idk if this is more of a headcanon or a theory but like what if Nervous Subject grew up in a Quasimodo type situation with the Beakers where he thinks they’re just protecting because they love him. Like he’s been through so much he can’t remember Olive so the only adults in his life were the Beakers. He probably grew up hearing things like “think of all the lives you’ve saved by letting us experiment on you” or being reminded he is the son of death incarnate that is so pumped full of chemicals and anesthetics he wouldn’t be able to function without Loki and Circe. They make him feel like a monster or a danger to society. (which he’s only a danger to unattended trash cans) And then of course this is only solidified when he grows up to be this 6’10”, ghostly pale and skinny guy covered in vivisection scars and chemical burns that doesn’t look like any of the people in the movies he was allowed to watch.

I also like the idea of this whole worldview crumbling in front of him after he meets the Curious family and Ophelia and realizes that he isn’t just a semi-immortal lab rat and what he had with the Beakers was not familial love.

Also Loki and Circe would totally sing him the “you are deformed and you are ugly” song from The Hunchback of Notre Dame…

My theories on The Social Bunny!

The social bunny has always been an odd concept to me, and there are multiple reasons as to why

For starters, I've seen people talking a lot about lore surrounding Sunny, the tragic clown and it's always been mentioned that the social bunny was a replacement of sorts, in The Sims 2

but I haven't seen a lot of thoughts on the social bunny itself

and that's what I'm going to share with you today my dear children -uwu- no but really, is it not a bit strange how the social bunny is a replacement for the tragic clown when the tragic clown, despite being dead and most probably a ghost, is still an existing being, if that makes sense, like he exists. He's not physically present but he is still real and visible to everyone and all sims can agree that he exists

this, while the social bunny, much like a few other NPCs in The Sims 2, is nothing but a hallucination, something sims can see only at a certain state of mind

This is also where The Sims 2 differs from The sims 3 and The sims 4, as, in The Sims 2, the only time sims see things that aren't there, is when they are going insane and are mentally unstable, whereas in The Sims 3 and 4, rather than hallucination, the only time sims can see things that aren't there, is with kids' imagination, which allows them to see things such as monsters under their bed or mental images when playing with their toys, things adults can't see.

Also interesting to me, but also kinda creepy:

There is a painting of the social bunny that can be painted with the painting skill using the easel, in The Sims 3, and there is a similar looking painting that can be obtained in the same way, in The Sims 4

While many of the paintings in TS4, that are direct copies from TS3, look near identical in both games, e.g.:

The only copy that doesn't really look the same in both games, is the social bunny:

The one to the left (TS3) looks like how the social bunny originally looked in The Sims 2, kind of dusty, a little damaged, but the one to the right (TS4) looks ... different. Cleaner, clearer, it even has both eyes... I wonder what this could indicate...

Being a highly respected scientist, a skilled inventor, and the owner of one of the most powerful technological enterprises in the world, Dr. Vu would never have expected - nor wanted - to uplift his and his family’s entire lives and move out to the middle of Nowhere. 

But of course, despite his immeasurable wealth and success, he was still a wanted criminal. Charged - unfairly, mind you - for truly ridiculous crimes such as ‘disturbing the peace’ and ‘domestic terrorism against the people of SimCity.’

As such, he knew he’d have to lay low for a while, learning the culture and doing his very best to allow himself and his family to blend in as perfectly average townies of this miserable little desert...

...All for the sake of protecting his most important project: his daughter.

Is Circe a good doctor ?

It’s no secret, at least for the player, that Circe is not a kind nor sweet medical worker who heal people just for the good of it.

Circe is not a good-natured person. She knows many ways to inflect pain, is involved in human experimentations, and she seems to enjoy it, as one of her psp secret says : Nothing excites her more than volunteering for crazy science experiments. Funny, since this secret is unlock if you are intimate with her in the game. So it seems to be common knowledge for her partners. Such a mean Sims can’t be a good doctor right ? Well there is stuff to explore.

First, why did she choose such a career path ? She clearly doesn’t care about one ´ s health or well-being. Quite the opposite. Well, I can see three reasons. Money, distinction and her hidden knowledge aspiration.

I. Money :

 Circe is, first and foremost, a fortune Sims. As such she wants to be rich. The prima guide states that there is ideal career path for fortune sims : buisness, criminal and medical. Well, criminal is low-paying until you reach a certain level, and is quite dangerous. Chief of staff is not only a profit-making hight paying job, it’s also a social distinction. 

II. Distinction 

Chief of staff is not only a profit-making hight paying job, it’s also a social distinction. The description reads : You are one of the most respected physicians in SimCity. It’s about recognition and chosing a social and economic identity marker. Doctor are seen, in most culture, as a very succesfull career track. Also, one of her psp secret reavals she ´ s jalous of Loki ´s distinction, meaning she wants ones for herself. But there is an another reason as why she chose the medecine career track.

III. Knowledge.

This also mean shés ambitous and her goal is to reach the top of her career.

That was the description of the infamous SensoTwitch Lie Finder. The "career" ambitions mentionned here are obviously directed to criminals. So why is it so usefull to Circe ? We can always remember that ts2 storylines and events act as a little tutorial and show you some game features. But I prefere to imagine stories behind it. It's too good to be a coincidence. I think the Beakers got or made the lie detector to help them in their career, especially Circe.Of course they are testing it on Nervous first, better be cautious. But then, is she going to practice lying ? It is suppose to convey that Circe could do anything for her glorious career ? Really Anything ? Or does she want to hide her human experimentations ? Both ? I think Circe really will do anything to advance her career, but doesn’t really need to since she is so talented. But, as she becames a more notorious SimsCity Citizen, her reponsabilities and fame can very well blow off everything and the Beakers secret experiments could be exposed. That’s why she is risking her career her. That the core of the Beakers story. Also, let’s not forget she clearly can sell medecine from home. Making profite and medical discoveries are more important than health. Money and Knowledge first. 

A good doctor is not necessarly a nice or kind doctor. It’s a efficient one. Who cares about her intention if she ´s profesional enought. Not caring for her patient but her career is obviously Circe’s mindset. But if moving up the social ladder brings money, it also comes with responsabilites and recognition that could very well be dangerous for our dear Circe.

Me @ me: Remember - as much as you enjoy building in The Sims 4, you hate actually PLAYING The Sims 4, so there's no point in buying expansion packs based on how fondly you remember the corresponding gameplay from TS2 or TS3 because you'll never actually play with those features enough to justify paying that much, just use CC if you want new build/buy options

#making a new chat post seems like a risky choice given what happened to my last one. but I must speak my truth #also this isn't meant to hate on TS4's gameplay or dunk on the game as a whole I just know I'll always go back to TS2 #so for me personally investing more money in TS4 would be a waste because it's not worth paying for a whole EP just for the build/buy stuff #when the focus of those EPs is on gameplay I won't be using - like I keep getting drawn to cottage living or eco lifestyle ortiny living etc #because we don't have those sorts of features in TS2! and then I'm like. but you're not actually going to play with them in TS4 either #and in theory this is what TS4 kits would be perfect for - no sense in paying for an expensive EP if I only want the objects #when I could buy a cheaper kit that has only objects I'd actually use #BUT. that makes it more difficult to share lots on the gallery because fewer people own the same kits especially the more you use #and so if the only reason I avoid using CC is to make my lots easier to download on the gallery then buying kits would creat the same issue #so just use CC LMAO at least then I can advertise my lots off the gallery like here on Tumblr and people can download it for FREE #but even though I know all this. even though I know it would be a waste of money I really don't have atm #they're so cheap.........................

Vidcund for character bingo?

I like Vidcund! He's a character that I could relate to sometimes. I'm not like exactly best at socializing and stuff. To some degree, I probably have some headcanons that are sort of projections in a way.

I think he's like a bit deeper than just a bowlcut guy who is sad about his high school sweetheart. Like, he has the potential to be a better person than back when he was in high school. Maybe he could find out that his former girlfriend Circe is actually not a good person, which he would probably find out when you first play the Curious family and see that Nervous arrived to their place and is not treated well by her and her husband Loki.

Also like, when you first play the Curious family, you are supposed to let Vidcund get abducted by aliens and he's coded to have 100% success of abduction for the first time. A baby (or two!) changes your life a lot so yeah.

I must say if he's a character in a TV show or something, I would root for him to change for the better as I see that he has that potential.
