Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani's First Song Tum Kya Mile Depicts Typical Bollywood Romance
The first song from Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani, Tum Kya Mile was released today (June 28). The song is said to be a homage to the late Yash Chopra.
Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani has been making buzz ever since the release of its teaser on June 20. The first song from the movie, Tum Kya Mile was released today (June 28). The music video features lead pair Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt romancing in snow-clad mountains while donning chiffon sarees on the vocals of Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal.
With Tum Kya Mile Arijit Singh, Shreya Ghoshal strike the right chords
Tum Kya Mile music video features Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh romancing in the snow-clad mountains of Kashmir. The video opens with the words "This season, fall in love" and goes on to show quintessential montages of the lead pair romancing while lip-syncing against the picturesque locations. Though the song was much anticipated by the audiences, it does not reveal much about the plot of the movie.
Tum Kya Mile reunites the trio of Arjit Singh, Amitabh Bhattacharya and Pritam. The three previously came together to work on the title track of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil as well as a song from the movie Channa Mereya. Shreya Ghoshal has also lent her vocals to the Alia Bhatt starrer song.
Tum Kya Mile was the first time Alia Bhatt was on set after giving birth
As per social media chatter, Tum Kya Mile was the first sequence of the film that Alia shot for post-giving birth. The actress gave birth to her daughter Raha on November 6 and bounced back to work soon after. Additionally, it was also the first time Ranveer Singh can be seen lip-syncing to a love song shot in the mountains.
The love ballad from Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani is reportedly a homage to the late Yash Chopra. The song has already garnered attention from social media after a teaser of the same was released on June 27. Much like Brahmastra's Kesariya, Tum Kya Mile has also already become an earworm even before the release of the full song.

The Alley Cat (re-uploaded)
So I cannot find my Thomas O’Malley short ANYWHERE on my blog (that’s happened a few times with shorts I’ve written that I’ve adored, and it makes me really upset)
So I thought I’d re-upload my short since I’ve been talking a bit about Thomas as a Jellicle, and his relationship with Tugger! I may end up turning this into a short fic, or write a sequel, but I’m not 100% sure yet.
So here’s the re-uploaded Alley Cat short!
(this features @dcjelliclequeen33‘s oc, Athena, aka the love of my life)
Jennyanydots and Skimbleshanks had four children.
Their oldest was a tom that they named Thomas. He had his father’s charming, easygoing nature, but his mother’s caring eye and warm nature.
Their next kitten was a queen who was given the name Athena, who was as protective as they came, and adored her big brother and parents.
Bombalurina and Demeter were their final two kittens, and they were both different and wonderful in their own way. Bombalurina was fierce and bright, energetic and bright, and, while Demeter loved her sister dearly, she was quieter, and chose to remain close to her siblings and friends.
The four siblings loved each other, and they loved their parents. Jennyanydots and Skimbleshanks were very proud, and very fond of their four kittens.
Thomas and Old Deuteronomy’s youngest son, the Rum Tum Tugger, got along like a house on fire, and the two were rarely seen out of reach of each other. It was not uncommon to hear the two singing at the top of their lungs as they ran through the Junkyard, the tom kittens laughing as they chased after each other.
“I like a chee-chee-chee-chee-rony like they make at home! Or a healthy fish with a big backbone!” Thomas would sing, a grin on his face as he tackled Tugger triumphantly, and Tugger would pout as he kicked the older tom off of him. “I’m Abraham De Lacy, Guiseppe Casey, Thomas O'Malley! O'Malley the alley cat!”
Tugger stuck his tongue out at Thomas as he escaped his grasp, his fluffy tail twitching as he shook out his still-growing mane. “The Rum Tum Tugger is a curious beast! My disobliging ways are a matter of habit!” He would strut about the Junkyard proudly as Thomas laughed at him, but he would simply ignore the laughter and continue dancing around. “If you offer me fish, then I always want a feast. When there isn’t any fish then I won’t eat rabbit!”
The two toms were as thick as thieves, and when Thomas wasn’t spending time with Tugger dancing around and singing, he would either be with his sisters, or with his father at the railway station. While Skimbleshanks did not outright state that he was doing it, both he and Thomas knew that he was training his son to be the next Railway Cat, and Thomas was more than honored to be offered to take his father’s place, when the far-off day came. Skimbleshanks was a spry tom, so Thomas was not afraid of the day his father would be Chosen coming any time soon.
Any plans of the future, however, were soon dashed by the revelation of Macavity’s madness, and his attack on his younger brother.
Thomas hated himself for not realizing what was happening sooner.
He should have seen the signs, he told himself.
He should have realized that Athena was pulling herself away from the family, that Demeter was becoming snappish towards their parents and towards Munkustrap, the tom she once cared so deeply for, and he should have realized that Bombalurina was becoming more reclusive, remaining only around Macavity and her sisters, rarely interacting with anyone else.
Watching Macavity disappear with his sisters broke Thomas’ heart, and he hated himself for not chasing after them.
“You can’t blame yourself, my dear.” Jennyanydots told him the night after everything happened, taking her son’s paw. “What happened was no one’s fault but Macavity’s.”
Thomas shook his head fervently, staring down at the ground. “I let them down, Mum. I was supposed to protect the girls, and I didn’t.” Skimbleshanks sat beside his son with a heavy sigh. “I can’t live with myself knowing that I could have stopped what happened.”
“We can’t change the past, lad.” Skimbleshanks said in a gentle but firm voice. “As much as we want to change everything, we cannot. We must live with our choices and our mistakes.”
“I can’t, Dad.” Thomas said, shaking his head as he covered his face with his paws in shame. “I was supposed to keep them safe from toms like Macavity.” He was ashamed, and he had failed completely. He was their big brother, he was supposed to have protected his little sisters.
And he didn’t.
A few weeks after Athena, Bombalurina, and Demeter left with Macavity, Thomas decided to leave the Junkyard.
It broke his heart leaving his parents, but the guilt was just too much. He couldn’t bear to hurt them anymore, to see the pain in their eyes as they walked around the near empty den, to see the pain in Munkustrap’s eyes every time he glanced at Tugger’s bandaged shoulder.
It was all too much, and Thomas couldn’t stand it.
“I promise I’ll send word whenever I can.” He said after making his decision, hugging his mother tightly and nuzzling into her shoulder.
Jennyanydots bit back a sob, stroking his fur lovingly. “Please, be safe, Thomas.”
Thomas nodded and stepped back, finding himself looking at his best friend.
“Are you sure there’s nothing I can say to get you to stay here?” Tugger asked, his arms crossed as he fiercely held back any emotion. Thomas reached out, placing a paw on his uninjured shoulder.
“I can’t… I’ve failed the girls, and I failed Mum and Dad, Tugs.” He said quietly, but Tugger couldn’t meet his eyes. Thomas shook the other tom gently. “I promise, Tugs, I’m not going to become like her. I’m not cutting off ties with you all. You’re my family, no matter what happens.”
Tugger glanced back up at him, and gave him a small, curt nod. “Come back when you can.”
Thomas rubbed their shoulders together with a smile. “I will.”
With a final goodbye to the Jellicles, Thomas left his home.
He traveled all around, leaving London to see the rest of England, travelling until he ended up in Paris, France. Many times, Thomas met kind humans who let him stay in their homes for a few days, even a few weeks if he was lucky. He could never be a real housecat like his mother, too much had changed for that to happen, so he remained in the streets, meeting up with fellow alley cats and singing loudly every night.
It was the one thing that Thomas could still do, the one thing that still made him feel like a Jellicle, even if he was miles away from home.
He would receive messages from his family via the mice that would make the journey between London and Paris, and he sent messages back, always promising that he would never become like the Glamour Cat, who had abandoned her family.
(His favorite mouse was one named Roquefort, and the mouse eventually decided to stay in Paris, hunkering down in a lavish mansion in one of the upper-class sections of the city. Thomas visited the mouse frequently, the two joking, singing, and sharing memories of the Junkyard into the night.)
When he received word that his sisters had returned to the Junkyard, Thomas knew that he needed to return home as well. He had been on his way, humming his song to himself, excited for the journey ahead, when he had met her.
Thomas had taken one look at the beautiful, pure-white queen and her trio of kittens, a precious white queen who was identical to her mother, a little black tom who sang loudly and proudly, and a little ginger tom who quite honestly looked as if he could have been Thomas’ own, and Thomas knew he’d never be able to part from them.
And that was perfectly fine with him.

bundle of love (alex turner x reader)
description: a very fluffy alex learns big news regarding your child-to-be
word count: 2.3k
warnings: none
she looks as if she’s blowing a kiss at me, and suddenly the sky is a scissor / sitting on the floor with a tambourine / crushing up a bundle of love
**************
When a muffled sound pulled you out of your sleep, you couldn’t help but roll your eyes and groan. For a brief moment you thought it might be something from outside, that when you rolled over in your bed you’d find your husband sleeping soundly, but you knew that just wasn’t the case. The sound was all too familiar for it to not have been Alex and the space behind you was all too cold for him to still be sleeping there. When you rolled over, you frowned at the empty place in the bed, and muttered a few profanities to yourself when you looked over at the clock.
“God dammit, Alex. 3 a.m.”
You huffed as you did your best to rise up out of bed - the large bump that was your stomach making things a bit more difficult than normal - before grabbing your silk house robe and slippers and shuffling towards your bedroom door. As soon as you opened it, the noise that had woken you became clear and far louder, causing you to once again mumble some not-so-nice words to yourself as you walked toward the living room.
“Al, it’s three in the morning. Can you please go to bed?” You nearly had to yell over the sound of your husband playing his guitar. When you had come around the corner into the living room, you found him on the floor with sheets of music and lyrics sprawled out everywhere, strumming an acoustic guitar.
“Hey, darling!” He chirped and smiled as you came around the couch and stood beside him, but his expression quickly changed. “I’ve woken you, haven't I?”
“Yes Alexander, you woke me. I don’t know how you thought you wouldn’t, with that bloody guitar and these thin walls.” You tisked, and put an arm on his shoulder.
He smiled sheepishly up at you and put an arm around both of your legs. “Would you mind helping me, for just a second? I wanna get this hook before I go to bed, and Miles isn’t here to be my tambourine-ist. I’ll only be a few minutes, I promise.”
You sighed and used the couch and his shoulder to support you as you lowered yourself onto the soft carpet beside him. “Fine. Maybe some of the musical talent will rub off on the baby if I’m around you while you’re working more.”
You looked at your husband to find him beaming down at your belly. Or, well, the thing growing in your belly. The sight made you smile as well, the way he looked at your future child was so sweet it put tears in your eyes, he had never looked at anything like he did at your bump. His sweet brown irises held a different sort of twinkle, the creases around his eyes seemed deeper yet softer, and his lips held a sort of content smile that could only be associated with unrequited love. He loved you, he loved the house the two of you owned, he loved the dog the two of you had adopted a few years back, but he loved nothing like you knew he loved your unborn child. He constantly had his hands on your stomach, feeling for little kicks and movements, he couldn’t help but smile any time you wore anything that showed your bump off, and - he didn’t know that you knew this - but sometimes at night after he thought you were asleep he’d lay next to your tum and sing softly to the baby. You thought it was absolutely precious and you could not wait to see the daddy-to-be’s face in a few months when your baby girl finally entered the world.
“Alright, darling. Here’s what I want you to do for me. Take this here tambourine, right, and just bang it along with what I’m playin’.” Alex passed you the instrument and gave you a tap on the thigh for encouragement. He gave you a little “one, two, three,” before beginning to strum his guitar, and within a few seconds you had caught onto the beat and began to play to the best of your ability. Alex wasn’t singing any lyrics, just humming a melody, and yet you thought it was one of the prettiest songs he had ever written. A large smile emerged on your face and you began to have a bit more fun playing the tambourine, bopping your head along and adding some fancy handwork to your playing.
You hardly noticed when Alex turned his attention to you, you were too caught up in your own little musical world to care about or acknowledge anything but the strumming of your lover’s guitar, his thick voice humming an unfinished melody, and the hiss of your tambourine. Alex’s face was lit up, his smile lines and crow's feet complimented his rosy cheeks, his tired eyes had a new sort of sparkle to them. When he stopped strumming abruptly and you were yanked out of your rhythm and back into the moment, you gave him a disappointed look.
“Why’d we stop? I was just starting to have fun!” You whined.
Alex let out a hearty laugh and pulled you close to him, so your head was resting in his shoulder and his arm was wrapped around you. “I got the hook, Love. You’re an absolute natural, only took me one try to find something that sounded right. Almost wanted to keep playing, though. You looked right gorgeous playin’ like that.” He placed a kiss on the top of your head.
You looked up at him with a look of adoration. He was so perfect, he always knew exactly how to send butterflies shooting through you, even years later. “Aw, Al.”
“I love you so much Sweetheart. Every time I look at you, the ring on my finger, the bed we share, the pup, everything. All I can think about is how happy I am to be here with you.” Alex whispered. “And now with this baby so close to being here, I just can’t believe it. Makes me want to cry. I’m literally the luckiest man alive.”
It took everything in you not to start bawling tears of joy yourself, what he had just said was so incredibly beautiful. You looked up at him once again and caressed his face. “You’re perfect, Alexander. You’re gonna be an incredible daddy. Our little girl is so lucky.”
“Little...girl?”
Your eyes widened. Your hand shot to cover your mouth. Fuck. Alex had wanted to wait to find out the sex of the baby until she was born, you were meant to keep it a secret just so you could buy the appropriate clothes and toys for the baby.
“Oh my God Alex, I can’t believe I’ve said that. I’m so sorry, baby.” You winced as you turned to face him completely, fully expecting to look at him and see an expression of disappointment. You had ruined his surprise.
However, when you looked at Alex, you were faced with something far different. His mouth was slightly ajar due to shock, but a massive grin was painted across his face, and tears were streaming down his face. “We’re having a baby girl?”
You nodded and your eyes filled with tears too. “We’re having a baby girl.”
Alex jumped up from the floor, a wild look on his face. “We’re having a baby girl,” he giggled, still not completely at terms with the information you had just slipped.
He held out a hand to help you off the ground, and once you stood up as well, he put his hands on your shoulders. “My love... my baby… My angel. My darling, my sweetheart, my princess…. My wife, my soulmate, the actual mother of my child… is having a beautiful baby girl with me.” Tears were still streaming down his face.
You couldn’t get any words out, you were too emotional. All you could do is smile and nod. Alex let out a broken laugh through his tears and pulled you in for a hug. His arms wrapped around you tightly, and when you snaked yours around his back he began rocking the two of you back and forth. You were both practically sobbing now, the realization that you were going to be the parents of a baby girl in only a few short months had finally really set in. Alex seemed to hug you for hours before pulling back and looking into your eyes once again. You giggled as you placed your hands on the sides of his face and wiped his tears away with your thumbs. He took a deep sigh and did the same for you, then he broke the silence.
“I want to name her Willow. We met in Willow park, I proposed to you under a willow tree, the first thing you planted in our garden was a willow sapling. I think it’s only fitting that our first baby is a Willow, too.”
You had never felt the way you felt at that moment. Your heart felt so full it could burst. Your smile was so wide you thought your face would tear. You felt so much love in your soul at that moment, you couldn’t even respond. All you could bring yourself to do was take the hands still cupping Alex’s face and pull them towards you. You attached your lips to his and he grinned into the kiss, moving his hands onto the small of your back and pulling you closer. The kiss was passionate but not lustful, your lips moved together gently and in harmony. It was as if the kiss was saying “I love you”. When Alex pulled out of the kiss, his lips were puffy and his cheeks red. It warmed your heart that even now, years after the two of you had met, the two of you still got flustered every once and awhile. Alex pressed his forehead to yours, so the tip of your nose was touching his and your eyes were staring up into his. Alex’s hands were on either side of your head, tangled in your hair. He said nothing, just looked at you with loving eyes and a toothy grin. You couldn’t help but chuckle a bit before patting his cheek.
“Alright, Daddy, off to bed. You won’t be able to do this late night stuff anymore when little miss Willow hits the world, so get used to it now,” you whispered and gave your husband a kiss on the forehead before making your way back to bed.
“Right behind you, Mum,” you heard Alex giggle, and he gave you a playful slap on the arse as the two of you reached your bedroom. Alex took off his shirt and practically jumped into bed, whereas you took your time to take off your robe, put your slippers away, and stretch your back before slowly strolling to bed. Alex had an impatient look on his face. “Please, for the love of God, Darling, get into bed. I want to say hi to my little angel before going to sleep.”
You shook your head slightly and chuckled, you knew exactly what he meant. When you finally slid into bed, Alex turned toward you and began tracing little circles on your tummy.
“You know, sometimes after you’ve fallen asleep, I like to sing to her.” Alex whispered.
“I know Al, it’s really sweet,” you beamed.
Alex looked up at you with furrowed brows. “You know? I always wait till you’ve gone to sleep, though.”
“Babe, it’s kind of hard to not know when there’s someone singing to your stomach. I’m only a few inches away from you,” you muttered. “I think it’s really quite precious, though. I never mind hearing your voice.”
Alex rested his head on your pelvis, so he was looking up at you and was right next to your swollen stomach. You began running a hand through his hair, and he cleared his throat. “Well, I guess I won’t have to wait for you to fall asleep then.”
You nodded and gave him an endearing look.
“And I know just the serenade for my two ladies tonight, I couldn’t stop thinking about it while we were in the living room. It was just too perfect.” Alex giggled.
You did your best to hide your excitement when Alex began softly humming the opening to That’s Where You’re Wrong. You were mesmerized as Alex stroked your stomach and began singing softly.
a pussyfooting setting sun
make a wish that weighs a ton
there are no handles for you to hold
and no understanding where it goes
you laid your head back into the pillow and gently shut your eyes as Alex kissed your stomach and started into the next verse.
jealousy in technicolor
fear by name, love by numbers
street light amber, wanderlust
hide her in a blunderbus
by the time Alex got to the chorus, which obviously was the part of the song that he was thinking of when he mentioned the song being ‘too perfect’ for tonight, you were practically asleep. Alex’s hands on your belly, his voice in your ear, his hair tangled in your fingers, it was all so perfect. If you could choose to have one moment last forever, it would have been that one.
she looks as if she’s blowing a kiss at me
and suddenly the sky is a scissor
sitting in the floor with a tambourine
crushing up a bundle of love
don’t take it so personally
you’re not the only one
that time has got it in for honey
that’s where you’re wrong
Alex’s voice faded out as you began to lose consciousness, the last thing you remember hearing was his final “oooh”s after the chorus, and then him kissing your bump once again before getting up and kissing your forehead. You mumbled an “I love you” to your husband as he laid down beside you and wrapped his arms around you, so your head was in his chest. He then tangled his legs in yours before letting out a deep sigh and shutting his eyes.
“I love you too.”

399. The “Cats” round up
Tumblr media
This week was Halloween, and this year I went as Jemima from Cats. Why did I decide on this costume? Well, seeing the trailer (and H3H3′s reaction to it) for the scary 2019 movie with those basic b’s Taylor and James made me want to see the original Cats, the good Cats.
Tumblr media
You can watch most of the direct to VHS 1998 edition on YouTube in parts. So far, its the only musical that doesn’t bore me to tears, even if the scenes where they perform a play for Old Deuteronomy makes no sense.
Tumblr media
You know what Cats sorta reminds me of, that old PBS show Zoobilee Zoo, especially Victoria the white cat, she reminds me of the pink kangaroo lady.
Cats came to New York City in October of 1982 after beginning a successful run in London. It was announced at the end of 1981 that the musical would be coming to New York:
Tumblr media
Anticipation was so great that copies of T.S. Eliot’s original work was selling out:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(I’m mad I can’t find this commercial)
Tickets for the show were sold months in advance, with many bulk orders:
More than six months before opening night, the Fresh Air Fund had already bought 500 seats. The Arthritis Foundation purchased 300 tickets, the Archives of American Art bought 300, and the American Red Cross bought 500 seats. Then there was the Burden Center for Aging with 300, University Settlement with 200 and the Social Service Big Sister League with 500 seats. Those are just a handful among many, but by the time ''Cats'' opened on Broadway last week such orders added up to $6.2 million in advance ticket sales. Of that sum, $4.5 million had already been collected, with only $1.7 million in contracts still to be paid in full. This could be the largest advance sale in Broadway history, according to many theater analysts. Orders began to come in more than a year before ''Cats'' - a big hit in London - finally arrived in New York, and tickets are now being sold as far in advance as next May. 2
The musical debut was also supposed to be a cover story in Newsweek, but the Tylenol murders prevailed. 2
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Someone defaced the copy at archive.org.
Tumblr media
I somehow found the cover though. I wonder if this was for Canada? There are people on sketchy websites selling this as a print? The library bound Newsweek from archive.org has the Tylenol cover. I believe the woman on the bottom row, right is Janet Hubert, who played Aunt Viv the first on Fresh Prince. In Cats, she played Tantomile in the first Broadway cast.
(I made screencaps of the Newsweek article and uploaded the screencaps to the mirror site on wordpress)
As you may have noticed these Cats from the early 80s are kind of scary looking. There are several videos on YouTube of the cast performing at the 1983 Tony Awards, and there is this cat that is absolutely terrifying:
Tumblr media
It’s the one who sings “can you see in the dark?!”. I think its Demeter, and Marlene Danielle is playing her? Marlene was an originally an understudy in 1982 and eventually played Bombularina until the end of Cats’ run on Broadway in 2000.
Tumblr media
Here she is on Today in 1999 discussing the role and she also performs “Macavity”.
Tumblr media
The cats of Cats became so popular in the 1980s that they were even in a No Smoking commercial.
Tumblr media
And a seat buckle/child seat PSA! This one is really dark, I mean Memory plays at the end.
Tumblr media
In 1984, Rum Tum Tugger became the star of his own music video. 3 I don’t know how often MTV played this--maybe it played more overseas. I remember my choir teacher in high school, Ms. Forrest showing us a VHS once of music videos from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musicals, and she said that they were popular in the UK and shown on MTV over there. All I remember is a Phantom of the Opera remix and Requiem sung by his ex-wife.

In this clip from the short lived America’s Talking channel (later to become MSNBC) a reporter asks the cats what they did on their snow day during the 1996 blizzard. I can’t confirm this, but he says that it was the first time the show had ever been canceled. This reporter is peak 1996 in mens clothes with his bomber jacket and tie.
By June of 1997, Cats broke the record previously held by A Chorus Line of longest running show on Broadway:

Along the way to its longevity record, which applies just to Broadway shows, ''Cats'' has piled up some big numbers. It has provided employment to 231 actors, two of whom, Marlene Danielle and Susan Powers, have been with the musical since it opened. (Nineteen cast members have died.) The magical tire that carries Grizabella heavenward has clocked more than 114 miles in its nightly voyage to the Heaviside Layer. ''Memory,'' the show-stopping song that ends the first act, has been recorded by more than 180 artists. The New York production has used more than 1.5 million pounds of dry ice and 2,706 pounds of yak hair for wigs. It has sold 390,000 T-shirts, 130,000 sweat shirts, 147,000 lapel pins and 1.14 million souvenir books. 1

It’d been close to a year since he’d started dating Aidan. A wonderful year. A year that had brought him more joy than he thought possible. But Christmas and Aidan’s birthday on the 27th were looming at him now, along with that one-year anniversary. He had no clue what to get him for either day and this was one time his sisters couldn’t help him.
So he decided to go to Aidan’s sisters, well, one sister in particular.
The entire Delaney clan had come to Lenox for Thanksgiving. Wen Ning had survived the weekend solely because Aidan made sure he could easily escape to have time to himself. Wen Ning just needed the alone time to recharge before heading back out to be social. The Delaneys were very loud and very affectionate and, honestly, very welcoming. Too welcoming sometimes which is why Wen Ning had a few moments where the room felt too small and too enclosed. And yet, somehow, Aidan or Aisling or Finn or Una were always there to get him to a quiet, empty space.
He really did love them. All of them. Even the ones he’d just met for the first time this weekend.
He’d just wished they’d all collectively stopped trying to shove food at him. He didn’t have the heart to refuse any of them and was beyond full. He’d never been so thankful that Wen Qing had come to Aidan’s house and personally made sure he had a Wen Qing approved first aid and medicine cabinet. The economy sized bottle of Tums had become his best friend.
Cate was the sibling closest to Aidan in age. The eldest of ten siblings, her oldest daughter was the same age as Finn. She’d been the first of the non-Lenox Delaneys to meet him and of the grown-siblings was the one he’d grown closest to. Cate was going to be the next head of Delaney Detailing and Repair and she knew more about car specs and how to rebuild an engine block from scrap than anyone he’d ever met.
She was also Aidan’s best friend, and therefore, the logical place to start.
“No clue what to get him for his birthday, right?” she asked as Wen Ning approached her in the finally cleared-out kitchen.
“And Christmas,” he admitted.
Cate sighed. “Yeah, Aidan’s one of those. ‘Oh, I don’t need anything! Just get me a gift card! Or make a donation in my name!’ assholes.” She shook her head. “Bullshit, I say. Like, yeah, that’s fine for people like Great Aunt Betty who still thinks we’re teenagers, but it’s different when you’re dating the guy.”
“Yes,” Wen Ning agreed. “And I’ve done the donations, and an entire round of gift cards for the station’s favorite restaurants and for the grocery store for their in-house meals. And, of course, I have a collection of little things I’ve bought over the year. Just tiny things that reminded me of him. I figured I’d give him that for our anniversary, but for the other two. I’m at a loss. He doesn’t like fancy watches because he can’t use them for work and they’ll get ruined. He only wears the one cologne, and everyone gives that to him.”
“Guilty,” Cate admitted.
“He just upgraded the tv for this weekend, so that’s out.”
“And he’d have an actual heart attack if you bought him something so pricey,” Cate said.
“And ties, cuff links, those are out. He never wears them. Your mother and the Trio have him covered on loungewear. He doesn’t play video games because that’s not how he spends his free time. Your father is buying him a new Kindle.”
“Yeah, Pop called dibs on that one,” Cate agreed.
“So the only ideas I’m left with are a new Bruins jersey, the throwback ones that just came out, and a new pair of Jordans because he refuses to buy them for himself even though he stares them down every time we’re near a Footlocker.”
Cate pointed at him with a stalk of celery. “Those are both perfect ideas! There you go! Get them before anyone else can. I’ll update the group chat.”
Wen Ning shook his head. “They’re not special enough,” he said.
Cate patted his shoulder. “Look, you’re never going to out-sentimental Aidan when it comes to gifts. I swear to god, he learned how to do that stupid wood engraving just to shows us all up in the gift-giving department. Everyone thinks he’s this sweet little angel, but he’s got a competitive streak a mile wide when it comes to the family.”
Wen Ning had seen it, in person, during game nights. He quite liked it, if he was being completely honest. Aidan’s eyes shone with the thrill of victory, even over something as small as winning at-home Jeopardy!
“And honestly, Ning, he’s stupidly in love with you. Like, you could give him a friggin’ plate of cookies alone and he’d start sending texts to the entire family about how amazing and talented you are. He’ll love anything you give him, so no pressure. Really. He’d hate to think you’re agonizing over it.”
They were kind words, especially from Cate who rivaled his own sister at No Bullshit, but he still couldn’t help but worry.
“Seriously, you could give him a coupon for Free Hugs and he’d kiss you and thank you and insist the coupon never expired. You. Have. Got. This.”
**********
Wen Ning didn’t like driving the Expedition. It was just too big, but it was the only vehicle that could easily and safely transport the Trio between Aidan, his cousin Chris, and Wen Ning. And it did have the rearview camera, which helped, along with Wen Ning’s supportive group of backseat drivers.
They all wanted to go shopping for presents, and since Aidan had taken the weekend day shifts, Wen Ning had offered to take the Trio.
“So, when are you moving in?” Una asked.
“Una, not while he’s driving,” Finn said. “Do you want us all to die?”
“What?” she asked. “He’s always at our house anyway.”
“Yeah, because of us, dumbass,” Finn said.
“Don’t call your sister that,” Wen Ning said, looking at them in the rearview mirror.
“Sorry,” Finn muttered.
“I’m not the one you need to apologize to,” Wen Ning said.
Finn rolled his eyes, but he still turned to Una. “I’m sorry.”
“Whatever,” Una said. “My point stands.”
Aisling remained quiet, but she met his eyes in the rearview mirror and shrugged.
“It’s a little soon,” Wen Ning said. “Maybe if we’re still together in a few years, we’ll talk about it.”
“If?” Aisling asked.
“Years?” Finn followed.
“It’s not something to take lightly,” he explained as he headed towards the mall. “Especially in our situation. We’d need to find a bigger house. We’d need to find a place that allowed cats and hamsters, if we decide to rent instead of own. I need somewhere with a big enough yard or basement for practice. And then there’s all the financial stuff. Rents or mortgages and utilities. Not to mention discussions such as what furniture you keep, give away, or buy.” He gave them a sad smile. “It’s not very romantic, I know.”
“Don’t you love Aidan?” Una asked.
That was enough to make him pull over to the side of the road, put it in park, and turn around to stare at the three of them.
“Of course I do,” he said. “I’ve never loved anyone the way I love your brother, but we both have other obligations and not unending sources of wealth like the Lans or the Jiangs. We have to be a little more cautious.”
Wen Ning didn’t say that he’d been waiting for the other shoe to drop for months. That he was waiting for Aidan to decided that hey, maybe a former pro-athlete and current gym teacher--a Wen--wasn’t the best place to lay his love and affection.
He also knew if Aidan ever found out he was thinking that he’d see either one or all of the three faces of Aidan he couldn’t stomach: 1) rare anger 2) disappointment and 3) heartbreakingly sad.
But they hadn’t talked about the future, not in any great detail. They hadn’t talked about the reality of combining their lives, even if they were already so intertwined. And Wen Ning really didn’t want to have that conversation via proxy of the Trio.
“Whenever you decide it’s time, you have our approval,” Aisling said.
“Totally,” Finn agreed.
“And our support,” Una said.
“Thanks, kiddos,” he said. “That means a lot.”
**********
Find your stance. Relax your grip. Notch the arrow. Place your fingers. Draw. Aim. Release. Over and over and over again. Some people had meditation. Some had yoga. Wen Ning had archery.
The reason he’d invested in this house was because of the large basement, long enough and wide enough for a small in-home range. When he’d bought it, he had no real future in mind. It was just him then. He didn’t even have Mr. Tumnus.
Stance. Grip. Notch. Place. Draw. Aim. Release. Repeat.
He had a vision of a future now. A husband. Kids. A place for Chris to work on his art. Guest rooms for their family. A backyard range. No dogs, of course. Maybe more cats. Maybe something else like a ferret.
Stance. Grip. Notch. Place. Draw. Aim. Release. Repeat.
Aidan. His vision for that future was Aidan.
“Hold your fire, Hawkeye.”
Wen Ning dropped his stance. Aidan?
“Aidan?” he said, turning around in surprise.
Aidan grinned at him, still in his uniform.
“The Trio?” he asked.
Aidan shrugged. “Ma’s staying in town a few extra days. So, mind if I crash here for a bit?”
Wen Ning carefully placed his bow and arrow to the side then bound over to Aidan who laughed and caught him.
It was so rare for them to have time completely to themselves.
“I’m taking this as a yes,” Aidan said.
“Mmmhnn,” Wen Ning hummed into his mouth.
Aidan laughed, carefully walking them over to the old, battered couch.
“So, what’s this I hear about if we’re still together in a few years?”
Wen Ning buried his head in the safe space between Aidan’s neck and shoulder.
“Sweetheart,” Aidan said in his distinctive Southie accent. “You get this deer in the headlights look when I try to talk about the future, so I didn’t want to spook you. But I’m here. For you. For it all. Okay? River deep, mountain high, remember?”
“I remember,” Wen Ning said, Those words and that song, the first time Aidan told him he loved him. “It’s still too soon.”
“I know you think that and I respect it,” Aidan said. “So you take your time. I’ll still be right here. Right next to you.”
“You only have a binder full of listings, don’t you?” Wen Ning asked.
“You can’t prove nothing,” Aidan said.

The Cats Motion Picture soundtrack
Before I get into this, I want to preface it by saying the following- I have not seen the movie yet. This review is purely for the soundtrack, which I have listened to in its entirety purely for the purpose of reviewing it. I don’t like to review something unless I’ve seen/read/listened to it all the way through. Also, there will be potentially unpopular opinions. Now, let’s get on with it, shall we?
Overall, I thought that the soundtrack for the movie was interesting. Not terrible (I’ve heard way worse), not fantastic (I’ve heard way better), but interesting. There were some bright spots on it and some spots that, for me, were very ‘what were they thinking’.
The Overture
They shortened it, chopping about a minute and a half in various places. No idea why this was done, but the transitions are not nearly as smooth as they might have thought. It’s kinda jarring.
Jellicle Songs for Jellicle Cats
The pacing of this song (most of the songs, actually) was reminiscent of the original Broadway version. In my opinion, that’s not a good thing. I’ve always thought that the songs in the OBC felt very rushed, and this one also feels very rushed. Also, I’m not sure how I feel about the solos on the chorus at the beginning. It’s definitely different, I’ll say that.
The Old Gumbie Cat
This one started off very promising. That said, I almost didn’t finish it because it’s really rough. Robbie Fairchild as Munkustrap is actually quite nice to listen to. Not as nice, I thought, was Rebel Wilson’s Jennyanydots. Her voice sounds very shrill. Also, it’s very off-putting hearing this song and other songs in this from first-person perspective. Rather than other people singing the praises of such a well-respected character, she’s just tooting her own horn.
The Rum Tum Tugger
I actually liked this one. A lot. The guitar riffs, the brass section, it all *works* really well. There were a few spots where Jason Derulo’s Tugger sounded off to me, but overall I enjoyed this version of the song way more than I expected to.
Bustopher Jones: The Cat About Town
Again, the whole ‘the character sings about themselves’ thing is a strange choice. And, again, it’s for the same reason. Like Jennyanydots, Bustopher is a very well-respected character. In this, he sounds...kind of buffoonish.
Mungojerrie and Rumpleteaser
This one caught me off-guard at first, because I’d never heard the original London version of the song before. I have to say, though, I think it works well here. I’ve heard that Mungo and Rumple are much more devious and villainous in the movie, and something about this version feels much more like an actual villain song.
Old Deuteronomy
It’s strange not hearing the first half of this song as a duet between Munkustrap and RTT. Stranger still are the changes made to accommodate the fact that Old D is female in the movie (I think they could’ve kept the ‘buried 9 wives’ line, but....eh). Overall, though, not bad.
Beautiful Ghosts
I’m so very on-the-fence about this song. I’ve never been a fan of remakes of musicals that randomly add songs that weren’t in the original. Especially when the new song doesn’t quite fit the style of the rest of the songs. Francesca Hayward’s voice is gorgeous, though, and the song really is quite good if you ignore the fact that it’s shameless ‘Best Song’ bait thrown into a musical that didn’t really *need* a new song.
Magical Gus/Gus The Theatre Cat
Combining my thoughts about these two into one blurb, since the former is only 36 seconds long. Having not seen the movie yet, I have no idea of the context behind ‘Magical Gus’, but it’s quite pretty. As for ‘Gus the Theatre Cat’, I’m once again conflicted. The first-person POV that the movie keeps using is still very jarring here. That said, Sir Ian McKellen as Gus was possibly one of the best casting choices of this entire thing. I miss it being Jellylorum telling the other cats about his awesome and illustrious career, though.
Skimbleshanks the Railway Cat
Skimble sings most of the song anyway, so it was slightly less jarring to hear him singing a few more lines than he maybe should have in this one. What threw me off, though, was the change of verb tense and the fact that they cut a few bits from this song. Being that it’s always been one of my favorites, I was sad about that. Overall, though? Not terrible.
Macavity, The Mystery Cat
Like Old Gumbie Cat, this is one that I almost didn’t finish listening to. From the moment I heard that Taylor Swift had been cast as Bombalurina, I was skeptical, and this kind of confirmed my worries. While I do like some of Swift’s songs, she was not the right person for this role. The singing was very overly breathy, which I think might have been an attempt to be sultry but just kind of sounded more like she’d sung it after running a mile and hadn’t stopped to catch her breath in between. The music was nice, though, and Macavity coming in at the end was...unexpected, but I’m into it.
Mr. Mistoffelees
While I do miss this one being primarily sung by RTT, Misto singing about himself almost works for me. Even without having seen the movie, it sounds like he’s trying to build up his courage rather than bragging about himself.
Memory
Here we go. The song that, even if you’ve never seen Cats, chances are you’ve heard it. It’s been covered over 600 times in countries all over the world. The movie’s version is, in my opinion, not bad at all. If anyone should have played Bombalurina, it’s Jennifer Hudson. She can belt, but she also knows how to dial it back for the quieter moments. Her voice does come off a bit warbly at times, but you can feel the raw emotion in it.
The Ad-dressing of Cats
Having seen various productions of the stage version throughout the years, I can say that no two Old Deuteronomys perform the role the same way, and this version is no excception. Dame Judi’s Old D felt somewhat reminiscent of Rex Harrison’s style of speak-singing as Professor Higgins. My feelings about this song are pretty much the same as my feelings about the soundtrack overall- Not terrible, not fantastic. Just...interesting.

i was tagged by @undo-mvtty so thank you so much for tagging me :))) I'm sorry for being late but here ya go :
Nickname : my friends and relatives call me nini but i love being called Z and also, i think i have a soft spot for pet names.
Star Sign : taurus. (okay, so i have this weird opinion about star signs. i mean sure its interesting and funny but most times, it doesn't match and honestly it's kinda amusing that just because two people are born in the same month are gonna have the same characteristics/life. no hate tho, i enjoy reading them and i will continue to.
Height : i used to think i was average but now, after tumblr, I'm convinced i am a baby. i'm really smol.
Last Film I Saw : it's a film called every day and i was really interested in watching it bc of its very riveting storyline. i liked the movie but i felt like it had big chunks missing. it was a cute movie tho.
Favourite Musician : holy shit this is gonna be a 2 mile list if i start naming and describing all my favourite musicians so i'm trying to keep it short.
the 1975 is my favourite band and it has been for a while now. it's not like i am a die hard fan of everything they (read matty) do or say but i can definitely say after 2 years of knowing them, I'm in love with this band very much, no matter what music they make, no matter what genre they sing, and no matter how much people stereotype the 1975 fans. this band really changed my life and the way i see music.
john mayer has been a huge influence on me as well, that man is one fucking hell of a genius. i can only dream of successfully playing the neon riff in like 10 years. he's had songs for me when i did not understand myself. the edge of desire solo still does not fail in making my spine shiver.
I love lovelytheband's debut album, i met you when I was 18 by lauv, blue neighborhood by troye. loved zayn's mind of mine but absolutely did not like icarus falls. some other musicians who are equally as fascinating to me are david bowie, arctic monkeys, THE PAPER KITES, james bay, KINGS OF LEON, slowdive, pink floyd, the smiths.
Songs Stuck In My Head : the chorus of i'm so tired by lauv and troye has been stuck in my head since the first listen. there's this indian band called 'the local train' and i love their music. the riff of their song 'aaoge tum kabhi' is like really catchy and i always find myself trying to 'sing' it.
Other Blogs I Like : i reblog anything that i like, I don't necessarily maintain a theme or anything of that sort. so i like different types of blogs from quotes to music to textposts to memes. i absolutely completely love memes.
Do I Get Asks : absolutely not. I'd like to think I don't mind but actually I'd LOVE to get em.
Blogs Following : 208 blogs.
What Am I Wearing : A high waisted grey trouser which i like a lot and a blue striped t-shirt with a cute pocket. I'm also almost covered completely by my orange blankie, which i think counts too.
Dream Job : honestly, i dream about being a musician and going on tour and singing my heart out and also having the audience sing my words back to me too. that is probably my ultimate dream not to mention impossible.
Dream Trip : i think paris is always gonna be that place, the city of love and after watching quite a few movies based on paris, it's also the ultimate dream. I'd love to explore the city uninhibited, the cracks and crevices of it, the food, the people and maybe with someone that i care about. (the prospect of exploring the city of love, all alone is a bit of depressing to me)
Play Any Instruments : yes. I've been playing acoustic guitar for roughly two years and I love it even tho i probably suck. i can also play quite a bit of keyboards/piano. I'm really excited to learn it completely once my exams get over.
Languages : english is my first language in school and needless to say, I'm more comfortable in english than my mother tongue. i also speak bengali and hindi. i really wanna learn spanish and maybe french but I'm the laziest procrastinator out there so i only know a few spanish phrases and words. (mostly curses tho, they come in handy)
Favourite Food : chicken nuggets are my fucking weakness. my mom is an amazing cook so we have our doses of really good food like every day not to jinx it. i loooove french fries, PIZZA, and cheesecake.
I'm tagging : @so-not-meant-to-be @starrskyy @robbersinthecity @ayyyaah @dont-kiss-sunflowers @eequanimityy

Final Ride of 2018
Tomorrow is New Year’s Eve, and despite the Government Shutdown, I will be working. So this weekend marked the last opportunity I would have to ride in 2018. I have been fighting a stomach bug since Christmas Eve, but knew I needed to take advantage of the Gift of clear skies and dry roads that the Ride Gods gave me.
The ride plan I had when I left the house and the ride I actually took are two different animals. I’m not really sure when I made the changes. I headed out of the congestion of northern Virginia skirting around the Manassas National Battlefield before heading across Waterfall Drive and into the Plains. My plan was to scoot out to the Plains and pick up Route 55 and slide over to run Crest Hill Road to the Griffin Tavern in Flint Hill. But as I approached the Plains and came to where I would turn left to pick up 55, I turned right towards Middleburg. I had been to the Griffin a couple of times this year, but couldn't remember if I had been out to Middleburg in a while, so I figured, Why Not? The roads are nice heading out that way too . . .
I sat at the bar at the Red Horse Tavern and ordered a cup of coffee, and since my stomach was still a little iffy, opted for a bowl of Butternut Squash soup and an order of Mozzarella Sticks. They were very good, and thanks to my stomach, I would get to enjoy their taste a couple of times on the ride. The bar has 5 seats, with me at the end, 4 of them were now taken. It quickly became apparent that the other three were locals, and regulars, and I sat quietly in the corner as I listened to them talk about another local who had apparently been banned from almost every local establishment, including the Post Office and Police Department. Their stories of the individual were incredulous. It may become my goal to find this person to see if they are as bad as the reputation that was presented. I paid my bill, left a nice Holiday tip and fired the bike back up. At this point, my plan had now morphed to running Route 50 west a bit then cutting south and riding past the Griffin and into Sperryville, before taking the backroads into Culpeper then heading back tot he shed.
I don't know if I just never heard them, have just gotten used to them, or if they have just resorted to a more subtle approach, but I never heard the voices . . . But they are there . . . They are always there . . . How could I go to Sperryville and skirt the base of the Mountains? At least ride 211 over them . . . Why not ride them? Have you been on Skyline Drive in 2018? Is Skyline Drive even open with the Government Shutdown? Instead of their normal Siren’s song, the voices started this internal discussion. And of course there was only one way to find out . . . Go to the Mountains . . . So I went . . .
Along the way my stomach was rebelling the intake of food. I’m not sure if it was the quantity I had or what, but I really thought I might have an introduction to what it is like to throw up while riding. But, try as it may, I was able to mostly keep it all down. A quick stop in Front Royal to top off and get some Tums helped ensure my face mask stayed clean.
Now I’m not complaining, I understand that the Government is shut down. I’ m not debating the politics behind that, no more than I did when we were shut down for a few weeks under the last Administration. But the implementation of theses things boggles my mind as a taxpayer. Skyline Drive was open. Now I normally would have had to pay $25 to ride it (since I don't have an Annual Park Pass this year). A cage would pay more. But because of the shutdown, there was no one in the booths to take my money, so I rode for free. So in a great display of government common sense, the people whose job it is to intake revenue aren't there to take in the revenue. Of course all of the visitor centers, rest rooms, etc. were closed so I guess it makes sense not to charge people when they won't have full services but . . . What's it matter? I’m a Fed and I’m working tomorrow . . . The Drive was open -that’s all that matters . . .
And it was beautiful! It got a little chilly at altitudes (3,000 + ft - I know nothing compared to other mountains but spectacular in their own way). But it was clear, and the ripples of the mountain range going from as the song says Purple Mountain Majesties to the other local namesake, Blue Ridges. The drive wasn't crowded, But it was active. Most of the trail head parking areas were full as folks took advantage of this gift from the Gods to answer the Mountain voices in their own heads.
I rode Skyline Drive down to Route 211 and headed into Sperryville. Rather than staying on 211into Warrenton, I took 522 North to Flint Hill and did go past the Griffin, So I guess I kind of met my plan - technically speaking. I then ran Crest H ill Road out from there into Marshall, before picking up 55 and heading back in to once again skirt through the Manassas Battlefield before gassing up and tucking the bike in for the final time of 2018.
I know that 2018 wasn't my best riding year in terms of miles. This will be covered in an upcoming year in review post. But man - what a way to end it. This final ride was one of the best, sour stomach and all. It’s supposed to nice on New Year’s Day . . . Hmmm perhaps I will ride Skyline for free again . . . this time from 211 south to 33 . . . time will tell . . .

There’s a gap on my pillow.....
MitziMoo, Mitzerella, Pretty Little Mitz – 01/06/06 -13/06/20
Tumblr media
My first meeting with Mitzi was somewhat uneventful. It was the 2nd October, 2016, a gorgeous Sunday morning, and probably the last of the year. Or, at least, that was what I thought when I decided to have a day out by the sea, and drove the 160-odd miles to visit Rachel in Portsmouth.
I knocked on Rachel’s door, at about 12:30pm, waking her up. She sat me on the sofa, insulted me at my arriving so early (!) and unannounced, and went back upstairs to make herself presentable.
When she returned, she was shadowed by two small furry figures. The black furry figure was called Mollie, and demanded fuss and attention. The white, furrier figure, who I was to learn was called Mitzi, walked past me, throwing a custard-curdling gaze over her kitty shoulder as a greeting, probably due to her premature awakening as she entered the kitchen feeding zone, then disappeared back upstairs without so much as a “how do you mew”.
Tumblr media
As I got to know her better, I found that she had possibly the loudest meow of any cat ever. She also had a variety of voices, varying from the full on furry yell when she was hungry and / or wanted attention, to a cuter, more affectionate meow when she wanted snuggles, generally at bedtime. There was also the dreaded, deep, howling, truncated meow which indicated that she had caught something, and was bringing it for inspection. This was often accompanied by a loud, rumbling purr that could only be measured on the Richter scale
She loved playing the bubble game, which involved a bottle of bubble mixture, and she would try to catch each bubble. Her bubble-catching was so fervent that It was as though she believed that each bubble caught would save the soul of another cat. Her lightning reactions and incisive claws meant that she rarely failed.

Oh, and she sniffed everything.
One afternoon, Rachel had gone to the gym, and I was installing some new speaker cabling at Rachel’s house. As I dragged each piece of furniture out, Mitzi ran into the space, sniffing each part of the newly exposed area, and looking at me to let me know that everything was OK, it had passed inspection, and I may proceed. I did consider getting her some overalls for the future, as she was always very keen to help with DIY matters.
After I finished, I put the tools away (with furry assistance) and sat down, with a view to using a sound meter to test the 6 speaker levels, and balance the surround system while it was fairly quiet.
The next thing I knew, Mitzi had gone from sniffing the new installation, to sitting on the arm of the sofa. Suddenly she was on my lap, and, that was it. We were engaged!
Bedtimes commenced with getting into bed, assisted by Mitzi, who would come over for snuggles. Early in the morning, (about 3AM, as she was a very punctual cat) she would alight onto the pillow, rumbling loudly, and wrap herself around my head.
Tumblr media
Due to her black and white colouring, and generous build, she was nicknamed MitziMoo, as she resembled a feline Friesian cow. I often tried to get a picture of her looking over her shoulder, so that I could create pastiche of the Pink Floyd album cover, to be called Atom Heart Mitzi, but she would never stand still for long enough.
Her white fur got everywhere. In an attempt to prevent the spread of it to all corners of the universe (I often found Mitzi’s fur in Birmingham) I bought her a Furminator grooming brush. She found that she loved being brushed.
Lots and regularly.
She would appear every 45 minutes, sit patiently, and then yell at the top of her furry little lungs for a brushing. Such was her punctuality, that it generally occurred at approximately 25 minutes past the hour (i.e. “it’s time for my 11:30”).
Tumblr media
It didn’t solve the problem.
It was as if she was producing more fur so that she could be brushed more often, sometimes 8 times in a day. The brushings increased, and the fur got more plentiful. After I eventually developed cramp and raw palms from the endless brushings, I began to investigate the possibility of a vacuum attachment.
She and I had an almost psychic link. She knew what time I would awake, so that she would be (literally) lying in wait next to me, displaying her legendary, vast fluffy white tum, and a furry yell would emerge from the depths as soon as my eyes opened. She would then chase me down the stairs, screech to a halt in the kitchen, and demand that the door would be opened. I would then open the kitchen door, whereupon she would eagerly go outside and start eating grass.
Then yell to be let back in.
By this time, I would have made coffee, and put some food down for her. She would then proceed to the dish and eat hungrily, whilst I took my coffee to bed, and started to read. The tranquillity would soon be shattered by the unmistakeable sounds of feline vomiting.
Clearly the grass had done its work.
She always knew when I was getting ready to leave on Sunday evening. As I gathered my things together, she would appear for a last brushing before I left.
Tumblr media
She had been ill for a while, and had a number of health issues by the time she reached 14. I don’t want to dwell on the details. That’s the worst thing about any partnership.
There is always a dark thought in the recesses of your mind that, one way or another, anything that you love will break your heart someday. That day arrived on 13th June 2020.
While I’m heartbroken at her passing, death brings into focus the memories of the good times. I’ll carry that around with me forever. Bad memories don’t last as long.
Mitzi, and her various nicknames was an easy name to fit into songs. With this in mind, Mitzi MitziMoo, I miss you. We’ll never again be off to see the Mitzi, the wonderful Mitzi of Moo, and, as The Fuzztones almost sang
“Hey, Hey, Hey, Hey, Hey Mitzerella, Where have you gone?
… I want to be your fella, Hey, Hey, Hey, Hey, Hey Mitzerella.”
Tumblr media
There’s a gap on my pillow, and it’s where you should be.
Farewell Mitzi. You really had me at meow. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
