. UBI is a straightforward idea – provide every citizen with a regular, unconditional sum of money to cover their basic needs. While it sounds simple, the implications of UBI are anything but. In this article, we'll explore the pros and cons of Universal Basic Income to help you better understand this intriguing idea.
Tumblr media
Pros of Universal Basic Income
1. Poverty Alleviation
UBI has the potential to significantly reduce poverty. By providing a guaranteed income floor, it ensures that even the most economically disadvantaged individuals can meet their basic needs, such as food, housing, and healthcare.
Also Read: Unveiling Why Entrepreneurs Prefer MSME Loans
2. Simplified Welfare System
UBI simplifies the complex welfare systems in many countries. Instead of multiple assistance programs with varying eligibility criteria, a universal payment streamlines the process, reducing bureaucratic overhead and administrative costs.
3. Economic Stability
A steady influx of cash into the hands of consumers can boost demand and stimulate the economy. People with a safety net are more likely to spend, which can help local businesses and support economic growth.
4. Entrepreneurship and Innovation
UBI can encourage entrepreneurship and innovation by providing a financial cushion to individuals who want to start their own businesses or pursue creative endeavors without the fear of destitution.
5. Gender Equality
UBI can empower women, who are often disproportionately affected by economic inequality. It can help reduce the gender pay gap, as women would have the same financial backing as men to fall back on.
Cons of Universal Basic Income
1. Cost
One of the most significant drawbacks of UBI is its cost. Funding such a program requires substantial government expenditure, leading to concerns about increased taxes or budget deficits.
2. Work Incentives
Critics argue that UBI may reduce the incentive to work, as individuals can live off the basic income without the need for traditional employment. This could potentially lead to a decline in the labor force.
3. Inequality
UBI, while intended to address income inequality, may not be targeted enough. Wealthier individuals may receive the same benefit as those who genuinely need it, potentially exacerbating income disparities.
4. Inflation
With more money in circulation, there is the potential for inflation to rise. If prices of goods and services increase, the value of UBI might diminish over time, making it less effective.
5. Sustainability
The long-term sustainability of UBI programs remains uncertain. It's challenging to predict whether a country can maintain such a system without causing economic turmoil.

Conclusion
Universal Basic Income is a concept with the potential to address poverty, simplify welfare systems, and stimulate economic growth. However, it also poses challenges related to cost, work incentives, inequality, inflation, and long-term sustainability. As we explore economic policy options, it's crucial to weigh these pros and cons carefully.Pros and Cons of Universal Basic Income

With the insights the new TBOBF episode brought up about Tusken culture, I can't help wondering:
What do Tusken spindles look like? Do they prefer top whorl or bottom whorl? Dealgan-esk shape? What are they made of? whatever stick and fitting weight they find? Or do the spinning folk also have to go on a journey into the desert to get wood for their spindle?
What do they use to shear the Banthas? How much wool would they shear off? How fast does Bantha fur grow? Does it contain lanolin (or something of that kind)? What is its staple length and micron?
What kind of loom do they use to weave their fabric? Where is it?
How do they dye their fabric?
(Why would they wear black in a sand-coloured desert?)
How do they catch their Banthas from the roaming wild herds?
The red scarf of that one child looked crocheted!
Do they knit, too? needlebind?
Where is the Book of Tusken Yarn Crafts?
I need to know more!

My #1 post of 2022
My fellow Europeans,
There's another important Citizen's Initiative that needs your attention: "Reclaim your face"
It's a civil society initiative for a ban on biometric mass surveillance practices, calling European Commission to strictly regulate the use of biometric technologies in order to avoid undue interference with fundamental rights.
I hope I don't have to tell you how creepy, dystopic, scary and batshitcrazy it would be to have cameras track and recognize you, making profiles of which places you go and when o_O
This initiative wants to urge the European Commission to put a ban on these technologies into law.
The signing period will soon end on July 31, 2022.
That's not much time left and they haven't even reached 80.000 signatures... :-/

Kendra: "This is a global fight for a global cause." That statement speaks a lot to me because of the stigma irony it embodies as a catch 22 into main identity for the multitude of justice and ethics that seeked out the light we serve as Christians flipped around with the undertone of TeamSerena relativity which breaks free and soars into the world of divine infinity, natural selection, & fate. She really knew me inside & out and I really came to a conclusion that I was passionate about in an energy exchange that seems so...meaningless now that I'm understanding how for the moment things are for her. #personaldrama Basically I am nostalgic and sentimental over the thematic links of TeamSerena found in what my mothers revelation for safety on the streets means for a warning sign against the dangers associated with that world (the one we banished Baker from entering after Corlette brought the darkness of his criminal history to much needed life) as the only thing that we have control over in the present moment is what we personally seek: light, AND ALSO, what we choose to block by means of total and complete removal/avoidance/active elimination, whatever it takes...we know the difference between right and wrong, we are all given the same opportunities to resist and refuse the blocked off past realities that we can chose to destroy ourselves if God won't do it or neither will the government, because ultimately ideas are just ideas until somebody's brave enough to try out one of my ideas, and maybe you'd be pleasantly surprised by how positive the outcome would be if you just listened to me! A long time ago...do you know how many problems we could've simply avoided by simply implementing the Appliance of shared versions within hypothetical results that are seemingly no bars for how unconditional the limitation voided stretch of flat out prairies singing with meadows and belting out saunas can truly mean for the irreplaceable outcome of love surrounded by pure light in all forms in uniquely constructed variations of positive attribute with connotations beholding Jesus Christ Connotation found in the Positivity Geode embodied in the next incoming Messiah infusement https://www.instagram.com/p/CkdCI3Ug0mi/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Universal Basic Income - Advantages and disadvantages
A universal basic income (UBI) is a plan to provide a monthly stipend to all citizens. The proposal would abolish qualifying requirements, erasing the stigma associated with receiving government assistance and reducing administrative costs. This might theoretically save the government trillions of dollars annually, but how feasible is it? Let's examine the advantages and disadvantages. First, UBI is fiscally possible and could save the government spending billions of dollars annually.
While some policy analysts advocate for a universal basic income, others are doubtful. Some believe that UBI will negatively affect the economy. Others think it can effectively mitigate the economic and job difficulties brought on by automation and climate change. In addition, it would eliminate a significant number of policy traps and perverse incentives that exist in current income support systems. Moreover, the recent increase in public anxiety about the future of labor has prompted politicians to reconsider this concept.
In the Netherlands, a randomized controlled experiment with 250 people is being conducted to test the concept. Some participants were compensated without conditions, while others were required to complete volunteer labor. The study's objective is to determine the most effective means of providing financial aid to those in need. In 2011, Iran launched a statewide unconditional cash distribution scheme to compensate for eliminating bread, energy, water, and heating subsidies. The program contributed 29 percent of the average household's income.
The impending worry of job loss owing to technological progress is a significant factor in the increasing interest in UBI. In this group, however, some doubters contend that RBIs will not create work for a substantial portion of the population. Moreover, proponents of UBI assert that a guaranteed income will inspire individuals to take chances and cultivate an entrepreneurial spirit. This would be beneficial for the economy, but the question remains: how can we effectively implement a UBI program?
Funding constraints, inefficient management, and implementation problems are among the most significant obstacles to executing such a program. Nonetheless, there are a few positive developments in this regard. In July 2017, the Ontario provincial government tested a basic income pilot program. Even though the program could not realize its full potential, the new Progressive Conservative government abandoned the effort.
UBI has the potential to significantly reduce poverty by enhancing economic stability and well-being, notwithstanding cost concerns. Implementing UBI could be costly and necessitate significant changes to the social security system and other parts of the economy. However, it could also be an effective strategy for addressing the root causes of labor and housing market insecurity.
New research from the CBPP estimates the annual cost of a $10,000 UBI program at $3 trillion. In contrast, a negative income tax scheme for fifty percent of the poor would cost approximately $219 billion annually, less than the total spending for current welfare programs. Although many proponents of UBI feel the program is possible, the associated expenses are substantial. In addition, the UBI would not eradicate poverty.
Plans for a universal basic income range from simple initiatives to simplify social security to utopian promises for a profound overhaul of society. In this study, we examine the most common UBI concepts and the primary challenges to their implementation. In addition, we are looking at frequent objections, such as fears about job loss, high costs, economic impact, and social cohesion. Despite these obstacles, UBI is expected to have a less disruptive effect than the current system.

I'm seeing a lot of artists lately being snide about AI art and I get the sentiment. I agree we need to pay people not just turn out AI art that is stealing styles from artists who have put thousands of hours into their craft.
But, I think people are missing the most important part of the conversation. Namely, corporations don't care if an artist can do it better. They just want good enough to sell.
It's not just artists that are being outpaced by AI as corporations just want to spend less money while bringing up profit.
We are seeing the end of jobs and careers. I don't have solutions, except forcing the government to do either a universal basic income or forcing the government to give everyone what they need to survive.
From how I understand things a universal basic income would be best, because it gives the most control to the masses and keeps government control to a minimum - but only if the income is unconditional.

Mr. Fix-It
Joe Biden is embarking on the biggest government initiative in more than a half century, “unlike anything we have seen or done since we built the interstate highway system and the space race decades go,” he says.
But when it comes to details, it sounds as boring as fixing the plumbing.
“Under the American Jobs Plan, 100% of our nation’s lead pipes and service lines will be replaced—so every child in America can turn on the faucet or fountain and drink clean water,” the president tweeted.
Can you imagine Donald Trump tweeting about repairing lead pipes?
Biden is excited about rebuilding America’s “infrastructure,” a word he uses constantly although it could be the dullest term in all of public policy. “Infrastructure week” became a punchline under Trump.
The old unwritten rule was that if a president wants to do something really big, he has to justify it as critical to national defense or else summon the nation’s conscience.
Dwight Eisenhower’s National Interstate and Defense Highway Act was designed to “permit quick evacuation of target areas” in case of nuclear attack and get munitions rapidly from city to city. Of course, in subsequent years it proved indispensable to America’s economic growth.
America’s huge investment in higher education in the late 1950s was spurred by the Soviets’ Sputnik satellite. The official purpose of the National Defense Education Act, as it was named, was to “insure trained manpower of sufficient quality and quantity to meet the national defense needs of the United States.”
John F. Kennedy launched the race to the moon in 1962 so that space wouldn’t be “governed by a hostile flag of conquest.”
Two years later, Lyndon Johnson’s “unconditional war on poverty” drew on the conscience of America reeling from Kennedy’s assassination.
But Joe Biden is not arousing the nation against a foreign power – not even China figures prominently as a foil – nor is he basing his plans on lofty appeals to national greatness or public morality.
“I got elected to solve problems,” he says, simply. He’s Mr. Fix-it.
The first of these problems was a pandemic that’s killed hundreds of thousands of Americans -- Biden carries a card in his pocket updating the exact number -- and its ensuing economic hardship.
In response, Congress passed Biden’s $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan -- the most important parts of which aren’t $1,400 checks now being mailed to millions of Americans but $3,600 checks a child paid to low-income families, which will cut child poverty by half.
Now comes his $2 trillion American Jobs Plan, which doesn’t just fund roads and bridges but a vast number of things the nation has neglected for years: schools, affordable housing, in-home care, access to broadband, basic research, renewable energy, and the transition to a non-fossil economy.
Why isn’t Biden trumpeting these initiatives for what they are – huge public investments in the environment, the working-class and poor -- instead of rescue checks and road repairs? Why not stir America with a vision of what the nation can be if it exchanges fraudulent trickle-down economics for genuine bottom-up innovation and growth?
Even the official titles of his initiatives – Rescue Plan, Jobs Plan, and soon-to-be-unveiled Family Plan – are anodyne, like plumbing blueprints.
The reason is Biden wants Americans to feel confident he’s taking care of the biggest problems but doesn’t want to create much of a stir. The country is so bitterly and angrily divided that any stir is likely to stir up vitriol.
Talk too much about combatting climate change and lose everyone whose livelihood depends on fossil fuels or who doesn’t regard climate change as an existential threat. Focus on cutting child poverty and lose everyone who thinks welfare causes dependency. Talk too much about critical technologies and lose those who don’t believe government should be picking winners.
Rescue checks and road repairs may be boring but they’re hugely popular. 61 percent of Americans support the American Rescue Plan, including 59 percent of Republicans. More than 80 percent support increased funding for highway construction, bridge repair and expanded access to broadband.
Biden has made it all so bland that congressional Republicans and their big business backers have nothing to criticize except his proposal to pay for the repairs by raising taxes on corporations, which most Americans support.
This is smart politics. Biden is embarking on a huge and long-overdue repair job on the physical and human underpinnings of the nation while managing to keep most of a bitterly divided country with him. It may not be seen as glamorous work, but when you’re knee-deep in muck it’s hard to argue with a plumber.

Hello, really loving your posts and wish you could share more insights on composite. Anywho, what do you think about composite moon opposite venus?
Composite Chart in Astrology
The Composite is a mid-point method and shows how the relationship between the two will be, not in theory but in actuality. How they operate in practice. It is not a synastry chart where we place two charts together side by side/ or on top of one another and see the impact two people have on each other.  Synastry is how two people’s planets get along. The composite chart is the energy of the relationship. It’s the final result of synastry. The biggest difference is that you have more control over a synastry aspect than a composite aspect. A composite chart basically becomes its own entity. The relationship itself has its own birth chart basically with a Sun, rising, moon etc. As a result, basic relationship dynamics can be seen in the composite chart.
Basics of the Composite/How to Read a Composite
Interpret planets by House and Aspect
Ascendant: How the relationship started & how others / environment see you + Degree + Ascendant ruler [=Area of focused expression]
Sun [houses and aspects]: Indicates what brought you together and what goal you have in life. [Aspects to Sun : Shows purpose of the relationship supported or not]
Moon : Emotional connection & the soul of the relationship
North node : Indicates in what direction you should grow as couple
Note Stelliums
Meaning of the Houses
1st House
Planets in 1st are directly and most immediately felt by the couple. This is how they operate with one another and how they are perceived immediately by others. How their relationship typically plays out/the energy of it.
2nd House
Deals with the possessions and values of the couple. Their ability to share with eachother and maybe even the income they make with each other. The sign this house is in van indicate how they demonstrate their values to each other.
3rd House
Is about communication, and how the couple thinks about their environment. They way they communicate and their intellectual understanding of each other and the relationship.
4th House
One of the core houses to observe in the composite [Davison or Midpoint]. This house can indicate whether the couple will last or whether they’ll settle down with one another. Moon here is fabulous. Uranus, which is an erratic and unstable planet is not the best.
5th House
This has has to do with the fun and creativity a couple demonstrates with one another in the relationship. Kids, etc. An occupied 5th can indicate the couple may wish to have kids together. This can also indicate whether this will be more of a fling than a long term commitment. Like the 8th, sexual activity can be seen here. Saturn here can also restrict fun and creativity in the couples relationship or lack of kids. Well performing Saturn can make it a long lasting sexual connection.
6th House
Represents where the couple will be tested, in order to handle the outside world. It deals with the couples everyday work and routine.
7th House
Is the house of intimate lovers or open enemies. A Venus placed in 7th can display itself as two people beginning the relationship off as lovers but also where one can hurt each others [feelings[ enough for the relationship to devolve into arguments and at worst, enemies. Venus in the 7th on the other hands, can slo be one of the primary indicators of marriage/romance.
8th House
The couples ability for commitment and ownership together. 8th is death, sex, and other people’s resource. Joint accounts and possessions. An occupied 8th shows a profound bond between two people. deep intimacy and transformation. Deep sexuality.
9th House
Shows how the couple explores and thinks with the higher mind about the world together. Their beliefs. How they expand together.
10th House
Deals with the status and prestige of the couple, How they appear to the public. As a couple, it shows how they navigate the world in an outward manner. The serious approach to life and the relationship.
11th House
The social activities and social culture of the unit. Their peers, social circle/friends. How those in their environment see them. their relationship’s acceptance by society and also their social limitations. Pluto here can mean their relationship can be perceived as forbidden.
12th House
A full or occupied 12th house can be challenging in a composite chart, since it’s the house of the unconscious feelings and all things hidden. This can indicate mixed signals, confusion, miscommunication between the two people involved. Adversely, it can create a feeling of fatedness, soulmate binds, spiritual ties and even psychic connections.

I need folks to understand that capitalism is NOT synonymous with society.
The opposite of capitalism is NOT becoming a forest hermit, dependent only on yourself for your survival, completely self-sufficient and working hard every single day just to make sure you don’t starve, with no technology to assist you in any capacity whatsoever.
The opposite of capitalism is something I like to call regulated community -- i.e., socialism. Not everyone can run farms. Not everyone can sew. Not everyone can maintain easily accessible records. Not everyone can become a doctor. Not everyone can build, or engineer, or do manual labour. No one person is capable of doing everything needed to run a fair and just society, and not one single person is meant to be.
This idea a lot of people have that if you reject capitalism -- or, gods forbid, even just criticise capitalism -- then you must also be okay with abandoning all of technology, currency, society, and civilisation, is deeply poisonous and utterly inaccurate.
Tumblr media
A fun fact: the belief that you must be utterly self-sufficient, and reliant only on yourself and your own survival skills, is itself a product of capitalism. Rich people want you to believe that your only options are 1) accepting everything exactly as it is, or 2) running away into the woods to live by yourself off the land and never again have a moment’s peace lest you get yourself killed during the upcoming winter.
Capitalism is why so many of us truly believe that if we’re not being perfectly productive 100% of the time, then we’re worthless burdens on society.
But society exists to serve us. A society free of capitalism would be a society with universal basic income, universal healthcare, and free education. A society free of capitalism would be a society where you didn’t have to earn the right to exist. A single person can absolutely still build up power and wealth, but they’re prevented from stealing the labour of other people in order to do it. Every person would be safe, healthy, educated, and financially secure as a basic minimum standard.
Want proof? Here are the results of three different trials of universal basic income.
https://www.newscientist.com/article/2242937-universal-basic-income-seems-to-improve-employment-and-well-being/
https://theconversation.com/support-is-growing-for-a-universal-basic-income-and-rightly-so-161309
https://www.vox.com/future-perfect/2020/2/19/21112570/universal-basic-income-ubi-map
Basically: everywhere that has trialled universal basic income (at last count, over 20 different places ranging from single cities to entire countries) has seen massive improvements and virtually no downsides. Employment improves. Civic participation improves. Economic performance improves.
I could talk about why, but I don’t need to. The hard data is right there.
Turns out, when everyone in a society gets plenty of rest, plenty of time off, and unconditional financial security, the entire society improves. We succeed, as we were always meant to, together.
