Turn Week 2023:
Content Creator Appreciation Day!
Hi everyone! First off, I’d like to thank everyone for their shout-outs for today’s prompts. Words cannot describe how much I deeply appreciate them and all of the friends, followers, and readers who support my blog and my writing! Like I said in yesterday’s post, I had no idea how my first ever- official, let’s say- blog would go when I started posted in 2020. Since then, my life has changed for the better. I’ve become a better writer, a better historian in training, and I have a space to share my interests which I never thought was possible when it came to history. I’ve met some excellent people, and I wouldn’t change a thing.
Now time for some shoutouts!
@enchi-elm for undertaking this years Turn Week! A toast for taking this on and letting me help out! Your determination to continue our yearly streak is great! And for your past seasonal fanfic collaborations, which helped create one of my fav SS&SP scenes I’ve ever written!
@ms-march and @culper-spymaster my wonderful best friends I’ve met through this fandom. Your support has meant the world to me these past three years, especially when we met in 2020. Adrienne and Levi are my lovely stepchildren and it’s so rewarding seeing your growth as writers. Thank you, Susan, for being a mom friend like no other, and thank you, Clair, for daily daydreaming about our numerous AUs!
@viola-ophelia for organizing last years Turnsgiving, the very first! It was such a creative and unique event, and I had a blast participating!
@turnwashingtonsbaddies for hilarious, niche pop culture post for the fandom and for all the chronically online people in it. Your horse girl posts live in my mind rent free.
@lottiematthcws for new, beautiful turn gifs in the year of our lord 2023! It’s always a pleasure to go into the tag and see a new set we can all reblog :)
@musicboxmemories @honorhearted for supporting me and talking to me about all things writing, history, and Seth! Your meta posts on Benjamin are some of the best analysis I’ve seen of him, and your gifs of how pretty he is are always an inspiration!
@arrthurpendragon who runs @ocappreciation and dedicates so much time to supporting OC creators and making them feel their worth, while having her own Turn OC, Lydia Woodhull!
I’m sure there’s people I’m forgetting but just know you’re all keeping this little fandom kicking! Keep up your posting and have a great day!

Turn Week 2023:
My Origin Story!
Hi! It’s me, tallmadgeandtea, aka Amanda, and happy Turn Week 2023! Sometimes, it’s hard to believe I haven’t always been in this fandom or had this blog, but anyways, to quote my mother’s favorite movie: Let’s start at the very beginning. A very good place to start.
When I was a child, I was a fan of Liberty’s Kids, also known as the gateway drug for becoming interested American history. I was so obsessed I forced my entire class to watch it but THATS IRRELEVANT AND EMBARRASSING, OKAY. That year, I said I wanted to be a historian in my school’s yearbook, which was cute but also a bit…. Weird… of me. Yeah, I liked history before Hamilton, AND before Turn! (Wow, what a cool brag.)
I’ve seen a couple people say the started Turn but gave up during the pilot and, well, I was one of those people. I tried watching it before my very first trip to Colonial Williamsburg, and I don’t even think I got ten minutes in? I definitely don’t remember seeing Benjamin in his blue and gold or covered in dirt and blood, so…
But, a couple years later- late 2019 if we’re being exact- I decided to start a book called Alex and Eliza. I only got a chapter in when I remembered there was a show on Netflix about the revolution, and I was like hey! Why not watch it? And by episode three, I was obsessed. I watched s1 in a week, and I actually started my turn fic- SS&SP- shortly after, which is insane to think about. Then I watched seasons 1 to 3 in a month, (on my phone, like a CRAZY PERSON) and I was like, well, now what? I loved everything about the show, but I didn’t know if there was a fandom or if I was just screaming into a void.
I lurked for a couple months on here before finally deciding to make my own Turn blog. I’d been on tumblr for years, but I never actually posted my own content and after years of being on fandom twitter, I was like, “Wait, how do people talk on here?” But I like to think I’ve figured it out! I decided on tallmadgeandtea because, well, it’s two things I love very much. And of course, 2020 happened, and I spent so much time on here talking about the show and getting to know everyone! It seemed like we were all finding the show and it gave us something to look forward to.
I started posting SS&SP and doing Turn and Teas, and the rest is history! Happy Turn Week 2023!

I’m sorry but I’ve been feuding with #that General since I was a child watching Liberty’s Kids. When 1780 happened? When he betrayed Sarah? I was personally impacted. Anyone who hurts my queen doesn’t deserve to be remembered in good faith.

A Little Message From Me (tallmadgeandtea)
Hello, everyone, it’s me, Amanda, aka tallmadgeandtea, aka the George Washington girl, aka that girl who won’t shut up about her OC.
Firstly, I want to say, thank you to everyone who participates in Turn Week 2021! I did not organize it, but I loved it- the prompts this year were awesome, and everyone who participated knocked it out of the park, proving that this fandom is still alive and kicking- much like the Continental Army... multiple times.. actually. I love this fandom, and I am so glad I was welcomed into it by all of you. Why am I getting sentimental, you ask? Recently, I hit 500 followers. Five! Hundred! Followers! I still can’t believe it, honestly. When I made this blog a little over a year ago, I had no clue what I was doing. I’d been on Tumblr for years, but I very rarely made my own posts. I was basically a Twitter person coming on here after I realized the Turn fandom didn’t really exist over there. I lurked the tag for as long as I could before I was like “Screw it, just make a blog!”
And then tallmadgeandtea was born, and I’m so glad I did it. Not only did this blog help me fall in love with history again, but it introduced me to this extraordinary group of people we have here. I have made some of my very best friends because of this blog, and I have the best followers and mutuals I could ever ask for. And, not only did you all welcome me, but more closely to my heart, you welcomed Elizabeth Walker and my darling SS&SP- which I actually published during Turn Week 2020. Elizabeth and her story means the absolute world to me, and I am elated that I have actual people who read it, like it, and let me talk about every. single. day. I love writing SS&SP and I love this blog.
On a different, slightly awkward note, I want to thank you all for sticking around during my many hiatuses of 2020. Life was shit, but I will never forget the kind messages and replies I got whenever I talked about my anxiety on here. Since the... events... of last year, this blog is basically the only thing keeping me at least somewhat sane, and I appreciate you all for still liking it even when I’m not so sane. I love making content and I’m so glad you all engage with it and like it. And I’m so glad I get to see everyone else’s wonderful content as well!
So thank you. Thank you for every follow, every note- every like and reblog and reply. Thank you for every ask sent. Thank you for letting me endlessly ramble about SS&SP and how I think George Washington is Hot. Thank you for letting me go on and on about my beloved Benjamin. Thank you for actually liking my music taste- which I can’t say for many people I know in real life. Thank you for interacting with each Tonight’s Turn and Tea. Thank you for reading any part of SS&SP- especially my one shots and long awaited chapters. Thank you to all the friends I’ve made- y’all are the best.
Five Hundred Followers. Seriously, thank you. Thank. You.
