She was fully on guard as her dagger was underneath her sleeve, her scarf covering her mouth as her eyes lowered a bit. Bones backed off a bit at the outburst, but not much. She needed a friend right now, she just couldn't accept it.

"... I try to help you for multiple reasons, Rin," he said quietly. "Some more selfish than others."

"You say you don't need help. You don't need anyone. But yet you just said you're not worth the trouble of helping. I think you realize that that's a lie; you do need help, you just don't think you deserve it. You think you deserve to be alone, to suffer, with no relief given or asked for."

"Well, you're wrong. You don't deserve help any less than anyone else. We've all messed up, all failed, in one way or another. That isn't as important as growing from the experience. You've taught me that as much as anyone! And you have grown, have changed, just as you have encouraged me to do the same in the areas where I haven't measured up! As your friend, I won't let you continue to contradict yourself!"

"I said I had multiple reasons for wanting to help you. One reason is I just... have a need to help. It's in my nature. Part of me understands that the more we help one another, the more everyone benefits. Everyone heals, grows stronger, creates a better future for all of us. And you don't get to exclude yourself from that! You're not that special!" Another reason is that I want you to have the freedom you've given to others- to me. It would be selfish of me to do otherwise."

"But on the subject of selfishness, there is another reason- a more selfish reason- I keep trying to help you. If I can help you... if you can grow out of your self-hatred... Then I can too. Ever since I was a pup, I have viewed myself as broken, unworthy, because I can't use magic. A monster that can't use magic! How!? Something went wrong when the SOUL fusion my parents underwent to create me happened. And instead of a litter of seven, eight pups... They got only me."

"I've done just fine without magic. There are even some benefits. But I've never felt whole as a result. So here I am, helping another so I can learn to help myself." He chuckled ruefully. "It's a stupid reason, I admits but so are all selfish reasons. Good thing I have others, eh?"

"I won't insult you by downplaying what you've done. But neither will I let you continue to wound yourself over damage that can't be undone."

He smiled gently, and held out his arms.

"So please. Let me help you. If not for your sake, then for mine? I know you do what you can for your friends. You're too honest to do otherwise. So do this for me. Please?"

The hybrid seemed to ponder her proposal for but a moment before asking, "Are you certain? I do not wish to harm you, even if by accident..."

While he had some doubts he could actually harm the powerful vampire, here in the underground there was simply too many unknowns to rule it out as a possibility. After all, something as simple as words can harm others down here... A serious punch can be so much worse knowing this. Still, he followed her anyway, his anger addled heart guiding his hooves more than his head was.

my opinion on;

character in general: There’s a lot to like with Rin! She’s clearly a character with a lot of love behind her and a lot of lore and effort that you’ve put into her. The current arc with her right now can be kind of frustrating to play out at some point, but just because That’s The Arc and everyone’s just kind of angy at everyone right now. But Rin’s a’ight!  the mun: Real swell person and good friend! Always a pleasure when you pop into vc.

He hadn’t noticed her at all, but he heard the voice...well, he heard the words anyway, assuming it was his brother at first. Waking just enough at the poke to let out a tired, annoyed sigh. 

“SANS I TOLD YOU ALREADY I’M NOT ASLEEP, MEARLY RESTING MY EYES-”

He stopped as soon as he realized that voice wasn’t his brothers, fully awake and staring down at the girl with his head tilted. 

He’s quiet for a moment before his face split into an even bigger grin and bending himself down to be eye level with her, bringing his face way too close.

What an annoying day of work dealing with irresponsible asshats throwing away their savings at the casino. Being a blackjack dealer, it’s tiring to hear people whining and complaining after deciding to risk a significant sum knowing the house always wins. 

After making his way home, Tyree fixes himself some black tea and waits patiently with a book in hand for Rin’s arrival.
