hi anon! let's clear the air, yeah?

first of all, yes! i am a new football fan, i just started watching seriously after the world cup, and i am also a new arsenal fan. however, i still care very deeply about the sport and my team's successes in said sport! that is what being a fan is all about <3 just because i didn't grow up watching european football doesn't mean that i have less of a right to enjoy it then you do! also, it is the most popular sport in the world with billions and billions of fans globally, and out of the entire sport, the english premier league is the most viewed league in the world. of football, but also of any sport. so you can't really gatekeep it, sorry!

second of all, i'm aware that this was only a regular matchweek, not the world cup. but there are two important caveats to that those being:

who we were playing

and

the fashion in which we won

for who we were playing, it's not a secret that outside of the spurs and the north london derby, manchester united is one of arsenal's biggest rivals and has been since the start of the premier league when they were competing against each other for titles and trophies. i won't go into premier league history with you, i am just a new fan who knows nothing after all, but you should know that beating a rival is always exciting, especially when you are competing against them for points and jockeying for the title to compete with man city. every win is important, and winning is better when it is against a historical rival team.

for the fashion in which we won, it was a close game until the very end. rashford scoring in the 27th minute, and odegaard answering back 35 seconds later. the teams were trading chances and possession, there were good chances and var calls that went either way, it was a close game where the teams were fighting hard. and then, in the 95th minute, rice scores an absolute screamer and it was truly scenes at the emirates. gabi jesus caps it off with a 101st minute beaut, and arsenal win the game. winning in the last 3 minutes of regulation time, with a bonus goal over 100 minutes into the game is exciting! it was thrilling to watch, and seeing a team that i support win that emphatically in that dramatic of a manner was so much fun. its an exciting thing to watch and its ok to be excited when there's a win like that!

it also isn't just one win, this has just been our best win this season (imo)! we have only played four games, and we have won three and drawn one. so that is three wins actually, i am just celebrating this one the most, again, because of who we won against, how we won, and how we played to secure the win.

if the bit about "not getting used to arsenal wins" (i don't think you can call them assna when they came second in the premier league last season, and this season they haven't lost and they're in the champions league, right? but what do i know i'm just a new footy fan <3) is about the post where i said i forgot how good it feels to watch my team win, i don't think you understand what i have been through in the past 12 years as a sports fan. my hockey team has been on a losing streak almost this whole time, and we have been one of the flops of the league for awhile. just take a look at these gorgeous statistics from my favourite hockey team (that i have been a fan of since i was two, thank you very much)

do you want to talk losing? i know about losing. i know about losing for a long time, in an embarrassing manner. if you want more examples from football, from january to april 2023 i watched psg play every week. that was embarrassing losing in football for real. i might be new to football but i'm not new to sports, and i have to be perfectly honest: coming second is not losing. and what happened today wasn't a loss at all! in fact, it was the opposite! it was a win!

idk about losing the league to manchester city, it seems to me that arsenal has a good system with talented players that can ball out. we will see what comes, as the season is long and there are many other competitions for arsenal to compete in, but i have faith in the gunners and i believe that they can win! (and ill let you in on a little secret: that's what being a fan is all about <3)

i'm not sure if the embarrassing behaviour at the end is for my behaviour or arsenal's behaviour, however i am not being embarrassing, i am just being a fan, and arsenal certainly wasn't embarrassing with their performance today. idk what you're seeing, but bestie i think you might be blind <3

i am so sorry u had to deal with that anon, i hope you are feeling ok! :’) it sucks how shippers make their own reputation bad by not accepting another perspective/opinion :/ and to go to this extent over a fictional ship is just… something else😭 i’ll never understand how some can’t just enjoy their ship in peace and always have to prove it is canon and fight everyone else who doesn’t think like them, as if you can’t enjoy a ship otherwise?

I've said again and again that I have nothing against any ship or shipping group. People can ship Levi with whoever they want. But these people who harass me over it, then accuse me of "talking" about it all the time, but the only reason I talk about it is because they're the ones asking me about it.

The thing is, is I just want to talk about what's in the actual story. Levi has no love interest in the story, either directly acknowledged or even implied. Everything this person sited as evidence or "proof" of Levi being romantically interested in Erwin, I addressed to the best of my abilities. They didn't want to accept it, and then they accuse me of being a hypocrite, trying to claim that all of my analysis posts are based on the same, speculative, inconclusive and flimsy material they base their beliefs on. As if breaking down text, expression, sequential order of panels, and patterns in the text and past character behavior is the same as taking an off-handed comment from Isayama in an interview from ten years ago or whatever and using it as proof of some super secret hidden romantic interest between Levi and Erwin. You can literally look at every post of mine analyzing AoT and find evidence supporting, pretty damn concretely, my conclusions in the actual text. And I'm hardly alone in that. There's many, many great AoT fans who write brilliant analysis posts about the manga/anime, using only the source material. But these people can never point to a single panel or word bubble or piece of text that supports this notion that Levi was in love with Erwin, or anyone, for that matter. They need to site promotional material to try and back up their claims, and extrapolate meaning from the panels and texts which isn't, in any discernible, concrete way actually supported by the text and panels. They literally need to twist Levi's words and actions in the most absurd, nonsensical, illogical manner in order to make it fit. That isn't how Isayama operates as a writer. Even when there's subtext, there's a clear, undeniable line between it and the action on the page. That's what analysis is based on, after all. There has to be a viable, evident reason for drawing certain conclusions.

Levi holding the serum against his chest, or touching Erwin's hand when he took the serum from him, or him thinking of Erwin when wondering who he could revive, none of that is enough proof in and of itself to support a romantic interest between them. I tried explaining to this person what those things actually indicate within the story. The last two don't mean anything. It's just how the panels were drawn. But the first, if this person had paid any kind of attention to Levi's actual relationship with Erwin, and how Levi regarded Erwin, and the reasons he was so loyal to Erwin, would understand that he thought of Erwin in that moment because he regarded Erwin as the leader that humanity needed, and that humanity's future was dependent on Erwin's survival. It's the entire reason Levi tried to stop Erwin from going to Shinganshina in the first place. I come to all of those conclusions based on the actual text and what we know about the characters leading up to that point.

I explained all of this to this fool in my initial reply to them, and they accused me of "brushing them off", lol.

I have a small fear that if Jaune saves Cinder the hate he gets will skyrocket to new heights. I can already see people calling him a pathetic loser, a simp, and a weak doormat. Knightfall is a ship that combines the two most hated characters in the fandm so I'm slightly worried about it's reception. How do yo think Knightfall will be received by the fandm if it happened? Do you think the reaction will be positive or negative?

Hi anon, thanks for your ask.

My first impression reading this ask was that I think there's more going on here than worry about fiction and narrative. I think it's totally okay to recognise how that type of projected worry works (and perhaps even how to identify and work with it). There's nothing you can do to control other people and what they think (and life would be very boring if we could do that). It's also important to recognise that these people you're referencing are not people who necessarily share fundamental values with you; if someone would unironically use 'simp', I'd immediately dismiss their opinions wholesale.

I also don't think that in itself is viable criticism, and if the writers were looking for criticism, they would ignore that particular type. Whatever backlash by Redditors against Jaune's character didn't affect the storyline given to him in V5, or even V6, or into V8. We can already demonstrably see that doesn't matter. The same is equally true for Cinder.

I also think the fact that they went ahead with the Ozlem reveal in V6 and then also further committed to the Atlas Arc suggests to me that whilst there are points of criticism from the fandom they take on at times, they still have an idea of where they're going they're not going to turn away from. The Ozlem reveal in particular is pretty damning to people attached to the Huntsman Academy happy funtime premise.

It's very funny you said that Knightfall combines two hated characters in fandom. Personally, as a Cinder and Jaune fan since V1, I have seen a gradual shift in the way the two are perceived, especially after V8 with Cinder. So that's one thing.

Another thing is that, funnily enough, quite early on I said Knightfall was actually a pretty elegant solution to that fandom reception problem. I don't think they would intentionally write it that way, but I do think that Jaune and Cinder make a shit load of sense together that would give you different perspectives on them.

I also am not going to lie, I think some of the hatred towards Jaune and Cinder comes from a childish tantrum that Jaune wasn't the shounen protag they were promised and Cinder isn't the sexy, uncomplicated femme fatale they wanted. By the same stroke, that is exactly what makes their character arcs so compatible and what makes them intersecting make so much sense; the character archetypes they truly are, truly make the most sense together. I don't know how it would go for everyone, but I do think that once they intersect, people might start to see.

But if you go through my blog, like under the redemption arcs tag, you can see me talk about characters like Cinder that are harder to understand, and equally for the compassionate heroic figures in love with them.

I'm not quite sure what the complete context of this ask is - e.g. if you are a Knightfall fan, or just a Jaune fan worried about what would happen to him - but I think, if you are looking for advice, my advice to you would be to try to be part of space where the things you enjoy are taken seriously. If people are mean on Reddit or in Discord servers about the characters you like, you don't have to be around them (or you can just learn to ignore them and be steady in your own opinions. Me personally, I have to be away from those types).

You could start a Tumblr blog (if you don't already have one) or you could start your own R/WBY server for people with a similar attitude to you (I imagine a single character server wouldn't go on very long).

With that being said, let's say in the worst case scenario Knightfall is not received well. By the time it happens, if it happens at all, it's going to be towards the end of the show - which is around when the Relic of Choice will come into play. You can see more under my Indecisive Queen tag, or indeed referenced in my Knightfall masterpost, that them meeting over the Relic of Choice is at least one thing I expect to happen. Also, according to the Vault and Relic special worlds, the two surviving from the first Vault meeting at the last Relic makes the most sense.

So, if it makes you feel better, you've got time where it's not happening quite yet, at least in terms of canonical confirmation (and some people are still convinced Blake/Yang isn't a thing because there's been no kiss).

On the other hand, I think that if people don't understand that Jaune's Semblance is literally compassion as a superpower and that he's got a bigger purpose in the narrative (connected to Cinder) that makes perfect sense, their opinions are not really worth your time worrying about. If they don't understand the themes of the show and basic storytelling, how can you take what they're saying seriously? I try not to be so cynical, but there are a great deal many viewers - and here I'm not sure what it is about R/WBY that seems to attract some of them - that lack the tools to understand how stories work. Like, reading reviews recently that complain a story has conflict? That a protagonist needs something to drive her and something to overcome? I don't know what's exactly happened; to some degree I think it's just contrarianism.

The people you're thinking of calling him a - simp? This is the second time someone has said this about Jaune in an ask to me. What the fuck is going on? What is in the water? Like, I don't know want to know who might say this kind of stuff, but it's very silly. Anyway, I have no idea how a character exercising active agency in a story is a simp.

If someone thinks transgressing the boundaries of the side of Good with the villain everybody expects to be irredeemable and then also committing an act of effective heresy and then succeeding at the task of helping the woman the audience and the characters at large believed unable to be helped is somehow a doormat or a simp, then they're not criticising the narrative.

They're misogynists. I'm just going to say it. They don't know how to analyse narrative. Someone saying that, thinking a male character exercising nonviolence and helping a female character is 'simping' is just a misogynist, and probably not wanting to change their opinion because their defensiveness and victim complex has shrouded their worldview.

I don't think telling them they're being misogynistic will necessarily help; with those types, it never does, especially because misogynistic, in their eyes, is not a bad thing or something that would make them want to change their beliefs/behaviour.

But I do think pointing out they don't know how to criticise things properly is the thing I would do. Because they're not doing that. I don't mean to characterise one group a particular way, but that crowd always thinks their personal aggrieved feelings count as narrative criticism. It is very ironic when they call women emotional. it makes me laugh.

With that being said, I am not exposed to this end of the fandom anymore. I don't know whom you are referring to, and I hope it doesn't seem like I'm trying to stir trouble. But sometimes you have to recognise when something isn't an intellectual debate anymore and is something else instead.

Now, with that horrible shit out of the way:

How do yo think Knightfall will be received by the fandm if it happened? Do you think the reaction will be positive or negative?

I think I have talked about this before somewhere on my blog, and I have sort of already answered this throughout the ask, but I think the reaction will be complex. It does mystify me that basic, thematically sound narrative beats I saw coming (Ironwood's fall, Penny's death) were subject to such controversy. I don't mean whether you anticipated it or not is the problem - I mean the offense that was felt at the very notion of such story beats. So, as much as I think Knightfall makes sense, if it does happen, a lot of people are going to be surprised.

On the Tumblr end of fandom, I don't really see either Jaune or Cinder subject to virulent shipping; a lot of Cinder fans on here don't ship her with anyone, and generally prefer her not to have a romance or don't consider that in their interest. Jaune is usually second to a lot of Tumblr users' interests as well. So I think the reception here might not be as significant as people think. I anticipate a range of reactions, one of which will include writing a romance for Cinder somehow reduces her character because she shouldn't want for things for only herself or true love or anything, and probably some anti-redemption opinions which are nonsensical from the foundation and just people who don't like her, don't like vulnerability, and don't like complexity.

I don't know about the rest of the fandom. I avoid Reddit, Discord, etc. I used the subreddit from the first volume until five, but I quit when people were celebrating Cinder's 'death'.

Honestly, I think we might be mentally overblowing it.

The way I view it as well is that because we bring so much baggage to narrative, sometimes what we're arguing about isn't what we think we're arguing about. That's why the way I run my blog (which is often about interrogating my tastes or why I do or do not like things) is, well, the way I run my blog. I find it really fascinating, and with R/WBY in particular you can see this in an extreme fashion.

I do want to say though, twists that make sense in hindsight are some of the most fun. I think if you talked to the average R/WBY fan and said you shipped Jaune/Cinder, they would think you're a bit weird or someone who just reads fetish erotica (because Cinder's not a complicated character, of course). But if it did evolve onscreen, it wouldn't seem so strange; it's one of those things that might inspire confusion or revulsion at first, and then once you lay out the argument for it, it seems like the only way to realise everything thematically and narratively, and character-wise.

Because as I relentlessly do not shut the fuck up about: I think Jaune and Cinder are one of the major pairings (along with the others) that literally resolves the Ozlem conflict. Moreover, it resolves their own personal conflicts, realises the themes of the show, and it's very, very unique, and the kind of thing R/WBY does best. The clincher for me personally with Knightfall was when I realised it fits perfectly into R/WBY tonally, and it's the exact kind of thing I am into tonally.

Because I am in one of those moods, let me cite Campbell from Power of Myth, Episode 5:

JOSEPH CAMPBELL: What he was saying is that this love is bigger even than death, than pain, than anything. This is the affirmation of the pain of life in a big way.

BILL MOYERS: And I would choose this pain for love now, even though it might mean everlasting pain and damnation in hell.

JOSEPH CAMPBELL: That’s right.

BILL MOYERS: So there’s joy and pain in love.

JOSEPH CAMPBELL: Yeah, there is. Love, you might say, is the burning point of life, and since all life is sorrowful, so is love. And the stronger the love, the more that pain, but love bears all things.

Love itself is a pain, you might say, but is the pain of being truly alive.

Basically that's it. If you notice, the major R/WBY pairings go through major conflict and deal with major vulnerability and pain, that's what makes Blake/Yang what it is over Blake/Sun, and that's what makes Ren/Nora able to reveal their feelings for each other and see the truth. Part of this is Salem and Ozma's problem. That's why Ozma hides in V6.

This is why I think there's potentially something very major in Jaune and Cinder's favour. The thing people say makes it impossible is the thing I have - not to repeat myself - gone on record of saying the pain between them is the thing that makes absolution, healing, and, well, romance, possible.

Same citation as above, emphasis mine:

JOSEPH CAMPBELL: Right. That’s a very mysterious thing, that electric thing that happens. And then the agony that can follow, which is that which the troubadours celebrate, you know, the agony of the love, the sickness that the doctors cannot cure; the wounds that can be healed only by the weapon that delivered the wound. […]

Well, the wound is the wound of my passion and agony of love for this creature, and the only one who can heal me is the one who delivered the blow, you know.

BILL MOYERS: So we often hurt most the person we love, and heal the hurt by the love that hurt.

JOSEPH CAMPBELL: That’s something like that, that’s the paradox of the job.

Given R/WBY's major mythic influence, both from the monomyth (Campbell is the Hero's Journey, monomyth bloke) and from the mythic and religious traditions from whence the monomyth is derived, I think it's thematically appropriate to share. The Wound of Love also has a presence in Christian theology, which is relevant for a character based on a Catholic saint, and as a story that does use Christian themes (which I think personally it uses like many other influences, not as a predominant theme, but it is there) it is worth considering there's some type of precedent here to consider the Wound of Love.

But with that aside, I think you can still say that interaction of vulnerability and love is there. This is just how I would formally describe it.

Anyway, back to fandom reception: you might be surprised, who nose! I personally think Knightfall is a story beat that makes Jaune's ultimate purpose narrative very clear, and makes him very powerful in a transformative way - and the same for Cinder. But as I mentioned in this ask here, which I recommend reading, violence as narrative language is partly our issue here. To be quite honest, I think that this is actually a theme of Knightfall already, and already a facet of Jaune's character. I just take this to the logical conclusion in the story. If you were not supposed to kill Cinder in V5 and unlocked your magical Semblance whilst you were at it, then what?

Ultimately, I think that whether people respond to Knightfall positively is not really the thing I am personally concerned about. Some people want a simple story and they want to leave a story with fluffy feelings or justified feelings. They want something that leaves them feeling like evil has been defeated and killed and they want it in a familiar way. But I think that the question more pertinent to me is what's thematically appropriate and what is a story like R/WBY trying to do. Even if I didn't agree with R/WBY I would still want it to tell the story it's supposed to do. A lot of people can't sit with discomfort with a story or understand what does and doesn't work for them.

I also intellectually respect a story much more if it commits to its ideas.

At the end of the day I think Knightfall is the organic conclusion of what they've established. A lot of people in fandom do not understand what they've established, and in some ways I think that's the show's fault and in some ways I don't think it is - and is a totally separate post.

As always, I think you just need to find your bliss. If you're a Jaune fan and you're worried, just remember that you enjoy Jaune's character and you understand him in a way some others don't. (I am also a Jaune fan, as is obvious). It might be a fun exercise for you to figure out what compels you about him. If you are a Knightfall fan, I think you may have to get used to narrative and fandom uncertainty. (;

Ok so I’m the anon who was yelling at you about not needing KinnPorsche to become my new Special Interest and damn you! I’m hooked! I meant to come bug you after each episode but I binged all the available 8 episodes yesterday and couldn’t stop lol! So thank you, I hate you 😂

I have so many thoughts but can we please talk about Tankhun and Porsche. I kind of love their relationship. Tankhun was annoying to me in the very beginning but I actually really love his character now. I totally related to him watching the same series over and over again because it gave him comfort. I’d rather do that than go out most of the time because I’m autistic and very introverted so I fully understood why he did some of the odd things he did or seemed to overreact in situations like when his beloved fish were killed. I have a kinship with his character and imo he’s sometimes a much needed comedic relief.

I feel he’s mostly misunderstood and pretty much just tolerated by most of the family and bodyguards/staff, but I feel like there’s so much to him. He’s more complex than I think anyone around him fully understands. I loved that during Kinn and Porsche’s wilderness heart to heart, when even Kinn was saying that maybe Tankhun was faking his mental instability to avoid the responsibility of becoming the head of the major family (which I do think may be part of it but for good reason), Porsche defended him and by doing so exposed his own trauma. I love that he made himself vulnerable in order to defend Tankhun because I think he sees past a lot of Tankhun’s dramatics. Even as out there as he seems, Porsche understood him and was able to get him to try new things and leave the safe space that Tankhun tends to isolate himself in. I also love that, as much as Porsche kind of messes with him, most of what I see is him laughing WITH Tankhun rather than putting him in situations to laugh AT him. He messes with him to try and get him to smile, to enjoy life and find happiness.

I think it’s just another thing that shows how gentle and loving Porsche is underneath his cornball outer layer. Sometimes Porsche has moments where he kind of annoys me but what I like about him and his brother is that they’re loving, honest, gentle, and genuine people deep down and that’s exactly what endears people towards him. This is exactly why Kinn was so drawn to him even after their first interaction and why he fell in love with Porsche before he even allowed himself to admit he liked him. He was screwed from the start.

On the surface this show seemed kind of like a corny Mafia drama but it’s filled with complex characters and amazing acting. I love the main couple, as usual, but I rarely get invested in the side characters and it kind of left me speechless. It was a very pleasant surprise. I personally really like shows that make me question my morals and even though some of the situations could be easily identified as harmful, the way the characters expressed their experience after taking time to process things made it easier for me to forgive right along with them.

Ugh! This was long and probably a little all over the place but I’m still just too excited to get my thoughts coherent. I cannot wait for the next episodes to see where this ride takes us!

Ok let's dive in... (you are so right for binging the eps btw - I did the same when I started watching)

I love that you want to talk about Kuhn and Porsche! I haven't really done that yet and I honestly adore that dynamic. The funny thing is that when Tankuhn first appeared I was exactly like you... I basically figured I needed to be on acid to watch his scenes... and then somehow he just weasles his way into your heart and becomes this truly fabulous character?! (Though without even having done acid, I still feel certain it would only enhance 98% of his scenes 😂) I seriously love that you found kinship in him. And also... I never even connected the rewatching series thing to myself because that is so normal to me omg. I'm the exact same too. Serious anxiety (and yes introversion as well) means I do the same 🥺💞. The show actually does such a great job of incorporating in humour (and agreed, Kuhn definitely helps serve that role) without it feeling shoehorned in. It very much feels like a natural part of the landscape and it does beautifully balance out the rest.

And your analysis of Tankuhn's layers??? Holy shit I loved. I agree there is more there than we know just yet. It may play an important plot point or it may just come into things when we get more into the brothers' dynamics (I loved Kuhn’s scene with Kim and I truly can’t wait for a scene with all three brothers). But either way I can't wait to see it. And this: "I also love that, as much as Porsche kind of messes with him, most of what I see is him laughing WITH Tankhun rather than putting him in situations to laugh AT him. He messes with him to try and get him to smile, to enjoy life and find happiness." God, so true. One of my fave moments is this one:

I just loved so much how it was like the two of them vs the interlopers of Kinn and his friends. I loved the whole vibe and dynamic - like, ‘Oh so you wanna hang with us??? 😏’. And, I mean, they're both huge goofballs. So finding commonality in their partying was honestly brilliant.

I also loved the hospital scene between them in the side story too. Because Tankuhn is just being his silly, dramatic-ass self and messing with Porsche. But it just so happens that Porsche is obviously in no mood as he's terrified for Kinn and so he snaps. And I really love that moment of Pete basically being like 'Dude, this is your boss' 😂. Porsche really just never recognized the authority of Kuhn OR Kinn - they're just guys to him - and I love that a lot.

I completely agree re: Porsche's loving, kindness. He's so unguarded and open with the love and affection he gives (to those who warrant it that is... we've seen him withhold it *cough*Vegas*cough*). I love that about his character. When you're in that circle, you're really gifted with the full breadth of Porsche's affection and I think anybody faced with that is doomed to love his dumbass forever (rip Kinn). And Kinn absolutely recognized Porsche's kindness and gentler qualities despite the badass exterior and genuinely worried about the way this life could damage or change that (see: when Porsche shoots that guy the very first time and Kinn is stuck on staring at Porsche's shocked face in the aftermath and then worrying enough later that he actually goes to check on him). What I enjoy in the growth we've seen in Porsche is that even though he has changed and he's really coming into the role of mafia bodyguard, he also hasn't changed and he's still the same gentle, loving, affectionate goofball.

And yeah, I expected corny mafia drama and would have been fine with that. Most BL's lean heavily into the cheese so I was ok with that being the expectation, but this show really took me by surprise. I agree there is far more complexity than you'd initially think. Like the symbolism and art direction alone has left me pretty staggered. There is a lot to unpack and a show I can dig my teeth into like that is one of my favourite things. And as you say, there are some really great and fascinating side characters. And like you, that will really round out a show for me and take it to the next level.

A Night on the Town- Hisoka x Illumi (Hisoillu)

What’s up y’all? Per an anon request, here is a Hisoillu story. Hisoka and Illumi go to dinner at a fancy restaurant to talk about a business contract when a single phrase or word causes them to change the subject. This story will see how they stand on their relationship. Are they only meant to be “friends” or more than? “A night on the town” is a British phrase that simply means someone going to a club or hanging out all night long. Boujee is an abbreviation of the French "bourgeois." A critical term used to describe people, things, and places that are definitively high-class. I am going to try my best to keep this in character. They feel comfortable to joke around each other only. I use places like Earth, Mars, and the US because I assume Yorknew is another name for New York. Yes, I mentioned some Voltron elements too. I love crossovers! Enjoy! Feel free to inbox me. FYI, there’s nothing wrong with eating chicken fingers as an adult. I hate steak and haven’t eaten it in over 15 years. Onto the story!

Rain fell from the sky hard as ever. The sound of the raindrops hitting multiple surfaces sounded like quarters hitting metal. Thunder clapped what seemed like every 60 seconds followed by an alarming amount of lightning. The white and red LED lights lit up the sidewalk in front, casting heavenly shadows on just about everyone that made their way in. “La Lune” is a 5 star restaurant located in the heart of Yorknew City. Tons of celebrities have had dinner there! Madonna, Rihanna, Beyonce, and so many more had taken funny photos with the chef and his wife, creating a memorable moment for everyone involved. Many take the atmosphere of this restaurant as something romantic. The lights were dimmed and the tables were lit by candle light. It seemed like everyone was being serenaded by their lover, except for these two of course. Their occasion was something far from being romantic. Both gentlemen agreed to talk about a mission that would require both of their efforts because if one did not agree, the other would parish. This mission drove them mad. Hisoka lost a few days of sleep just thinking about it!

You see, one of the country’s best space explorers has been running rampant through the streets. These students attended the Galaxy Garrison, a space college and were launched into space. While trying to bring back samples from Kerberos, they were attacked by aliens (known as the Galra), kept in another dimension, and once they returned they began to inflict pain on Earthlings just like how the Galra did to them. These students must have been experimented on because they possessed power that no Nen user could defeat.

Both gentlemen walked to the hostess desk and waited for their attention. Hisoka’s hair was covering part of his eyes. Many people found him attractive; so attractive that people would nudge him on the arm and mimic a “call me” motion with their fingers. What was it about him that people would just swoon over? Illumi stood behind Hisoka with his hands in his pants pocket, impatiently waiting to be seated. You can’t discuss aliens and brats on an empty stomach.

“How may I help you?’” The hostess smiled big as she cupped her hands waiting for his response. Her teeth were pearly white, almost appearing to be fake. But one thing was off about this woman. She stared mighty hard at his face and continued to smile. She seemed robotic. A smile appeared on his face as well; he swore she was undressing him with her eyes.

“Reservation for Gittarackur~♠?” Hisoka nearly said Illumi’s name instead.

“Right this way.”

She led them through a series of staircases and made her way to the rooftop. This building wasn’t too tall, but it was high enough. The roof was decorated with red table umbrellas, glass tables, candles, and hanging LED lights.

This is a little too romantic, Illumi. What gives?

She handed them the menu and walked away. Illumi looked to his right and left to ensure no one was close enough to hear what he was going to say. But before he could say anything, Hisoka opened his mouth and began to make unnecessary comments that got under Illumi’s skin.

“You tend to pick the restaurants with a noticeable romantic atmosphere. Care to tell~♥.?”

Illumi pressed his lips together.

“I do not pay attention to the atmosphere. I pay attention to good ratings and decent prices.”

“Oh! So, you’re a cheap date~♠!”

“This isn’t a date, Hisoka. We are talking about a mission that if it gets out of control, the whole human race will cease to exist as we know it.”

A waitress came over, introduced herself, and offered them a bottle of wine.

Did you plan this, Illumi?

Of course they accepted! Rosé was Hisoka’s go-to. The wine mellowed him out, made him more relaxed and bearable. He placed his thin fingers and sharp nails around the wide-mouth glass and sipped his drink. He smiled as Illumi disclosed more details of the mission.

“What are you saying, Illumi? I’m afraid I do not understand~♠.”

“Listen carefully. These groups of young adults have been experimented on by the Galra. Since their return, they've been stealing, beating, and even killing innocent people. Their excuse for this is by saying that “those people were bad people” based on rumors they’ve heard. They’re a menace to society, not to mention extremely dangerous. For the first time in 22 years, I’m a little worried.”

The waitress came back to take their order. Hisoka had never tried a streak before, so that is what he ordered. Illumi, the picky eater on the other hand, ordered an adult size of chicken fingers and fries. Hisoka gave him the shittiest look of the century. He placed his large hand over his face as he humiliatingly closed his eyes. Illumi squinted trying to ignore Hisoka’s stupid reactions.

“What’s the matter?”

“You embarrass me, Illumi~♠.”

“How?! What did I do?”

“We’re at a nice, romantic restaurant and all you order is chicken fingers, fries, and ranch?! Ma’am could you give us a moment~♠?”

“Absolutely.” Poor girl. Why did she have to witness that?

“What’s your problem, Hisoka?”

“You could have at least ordered the steak, salad, or both! Look around you! You’re going to be the laughing stock of this town! Try strawberry vinaigrette~♠!”

“Well, excuse me, Mr. Boujee! Chicken fingers are delicious and anyone can order them! Why would I order salad when I have lettuce at home?”

“Because it’s good for you~♠!”

“Salad doesn’t fill me up and neither does strawberry vinaigrette!”

They began to talk about the mission again. Illumi hid his fear behind his resting bitch face, but he didn’t know if he truly wanted to go through with this mission or not.

“I’m feeling cautious.”

“What for? I’m sure you can handle it~♣.”

“I can’t. I don't even think my grandfather can beat them.”

“Why so?” Hisoka drank from his glass again. Illumi did not disclose much info because he knew how Hisoka becomes when he’s tipsy. He begins to laugh and talk too much.

“They have an ability that can wipe out a Nen user within seconds.”

“Oh~♥?”

“Yes. They can disappear in the blink of an eye, they have this purple electricity shooting from their hands, and these specific men I see with gray masks that remind me of a plague doctor. They have no faces and they’re purple. Once that electricity hits you, it’s game over. They have the ability to determine if it's fatal or not.”

“Ouch. What’s the plan~♣?”

“Someone that I used to know will infiltrate the base that they’re hiding in. It will be difficult because they guard it but that is when my needles will come in handy.”

“But you didn’t have to cut me off…~♣” Hisoka sang.

“What? What was that, that you did just then?” Illumi was serious. This was no time to be joking around.

“What? I just finished what you started~♣.”

“What did I start?”

“You said ‘someone that I used to know’ and I responded ‘but you didn’t have to cut me off’. Don’t tell me you’re not aware of that song~♣.”

Hisoka smiled something softer than usual and laughed at Illumi’s clueless look. This was something he adored about him; the carelessness made him laugh so hard that he forgot about his troubles...if he had any.

“I understand why you brought me here to talk about stopping the Galra, but let’s enjoy this moment. Just you and I~♥.”

“Why? They are dangerous. They could be planning on destroying us as we speak.”

“You worry too much. Besides, everyone knows of your talent and even if they seem more powerful, I’m sure they’re keeping their distance from you.”

“I thought you’d be overjoyed at this opportunity. You can finally put those chrome cards to play.”

“Who said I wasn’t? I am but I’ve learned to hide my arousal rather well~♥.”

“You didn’t hide it well just a few seconds ago.”

“Touché’. But I was not talking about fighting then, I was talking about you~♥.”

“Hmm.” Illumi didn’t know what to say but one thing is for sure. Many, many feelings and thoughts clouded his mind and body but he didn’t know how to respond to them. He has known Hisoka for some time now and he knew of his ways; if he would just tell him how he felt, he might be surprised by his reaction. Hisoka has flirted and with him several times but for some reason he felt like if he responded he may not get a desired response.

Hisoka began to chuckle, more of a tipsy chuckle. He couldn’t hold back his laughter as he noticed how Illumi’s attitude began to change. Illumi immediately placed his wine glass on the table and squinted in confusion.

“What’s so funny, now?” He sounded a bit irritated but deep inside he was happy he asked.

“You’re blushing~♥.”

“What?”

Damn.

Was it that noticeable?

Sure was.

“I’m good! I never thought that I could make the oldest son of the Zoldyck family blush from my passes. That’s an achievement for me. So tell me Illu, do you dream about me too~♥?”

“Be quiet, would you?”

The magician couldn’t help but to release a hearty laugh so loud that people began to glance in their direction. Illumi frowned and crouched low towards the table.

“Stop it. People are staring.”

“What? I love it when people stare. That means I look good~♥.”

Hisoka continued to laugh. To add to Illumi’s social demise, he stood up from his chair, took a photo on his phone and captioned it: “Best date ever♦”.

“Don’t send that!”

“Oops. Sorry not sorry,” Hisoka gloated covering his mouth. “Guess you’ll have to catch me~♥.”

He continued to laugh but his laughter slowly began to come to a halt and wired down. Now he laid his head on the table, slightly drooling. Illumi decided that he had enough excitement for the night, so he threw three pins in his right leg, which was conveniently under the table. Hisoka had hinted earlier that he would be fine if Illumi ever made that decision. Following behind him for his entire life would be to die for. Illumi smiled as he looked at the man before him, finally silent.

“This might actually work,” he whispered to himself.

The moonlight casted a shadow on him as he admired the star on the sleeping magician’s face.

Yu, Rai and both Jakes.

Actually..If I talk about my feelings I'm pretty well. Don't tell Jake I said that, but I couldn't be happier about our situation. I mean, we can talk again. Without me being kidnapped and finding a weird Tumblr profile of him. (Which we think was a set up by one of the entities of my world since he obviously doesn't have one. Jake thinks it was goldies doing, I on the other hand don't believe that. Don't ask me why, but it feels like goldie wouldn't do that. And it didn't help me either but only made problems. I was distracted because I was writing the profile (you read it, right Yu? I don't know about the others) and angry. Like, really angry.)

Putting that aside, Jake called me, like he promised :) And it was the longest phone call I had for some time. Most of the time I talked and he didn't get distracted once, just listened to me and everything that happened. And then he started cursing, which is kind of understandable. He apologised for being into stasis. And for this other version from before the 'time setting back' thing. Because I don't find a name I'll call it TSB from now on.

The only problem I have now is going to work, I guess I'll take me some vacation...But at least I'm not as scared of the raven-ass anymore. I mean, I still am, but in the moment I know his steps. And I am not alone.

Jake, I intentionally write the next part in red, please don't read it. That's for Yu.

I know you think that Jake sees you as a threat. If it still is like you wrote in the letter. Jake knows that, too and he doesn't like it. You know him better than I do, of course, but without saying too much...I think it's quite the opposite. Talk to him about that. Even though it's probably not the best circumstances I think he enjoys being with you :)

The new thoughts about the blood ritual are really interesting. But please don't put yourself in this danger (or not, but I think it's understandable what I mean?) if it isn't necessary. But I also agree with Rai, I thought the same thing for a while. That you desired having someone, Jake, with you. It sounds plausible.

Two new things...I got a message. I mean, it was a threat (because I am the obviously the bad girl that kidnapped Hannah), but I don't care. Maybe that means the stasis is slowly dissolving!

But number 2...I didn't get the vacation. My boss called me almost immediatly. "Under no circumstances [a word is blacked out] Liska. We have July and Alice, Tim and Jenny all want to take free time, too. You are one of our best workers and we can't afford you leaving now. You have no children so you have to wait. Also Max told me that you don't have any problems in family."

So long story short: He wants me to be there tomorrow. Argh, if he would pay me like he's talking that would awesome. And I'll kill Max when I see him next time. (My cousin that thought it was fun to try and steal my work so we both got the rank of 'one of the best workers'. The only problem: Max' title is official. -.- Overall, I'm so much more annoyed than some time earlier. Maybe I should ask Jake for help

Okay, the Crow Crew drama is fading a bit, so I'll answer this now. Sorry if I seem disjointed at all, I'm probably going to be going back and forth from conversations to this letter a lot. I can't afford to have them all think I'm compromised, I need to focus on getting out of here and I don't want to deal with their pressure on top of everything else.

Yeah, I don't think the Tumblr profile was Goldie either. Goldie seems to try to be very much a "hands off" sort of entity, like my own. The Tumblr profile thing seems a little out of character for at least my Jake. At least, publicly answering your submission certainly was, though he may have panicked since you sent it in on anon and answered publicly without really thinking about it. I guess I could see him having a Tumblr profile for purposes of following people on social media and watching what they post, though. And then deciding he likes the media and posting a little bit of impersonal things that can't lead back to him. Probably my Jake will say something about that when I hand this letter over to him, stay tuned.

Yeah, I at least read some of the things you sent that profile, and I showed what I had to my Jake too. I'm not sure if I read all of it, since it was a bunch of printed-out screenshots in an envelope, but I read the ask where you told him you hated him (fair at that point but ouch that's got to have hurt) up to when you said you'd found Hannah. After that you sent me your letter telling me time had turned back and the Tumblr screenshots ended.

I'm glad you and Jake managed to talk things out. I was sort of worried about how he'd react, but it sounds like he took it pretty well, considering. I'm... not exactly sure he should be apologizing for the stasis, though. Or the TSB!Jake. Maybe especially not the TSB!Jake. Jakes seem to be oddly different from timeline to timeline, just based on what I've seen of them. TSB has been one of the most different so far.

Oh. One thing I should mention that you might not have seen from the profile: The MWAF used your phone to mock the TSB account, and mentioned that TSB wasn't the only person who could hack, and the MWAF blocked TSB from finding your location. Might want to warn your Jake about that.

A vacation sounds like a good idea :/ It's really hard to go back to normal life right after tragedies or trauma. It feels like the world keeps moving on and you're still stuck in place, and you just want to scream at them that they need to slow down, can't they see that the world is

Good. I'm glad you don't feel alone. It's easier to deal with this stuff when you're with someone else, even if it's not physically.

(Jake, my Jake I mean, if you're reading over my parts of these letters skip to the ||| now please.) I'm not saying he doesn't also enjoy my company. I can tell he does. Like I said to Rai, the underlying desire thing is definitely possible. That'd either mean I'm more obvious about how I feel for Jake than I think I am (very possible, I'm not great at hiding how I feel in person) or the entity has some level of telepathy/mind reading. The reason is that chessboard. Since Jake likes chess, it's clear at least to me the entity expected him to come here at some point. I THINK, if the underlying desire thing is true, I can manipulate myself into wanting specific things by doing things like writing it over and over and repeating it out loud when doing the ritual, but I'm not sure.

I agree with Yuvon: "TSB" acts markedly different from myself. There would be no benefit from me promising to be there to find you in the moment, and indeed I would have been falling for a very transparent trap. Even in my possible state of panic, I cannot see myself being there physically, much less revealing myself physically to authorities in the process, unless I was playing the role of bait in a counter-trap. While it is plausible that this was TSB's plan, TSB gave no indication that Yuvon or I could tell that this was the case. Of course, I would have done my best to be there physically in the aftermath of the kidnapping, but not in the moment.

I also agree that the Tumblr profile seems to be out of character for both myself and for "Goldie", though I hesitate to judge TSB's actions by what I myself would do. I seem to vary in surprising ways across universes and even from timeline to timeline, based solely on your current Jake's reactions thus far. I do actually own a Tumblr profile for the exclusive purpose of following social medias I wish to track, but I used a random username generator website for the username and not my own name, and I certainly never posted anything.

The news about the MWAF being able to hack is new to me; I must have missed that the first time I read through the screenshots. That is quite troubling. I suppose I will need to be more careful in future.

I am sincerely sorry your request for a vacation was rejected. I do not know how much you intend to separate your personal life and the Duskwood case, but if your stasis is truly wavering, you may be able to reveal some measure of the danger you are in to convince him to let you flee the area for a small while. Especially since you mentioned in your Tumblr post that you saw a raven note in your wor

Get your cousin and anyone else you care overly much about out of there too. Invalidate any information you can your employer or coworkers knows about you. Do not tell the truth to anyone, even your cousin. Make up any excuses you need to, ask your Jake for help with ideas if you need to. You may also wish to check that the coworkers your boss listed who are going on vacation are ACTUALLY going on vacation.

This is a priority, Liska. You need to tell your Jake all of this too, especially the part with the note in your workplace. You need to get out of there.

I'm sorry but I don't feel bad at all. I unfollowed that blog a long time ago when they started to talk shit in their posts. One thing is you sharing your opinion on something and you have the right to do it, you don't have the obligation to like what other people like. Other thing is coming for someone for having a different opinion on things. This croissenne blog some time ago answered a ask stating that people in this fandom that liked jealousy plots were toxic and the involvement of Jens in Sobbe's business were weird. Calling someone toxic or weird because they like smut that involves more than two people or because they like to read "cheap ass plots" (like they called it) is wrong in many ways. There are writers/readers following that blog that probably felt bad about the things they enjoy. Sure this person is a good writer, don't take this from them, they're indeed good but don't put them as the victim here for deleting the blog because no one made them do it.

Look anon we don’t mince words on this blog so lets actually get all our damn facts strait and come with the receipts if your gonna take that tone with me. This situation began unfolding a few days back concerning croissenne and +18 blog who btw writes fantastic content and truly provides a space for those who want to discuss topics concerning queer sex honestly. They are very few blogs like this in the fandom because the Skam fandom is sorta splits into two categories those who graduated into the remakes and are now over the age of 23+ and those between the ages of 15-23. Thus this weird divide concerning differing perspectives on sex and also personal preferences towards mature content. I understand the frustration concerning the constant spin cycle of criticism when you enjoy reading specific sexual kinks or even something like a threesome. I won't deny there is side-eye and judgement from some mutuals but for me personally I am super comfortable with my sexuality so haters gonna hate so my toxic queer ass is gonna be extra petty and open this big ass newspaper with the headline sander jealousy plot and read that shit at high volume but anyways i get that others aren't as petty as me and being called weird and toxic can create a stigma towards this type of content and hence 18+ blogger becoming a dying breed and beginning to funnel out. I am just saying the solution isn’t going on anon and getting combative and seeking to enlighten or change someone else’s perspective on sex.Like the irony of fans of queer blogs sending anons to those blogs trying to shift their sexual perspective. If you cant recognize why those two things are mutually exclusive and on par well then i dont know what to tell you.
