i write andre and peggy primarily based off of their characters in turn: washington’s spies (and my own headcanons), but i do also take inspiration from history. that being said, don’t expect total historical accuracy!

529: (proclaim) - favorite line?

I have a few that I couldn’t choose just one:

Caleb’s whole: “It ain’t treason if there’s good reason!”

Hewlett's emo moment when he’s meeting Andre and him saying “Every subject’s duty is the King’s, but every subject’s soul is his” really stuck with me because I feel like it’s such a compelling line for Hewlatt in s3.

Townsend’s line: “Those who sit on the picket fence are impaled by it.” & Townsend telling Abe “You are a boy playing a man playing a spy and each one is a lair.” It was a hasty comment meant to shrug off Abe’s persistence, but I think it’s accurate, too, in various ways. I just really like that line overall that I had it in my rp promo post and on my pinterest board for Abe.

I also stumbled across this gifset recently and I really love this line because while Rivington is a side character, we hardly ever see the softer/sensitive side of him. Usually he’s trying to charm everyone, but I think it shows that Rivington is not the villain some paint him out to be with his false reporting. I just found this whole dialogue here really compelling. It also fits in the whole “theme” turn tried to go with that there’s no black and white, good and bad, it’s all gray. Patriots might get more of a heroic light in books and films and redcoats/British are usually cartoonishly evil, that isn’t entirely the truth and there’s no solid “hero” or “villain” of both sides. I could go into the whole colonization of America as a whole here since America’s land is not ours, too, but I know people use tumblr as escapism, so I’ll steer away from that topic here and it has no connection to Rivington's line overall.

476: (part) - favorite season?

In my first watch of turn, I really liked s2. I do enjoy s3 and I like s1, as well. I don’t mind s4, but it’s not my favorite. But overall, I really like s2.

I liked the beginning section with Abe that really focused on spying since we all can admit, turn deserved more spying moments in its show, we had cute Annlett moments, and it was interesting to see Abe take on the role of trying to recruit Townsend when he for so long tried to get out of the spy ring. It was just an interesting view for me when writing Abe and I think with the change of setting, out of Setauket and in York City for most of that season, it was interesting to me. It also was the season that made me really like Hewlett because I wasn’t a fan of him in s1 and actually hated him a little lmao.

I would have to rewatch s2 to remember some stuff of the other characters than the ones I write, but I remembered that season having the most interesting storylines/plots for me in my first watch.
