Here is where I maybe should have learned to ask myself the question “are you into him, or is he just tall?”
I’m still working on that one lol

Happy anniversary to all of us! Thank you for six years of cupcakes; you are the cupcakes I find on difficult days. I hope I have given you some. Show notes: In which Carla and Princess Jones Curtis from the Bye, Pumkin Podcast talk about being mysteriously early readers, the effect V. C. Andrews had on (mostly) the women of their generation, Paperbacks From Hell, Stephen King, how Carla’s earliest reading habits explain a lot, and how Judy Blume is still, well, perfect. Sources: All of the books discussed will be listed in the Substack, Patreon, and on the website after I catalog them all. Here’s Paperbacks From Hell by Carla’s buddy, Grady Hendrix. https://bookshop.org/a/6560/9781594749810 Grady, if you know which Zebra book (it had to be Zebra) was about the evil child named Lucien, let me know. I have to reread it. Book: Flowers in the Attic By V C Andrews Film: Flowers in the Attic (1987) Flowers in the Attic is a 1979 Gothic novel by V. C. Andrews. It is the first book in the Dollanganger Series, and was followed by Petals on the Wind, If There Be Thorns, Seeds of Yesterday, Garden of Shadows, Christopher's Diary: Secrets of Foxworth, Christopher's Diary: Echoes of Dollanganger and Christopher's Diary: Secret Brother. The novel is written in the first-person, from the point of view of Cathy Dollanganger. It was twice adapted into films in 1987 and 2014. The book was extremely popular, selling over forty million copies world-wide. Flowers in the Attic is a 1987 American psychological horror film directed by Jeffrey Bloom and starring Louise Fletcher, Victoria Tennant, Kristy Swanson, and Jeb Stuart Adams. Its plot follows four children who, after the death of their father, are held captive in the attic of their abusive grandmother's sprawling estate by their cruel and manipulative mother. It is based on V. C. Andrews' 1979 novel of the same name. At one point Wes Craven was scheduled to direct the film, and had completed a screenplay draft. Producers were disturbed by his approach to the incest-laden story, however, and Jeffrey Bloom ended up with writing and directing duties. I never noticed before, in MSA, that Damien’s office is a big round room “directly beneath the cupola” and now I can’t stop thinking about it. There are so many implications

Interesting review from Ann Patty on Goodreads regarding new VCA Biography, I have mixed feelings on Patty, I feel she is dismissive of VCAs talent but I'd love to know her thoughts on this more fully @dollanganger-in-the-attic @devinross1939

I am so excited for the Fall season and everything pumpkin, Scary movies and stories too. Pulled all the books from my shelf that reminds me of the season that I want to read again, some dating back to 1993. Joe Hill (pen name) are the newest ones I enjoyed, his writing reminds me of his Dad, Stephen King, but a little different. #bigbooks #bigstack #fallreads #pumpkinspiceseason #pumpkinfacemask #rlstine #stephenking #joehill #josephking #vcandrews https://www.instagram.com/p/CT04GocjxHCgs6iWrhvKZpk2m6ckLVYRI9N_3A0/?utm_medium=tumblr
