Sharing my very long (super long) final comment on @butter--peanut‘s story kamui blues (which ended today). Idk why I’m posting it here too, maybe because the fic means just that much to me, or because I met Kris & @foebito through it, but yeah.

Under cut because its very very long....(plus it contains fic spoilers)

So it ended. We knew it would eventually. It seems a little unreal to think that there won't be a chapter anymore, mayb you feel similar here. I've told you that I have thought of what to comment for the past few weeks (yes weeks!) to summerise all my feeling of this fic and what it means to me, what it brought to me, so I'm typing this down before bed. I wanted to do it tomorrow, but I can't wait. Maybe you'll read this in the airport before your big flight or sometimes in San Franscisco in a hotelroom when you have time to breathe, whenever it is, I'm sorry, I have not pre-written this, but I can tell it's going to be long and full of sappy thoughts. Apologies ahead.

When I found this fic in July last year, I had just finished my Naruto read through, the first time to the end. I went into the kkob tag not because I was a hardcore shipper (thats henry's doing!), but just out of interest. Kamui Blues was the top fic and I got hooked on the tagline alone. It was just chapter 1. I remember clearly how hot it was that day, such a hot polish summer, and I sat on my bed phone in hand and reading. I lost the fic again because I closed it, but accidentally found it again maybe a week later at Chapter 2. As you know I wrote my first comment then too (I cant believe its been so long!) That day I was laying next to my boyfriend in the heat, gesturing my ass off about this fic I had found and what premise it had and even he said he thought is a great set up (and he does not like Obito so thats a wow!).

I loved the early chapters, and while the rest of the story is also very very dear to me the early story is my favourite part. I think it is good to have Kakashi at least a little happy, enjoying himself and Obito a bit unnerved and pissed off. I think the dynamic works well when Obito is just a nobody. Scenes in my head are ofc the one henry drew (in the hospital!) and the time kakashi says "Im fucking you apparently." Amazing.

You know I did not know that you could sub to fics because I'm an idiot, so from time to time I checked in to make sure there wasn't a new chapter. IN august I was finally able to go back to Germany again, so I opened it olny when I was in a very long line for a rollercoaster (Phantasialand Bonn btw, Tauron is the coaster- its.. very good), my best friends hand on my shoulder to guide me forward when necessary I read 3 chapters at once and when I was done it was like falling out of a trance, I had completely forgotten where I was. I told him that thats just my favourite fic, he shouldn't worry too much. My head was like WOA. I know I commented that, not to brag, just because I was like WOW. I'm pretty sure that was the chapter in which KAKashi recognises that Tobi was in Akatsuki all along.

I was so sad to hear Kakashi was framed as a bad person, a collaborator during the pain attack. I do not hate AU's in which Kakashi turns his back on konoha for all the shit they've done to him, but being framed? It was an important point of course, Obito taking charge not only of their lives but his own emotions and I loved the Kage summit a lot when they - how did henry say that- "make out while watching television". Memorable is especially the scene in which Kakashi says "I love you" to show the kage that he is under genjutsu. Ah, I want to read that again now.

I checked again week by week, it became such a normal behaviour on a friday that my friend whom I watch esports with on fridays knew that I was absent during game breaks because I was reading. He doesn'T know naruto apart from the general knowledge most people have but he sure knows kamui blues! :D I gotta admit, that was the time Obito died and didnt die and then Kakashi freaked out and while NOW i understand why that all happened, at the time I wondered if the fic had gotten a bit out of hand, if you had a plan. YOu know it happens in fic writing that the author does a plot twist just for the sake of a plottwist and it gets resolved instantly. THis was obviously not the case her at all, but I couldn't know this at the time.

Then the break. I remember feeling like I would have loved to offer you help on the writing process, but I had just recently watched the anime myself so how could I help? So instead i followed you on tumblr. I followed henry on tumblr and I know we talked about this just earlier today, but both of you followed me back and I was like WOO. I was so small then still, back before the groupchat existed. Then I met Henry through a stupid meme and we talked kamui blues until we realised we were both native speaker germans- what a coincidence!! And they were just the most annoying and lovely little person on my heal "read the other stories, read pitch black" I read Kiri through in the break and loved it and I gave in and read pitch black. I got this little community of ours on discord, I got closer with henry and we were wiating for the return.

When KB came back Henry spoiled me (a little! They screamed like a madperson on tumblr!) and thats when we started talking about chapters after the landed in private messages. It was like discussing your favourite episode of a tv show with each other and I enjoyed that time very much. I wanna shortly mention in the story shit started getting real and Sakura took Kakashi's eye and I gotta say, as much as I hated Sasuke, more than not I liked Sakura. I'm glad you gave her the arc she got, because she really deserved that. Oh and that you dressed Obito in jonin clothing! Perfect.

And then you and I started talking in pm's and I remember you mentioned something about a character being re-animated in kb (later id find out its shisui) and I told henry and henry went like "YOU GET KAMUI BLUES SPOILERS" as if I was included in insider trading or something. I was terribly nervous because I liked talking to you, but I didn't want to overwhelm or annoy you because by then you'D become an idol of some sort (which is crazy i know) and I wanted you to like me. I tried hard to balance between talking to you and leaving you alone and it too me all my courage to ask you if you have discord. And you did! And we started talking more. Woop.

(I know ive said it a lot but) AND THEN we made the groupchat thing for my fanfic dumbs and Henry and me were worried TOGETHER we might overwhelm you with constant chatting and oc talk, but I think you actually enjoyed it. I love getting babysit by either one of you and while I love our discord server a lot, our groupchat is just a bit more familiar. We got to hear your editing process through the final chapters while Henry and me live blogged each time a new one came out. That was nerve wrecking because I had to read it all fast, but it was so much fun too (and must have been terribly fun for you anyway). I cant believe you brought rin back (but not sakumo, come on). And obito got to be a badass and Kakashi and TENZO, god, I - still have feelings on that, i know you know, but urgh the poor boy, at least he wasnt captured all war long.

Here we are are now, the final chapter (After that wonderful smut we got to read early, yummy, dead animal kakashi and all). I think the fact that we decided to read it together on voice chat was the best decision ever and I'm so glad you were the one reading it to us. I did cry, a couple of times actually, i just ate it up so you guys wouldnt laugh at me. Its utterly perfect this ending, full of warmth and love and sunshine and the way here has been utterly perfect. Henry said it best when they compared it to Song of Archilles (read it and weep!)- a happy end, but what a tear jerker one.

So much has changed since and because this story caught my eye. I think part of why I cried today reading this was because I was reading it there with you and henry and how we will be friends well over this stories end. It seems so rather random that we met this way, I wouldnt know how to explain it to my mom. I'm so endlessly grateful to you and the universe because it brought this together. This was a fantastic novel and I want to congratulate you again on finishing all of it. I can't even say I'm proud, because I didnt know you back then, but I feel like it anyway. Kamui blues means a big deal to me not only because its a great fic (And it is!) but also because I now have you guys in my life and thats just such a gift to have. I will be forever thankful and ugh im teary again

I'm running out of characters (really true!) so I just want to again wish you a great flight, cant wait fo you to be back so we can watch some JJK so you can fall in love with the next friends to enemies to lovers ship there is (one has white hair and one has black hair even oops!) and maybe, in summer, we can all meet somewhere and just hang out. An Austrian an australian and a german going into a bar -there is a joke there somewhere I bet. I send you many many hugs, tiny tiny forehead kisses and wish you all the best. I cherish you a lot, Kris, I'm glad I met you. Congrats on finishing the masterpiece. I think its going to be around for a long time.

youve probably said this somewhere already and i am just The Stupid but how did deidara first meet the trio...

dont u worry my friend ur not stupid ily.. i honestly probably said it a long time ago and i dont want u to have to dig thru my oc tag to find it i really need to work on the timeline for the oc universe to share it w everyone so ppl can understand what the fuck im talking about more but anyway!

they have a pretty unconventional meeting as far as best friends for life and future spouse meetings go theyre like.. a very vaguely enemies to friends thing they meet when the trio break into one of the akatsukis underground bases to find 1. evidence of the akatsuki/akatsuki subordinates involvement in the death of innas team 2. steal back the puppet that sasori made of nethers adoptive mom after her death.

the trio get in and get out of the base with both evidence and nethers mom and are able to rebury her mother along with looking over the evidence and talking about their next move forward.

meanwhile sasori has returned to his workshop and immediately realizes that someone has broken in & after taking stock he realizes that his most recent addition to his collection (nethers mom) has been stolen and hes predictably furious.

he sets out to quickly gather intel on who could be interested in stealing the puppet and figures out that nether is responsible. he angrily demands that deidara go out and retrieve the puppet and the theif and deidara really isnt that invested in it hes just like yeah whatever my dude peace out.

this is all happening within the course of three days or so and because of that the trio have already covered a good amount of ground and deidara may be a dumbass but hes not stupid and hes good at finding his targets, so hes able to spot the trio and recognizes nether from the file sasori was able to get on her and sends down a clay creature to try and drag her up to his bigger bird.

the trio really dont like fighting in general, inna refuses to harm people with the weapons she collects and only will use them in self defense or in an effort to protect someone else in an emergency circumstance and although spectre uses pshycic/spirit powers in hypothetical fights they only have so much energy to use.

so anyway basically what happens is that nether is able to cut through the clay with her ribbons and drops down to the bird and is like HEY! WHAT THE FUCK! and deidara in turn is like UH IM THE ONE THAT SHOULD BE SAYING WHAT THE FUCK YOU JUST CUT UP MY BEAUTIFUL ART

and nether just starts losing her shit up in the sky while inna and spectre are like oh god oh fuck this is not good and inna is very good at strategies and figuring problems out so shes starting to try and sort this out but before she can tell spectre her plan they go hey inna catch and shes like wait what and then spectre astral projects out of their body which just slumps over

anyway. they overpower deidara and possess him and meanwhile inna is using a grappling hook to get to the bird after doing acrobatics thru the trees and calculating the exact distance and angles she needs to throw it at in her mind.

so anyway spectres like well i can only hold this guy off for a half hour at most and innas like thats great thats fine you can get this bird on the ground though right and spectres like yeah sure i can. ha ha wait. uh. maybe not. ah. fuck so theyre just stuck up in the air until they figure out a way to work together to get down using innas grappling hook, nethers ribbons, and the last bit of spectres energy as they stop possessing deidara to help them float down.

they go down back to spectres body and then skedaddle the heck out of there and then deidara wakes up like an hour later and he just screams angrily for a bit bc yknow i would scream after that too.

i know this is already long forgive me but were not done w the initial meeting yet.. the trio realize that deidaras from the akatsuki and that that means that their sneaky heist has been discovered and they dont really have a lot of time to figure out a new strategy because by this time sasori has come out and is after them as well, the trio get seperated as he enters the playing field and inna decides that shes going to try and distract deidara for as long as she possibly can because sasori is really focused on attacking nether and she knows that being attacked by both enemies at once would be really bad so she just spends the whole time jumping from tree to tree talking with deidara and asking him all sorts of questions and just completely refusing to fight him while also finding out stuff.

meanwhile spectre has regained about half of their energy and before the fight even begins they realize that the only way they have a chance of getting out of this is by having a suprise up their sleeve so they quickly put a protective seal over their body and leave it to partially possess nether which basically means theyre just surrounding nether with their energy and also feeding off of her energy so together theyre stronger in both their defense and their attacks.

without getting into 2 the details of the fight against sasori too much bc this is already long theyre able to break part of hirukos tail and smash through part of the rock enclosure that sasori has cornered them into in order to escape and regroup with inna.

its after this fight that the trio decide that they need to find a permanent place to stay that can be a safe home for them even as theyre looking for answers in the death of innas team and so they shortly find a small village which is fairly far away from the larger more powerful villages and they refurbish an old empty apartment building into their little shop with the apartment they all live in upstairs!

they live pretty peacefully there for almost a year until sasori is able to find them but rather than straight up attacking them hes interested in gathering information on them since they managed to beat him and could possibly be useful in the future to him so he starts spying on them himself out of hiruko because of course practically no one knows what he really looks like so going into the shop without any real disguise is the best disguise and nethers just like huh that quiet guy who just spends the whole time hes in here looking at our plants and glaring at me is back again. weird.

eventually he gets too busy to go spy on them himself and he sends deidara in his place which is a very big mistake on his part because deidara just blows his whole cover right away and instead of spying on the trio he becomes friends with them and is blowing off akatsuki business to be with them before eventually faking his death to live with them and to try and be a better person because theyve been such a good influence on him and shown a better part of the world to him

thank u for asking abt this!!! im sorry this got so long again i rlly need to figure out a way to make a good visual timeline thats easy to read that shows all the different plot points in the trios story and overall version of the naruto universe

Naruto talk: Deidara’s family

Ok so ive spent ALLLLLL DAY looking for this one post that set all this off but i CANNOT FIND IT ANYWHERE.

Tl:dr of the post was OP thought Deidaras last name was Namikazi and i am 10000% on board but it also made me think like, how did he wind up in iwa??? There was also another post about the akatsuki and how deidara just wanted to be appreciated for his damn art but no one in iwa cared but i cant find that either????

So.SO

Headcanon time

Deidara is a lil war orphan. (like 99%of the akatsuki are orphans???)

One of his parents is an explosion release user from Kiri and one is from konohas Namikazi clan

Everyone in the Namikazi clan has blond hair and big blue eyes/ Nordic features which are all really rare among ninja in the land of fire.

Namikazi’s also have a propensity for Wind style chakra. Deidara has this too but was only ever trained to use his Explosion release.

Im not sure if his parents are both ninja but i think whoever had explosion release was at least Chunin .

Parent A with explosion release was declared a missing nin and killed while they and deidara were travelling forcing the remaining parent B to flee .

Unfortunately second parent B was killed at the start of the 3rd ninja war because it was discovered that they were a konoha nin living in Iwa leaving bby deidara wandering the streets alone.

At this stage he's like 3-5 years old .

He has no idea his last name is Namikazi. He knows his parents died but he didn’t actually watch them die ( unlike konan and nagato for example) so it was more like they just went away rather than being really traumatizing. Onoki , kurotsuchi and Kitsuchi are the only family he knows.

honestly doesnt really remember his parents at all.

While out surveying the damage Onoki and Kitsuchi find baby deidei wandering around in rubble possibly near dead parent B waiting for them to wake up.

Onoki and kitsuchi contemplated leaving deidara to the mercy of the war but Kitsuchi had just had Kurotsuchi and couldn’t stand to hear a little kid cry.

Kitsuchi brings deidara home like a stray puppy while his wife is giving him “theres a war on how we going to feed another child” face.

Deidara spends a lot of time with Onoki while Kitsuchi and his wife are out at war.

Kurotsuchi is like 2-4 and is happy to have a new sibling with pretty doll hair that she can totally mess up. This is why she calls him Big Brother Deidara.

His birthday isnt actually May 5th, thats just the day Kitsuchi found him.

Even though he's been adopted and thats a lot better than being completely orphaned and left on the streets like the ame trio things still aren’t great for deidara.

His new family are all Iwa born and bred. Iwa is a VERY militaristic place,just look at their shinobi’s attitude. Kurotsuchi is a daddies girl so she gets things better than him, gets away with a lot more than he does.

For Deidara his life is run like hes constantly at military boot camp.

Even from a young age deidara showed more intrest in art than fighting . this has always been a point of contention between him and Onoki/Kitsuchi. They frequently threw out or ruined deidaras art projects in an attempt to get him to serve the village more.

Deidara and Kurotsuchi were always the top of their class in Iwa Academy. Kitsuchi is secretly very proud of his powerful kekkai genkai children but he’d never tell them.

No matter what deidara did in ninjutsu he always tried to make it artistic

Baby deidara always had trouble controlling his explosion release ( because his wind chakra made things a little....volatile?) he’d blow things up by sneezing or smacking his hand down on something too fast.

When it was discovered deidara had explosion release he was instantly taken up by Onoki as his student because Iwa was one of the few nations who still held up Kekkai Genkai users as the best weapons of war the ninja world had to offer. Deidara wasn’t happy about this but he wasn’t given any say.

It was Kurotsuchis mom who suggested he mould his chakra into clay since it was a very stable material.

She didn’t discourage his artistic persuits like her husband but because iwa is so focused on war and fighting she couldn’t really encourage him either knowing he’d have to give it up at some point.

Literally no one in Iwa cares about art and if they do they tend to keep it to themselves

I cant help but feel if deidara had gotten praise from one person for his art and not being a weapon he wouldn’t have gone postal.

Now he's grown up he’s 99% of his own praise.

If someone had gotten to him before he got all egotistical and given him some praise he would latch onto them like a lamprey eel.

Deidara was only like 14 when he left the village. he’d had enough of everyone either ignoring him and his art or treating him like a Tool .

Kurotsuchi was about 12 and didnt really understand why he left ( even to this day) she asked kitsuchi a few times but he would usually just lie or paint deidara in a bad light so as to put kurotsuchi against the idea of looking for him/ against deidara himself.

I have SO many feels about Deidara. i only ment for this to be like 4 bullet points but woops.

so the lovely @samby-chan tagged me in this naruto challenge thing and I figured I might as well do it because this is kind of? sorta? a naruto blog?

Name your Favourite Female Character(s): temari + the konoha girls basically Male Character(s): gee I wonder who that might be... Team: sand fam Sensei: Kakashi and Iruka..I like the concept of kurenai but they never really gave us more than that. Hokage: I liked tsunade tbh. Kage: the mizukage lady who can literally spit lava and acid. Village: sand fam’s sand clan Akatsuki: konan and kisame (plus kakuzu and hidan I guess but I like the more as a team than as individual characters) Jutsu: everything konan does basically Episode/Chapters: the very start of the whole gaara gets kidnapped arc if only because those are the only chapters of the manga I actually own. Fight Scene: the hidan & kakuzu fight + all the sasuke retrieval arc fights. Fanfiction: that one author on fanfiction.net who wrote really good kank fics...the one I remember the most was about rasa having sent kank on secret s-ranked missions because he refused to assassinate gaara... I still think about it from time to time. Story Arc: the chunin exam and sasuke retrieval arc will always be classic, tho I do remember really liking the pain’s assault arc because it felt like the first big victory in naruto’s story arc. Filler: I’ve only seen the fillers where the sand sibs appear + the one where they dedicated an entire episode to making fun of gai’s small dick. OTP (explain why): I feel like I give the wrong impression here but I’m honestly not really a shipper. like I guess I could call shikatema my otp if only because they’re the couple I’m the most ok with. NOTP (be nice): the only ones I can think of is the kind of shit that pretty much no one wants to see (oronaru and such....) Crackship(s): gaara x funk BROTP: after the last anime episodes? kank and lee tbh, tho I’m always here for all the konoha girls (+temari) just being one big girl gang (hey kishi doesnt care about them so they gotta care for each other) OT3: nah Crossover Ship: nah Do you have any headcanons: you can’t just ask me that and expect me to sum up 7 years worth of headcanons in one paragraph.

Are you happy with the ending? What would you have done differently? sort of? I feel like what we did see wasn’t exactly bad, but there were a lot of other things they could have focused on that would have been way more interesting. personally I would have preferred it ending with naruto becoming hokage, entering his office and immediately realizing that he can’t do the job cause he never learned how to use a computer.

How do you feel about the new generation? eh, other than the great injustice that is sakura’s entire life I don’t have anything against it, but there isn’t really anything about it that I like enough to bother paying attention.

Say something about your favourite character. Good and bad: like 90% of the text posts on this blog are already me talking about kankuro so I’ll keep it short: I like that he somehow manages to be weird and different in a cast full of characters who can spit fire and summon giant slugs. everytime he’s appeared we’ve learned something new about him and tho its always unexpected it never seems too ooc.

What would a child between your OTP look like? I’m not into shipping.

What makes you mad about the series? even though naruto will always have a special place in my heart its far from flawless. there’s some pretty bad writing and inconsistencies that can be...pretty annoying. I guess my main beef with naruto is the treatment of the female characters. I’m happy that naruto isn’t as fanservice-y as a lot of anime can be, but that doesn’t change the fact that few of the female characters have more than 2-3 personality traits. what bugs me the most tho is kishimoto’s utter inability to involve the female characters in the plot and actually make them seem powerful and useful. yes he tried to push that angle with sakura towards the end of the war, but it kinda fell flat because there was almost no build up and in the end the pay off was that she....still seemed weaker than naruto. speaking of the war, I spent the last 100 chapters or so watching tenten hang around and waiting for her to be useful only to get...what? she stole some weapons after the fighting was over? thats it? yes those are only two examples, but honestly I can think of very few fights with a female shinobi that didn’t end with a) the female shinobi losing/being absolutely useless b) the female shinobi getting help or her victory being downplayed c) her straight up dying. also I guess the gender ratio in the naruto world is like 70-30 because apparently there are so few girls around that they’re limited to only one girl per team.

If you could see anything happen in the series, what would it be? way more sand siblings, obviously. tho specifically I’d like for them to have more positive interactions with temari, kishi is really fond of the bossy girl trope.

What would you say to Kishimoto if given the chance? why.
