“Are you sure you don’t want me to stay?” Jihyo was pressing her elbow into the center console as she spoke out of the passenger window. She squinted her eyes at Anna when the girl didn’t respond, waiting for an answer from her, “I’ll sit at another table and if he tries anything I’ll jump him. I’m serious.”

Anna was quick to shake her head, pulling the strap of her purse up higher on her shoulder, “Nono please don’t do that. I’ll be okay, we’re just meeting this time so I can properly apologize.” Her eyes seemed to drift away as she rushed out the words, Jihyo’s curious eyes seeming like they were burning a hole into her. The incident backstage played on a continuous, haunting loop in her head, like a bug that won’t leave you alone, and she hasn’t stopped feeling bad ever since.

“Hey, call me when you’re done and I’ll come get you,” Jihyo pouted in defeat, making sure she had Anna’s attention before putting the car in drive and smiling at her, waving out the window as she pulled away.

Anna swallowed thickly as she watched the car drive down the street, tucking a fallen lock of hair back behind her ear. Part of her wished she said yes for Jihyo to stay. At least it would’ve killed a little of the awkwardness that was for sure going to happen. But she was a big girl and could do this herself. She took a deep breath in as she turned on her heels, pulling the door to the small café open.

A faint blush dusted her cheeks when she did a quick scan of the room, eyes falling directly onto the man she had come to see. He was sitting in the back corner of the room, elbow pressed firmly on the table as he scrolled through his phone. She nibbled on the inside of her cheek as she held onto the strap of her purse and let her feet guide her over to his table.

“Oh, Youngmi!” Joshua snapped his eyes over to her as she approached the table, shutting his phone off and standing up from the chair to greet her properly.

“Hi there,” She smiled at him and internally cringed at the awkward wave of her hand, “I hope I’m not late. I-I got a little lost along the way and I just-.”

“Huh? Lost?”

She pinched her eyebrows together in confusion as she swallowed down the lump quickly building in the back of her throat again, shuffling her feet from side to side.

“I-uh was meeting Hoshi here but I don’t know where he is. He was supposed to be here by now,” Joshua rubbed at the back of his neck as the tips of his ears pricked with redness.

“You’re meeting Hoshi here? He texted me and said yesterday that you had wanted to meet me here today?”

She was just as confused as he was. She pulled out her phone and brought up the text message sent to her last night to confirm for herself that she wasn’t going crazy before turning her phone towards Joshua.

His eyes scanned over the messages between the two, his lips forming a frown as he tapped on his own phone to see the illuminated twelve o’clock displayed across his lockscreen.

“That little-,” He let out a sigh, closing his eyes briefly before his face softened and grinned at her, “I’m assuming this is our lunch meeting.”

“I guess it is,” The awkwardness seemed to fizzle out as she smiled and nodded her head, tucking her phone away and loosening the grip she had on her bag strap. She reached her hand out to pull out the back of the chair but was stopped almost instantly by a much larger hand grazing hers.

“Wait, let me get that for you,” He was quick to move around the table, gripping the metal rung and scooting the chair backwards. Anna’s cheeks redden at his actions, thanking him quickly before shouldering off her purse and sitting down into the chair, hanging her purse off of the empty seat beside her.

“This place is actually really nice.” She looked around the café with bright eyes. It was a little on the rustic side, shades of brown complimented each other with random pops of greenery scattered around accenting everything together, “I’m loving the cozy vibe.”

Joshua dipped his head down in a laugh, rubbing the back of his neck out of shyness, “Yeah, I heard about this place from Hoshi actually.”

“He seems to have orchestrated everything,” Anna could feel herself grinning as she thanked Joshua when he handed her the tabletop menu to have a look at.

“Yeah, yeah he definitely has his nose everywhere.” He agreed with an echoed laugh.

She took her bottom lip between her teeth, biting down gently as she studied over the menu. Everything looked and sounded delicious, it was hard to choose.

“Well, what are you thinking of getting? It might make this decision a little easier to pick something-,” Anna did another quick sweep over the menu before pulling her eyes away looking up, her cheeks instantly heating up when she had caught sight of Joshua’s eye’s lingering on her and the faintest smile on his lips, “What is it?”

“I-I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to stare, I was just...um-,” His cheeks mimicked her redness as he licked his lips and looked away quickly.

“No it’s okay!” She smiled at him as she laid the menu down on the table. Joshua turned back towards her and the butterflies in her stomach fluttered as he swiped a hand through his hair out of nervousness. She wasn’t going to mention to him that she had found it endearing.

“I was thinking of maybe getting this breakfast sandwich,” He drew her attention down towards one of the many pictures scattered across the menu showing the top rated foods, “If it’s anything like the picture, then I’m sure it’s gonna taste incredible.”

“It’s decided! Let’s make it two then!”

As they waited for their order to be called, her eyes dropped down to his phone set off on the side of the table, focusing her attention on the crack at the top of the screen, “Was that from me? I swear I’ll pay to have it fixed!”

His eyes widened as he took a sip from his coffee, shaking his head rapidly when her finger grazed over the obvious crack. He swallowed down his coffee, giving her a warm smile, “Anna, you’re gonna worry yourself crazy. I promise, don’t worry about it.”

His hand laid gently on top of hers, pulling her attention up towards him instead of on his phone after noticing her eyes not leaving the device. Her lips curled upwards into a small smile as she nodded her head, “You’re right, sorry- I mean, sorry-.” Anna closed her eyes in defeat, a sharp grin forming on her mouth knowing she wasn’t ever going to win the battle.

Joshua brought his hand up to shield his laugh away the best he could, tilting his head backwards on the chair.

Containing themselves together, Joshua’s hands clasped together as he rested his elbows on the table. In an attempt to calm her nerves down again, she copied his stance on the table, the two of them grinning back and forth at each other.

“Right, let’s play twenty questions. I’d ask where you were from but your accent kinda gives it away.”

“Is it really that noticeable?” Anna’s eyes crinkled as she joked back, scrunching her nose up into a laugh when Joshua pulled his thumb and pointer finger together to indicate a small amount, “Okay my turn, I actually don’t know this but I’ll ask it, where are you from? It’s so boring I know.”

“Hey, it’s still a question! And Los Angeles, born and raised. I moved here when I was seventeen? Eighteen? I honestly can’t remember anymore.”

Anna’s eyes perked up when he mentioned LA, with some of her relatives living there, she used to frequent visiting as often as she could, “I’ve always loved LA. I can’t really say it’s much different to Sydney though.”

“Hmm let me think,” Joshua rested his palms on the table as he leaned back in his seat, “Favorite childhood memory?”

“Ooo okay!” Anna grabbed her phone and went to the pictures app, opening up a folder containing pictures of her and her family, scrolling through until she found the ones that she needed to go along with the story. She flipped the phone around for Joshua to view them better, letting him flip through the pictures.

“So my dad works at a wildlife rescue and there were always a few animals that unfortunately couldn’t be released back into the wild for whatever the reason, so they housed and took care of them at the rescue,” Joshua looked up at Anna with a warm gaze, letting her know that he was listening, “Sometimes when I would come after school, my dad would let me hold the orphaned baby animals and I’d get to help feed them and play with them.”

“Look at you!” Joshua turned the phone around and showed the image of Anna sitting on the floor playing around with a baby kangaroo, “That’s so neat! I bet you were popular in school!”

“Everyone definitely wanted to be my friend after knowing I got to play with the animals.” She smiled at the memory as he continued to flip through the pictures.

He handed Anna back her phone after he was finished and without even skipping a beat, “Next time I visit, I’ll take you with me and we can go visit my dad!”

Anna’s eyes widened when she realized what she had said, her cheeks blushing a shade of light crimson, “O-Only if you’d want to that is!”

“Are you kidding? That would be an amazing experience.”

Anna cleared her throat as she smiled back at him, “Okay your turn, favorite childhood memory?”

Before he even had the chance to respond back, their order number was called from the front counter, pulling them both back into reality of where they were and what they were actually doing.

After leaving the café, the two of them had exchanged numbers and continued their game of twenty questions which in turn became forty questions the entire way home, going back and forth between the two of them.

“I guess Hoshi knew what he was doing,” Anna smiled down at her lap as another text message from Joshua came through.

‘Had a nice time today! :)

Would love to do it again sometime!

Get home safely!’

“Hmm, Soonyoung?” Jihyo’s puzzled face went unnoticed by Anna as she was too busy texting a message back to Joshua. She pulled her bottom lip between her teeth as she went back and forth on what to text back, deciding on something short and sweet.

‘Sure will! :) & I would like that very much!’

Anna leaned her head back against the headrest as she stared out of the window, a smile plastered to lips as she clutched her phone between her fingers, watching the trees and buildings pass by in a blink of an eye, taking in a deep breath and letting it out slowly.

Damn.

Seulgi had decided to go with Yeri to the TWICE dorms. They went mainly cause she knew the maknae wanted to see Nayeon and Chaeyoung but also because Seulgi was curious about a specific member.

She remembers when they first met at the SM building. The girl was amazing in SM rookies for her Vocals as well as her rap skills. She was close with Joy as well. A few months later before Seulgi could find out more about her she disappeared.

Well not disappeared but she left SM, it wasn’t until Joy had got her into watching the survival show SIXTEEN did she see her again. It was like she did a full 180 of how she looked. She was barely recognizable.

Now here she was, sitting in the living room, as her youngest member seemed to be in a funny conversation with Chaeyoung. Seulgi was quiet as she listened.

“Hey Chae. Sooyoung wanted me to ask you something.” A voice said making Seulgi look up.

Damn.

It was her. The girl Joy was best friends with, the girl who used to be in SM, the girl whose voice was like honey and had a raspy voice when she rapped. The girl who had the power to make everyone look at her with just the way she walks, the girl who looked way different from SIXTEEN. Almost as if she went through another change.

Damn.

That was all Seulgi could think. Her hair was currently a ginger blonde, which was different from her usual black hair. It wasn’t long but it also wasn’t too short, stopping right at her chest highlighting her gorgeous features. The way her body looked made Seulgi see stars, she looked different than the girl who was in the TT music video.

Her voice deeper than Seulgi had thought, raspy almost. She noticed a small tattoo that was on her stomach. It looked to be a small spider? Seulgi couldn’t tell but she knew wanted to run her fingers down her waist pulling her closer to her.

She didn’t even notice that it was just her and the girl in the living room now. She snapped out of it when the girl spoke again. “Seulgi right? I remember you. Joy’s other member.” Seulgi ran her tongue over her teeth as she admired her from up close. She wore a red crop top that looked to have who she thinks was spider man on it? Paired with black sweatpants. Seulgi nodded as she remembered the question she had asked. “I liked how you looked in your last music video. You guys did good.” She seemed to be so relaxed around Seulgi as if they’ve known each other for years.

Damn.

Seulgi rested her hand on the girls thigh making the girl look down and then back up at Seulgi. “You look different from when I last saw you. Back when you were in SM rookies…you caught my attention more than everyone.” She leaned closer making the girl blush slightly as she looked at her. The girl brushed her fingers over Seulgi’s cheek almost making Seulgi’s confident persona falter. Almost.

“I know. Tell me…..how long have you thought about me?” The girl moves closer to Seulgi’s lips to where Seulgi could feel her breath on them. Seulgi bit her lip slightly as she glanced from her eyes to her lips. “A lot…mainly after you went on SIXTEEN and the Ooh Ah music video…you’re Korean is amazing despite you living in China for so long.” the girl smiled as she almost closed the distance between them, she got up before they even got a chance to kiss. “Ask Joy for my number…you’re interesting.”

Damn.

Before Seulgi could respond, the girl left the room leaving Seulgi there a bit dumbfounded. Yeri came back in this time with Nayeon, Jihyo, and Chaeyoung. Seulgi was quiet as she listen to the 3 girls conversation. She made sure to get the girls name from Jihyo before she left. “That’s just Jia! Or if you wanna use her real name Jiyoung.”

Jiyoung a pretty name for an even more gorgeous girl and the stage name Jia sounded innocent almost as if to mask the girls flirty nature.

When she got back to the dorm she got Jia’s number from Joy and texted her.

“Meet up with me after my photoshoot tomorrow?”

She stared at her phone desperate for a response as she saw the 3 bubbles indicating she was typing.

“Sure.”

Seulgi couldn’t help but smile to herself.

Damn.

Who knew that Jia the 10th member of TWICE would be this interesting.

''Hey! Don't touch me, I have a girlfriend.'' Jeongguk drunkenly protested, prying the unwanted arms from his body. ''Stop, please!''

''Are you serious right now?''

''Stop! That's not cool, I have a girlfriend!'' He tried moving away from the displeasing touches, the woman in front of him not seeming to get the hint that he wasn't that kind of a guy.

Jeongguk's vision must have experienced some huge errors after those countless refills of his beer, because he had no reason to shy away from the person who found him lying on his couch.

Jieun had made her way to Jeongguk's apartment after spending almost an entire day at the company. The endless recording and practicing had taken almost all the energy from her body, the only small amount that was left was reserved for the man who had been bugging her for the last hours to come back home.

Ever since Jin had been enlisted into the military, her boyfriend hadn't been too keen on really doing anything that consisted of going outside. She was happy that he was resting so well, but the man hadn't seen sunlight for almost a week now. His days were spent watching Netflix, ordering food and taking care of Bam.

So as she walked into his apartment, she expected to find the same image that she had seen all week; Jeongguk eating in front of the tv with Bam. However this day, it was quite a different sight.

Bam greeted her at the door, nothing out of the ordinary. What was out of the ordinary, was the lack of noise from her boyfriend. She could hear something playing on the tv, but nothing from Jeongguk's side.

Upon walking into the living room, she was met with a disoriented man mumbling inaudible things to himself, while he laid face down on the couch. The empty soju bottles and half-full beer glass indicated the singer had had a fun time on his own.

Jieun tried getting him up and into his bed, but that's when the man started opposing and tried pushing her arms away. He didn't recognize her.

She might as well have fun with this.

''A girlfriend, huh? Tell me about her.''

Jeongguk let out an unexpected snort. ''Why do you want to know about her?'' Before Jieun could even reply, he continued. ''She's- she's so fine.'' He smirked to himself.

''I don't know how to begin, she's just- ugh, so perfect. She has everything you could want in a person, you know? When I first saw her, we were like 18, I was like damn,'' that last thing made both of them laugh, a sudden American accent coming out, ''she smiled at me, well at us, my hyungs were there too. I don't know what she thought of me, to be honest. I thought she was beautiful, she was hot- she was so hot. She- she had this leather jacket on, her hair was down and she still had to get her make-up done. I watched her while she sat in the stylist's chair, I thought she looked like the most beautiful thing in the world.''

''I love her so much, I should tell her more that I do. That's why you can't touch me or kiss me, you know? I'm not a cheater, I don't do that. It would hurt her a lot and I don't want to do that. I would never do anything to hurt her, that- that would kill me.''

''Don't tell her I said this, but- I, uh, I think I'm gonna marry her someday. Well, I don't think, I know I'm gonna marry her. I would be an idiot not to.''

Jieun watched him in awe, speechless at the confession he just gave. She knew that Jeongguk loved her, that was an obvious given. However, she didn't know how much he actually loved her and how he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her.

His declaration of love must have sobered him up as he finally noticed her return. ''Ji- Jieunie? You're back, oh, I missed you so much.'' His arms quickly found their way around her and he left kisses all over her face.

''Yeah, you look like you had fun over here.'' She dramatically glanced at all the empty bottles on their coffee table.

He followed her eyes, grinning shamelessly. ''We did, didn't we Bam?'' The boy joined them on the couch upon hearing his name, safely putting himself in-between Jeongguk and Jieun.

''I'm gonna get you some water and aspirin, and afterwards you can clean all your mess up.'' She wanted to get up and head to the kitchen, but her boyfriend stopped her. ''No~,'' he whined, ''don't go, you just got here.''

Jieun got up anyway, pressing a short and sweet kiss against his lips. ''You know, the first time I ever saw you, I thought you looked really good in those jeans you were wearing.''

''Hell yeah, I did.''

[BREAKING NEWS] TWICE's JADE is officially part of JYPE's production team.

On this Friday, February 24th, JYP Entertainment released an oficial note announcing that TWICE's Jade is now not only their idol, but also part of their production team.

Jade has produced over 50 songs for the company so far under her pseudonyms "BaeJae" and "BJ", including kpop hits like "What is Love?" (TWICE), "God's Menu" (STRAY KIDS), "Wannabe" (ITZY), and more, including her fellow member's solo, POP! (Nayeon).

On the note, JYPE stated that:

"[...] Although Jade has been involved in the production process since her trainee days, being an essential part of our company, as an all-rounder artist and amazing self-made producer. Is our honour to announce that Bae Jaidee is now officially one of our producers. We hope we keep to work together and making more hits."

On the same note, JYPE announced that Jade's first work as one of their producers is the general production of TWICE's sub-unit, "MiSaMo", set to debut on July 26th, 2023.

We wish Jade a lot of love and happiness for this new achievement!

> jina pays nayeon a visit to show support for her solo debut.

the time on jina's phone showed that it was well past one in the morning when she reached the filming studio, where nayeon had spent the entire day recording the music video for 'pop!', the title track of her upcoming solo debut. the korean-japanese girl herself had had a busy day, packed with schedules, but although she had completed the last thing she needed to do about an hour ago, she had yet to go home. no, not when she knew her oldest unnie was still at work alone.

she crept up the stairs that led to the older's dressing room, looking over her shoulder at the manager following behind her, who was holding a video camera to film her, while putting a finger to her lips as a way to ask the woman to be quiet. she paused at the top of the staircase, lowering herself a little to stay out of sight from the people in the dressing room.

“it was nice of momo and chaeyoung to stop by so late earlier,” one of the staff members in the room said. “jina is the only one who hasn't come to see me.” jina could hear nayeon speaking in a slight whiny voice. although she couldn't see nayeon yet, jina could just imagine the pout her unnie was currently wearing, and the thought made her silently giggle. “well, she was really busy today, so it's understandable...but still, i miss her. i wonder if she's home yet...”

facing the video camera, jina placed her hands over her heart to convey that she felt touched. she gestured to the manager to follow her, before she continued making her way to the dressing room, poking her head in to make her presence known. nayeon whipped her head around to the door when she spotted movement in the corner of her eyes, and jina could see the way the older's face lit up with joyful surprise upon realizing that it was her.

“pups!” nayeon called out in a high-pitched voice, getting up from the chair she was previously sitting on to approach jina with her arms open wide. happily, jina met her halfway, the two embracing in a tight hug. “unnie, how are you? has filming been going well? you must be really tired.”

nayeon pulled away from the hug to grin at jina, the latter smiling affectionately when she saw the former's bunny teeth. “i'm feeling much better now that you're here. we're almost done, just one scene left for today,” nayeon told her. “it's already so late, aren't you going home?”

“i wanted to visit you first,” jina answered. “and i figured i might as well wait for you to finish up, so we can go home together.”

nayeon's jaw dropped a bit hearing this, a look of shock in her eyes. “are you kidding? this could still take hours! you don't have to wait up, really.” concern was evident in her tone of voice, but jina simply shrugged. she had the whole day off tomorrow anyway, so she had no problem staying up just a little longer to accompany nayeon. “i don't mind, unnie. i want to do this,” she reassured the older, who pouted and pulled her in for another hug.

“why are you being so sweet like this, pups?” nayeon whined, making jina chuckle in amusement.

sitting on a plastic chair, jina watched from behind the camera as nayeon shot the last scene scheduled to be filmed for the day. it had already been a couple of hours since jina had first arrived, but she still wasn't sure if nayeon was close to finishing yet. nevertheless, she stayed seated there and waited, stretching her back out from time to time and occasionally giving nayeon a thumbs up or two in between takes, just to give her the strength for the last push. finally, the director announced the final take, and jina visibly perked up—at the moment, she wanted nothing more than for nayeon and herself to go home and finally get some much-needed and well-deserved rest.

once the camera stopped rolling after the last take, jina stood up and joined in on the applause to end the day, bowing to and thanking the staff members present. she walked up to nayeon who slumped her shoulders in exhaustion upon seeing her. "i wanna go home," she murmured, leaning forward against jina. “we are, don't worry,” jina told her while smiling softly and rubbing her back soothingly. “you did so great today, unnie.”

with nayeon out of her costume and allowed to leave, she dramatically trudged towards the car with an arm draped over jina's shoulders. although she truly was exhausted, she couldn't help but exaggerate her fatigue so jina would have to drag her, just to annoy the maknae a little. jina rolled her eyes playfully, knowing what nayeon was doing—it was evident in the smile she was failing miserably to hide—but she stayed quiet until they were finally in the car.

“gosh, what a day,” nayeon sighed out as she slumped back into the car seat, turning her head just enough to look at jina next to her. “thank you for staying,” she whispered.

“of course, unnie.” jina's voice was as soft as the smile she wore while she gazed at nayeon. “i'm always with you, even when you're soloist nayeon instead of twice nayeon.” she grinned at her own words, a rather cheeky one at that, while nayeon could only let out an amused scoff.

nayeon's journey as a soloist was just beginning, but jina swore that she, just like the rest of twice, will be there for her every step of the way.

origin stories - mina

“nayeon, no! i told you not to do that!”

despite the rise in her voice, jeongyeon wasn't actually angry, and nayeon knew that. a little frustrated? maybe. annoyed? kinda. but angry? far from that.

after being adopted by jeongyeon and jihyo, nayeon had settled into her new home pretty quickly, which meant after a few months, she had already gotten very comfortable. perhaps even a little too comfortable. comfortable enough to know that even if she caused some mischief every now and then, her owners would still love her. that even if she knocked down a potted plant or chewed up some parts of the furniture, she'd still get all the pets and cuddles and treats she could ask for.

both jeongyeon and jihyo had grown incredibly fond of nayeon in no time. they gave her one of their spare bedrooms so she'd have space all to herself, but the bunny hybrid ended up being attached by the hip to them whenever they were home. she'd sit on the kitchen counter to watch jeongyeon cook, and snuggle up on jihyo's bed as she studied at her table. the more they grew to love the hybrid, naturally, the more they pampered her with gifts and attention and affection, although they never meant to spoil her.

nayeon had chewed up one of the armchairs once, and both jihyo and jeongyeon gave her a good scolding after they found out. but nayeon looked so sad and guilty afterwards, that the two of them couldn't help but go soft on her. ever since then, nayeon knew she could get away with pretty much anything.

that's how they ended up with a brat of a bunny hybrid in their hands.

nayeon would never do anything to greatly upset her owners of course, she just enjoyed messing with them from time to time. such as at that very moment.

jeongyeon sighed as she cleaned up the leaves that nayeon had chewed up and plucked out from one of the plants in the living room. “i'm beginning to think you have much more energy than jihyo and i can keep up with,” she said as she looked at nayeon, who put on an innocent grin, causing jeongyeon to shake her head. as she stood up to throw the leaf pieces away, an idea came to mind. “how about we get you a friend?”

“a friend?” nayeon questioned, tilting her head curiously. “yeah, a friend. as in, another hybrid for you to play with when jihyo and i can't play with you. so you won't resort to destroying the furniture,” jeongyeon explained, laughing when she saw nayeon scrunch up her nose slightly at the idea. “what's this i hear about another hybrid?” jihyo asked as she emerged from the hallway that led to the bedrooms, an eyebrow raised as she eyed jeongyeon suspiciously. “i was thinking that we could adopt another hybrid to help keep nayeon in check,” jeongyeon told her. “what do you say?”

“keep nayeon in check? what if they end up adding to her energy and encouraging her mischief instead?”

“then we'll have to adopt a calmer one. maybe a cat hybrid? i heard they're generally calm.”

“i'm not sure about this, jeong...nayeon is already a handful. can we handle another hybrid?” jihyo asked doubtfully, her eyebrows furrowed. “i'm positive that we can!” jeongyeon grinned. “hey, no way!” nayeon squeaked in protest after having enough of the conversation, pouting slightly as her ears drooped. “i don't want another hybrid in the house, i love it being just us.” jeongyeon exchanged a glance with jihyo before looking at nayeon again. “it could be a good thing for all three of us,” she began to reason, but nayeon vigorously shook her head. “nope! i'm not sharing you two!”

after that evening, jihyo and jeongyeon never brought up the topic of adopting another hybrid again, much to nayeon's satisfaction. little did the bunny hybrid know, that her two owners were discussing the matter privately, without her knowing.

after roughly a week, they finally decided that they were going to adopt another hybrid. ideally, a calmer one to balance out the energy that nayeon brought to the house. they told nayeon that they were going out to run some errands one saturday morning, before they left to a local hybrid shelter. upon arriving, they told a staff member that they were looking for a calmer hybrid to take home, and he led them to the cat hybrid section.

“this one's new to the shelter,” he stated as he led them past cage after cage of cat hybrids. “he's very friendly but very calm too.” jeongyeon and jihyo looked around as they walked, at the numerous hybrids who meowed and pressed themselves up against the front of their cages in hopes of getting the two potential adopters' attention. however, before they even reached the hybrid that the employee was talking about, jeongyeon halted in her tracks, gently grabbing jihyo's arm to stop her as well. raising an eyebrow curiously, the latter followed the former's gaze to see what had caught her eye.

curled up in the back corner of the cage right next to the two girls, was a cat hybrid, with large black ears and a matching long and sleek black tail. while the other hybrids did all they could to draw attention to themselves, this one didn't appear to be bothered. instead, she kept to herself, purring just loud enough to be audible as she cuddled a small teddy bear. there was something about her that was drawing both jihyo and jeongyeon to her.

“oh, that one?” the man asked as he walked back to the two, noticing their interest in the black cat hybrid. “she's calm alright, but she isn't very friendly or affectionate. quiet little thing, doesn't like to play with the other hybrids much either,” he told them.

“she was dropped off here, about a year ago? almost a year ago? somewhere along those lines. no one's really interested in such a passive hybrid so she's been here in this shelter ever since.”

hearing that, jeongyeon and jihyo wordlessly exchanged a look, knowing exactly what the other was thinking, because they each were thinking the exact same thing. “can we talk to her?” jihyo asked the staff member.

as she drove back to the house, jihyo glanced in the rearview mirror, smiling to herself when she saw the sweet black cat hybrid purring while jeongyeon stroked her hair in the backseat. once she was let out of her cage, the two's conversation with the hybrid didn't last very long. all they did was introduce themselves, ask her if she had a name—she did, it's mina—asked her if she'd be okay living with another hybrid—an energetic bunny hybrid, to be exact—and finally, they asked her if she wanted to come home with them. mina was, just as the shelter employee had warned them, rather quiet initially, only politely answering their questions, until it had dawned on her that she was being adopted. her eyes had lit up and she couldn't help the excited purr that rumbled in her throat. “you want to adopt me?” she had asked, sounding doubtful in spite of her own purring. “are you sure?”

“of course, sweetheart,” jihyo had assured her, her smile wide and welcoming. “we think you'd be perfect for us,” jeongyeon had added.

after filling in the paperwork and paying extra to speed up their application approval, enabling them to take mina home immediately, they were then happily bringing mina back home with them, the cat hybrid purring with joy throughout the entire journey as she reveled in head pets and chin scratches from jeongyeon, who had insisted on sitting in the backseat to accompany mina. arriving back home, jihyo went inside first while jeongyeon waited outside with mina, intending to inform nayeon about her new friend before actually introducing them.

“nayeon! we're home!” jihyo announced as she walked in, almost immediately hearing the thumping of nayeon's footsteps as she ran out of her room and to the front door. the bunny hybrid greeted her with a wide smile, which fell as soon as she caught a foreign scent on jihyo. “were you...with another hybrid?” she asked while narrowing her eyes suspiciously, her ears involuntarily twitching. jihyo let out a nervous chuckle. “yeah, about that...remember when jeongyeon suggested getting you a playmate? we, uh, already got her.”

hearing the news, nayeon's eyes widened, her jaw dropped, and her ears drooped. “you adopted another hybrid? after i told you not to?!” she questioned in disbelief, a whine in the tone of her voice as she pouted. “how could you?”

it was then when the front door opened, and jeongyeon walked in with mina tailing right behind her. the cat hybrid looked around half curiously and half nervously, her tail low and ears upright as she took in her new surroundings, before her gaze fell on nayeon. curious cat eyes met those of a taken aback bunny. “nayeon, meet mina,” jeongyeon introduced them. “mina, nayeon is the bunny hybrid we told you about.”

nayeon flinched when mina took a step closer to her, causing the cat hybrid's ears to flatten against her head in alarm as she quickly hid behind jeongyeon and jihyo to distance herself from the bunny. nayeon noticed this and, because she felt bad, took the initiative to lessen the space between herself and the cat hybrid. “um, hi? i'm nayeon,” she reintroduced herself hesitantly, her ears standing upright in surprise when she was met with a soft smile and gentle purring in response. “it's nice to meet you, nayeon. i'm mina. i can't wait to be friends with you!”

as mina brushed past nayeon to curiously explore her new home, gently nuzzling against her as she did so, the latter's gaze followed the former before she turned to her two owners, who looked at her expectantly. “i love her,” nayeon said while deadpanning. “i'm gonna protect her from anything and everything.”

at nayeon's reaction, jihyo sighed in relief, while jeongyeon let out an amused chuckle. “why don't you go show her around then?” jeongyeon suggested, rewarding nayeon with a scratch behind one of her ears before the bunny hybrid scurried off towards mina, eager to show her new friend around the house.

“we made the right choice, didn't we?” jihyo asked, crossing her arms over her chest while she watched nayeon guide mina around the living room. jeongyeon wasn't sure if jihyo meant their decision to adopt mina specifically, or their decision to get another hybrid in general. but either way, she couldn't agree more. “we did,” she replied with a small nod, the two girls smiling widely. “we definitely did.”

this got wayyy longer than i intended it to be,,

i got carried away and i am not sorry for it at all

“You should’ve seen my face,” Anna’s eyebrows pinched together as she leaned back against the couch, her phone resting on her knee while she facetimed Ten. She was expecting Hoshi over at any minute but figured while she waited, she could answer Ten’s call from earlier.

“I was so mortified Tennie.” She patted the spot next to her for Honey to jump up and lay down beside her.

“I’m sure he knows it was an accident,” He frowned in sympathy, “And to be fair, he ran into you just as much as you did to him.”

“Yeah but-,” She pouted her lips, tilting her head back against the cushion to groan in what felt like agony, “I don’t know. I was just stupid.”

“No, don’t say that,” He stood up from where he was on his own couch, moving into his bedroom when his members started entering the dorm, “You’re the smartest person I know.”

“Thanks Tennie, I really do appreciate it,” She smacked a hand against her forehead, smiling down at Honey as she wiggled around on the couch, “We haven’t interacted much beforehand and the one time we’re face to face.”

She hears Ten chuckle on the other side of the screen and she honestly doesn’t blame him. It was such a ridiculous scenario that she was so upset over yet here she was. She glanced down at her phone when a message caused it to vibrate against her leg. Hoshi texted her that he had arrived and was on his way up.

“As much as I’d love to stay and talk, I have to sadly say goodbye. Hoshi is almost here and I promised that we’d go out to eat somewhere.”

“That’s good, maybe he’ll talk some sense into you since you won’t listen to me,” Ten brought his phone closer to his face to say goodbye properly with a smile on his face, “Have a nice meal! Eat lots and I’ll talk to you again soon Annie!” He waved at the camera as did she, disconnecting from the call.

She leaned forward to lay her phone on the coffee table, flopping back against the couch with a huff, rolling her head over to the side to look down at Honey who was laying on her back, wagging her tail now that she had Anna’s attention.

“Your favorite person is coming over,” Anna scratched at Honey’s stomach as she was laid out on the couch cushion belly up. Her tail thumped against the cushion as Anna spoke to her. She knew how excited Honey got as soon as he was to knock on the door.

Almost like she had spoken it into existence, three knocks sounded at the door sending Honey flying off the couch to bark at whoever was on the other side. Anna quickly moved to the door, smiling at Hoshi as she let him inside, using her foot to gently keep Honey from bolting out into the hallway.

“Honey, I got you a present,” Hoshi’s voice was higher pitched as he spoke, digging into the bag resting in the crease of his elbow. He pulled out a little paw shaped cookie, feeding it to the dog waiting patiently at his feet. She happily accepted the treat, taking the cookie a few steps away to enjoy.

“She’s getting into the habit of wanting a treat every time I come home now thanks to you,” Anna grabbed the bag from Hoshi as he toed off his shoes and took off his coat, bringing it into the living room and setting it down on the coffee table.

“I passed by a little pet bakery on the way here and I had to stop in,” He defended himself with a raise of his hands, “You’re basically like my sister at this point, and that would make Honey like my niece. So, I’m going to treat her well every time I come over and you can’t stop me.” Anna rolled her eyes watching him as he washed his hands in the kitchen.

“Speaking of treating, this was supposed to be my turn to pay for the meal. We were supposed to go out,” Anna whined as she pulled out the boxes of fried chicken, two bottles of beer, and a container of spicy tteokbokki. Her favorites.

Hoshi cheekily smiled at her as he settled down on the floor, rubbing his hands together as his stomach grumbled hungrily, “You needed a pick me up so I got some of your favorites.”

Anna looked at him with a whine as she bit into the chicken, savoring the taste. He always knew how and what to do to pick her up out of a slump. She set the chicken down in the box, standing up quickly to retrieve the napkins she had forgotten to grab, handing a few off to him as she sat back down.

The two enjoyed the meal, talking about each other’s group and what upcoming activities planned. She was finding different things to talk about to stall, dreading bringing up what had happened backstage with Joshua and simply not wanting to go back to the memory but knowing deep down that she should. Hoshi was closer to him after all.

“Please tell me you told Jisoo I was so sorry about the other day,” Her eyebrows pinched together as she looked over at Hoshi. It was so cliché and she felt so stupid to even bring her coffee with her. It was all just one big mess from the get-go.

“Youngmi-ah,” He started, wiping his mouth with his napkin before speaking again, “I promise you he feels even worse.”

“He does?”

“Trust me when I say that’s all he talked about at practice. He couldn’t think straight and kept missing simple steps and making small mistakes that he almost never makes. Hell, he almost ran out to go buy you a new shirt since he ruined your other one so badly,” He took a swig from his bottle as Anna stared at him with wide eyes.

“But I-.”

She clamped her mouth shut when he held up a hand, a smirk playing on his lips, “He wants to meet up with you Youngmi, like really soon.”

A blush dusted her cheeks at the words. Soon? Her features softened the more she thought about it, Hoshi smiling and nodding his head as she put the idea together. She couldn’t help but feel all giddy inside.

“What does he mean by soon?” She welcomed Honey onto her lap, smoothing down her coat from where she had wriggled around on her dog bed.

“He said anytime that you’re free!”

“Did he mention where we would meet up?”

“There’s this new café that opened up not too far from here actually. We were talking about going to it the other day but we never made it over there before practice started.”

Anna nodded her head as started gathering their trash into the bag, “Oh yeah I think I’ve heard of it before. I can have Jihyo take me over there, did he mention a time at all?” She bit the inside of her cheek, suddenly being overcome with a wave of nervousness.

“I’ll have to get back to you on that.”

[Later that day]

“Shua-hyung,” Hoshi walked across the practice room with his hands clasped behind his back, smiling widely at the older sat against the wall.

Joshua picked his head up from his phone and smiled at Hoshi as he came closer, watching as he spun around and sat next to him on the floor, “What’s up?”

“There’s a new café close by opening up soon and I wanted to go check it out but no one else wants to go,” He brought a knee up and rested his arm against it. His lips formed a pout as he played with the hem of his shorts, “Can you please go with me.”

“I’m down! When are we going?”

“We’re free from schedules tomorrow right? How about then, maybe noon-ish?”

“Sure! Just text me tomorrow morning on where to be.”

“Hyung, you’re the best,” Hoshi giggled, giving Joshua a side hug, pushing himself off of the floor, “You’ll like it, I’m sure.”

He gave one last smile, turning on his heels and walking away from him, pulling out his phone and sending a text to Anna. She replied with two thumbs up and a kissy face. Hoshi giggled to himself as he slid his phone back into his pocket, doing a little dance in the back of his head. His plan to get them together was officially set into action. If they weren’t going to, than it was his mission as their best friend to help.

At the Idol Athletics Sports Competition, Maya and Jungkook were on the same team. Maya was in the semifinals for the wrestling competition against Apink's Hayoung.

When she beat her fellow female idol, Jungkook couldn't have acted any happier. He was seated on the ground next to his BTS member Jin and the moment she won, he jumped up and had a huge smile on his face. However, he was quickly embarrassed as the only other people to stand up for Maya were her Twice member and a few other teammates of theirs. Jungkook almost immediately sat back down again, much to the amusement of his members who watched his reaction.

During the Melon Music Awards in 2018, a commercial starring Maya was shown on the screen. Despite the Twice members not being present, the crowd went crazy as Maya appeared on the big screen.

The moment that went viral is when the commercial was done and the camera immediately cut to Jungkook gaping at the screen, seemingly admiring her. As soon as he saw his own face, he quickly looked down at his feet and a blush appeared on his face.

The reaction of the people around him also didn't help his shyness about the situation. His members immediately turned to him and started laughing at their youngest. The cameraman who was filming Jungkook was seen smirking, proud of himself for capturing the moment. The Blackpink members were also seen smiling as Jungkook's smitten face appeared on the screen before them.

The pair were guest MC's in a special episode of the music show, Music Core. Throughout the episode Maya wasn't shy of making eye contact with the male idol, meanwhile Jungkook felt a blush on his face each time their eyes met and he would quickly look away.

At the 2020 Golden Disc Awards, Maya was seen walking back to her seating space where her members were already sitting as she had gone to the bathroom. As she walked by the BTS members, she almost tripped over a wire that was loosely laying on the floor. Jungkook didn't hesitate and reached down to help with the wire, while Maya did the same thing.

Their faces were very close to each other and they made eye-contact with each other, resulting in both of them getting up straightaway, realising the position they were in. Maya was seen bowing to him and muttering a formal 'thank you', while Jungkook made his way back to his members.

BTS fans noticed that after his interaction with the Twice member, his smile didn't disappear from his face and that his members gave him teasing grins.

Jade looked at the mirror again, cleaning the tears that insisted on falling. At this point, after almost seven years as a kpop idol, she should be used to all of this, all this hate. But she didn't.

Actually, Jade never really understood why people hated her. Was it the fact that she was good? Was she even that good after all? Jade didn't know. But she knew words have meaning and, sometimes, they hurt.

If it was some years ago, she'd run and buy as many soju bottles as she could, but now things were just different. Still, this voice inside her head always made sure to remind her of all her weaknesses, all the times she failed, and made her think about all the chances she'd have to fail.

Jade looked at her wristwatch. She was inside that bathroom longer than she expected. The girls would soon start missing her in the practice.

Taking one more deep breath, she washed her face, hoping the cold water would reduce the swelling of crying for twenty minutes straight, fixed her mask, and went back to the practice room.

"And she's back!" Nayeon said, clapping, being the first to notice Jade was back.

Faking giggling, Jade fixed her hat, trying to pretend everything was fine and that it was just a pee break.

"At least it was a good break." Chaeyoung joked with Tzuyu as they got up, ready to start dancing again. "I felt like my legs were moving alone."

"You're lucky we're alone. If the managers were here we wouldn't even have breaks." Dahyun joked.

"Yeah," Jade agreed. "let's just end this. I want to go home."

"Don't we all?" Sana also joked, puffing, making the girls laugh with her.

Somehow, in the middle of all that laughter, Momo realised something was off. Jade was different from when she left the room asking for a quick break.

"Hey," Momo lightly grabbed Jade's arm, Jade humming in response. "are you okay?"

Jade forced a giggle, trying to pretend she didn't know why Momo was asking her that. Her puffy face was definitely giving it up.

"Sure!" Jade smiled through the pain.

"Jaidee, don't lie to me." Momo said with a warm smile. "It's me you're talking to."

That was it for Jade. As all the emotions hit her all at once again, Jade just lowered her head, allowing the tears to fall and show how she was truly feeling.

"Guys..."

She heard Momo calling the other girls as she walked to the couch. Jade tried to hide her face with any of the pillows there as the girls started crawling around her.

"Oh, Jade?" Jade heard Jeongyeon ask, almost whispering, scared of the girl's reaction.

"What happened?" Mina asked, caressing Jade's now caramel hair.

They all stayed quiet, listening to Jade's sobs filling up the room. None of the members had ever seen her in that state before. Of course, they saw her crying but never so... vulnerable.

They looked at each other, trying to figure out who would be the first one to ask what happened. Was it Johnny? Was it her family? Was it their early jokes? No one knew. But they all knew one thing: Jade needed help.

"Everyone h-hates me!" Jade mumbled against the pillow, sobbing.

"No!" the girls said together.

"Don't say this, Jade. We love you!" Nayeon said, running her arm around Jade's shoulder.

"No, guys." Jade said, looking at the girls and taking her mask and hat off. That was when the girls realised how bad she was. "Didn't you see w-what people are t-talking about me?"

The girls looked at each other again, trying to understand. Then, Jihyo's sighed.

"The contract." she said, linking things. "The company announced we renewed our contracts today."

"Oh..." Dahyun said, calling the girls' attention to her, and she showed her phone display. She tried to hide it as Jade was also looking. "People are loving you, Jade."

"Stop lying, Dahyun!" Jade suddenly said. "People hate me all these years. I'm starting to regret renewing that fucking contract."

"Don't, unnie!" Chaeyoung said, supporting her chin on Jade's lap and hugging her legs. "Don't listen to them. We're not TWICE without you."

"Stop, Dahyun." Jade covered her ears and started crying again.

"Jade, listen." Momo took Jade's hand out of her ear and looked straight at her. "Calm down. We're here to help you, but you need to calm down and tell us what happened."

"I happened, unnie!" Jade exploded. "Stop pretending you guys don't know what happens every time something about the group goes out. People hate me and make thousand of petitions for me to leave. I just..." Jade sighed. "I can't do this anymore."

"We know words hurt, Jade." Jeongyeon told her. "We are the living proof of this. But, if you listen to everything everyone has to say about you, you won't ever show your true value."

"I've been doing this since when I was fucking fourteen, Jeongyeon. It feels like I can't breathe with all this weight on my shoulders." Jade tried to put her emotions into words, but the more she tried to explain, the more it'd hurt.

"Look at us, Jade." Sana asked. "People hate on things that shine. Look at all the things you had to go through to be here today. Years of training, a survival show. All the songs you produced and all the idols you helped so far."

"Your family is so proud of you, Jade. We are proud of you." Mina said, trying to comfort the girl. "If you want to quit, be honest with yourself because we know that you're bigger than all of these people out there. You just have to realise it yourself."

"And, if you want to quit, we'll be here for you. As we've always been." Tzuyu reassured Jade. "Just don't make anything you'd regret."

Jade took a slow glance around her. She has been living with these people since her teenage years. Some of them she only got to know at Sixteen, but it seemed like they've always been somewhere in her life as if Jade has always known them.

The confrontation turns into action. Escape turns into inertia, and Jade hated inert people.

It wasn't the first time she had thought of leaving the group. If that was supposed to happen, she'd have done this for bigger reasons than just people talking about her. Listen people saying that you're bad right at your face isn't a nice thing, but it surely was some gasoline for competitive souls like Jade's.

Yet, Jade felt like she had failed with the girls, with the people who supported her the most. And she couldn't ever forgive herself for that.

"I have no idea what to do next, guys." Jade honestly said, for the first time in years.

"That is called 'not being tough all the time'." Naeyon joked, hugging Jade again.

"We're not giving up on you, unnie." Chaeyoung said, still hugging Jade's leg. "TWICE will always be ten."

When Jade looked down and saw Chaeyoung looking like a little kid, she couldn't contain it and let out a laugh mixed with a cry, uncertain of how to react to the scene. The girls also realised Chaeyoung's position and started laughing, the tense atmosphere gradually fading away.

"Chae!" Jade whined. "Stop making me laugh."

"If that makes you stop crying, then, I'm okay." Chaeyoung said, clinging even more to Jade's leg.

Somehow, something inside Jade lighted up. You can be the greatest singer of all time, yet if you wake up with a hoarse voice on the day of your biggest show, it'd change everything. Yet, with all of the exhausting situations and hypotheses, Jade refused to leave the girls.

She didn't want fame. She didn't want fans. As long as she had the girls next to her, everything would be just fine.
