ugood to know that amazon is hiring 100,000 new positions, so that when all this eventually ends, cools down, or whatever, people will argue that companies like this played an essential role in combating whatever obstacles surfaced as a result of the virus spreading, quarantines, etc. no matter how poor the government response is, people will remember despite the empty shelves in the afternoon grocery store that in fact they never did run out of food so long as they had money for it in the first place. and amazon will have any even bigger workforce, more people reliant upon it as an employer. idk, i kind of hope im just missing something, and so am open to be convinced otherwise or pointed to a direction ive inadvertently ignored or something, but it seems like theyll just have an even stronger infrastructure as a result of all this. like this is literally what we’ve gotten in the country and i guess in the world at large, no institutions that can respond or are prepared or credible, not government, not schools, not international organizations, its just the businesses that can adapt to something like this. i worry that we’ll come out of this seeing some people rightfully critical of the government but then deciding to double down on free market, tech, progressive bs narratives. 

its really difficult to see how anybody in good conscience can actually spin any of this into anything but a critique of status quo neoliberalism. and all this as democrats hold primaries when everyone obviously cant get out to vote. mostly, its like all of this is just explicitly underlining already existing problems, but likely few will reorient their views in response
