I have joined the society of bluetooth earphones

#refurbished for the record #i have been dragged kicking and screaming into the future #my phone doesn't have a headphone jack. my mp3 player does but it also has bluetooth capability. my ereader only has bluetooth for audio #so I figure since I'm going on the eclipse trip in a few months I should get some wireless buds for the train #went with some used skullcandy sesh because they were like twenty-two dollars had had a twenty hour battery life #I ALMOST went with some used Hesh headphones that looked really cool and had fifteen hours but were also forty-nine dollars #which combined with the other things I needed to buy would have put me thirteen dollars over my seventy-five dollar walmart giftcard #I was very tempted if just for the aesthetique~ but realized if I bought the cheaper earbuds I could have enough money for some instax film #and the cheaper earbuds and 2 pack of film plus the household objects I needed put me at a tidy seventy-four dollars and fifty-six cents #so I didn't have to spend any actual money on anything woot woot #the earbuds are blue. which is my favorite color. but they're like a pastel blue. which is like my least favorite shade of blue #ah well I'll sacrifice looks for function and affordability any day #*stares in slight dismay at hideously pink refurbished and thirty dollar instax mini 9* #what I REALLY wanted was some of those urbanista solar-powered headphones/earbuds #but even used/refurbished both were out of the total price range of the gift card(s) #I actually had two giftcards which together totaled seventy-five so that was pretty sweet

i think its obvious that i dont live well, like, i eat spoiled food and don't take care of myself, my home, or my belongings, right? everyone can see that, i'm not subtle about it. i rarely clean, i'm cheap to the point of insanity about things like food half the time, i'm not living well.

they should invent bluetooth earbuds with a larger rechargeable battery pack that you can strap on with a harness or something that doesn't have super long wires that will tangle in whatever you're doing and lasts for 24 hours of use and also is less than $20

i'm tired of having to take breaks i don't even need from my sewing because i can't use my corded headphones while i crawl around tracing patterns on the floor since there's no way the cord will reach that far and because it's legit dangerous to use corded headphones while i'm sewing with my machine since i might get them caught under the presser foot and/or tangled in my fabric

Why do you need your earbuds to have a wire so badly?

I am assuming this is about a post I reblogged like six months ago when I went off on forced technological enshitification and the slow erosion of consumer options. But sure, I'll bite.

Why do I "need" my earbuds to have a wire? I dunno, Anon, maybe I:

Don't want to have to worry about recharging my earbuds.

Don't want my earbuds to be even easier to lose.

Don't want my earbuds to need separate accessories that are as easy to lose as the earbuds.

Prefer to have bluetooth turned off on my devices for security and safety reasons.

Like being able to seamlessly plug my earbuds into my computer, my MP3 player, or any other device with a headphone jack.

Don't want to spend 50 dollars on decent wireless earbuds when I can do all the above things with a pair of solid earbuds that cost me like $12 during the Obama administration.

Don't care about what kinds of headphones or earbuds people wear but don't like what it says about our society when other people apparently care what kind of earbuds I'm wearing so much they have send an Anonymous ask to interrogate me about it.

And I guess, more abstractly, because fuck Apple. That's why.
