The Bright Light Shattered Boy

I fell in love with the boy who was harmed

I loved him dearly, unconditionally.

I loved him when he was harmful

I knew his fear was sharp and would stab as a defense mechanism

He was shattered and I knew I was walking on broken glass

But I didn’t care because I was blinded by the bright light of his soul that craved the love I could give.

The problem was he was too scared and pushed me away by fear I would break him like those before

He could not decipher who wanted to cause him harm and who wanted to show love and he walked away before allowing love in, scared of being hurt again

And I let him go so I would stop getting stabbed by a pain that didn’t cause.

It wasn’t fair to either of us but it’s
