i feel like not enough people use writing fanfiction as a way to like... study and learn? outside of it being more practice and things. like sure, this is for entertainment first and foremost, but for me keeping the writing tone and characterization as accurate as i can to then transform it more into a writing style to create something good just ends up in me like, intensely studying the source material. i don't ever go off of memory i fucking break that shit down, study dialogue patterns and write down literally everything the characters i'm writing for say, observe the structure and themes and tone of whatever i'm looking at, watch and analyze things until i'm sick of them and come out a better writer because of that hands-on observation and because i simply fucking hate when other people go off of memory while writing characters i like ❤️

Yes, though! Ice is getting an expanded role in my rewrite. She is the child of Skyheart and Reedtail with her sister Pinefur, and the cousin of Reedwhisker!

She was an apprentice on the Great Journey, during which she ended up falling for a Tribe paw. Mint was chased out of RiverClan along with Storm and Brook during the Thistle Law surge that followed WindClan's Rebellion, but came back after the sudden death of Leopardstar.

Ice has always felt like something was suspicious about that death. On one paw, the death of Leopardstar returned her Mintflower, on the other hand... how can it possibly be okay that she had her skull bashed in and Mistystar just becomes leader? With so little investigation?

Skyheart is still around, too, to whisper things in Ice's ear. That Mistystar punished all of Leopardstar's old allies by shuffling apprentices, calling her a tyrant, not to trust her.

She turns to the Dark Forest because Leopardstar is there, and she wants to learn more about her. And she brings Beetlewhisker too.

From there the story is similar; I just built a lot in the blank space. Her son dies and she can't forgive herself for it. She protects other trainees as much as possible.

Though there is a change for two reasons:

Brokenstar is not in the DF for this Rewrite and thus did not kill Beetle. See: Firestar's Quietus

The Dark Forest is not as objectively evil and a lot of the demons are less enthusiastic about attacking the living than canon, so Icewing was speaking for some of them too. Not just younger trainees.

After the Great Battle, Icewing is actually unable to have kits again. She is taking it as a curse, a punishment for endangering Beetlewhisker. Nightkit and Breezekit were stillborn.

Her role opposing the impostor is unchanged, though, her collaborator Harelight is becoming a light in the mist! His name is probably going to be an Honor Title for it; I'm thinking he was called Harefur for AVoS and TBC before that.

(Mistystar likes to name families using matching suffixes. Softpelt, Dappletuft, Harefur. Gorseclaw is cut.)

I don't rewrite arcs until they're complete, so Bonefall ASC is still undecided, but you can see I'm giving Icey-Wi LOTS of setup in preparation.

I never realize how unevenly pigmented my skin is until someone has to put me in makeup lol

#like for starters i'm already pale as fuck. like so pale i'm basically translucent and you can see all my veins #but then there are these blotchy areas around my eyes and mouth that are even paler #it's really subtle so it doesn't matter a whole lot. but when you're trying to color match it definitely complicates things #and then i've got these patchy little freckles across my nose and cheeks. also hard to notice unless you're way up close #but anyone putting me in makeup is way up close. and very quickly starts wondering why i look so flat when they're colormatching at first #and at first i look really pink/red but when you actually try to match my skin tone i'm so blue undertoned i look undead #so it's just. an experience for anyone trying to match my skin tone for a prosthetic #my classmate today is good at colormatching so it wasn't too bad but i feel bad for the girl who put me in a bald cap last semester

Hey gang I have a very interesting interest check for you today.

In the past I made these dice chests (one for me, one for a friend, some pics under cut), and I really enjoyed the process of making them. Now of course if I just make random ass boxes I'm not gonna have anywhere to put them so, ya know, maybe I could sell them somehow?

This is a pure interest check as in "if you have any interest in this concept then lemme know" I have no ideas about specifics but I figured I have a bunch of yakuza mutuals, I can maybe make a couple themed boxes. If there's a larger want then expected I'll make more of a concise google form thing to really get the people's voices

Also I called them dice chests, they can also be used for storage, but I'd put felt at the bottom so it works for dice rolling.

This also will not go into full swing until the summer since, ya know I still got a whole other round of classes to get through, but I can definitely concept and stuff. They just probably won't be made until then.

So with all of that out of the way....
