Why are people upset with deputy Ivypool? You do realise this is the best choice for the conflicts presented in ASC, right?

“Oh Twigbranch should of been deputy.” Ok but what would she do? Wheres the conflict in that choice?? Conflict is good this is basic storytelling.

i can’t be the only one who’s always been irked by ivypool’s name

i know she was supposedly named after a real person, “Ivy Poole”, but the -pool suffix does not do her characterization justice, in my opinion

when i think of -pool, i think of gentle, tranquil, quiet, empathetic, calm, still, etc. it could also hold some sort of spiritual significance like with leafpool for finding the moonpool

but, subjectively, for the majority of her character arc, ivypool is jealous, bitter, violent, fierce, impulsive, among other traits (girlboss)

her warrior name could’ve even been used to directly or indirectly drive the plot

like imagine ivyshadow, she absolutely resents the warrior name she worked so hard for because it’s a constant reminder that she is always in dovewing’s shadow

or my personal favorite, ivyfrost. imagine if dark forest apprentices earned their own dark forest warrior names and ivypaw was named after hawkfrost. or it could also be interpreted as a symbol for her cold demeanor, the “cold shoulder” she gave dovepaw/wing. orrrr she could’ve even been named after her blue eyes, and frosty white and silver coat.

there’s plenty of names that could’ve matched her fierceness, like ivyclaw (i’m aware -claw is quite common but i still love the way it sounds) or ivystorm, ivyfang, ivystrike, ivythorn, ivyhiss ANYTHING BUT IVYPOOL WHYYYY

her suffix just feels so meaningless, and unfortunately i guess it is in a way
