i keep seeing people asking themselves how and why the Viking Age began it is pretty funny if you are aware of how little actually changed in scandinavia so here's a little story to show the momentus time that the Viking Age began:
Gunlög of Nytuna: "ah dammit here comes the neighbours again... and they have sails now great they're gonna be even faster in their harassment... whelp, hide the valuables and get the- wait they are just passing by? HEY HÅKAN, WHAT GIVES?"
Håkan of Tällenäs: "oh hey losers, guess who found out that if i sail a few days over in that direction, you get to some big ol' house with unhygenic, unarmed little dudes with funny hairdoos? who are loaded? that's right who gives a shit about you poor bumpkins anymore, LOOOOOOSERS!"
Gunlög of Nytuna: "the insult felt unnecessary but hey if they ignore us i'm not complaining..."
and thus, the Viking Age began: same shit as the last millennium, but now with sails

Procella
Blue Devil
Procella is a blue devil inspired of the Character Classification System. She is a thunder based character with lightning slightly sewn into her abilities. She stands at 8 feet and 5 inches and has lived for 1158 thousand years in the Viking period. The red stained medal from her weapon is forged from Irium and the yellow from Avaridium. The markings that bless her blue skin is a representation of war viking age paint.
More story and details in the making…

This black leather armor, built to resemble the scales of a reptile, likely has numerous duplicates, as is common with uniforms that may be needed to costume an entire on-screen army.
The piece was first seen on Amarsaikhan Baljinnyam as Ariq in the 2014 episode of Marco Polo entitled The Wolf and the Deer. Danila Kozlovsky later wore it as Oleg in a 2019 episode of the television series Vikings entitled The Prophet, where additional details were added around the edges of the costume to give it a different look.

it's kinda funny how mental health doesn't exist in medieval dramas, like oh? my wife and children got brutally murdered by the king and you beat me and kidnapped my dog? the only intangible thing wounded here is my family honor and I will now challenge you to war

😭😭 fyfaan så søtt 🥺💖 brukte alt for lang tid på denne. Hvem sier at drømmer ikke kan bli virkelige?

This embroidered, fur-lined dressing gown has been used in at least five instances. It was most likely created for Anne Marie Duff as Elizabeth I in the 2005 BBC mini-series The Virgin Queen. It appeared in a deleted scene of Stardust in 2007 on Claire Danes as Yvaine. It was used again in Showtime’s The Tudors on Natalie Dormer as Anne Boleyn in the 2008 second season. In 2013 it was seen in the BBC mini-series The White Queen, where Rebecca Ferguson wore it as Elizabeth Woodville. Most recently, the robe was worn as a coat by Alicia Agneson as Princess Katia in a 2019 episode of Vikings.

The helmet of Vendel 1. Photographed at @historiska Stockholm a while back. This is by far my favorite helmet and also the grave I am reconstructing in my living-history project. More on that very soon.
This helmet, much like many other helmets from Vendel and Valsgärde, is covered in so called pressblech images. These gilded foils show different designs of what is believed to be (part of) an initiation ritual. Some of the elements show likeness to continental European designs and designs found in England. Objects like this belonged to the absolute elite of Early Medieval martial society and were among the most valuable items in material culture.
The gold adorned helmet is dated to around 625AD and was excavated in the 1910’s by Hjalmar Stolpe, who would later also write the excavation reports of the famed Viking burial site at Birka.
The grave, a boat burial, also contained two elaborate swords (more on that soon), a shield, smithing material, a horse, horse equipment, a spearhead, skeletons of dogs, beakers, food preparation material and grooming accessories. Needless to say it was a very elaborate grave.
At the burial site ar Vendel now stands an old church with a churchyard.
I like to think the spirits of these long gone elite warriors now reside in the great halls of the Historiska museum in the afterlife. The helmet is on display in what they call the Gold Room.
More coming soon.
Photos of the drawings are from the original report. Last photo courtesy of the Historiska museet.
