The loneliest camp in Lucis. No matter how many times I play this game I still keep finding new things. When Noctis returns from the crystal he’s lost, alone and surrounded by daemons at Galdin Quay.  In my previous playthroughs I never went down to the beach but this time I thought I’d take the time to explore a little.  I was not disappointed.   I was surprised when the Lachyrte haven menu popped up.  Did I want to camp?  YES! There is no familiar Coleman tent, no camp chairs and no camp stove, just Noctis, Umbra and a chilled food tin.  At least Noctis was safe from the daemons for a little while. I like to think that Luna can hold somewhat of conversations with Umbra, and (for outsiders) it goes kinda like this:

Luna: Umbra! WHAT DO YOU HAVE IN YOUR MOUTH!?

Umbra: *full mouth noises

Luna: your last “nothing” had you in the vet for a week! COME HERE

Umbra: *bark

Luna: no

Umbra: *pleading bark

Luna: Umbra, you won’t eat meat that isn’t well cooked, you wouldn’t survive in the the dog park by your own

Umbra: *angry bark

Luna: DONT BARK ME, Prompto told me you just plop in his couch for the 10 year night!

So I started reading this fic, and I’m drinking it down.

Fanfic: Penumbral by Salty_Mog on Ao3 (art of a scene in Ch13: Shell Shock)

Summary:

[Noctis had told his friends he remembered very little of his decade in the crystal.]

[Noctis had lied.]

Trapped in Reflection, Noct discovers Bahamut isn’t quite the benevolent deity he’s made himself out to be. Feeding on death, the Draconian waits in anticipation for Noct’s final sacrifice. And as the sun rises at last, Umbra offers Ignis, Gladio, and Prompto an alternative—but with a catch.

Now, back in a world of light, the four of them discover that behind every happily ever after is a big flaming mess of new problems—from angry gods, to relentless Niffs, to the fallout of a decade spent in darkness, to trying to figure out what exactly is wrong with Noct.

And, as each man battles his daemons, Noct himself finally learns—once and for all—that no one is an island.
