India has landed on the Moon!!! The landing is part of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO)'s historic Chandrayaan-3 mission.
"'We have achieved soft landing on the moon,'" said ISRO Chairman Shri Somanath. 'Yes, on the moon!'"
"[Indian Prime Minister Narenda Modi] then addressed the ISRO team, speaking in Hindi but adding in English, 'India is now on the moon!'
'The success belongs to all of humanity,' he said. 'And it will help moon missions by other countries in the future. I'm confident that all countries in the world ... can all aspire for the moon and beyond. ... The sky is not the limit!'"
The remote operated lander named Vikram touched down in the south pole region at 6:02pm IST on August 23, 2023. Vikram carried a small but mighty companion, the lunar rover Pragyan (Sanskrit, "wisdom").
Vikram is named after Vikram Sarabhai, PhD, physicist, astronomer, and a major figure in the development of India's space and nuclear programs. Sarabhai served as the first chairman of the ISRO, as well as the driving force behind the organization's creation. Recognizing the need for more coordinated space research in India, Sarabhai urged the Indian government to create INCOSPAR - the committee that eventually formed the ISRO in 1969.

I finally got to see the second season of Rocket Boys and what can I say Homi and Sarabhai didn't disappoint at all- Pipsy was a classic as always and Nehru asking why Homi didn't want to be a settled man was just chef's kiss and what's with Mridalini asking Kamala to stay- like yea I get she did a lot of work IIM but she ruined your marriage all the same and no don't ask her to stay I shipped both my pairs sm and this series just shattered them The puppet master scene was like idk it was just a cinematic experience and the hindi version of asking to kick them out and Mathur: I wanna strangle this guy for all what he did but he is so diabolical and he did Razza so dirty- I feel so bad for misinterpreting Razza in the entire first season. And this show is such a deep dive into the political struggles of after effects of post independence and my political science passion is absolutely loving it. Even if I hate Indira Gandhi the way she pulled of the card with Shastri is just mind-blowing. And me waiting for Shastri's death all while he was in Tashken was just very anticipating and Pipsy didn't deserve it- I was starting to just get used to the idea of her marriage. Can't wait to Indira pulling in her strings now

Rocket Boys (2022-)
🎬The story of two extraordinary men, Homi Jehangir Bhabha and Vikram Ambalal Sarabhai, who created history while building India's future.
📝This is the review of season 2 (no spoilers) and it's such a phenomenal and beautifully shot series and if you like shows about scientists, contemporary history, and physics and real life stories of great minds then this is a must watch. If you enjoyed the 'Manhattan' series about the creation of the atom bomb, this will be right up your alley. At the moment it is available on SonyLiv (subscription) and comes with English subtitles, but I hope they will show it on Netflix so it can reach a wider audience. It's really a very good show and I highly recommend it.
The entire cast is excellent but Jim Sais truly exceptional. He is truly a versatile actor.

Vikram Sarabhai's narrative stands as an embodiment of audacious aspiration, unyielding determination, and visionary leadership. His contributions have sculpted India's scientific and technological tapestry, and his legacy continues to guide contemporary explorations of the cosmos.
Tumblr media
In the pantheon of Indian scientific luminaries, few names resonate as profoundly as Dr. Vikram Sarabhai. Born on August 12, 1919, in Ahmedabad, India, Sarabhai’s legacy is one of transformative contributions to space research, education, and the holistic advancement of his nation. This article unveils the extraordinary odyssey of Vikram Sarabhai, illuminating his accomplishments, innovations, and timeless influence.
Early Life and Scholarly Pursuits
Vikram Ambalal Sarabhai emerged from a lineage steeped in academia and entrepreneurial spirit. His father, Ambalal Sarabhai, an esteemed industrialist, and his mother, Sarla Devi, a genuine disciple of Mahatma Gandhi, imparted a diverse cultural and intellectual upbringing. Sarabhai’s educational voyage commenced at Gujarat College in Ahmedabad, where his ardor for science ignited and propelled him toward academic excellence. Crossing oceans, he pursued his doctorate in physics at the University of Cambridge, nurturing the bedrock of his future scientific pursuits.
Pioneering the Cosmos: Architect of India’s Space Odyssey
Vikram Sarabhai’s appellation is virtually synonymous with the genesis of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). With visionary insight, he discerned the potential of space technology as an agent of socioeconomic growth and a conduit for India’s autonomy in space exploration. The inception of the Indian National Committee for Space Research (INCOSPAR) in 1962, a precursor to ISRO, stands as his seminal achievement.
Guiding ISRO’s trajectory, Sarabhai presided over an epoch of innovation and achievement that reverberated globally—a defining moment occurred in 1975 with the triumphant launch of India’s inaugural satellite, Aryabhata. This historic feat elevated India’s standing in the global space arena and attested to Sarabhai’s expansive vision. Beyond scientific exploration, he envisaged space technology as a linchpin for pragmatic challenges such as communication, meteorology, and resource management.
Galactic Vision: Nurturing Scientific Temper
Vikram Sarabhai’s luminary extended beyond the celestial realm. He ardently championed the cultivation of scientific temper among India’s youth, recognizing it as a cornerstone for national advancement. Sarabhai’s ethos permeated institutions like the Physical Research Laboratory (PRL) and the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA), nurturing a symbiotic ecosystem fostering brilliance in scientific inquiry and management acumen.
Legacy in the Stars: Impact and Enduring Influence
The indelible mark of Vikram Sarabhai reverberates through the institutions he sowed, the visions he articulated, and the spirit of scientific curiosity he ignited. His ceaseless pursuit of excellence and emphasis on societal transformation continues to inspire generations of scientists, researchers, and dreamers. The pioneering achievements of ISRO, exemplified by missions like Chandrayaan and Mangalyaan, bear witness to Sarabhai’s unwavering resolve.
A Cosmic Conclusion: Vikram Sarabhai’s 104th Birth Anniversary Tribute
As we commemorate the 104th birth anniversary of Vikram Sarabhai, ISRO pays homage to the visionary luminary behind India’s cosmic journey. A connoisseur of pioneering ideas, Sarabhai’s endeavors knew no bounds. Notably, he assumed the helm of ISRO with a salary of just one rupee, embodying his devotion to his nation’s progress.
A Glimpse into the Roots:
Born on August 12, 1919, in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, Vikram Sarabhai emerged as a trailblazer in space technology and exploration. So I watched Rocket Boys season 2 and just completed the series just now and god it feels bittersweet. I had watched the season 1 only for Mrinalini Sarabhai because I have loved her work and also she was kinda one of the firsts to portray classical dance for social problems?? first until I fell in love with Homi Bhabha and Vikram Sarabhai. We get to see ofc the amazing sciences yes but there's more. We see their thoughts their ideals, to be same, but the paths different, yet amidst their contrasting thoughts and ideals, they are the best of friends. And season 2 showed some more of Mrinalini and the dance performance scene?? My classical dancer self was so happy to get a longer dance sequence because God really classical dances are rarely a thing in bollywood. This show made me cry, fall in love and also frustrate me at points when I was like bhai voh gaddar hai wtf don't trust him.
And why on earth aren't we talking much about rocket boys??

Omg hii!! I'm in love with them and i want to practically scream it to the world lol. I'm like OBSESSED! I did like a good Google reasearch about the actual people too, sarabhai has a good legacy, his kids talk about him, darpana is a part of him too, there's even a space exhibit in Ahmedabad named after him (i went there when I was 12 idk and now I'm jealous of my old self cuz I didn't appreciate it much and now I wanna go there again) we know him a bit more from his family but bhabha has no one to talk about him (I'm really really sorry if I'm wrong and his extended is around ) idk if any of his family is there yk. He had a brother who was married too (source: google) but idk if he had kids or not. His home 'mehrangir'🥺😭❤️ (such a beautiful name made by joining his parents name) was sadly demolished after it was auctioned. Also his office cabin was not occupied by anyone at tifr for 13 years🥺. I'm sorry if im info dumping 😭 but yeah you can tell i love them. Please feel free to talk about my rocket boys or about anything really! Byee.
