I’ve just read on TikTok a comment of a E*riel saying that Azriel doesn’t like Gwyn, He even doesn’t consider her a friend…
I think she hasn’t got when the bonus chapter happens… Azriel had just started training the priestesses, He didn’t know Gwyn, he had only seen her in Sangravah 🥺
It’s obvious that he didn’t consider her a friend… Azriel isn’t the type to call friend someone he has just started to see and know… but she made him feel calm and the shadows have reacted to her in a way we have never seen 👀👀👀. She was able to make him laugh and smile even though he was angry and sad, that’s something that not everyone can do.
We see the development of their relationship during Acosf, their banter was >>>>>>>> (This is what you get when you put the two most competitive people together 😂)
Azriel has even helped her to train and has given her lessons. I don’t think it’s just a trainer/trainee relationship and if you read acosf and the bonus chapter you will understand what I mean…
The words Sarah has used to describe the scenes with Azriel and Gwyn… example:
Something sparked in Azriel's chest, but he only nodded his thanks and left. He could picture it, though, as he ascended the stairs back to the House proper. How Gwyn's teal eyes might light upon seeing the necklace. For whatever reason .. he could see it.
There are obviously more evidences…
I don’t think this is how someone reacts to a person who he doesn’t even consider a friend:
“There are plenty of other unspeakable things that could be happening to her,” Cassian said, voice thickening. “To Emerie and Gwyn.” The shadows deepened around Azriel, his Siphons gleaming like cobalt fire. “You—we—trained them well, Cassian. Trust in that. It’s all we can do.”
When Cassian was talking about Nesta, Azriel didn’t have a physical reaction, but the moment he mentioned Emerie and GWYN, the shadows deepened and even his Siphons gleamed…
I have the feeling they’re mates and the shadows have confirmed that for me 😅
This was what I wanted to say, thank you so much for reading it 🥰🥰

"Hm? Naked? What are you talking about? I'm clearly dressed. You have to get your head out of the gutter... ugh I need to get home soon and rest, feels like I've been researching all night..."
You were part of the Galactic Survey Corp, sent out to search for your partner Akari after she went out the day before to do some research. You finally found her doing what she normally did. Only it seemed she had a run-in with a psychic type. She was hypnotized, her eyes swirling a bit but she seemed pretty much normal. Other than the fact that she thought she was dressed when she was naked. It seemed to be a common occurrence, the same thing happening to a lot of unlucky trainers who ran into the Pokemon. It was best not to break the illusion, since doing so usually meant a lot of embarrassment and anger. She looked towards you as she rubbed the back of her head.
"Whatever, I got some pretty good research done, I'm almost done mastering this area, maybe tomorrow I'll head towards the Cobalt Coast and gather some data on ghost types... seriously what's up, you keep staring at me like I have three heads."

Ta!au HC but Hisui addition
\ Ash and Dawn naturally fall into the unspoken position that Dawn would do most of the talking-if the other people weren’t being rude-and Ash would be a silent shadow behind her.
\ I haven’t really placed when their Ebbie Debbie to Hisui is, between Ash’s first break right after Unova for Extra Angst™ or after Ash leaves Kalos-think he’s on the plane with Pikachu and then just straight disappear before the plane lands in the next region-so before his second, but regardless this is when Ash gains a lot of his height and muscles. like he shot up in Hisui regardless of his age and or when it is in the timeline.
\ like he’s 5′3″ going in and 5′7″ coming out with a body mass of around 200+ of pure muscle. Dawn also gains a little bit of height, going from 5′3″ to around 5′5″ but she’s only gained like 30 pounds which she finds a little unfair-even if Ash did 90% of the heavy lifting just he could avoid conversations.
\ its scary how easily they both fall into a method of nonverbal communication. having an entire argument with just a few glances, which Dawn actually wins most of the time, and they copy a lot of movements.
\ “Look! over there!” *Ash and Dawn making the same move and moving at the same time despite probably being across the room from each other*
\ Ingo is brought in before they gain the rank to go to the Cobalt Coastlands and it’s the first time the majority of the survey corps hear Ash speak more then a couple of sentences at once. just like in my fic-Backyard Brawl-Ingo regains his memory in the same way but it’s a lot more bloody. they have to be pulled apart from each other and Ingo goes on this rant before stopping and realizing that he remembers now.
\ there’s not a lot of healing in Hisui so Ingo just naturally sticks close to Ash and Dawn over the Pearl Clan and avoids Irida like the plague. getting rid of the Warden gear and instead wearing what ever Dawn is able to put together for him. which is actually some really good clothes despite being more modern looking then Hisui’s traditional clothes after she befriends the clothe shop lady.
\ Ingo also gets Ash to open up more, talking and sharing stories of their double battle in Unova with Cilan, and something in Dawn’s chest unfurls itself since Ash was getting more and more quite.
\ Pikachu is a beast in Hisui as Ash doesn’t need him to really control his strength against Alpha Pokémon and both Dawn and Ingo realize just how powerful the duo are when it’s Ash being the one to physically take down the Alpha Garchomp in the Alabaster Iceland's after Pikachu gets thrown off the sheer cliffside by it. Don’t worry Ingo caught Pikachu before he landed on the ground and seriously hurt himself. the Alpha Lucario was drawn by the fight and the aura signature so that battle between it and Ash happened right after Garchomp was caught.
\ Rei is terrified of Dawn and Ash and it shows but he still follows after them when during survey work because he knows he won’t be hurt by the other Pokemon.
\ Rei also doesn’t start trusting them until they start looking around the Crimson Mirelands and his Pikachu doesn’t do well towards a lot of the Pokémon there. Ash takes the time to struggle with himself to help the kid-he’s about 14 around this time at least which hurts Ash’s heart more then he cares to admit-and his Pikachu bond and strengthen each other.
\ the only time Dawn and Kamado can be in the same space for long periods of time before Dawn snaps is when she’s either sparring with Ash and Ingo or watching them off to the side. Kamado always seemed to have some kind of free time when the two male trainers dominate the mat after an early dinner.
\ Kamado is totally attracted to Ingo but he shoves it down since it’s wrong to him, this may or may not lead to his ancestors having a natural preference towards strong and lean women-until Rowan can get his hands on the real deal and falls head over heels after actually getting to know Ingo after he gets dragged back from Hisui
\ Adaman has to play messenger between Ingo and Irida and though he gripes about it to Dawn and Ash out of ear shot he knows Irida is hurting bad and can see just how hard Ingo is trying not to think about the trauma of being gone from his timeline for years.
\ Mai totally shows Ash and Dawn how to consume Hisui weed and their smoke sessions are the only time Ash will speak for hours on end. his voice raspy and kind of broken from disuse but the two will always encourage him to cotninue speaking.
\ Adaman has to play peace keeper between the future Trio and Melli until the very last moment that Melli tries to stop them from helping Lord Electrode. he just raises his hands, tells the trio that Melli is all there's, and just walks off far enough he doesn’t see nor hear what's going on for a few hours. he feels extremally guilting for leaving behind his childhood and best friend in the grasp of the trio but Melli needs a strong grasp of reality that Adaman can’t offer.
\ Ash and Sabi vibe hard after he caught her before she could start their game of chance. he lets her go so they could still play but he immediately gains respect from Sabi for just how fast, flexible and strong he is.
\ Lian reminds Ash of Max and after helping Lord kealvor Ash stays in Dawns shack that night to whisper stories of the small Hoenn boy. how he’s started his journey and is around 12 to 16 now depending on the timeline of when Hisui happens. how his partner is a shiny Treecko that Ash tries to draw from memory.
\ it’s the first time Dawn has actually seen Ash break down under all the stress that Hisui had shoved upon them and neither get sleep that night.
\ Dawn absolutely does capture an alpha Empoleon while Ash ends up with the Alpha Torterra. surprisingly Ingo capture's the alpha Infernape as it reminds him of his Chandelure back in Unova. the warmth Infernape brings him actually reduces the amount of nightmares Ingo has through out the entire night.
\ out of everyone in the survey corps, Professor laventon is the trio’s favorite hands down

Chapter 46 of Way Out is up!
This is the last chapter of this intermission, which means next up is the Cobalt Coastlands! I'm taking a bit of extra time for myself between then though, so it'll be like an extra week or so.
Anyway, here's the formal introduction of Felipe! The one grace of the slow pace of comic making is that I can retroactively work newer stuff in, and I wanted some Gen 9 rep. The Uva Academy of this time period isn't much like what it is today, with a lot more elitism and its attitude towards the 'Treasure Hunt' is... well, I'm sure you can guess.
This antagonist is going to be more Rei and Juno's problem, though, because it's time for them to step up as trainers and learn to deal with this guy without needing too much guidance from the others

HELLO! Ask and ye shall receive! I wanna hear about your Pokemon OC you were talking about 👀
First things first you are a saviour and I am proposing and building you a shrine as we speak thank you so much <333
SECOND
His name is Katydid Sunblaze and his son is Nico Sunblaze (And Laurel but she's still a wip)! Katydid is based closely on the Legends Arceus game whereas Nico is based on the Violet game!
Katydid worked at a pokemon control company (similar to animal control, he subdues wild or out of control pokemon that are threatening people) in Alola with his Lucario, Vick-Tori (named after his favourite musical)
His family were strict and highly respected, and cut him off when he chose his career because they considered it below the name. Katydid never left it, though, and eventually met his first partner! A grass trainer from Sinnoh named Laurel, corner by a pack of wild Magmar that Katydid and Vick-Tori took quick care of.
Laurel originally came to Alola to complete the Island Challenges, but when something between her and Katydid sparked, she permanently moved there and they eventually were married!
They had a son, Nico, and that's when Laurel retired as a trainer herself and became a coach for the younger ones. Katydid kept his job, personally, and was moving quickly up to even become a manager for the company!
One day he was called on a weird job full of pokemon not even his pokedex could identify, and when he got to the place, he was swept up and away.
[Cue Legends Arceus intro]
The travel back in time had caused so much stress on Katydid that his mind repressed most of his memories, only the thought of his wife and son giving him the motivation to get up and look for help as he fell in the Obsidian Fields instead of near Jubilife Village.
It was Volo who found him, and brought him to the Village, but the professor still recruited him for the research as Vick-Tori was brought with Katydid so it was clear Katydid was skilled in pokemon training!
Most events go the same as the game does, the only difference is Katydid sticks closer to Volo. He would go days without eating or sleeping, instead focusing on the research at hand or calming the frenzied nobles as a distraction. Katydid reasoned with himself that if he carved a place for himself in this world, he'd get the help needed to get back home.
Then he was exiled, as in the game, and all hope seemed to drain from Katydid. It took Volo, Cogita, Irida, AND Adaman to drag him out of his depressive state long enough to gather the Plates and the Red Chain. During this time, Katydid relied heavily on Volo and the two even started a very loose relationship. Katydid seemed to accept he was never getting back to his wife and son, so he thought building a life with Volo would help instead.
Yeah uh,,, Volo's betrayal really destroyed him. Katydid had fought, of course, because Adaman and Irida asked him to, but it hurt every step of the way. When it was done, Volo didn't even stick around for a goodbye. Katydid searched the region for him multiple times over the next month, because he just wanted answers. Or closure. Or he wanted the only stable thing in his life back, considering he'd never get his other family back.
It ended when Katydid's depression was the death of him. As that month ended, he was at the Cobalt Coastland one final time. His exhaustion taking its toll on his body until he ended up collapsing in a cave. He let his formed team out of their pokeballs, telling them to go explore while he rested, and fell asleep. Sadly for him, the cave belonged to an alpha Arcanine, and while he slept, his life was ended while he was alone </3
His story doesn't exactly end there, his legacy is carried on in Nico's story! But that'll take even longer and I have a friend who reblogged the request so I'll put Nico's story in there :DD
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ASKING YOURE REALLY AWESOME ONG <333

"You look like shit." ~ five
( @thenightmareofyourdrems sent a prompt from here - always accepting! )
Tumblr media
At first Klaus said absolutely nothing, wraiths of War flickering behind his dilated pupils and the dusky presence of hollowed-sound gracing his innermost ears-- they were silent to the other occupant of the room but deafening to him, locked in the purgatorial state between the here-and-now and the long-since-dead.
Green eyes looked down at his own shoes- a filthy, bloodied pair of cobalt trainers -as the weight of shame hit him like a fucking freight train. It caused a dizzying spell to cast over him, and he knew if he didn't sit down soon he would timber over against his will.
Odd, how emotions and intoxicants could do the same thing depending on how strong they were on the onset.
"Awww, darling brother of mine, thank you so much for your kind words of wisdom, tell me-- are there any other little nuggets of insight you have for me or is that the depth of your compassion?" he asked with a voice loyal to the expression on his face; somewhat lost, entirely intoxicated and most definitely not alright.
He could utter any other plethora of things bluntly and explain his bloodied face, broken knuckles and state of dress without being asked, but he could also fuck right off and spend the day alone with Prince Valium and his nightmares.
He did neither.
Instead he situated himself close enough to his brother's tainted aura to be absolutely irritating, a rustling movement stuck in the peripheries as he unceremoniously draped himself atop the chaise. A few seconds passed before his head fell backward and he let out a shuddering breath.
"D'you think it ever gets any easier? This whole trying to save people that just end up dying anyway thing? Or does it cause agonizing, debilitating pain that haunts every waking moment until death? Asking for a friend..."

Show Your Resolve - ARCHIVED RP with @fungalpieceofshit
Content Warning - Violence, Blood, Injury (Trainer and Pokemon).
Snow did not normally fall on the Cobalt Coastlands. It wasn't that chilly here. It wasn't even all that windy. The cloud cover that had formed seemed to swirl perfectly around the moon, showing off its eerie glow that put a spotlight upon the land. One specific location in the Coastlands. A cove. One Rose had mentioned going to upon her blog. One that Mutt knew held the spirit relishing its newfound freedom.
Lucien was on edge. His eyes were focused forward, peering unblinkingly on the path. He had Mutt on his back, the Luxray's training allowing the Jackal to stay comfortable for the long trek as he kept a brisk pace heading down the path. He seemed to have Rose's scent, and he was on it immediately. Barry, on the other hand... seemed tense. He wasn't being playful. He wasn't being sassy or defensive. He looked uncharacteristically more and more scared as they approached. Like he was sensing something more and more wrong.
And eventually... they saw the why.
The Zoroark, grinning maniacally. Standing straight, towering over the entire area. Arms outstretched... and showing the blood dripping from its side and cheeks. How it was still alive was incredible, but... it looked black. Corrupted. Vile in a way that wouldn't normally be seen from a living being's body. Rose's phone was thrown off to the side and Todd was cowering off to the side. He took note of Mutt, and yipped in desperate relief.
Which caused a snap of the Zoroark's head. An audible snap, cracked back to look at Mutt directly, which made Barry shudder and back up faintly in terror as Lucien snarled.
-------------------------------------------
The lack of Pokémon the closer they got- no Aipom, no Glameow, no Mothim, nothing- was almost more unsettling than the unnatural chill. Almost. The cold and snow confirmed Mutt's suspicions the closer they got, threatening to cut all the way through his clothes. He was reminded of one brutal winter back home, one where folks he'd been roughing with had failed to wake up when the sun went down.
One could only hope the being responsible didn't choose to really let it plummet.
There was no hope of being discreet once Todd saw them, crying out in relief at seeing familiar faces. So he called back. "Todd! Zoroark!!" He gently patted at Lucien's side. Thank you, buddy. I can take it from here. And off he slid, feet hitting the cold wet ground with barely a reaction from him. Necks weren't supposed to twist like that.
He still didn't know what would convince this spirit to release his friend. But he would have to try.
-------------------------------------------
Todd mewled, standing up from their curled up position to try and run over. But the shadow underneath of them reached up to grasp at his form with red wisps, dragging him back and pinning him down to the ground with a strangled yelp. Ghost type moves weren't supposed to affect him, how was--
The Zoroark's body twisted in turn to match the neck before lunging forward, jaws agape. A guttural roar, as deep as any Alpha's, shook the entire cove as their claws immediately shimmered with a sickly red energy. It wasn't normal Ghost typing. It almost seemed Dark. Or even worse, something that transcended types entirely.
Lucien did not care. He reacted quickly. He reacted decisively. He knew this was Rose, but there was nothing stopping this from becoming a problem. So right in front of her friend stepped the Luxray, his fangs flaring with darkness of their own. Crunch.
And it landed. Audibly. Sickeningly. The crack was heard throughout the cove just as the roar had, and even Lucien winced at it, letting go. He hadn't intended to--
"SYL--" Barry had noticed it right before it could happen. It was a feint. Meant to exploit the bond they had. Evil. Because the shadows nearly came right up to grasp onto the second-guessing Luxray. But blessedly... there was a Sylveon to yank him out of the way, panting in a mixture of anger and terror while black blood dribbled from the newly wounded Zoroark's claw.
-------------------------------------------
These weren't moves. They had no typing. This was the Zoroark acting of their own power, their own rage.
He'd been meaning to dodge before Lucien decided to fall for the feint, and Barry yanked him back. Good job, Barry. If they could avoid being caught, they could avoid getting hurt- and hopefully hurting Rose any further.
Mutt stood his ground. "I'm not here to fight you. I'm just here to get Rose and Todd back."
-------------------------------------------
The moment he said this... there was a Zoroark in his face, grin creasing upwards in a horrifying cheshire stare. The fangs curled upwards in a way that warped the very conception of how skin was supposed to stretch, and opened its mouth. Without using its jaws... it spoke.
"No. They belong to me."
Fangs met with cloth, fur and skin. Jaws large enough to cover an entire shoulder, clamped right down and gripping hard enough to potentially even reach bone. But there was a moment of shock. Just enough for Mutt to react before lasting damage could've been done, their bite... losing its strength.
They didn't QUITE expect to be biting into a walking, breathing amalgamation of mold. It was enough to stun someone who, for the first time in ages, could actually have genuine sensation. And this one was vile.
-------------------------------------------
In that moment, Zoroark learned something only a few had any reason to know.
He was mostly mold. Vile, death-tasting stuff, the kind of thing you immediately wanted to rinse out of your mouth with the strongest alcohol you could find. Sure, he let out a YELP of pain and staggered a bit. His eyes glazed in a way that spoke of seeing stars dance across your vision.
Then experience fighting creatures so much bigger and more revolting than he ever could be kicked in. He gripped at fur and skin- one hand on the shoulder, one in the fur on Zororark's chest- and a leg in just the right spot. And he threw them down. Hard. He might not knock the wind out of the being but they would be Down, and off their feet, and he could stay on top and prevent them from hurting anyone else.
He had kinda warned Rose some of this would hurt.
-------------------------------------------
Hurt it did. There was a much more genuine strangle of a yelp as they collided from the ground, snarling out with harsh waves of power. How DARE this pathetic creature?! It coughed, spit out some of the blood and let its eyes immediately flare for a moment longer as they tried to squirm. They weren't a physically adept fighter... but there was something they had that the Jackal didn't.
Malicious intent.
The grin began to extend once more, and the wisps upon its body flared brightly with a bitter cold that violently began to whip around Mutt's body. And this time, it was Lucien's turn to save someone, tackling Mutt off of the fox. And thus becoming the new target.
Energy whipped around the Luxray, curling around and lapping at his body. Sores began opening bit by bit along his flesh, and by the time he landed back on the ground from the momentum in front of Mutt? The large cat was now violently shuddering. Blood dripped from sores all along his body, and there was something very wrong... frost was nipping at his body, and his breathing was haggard and weaker. That attack... was cold. Both in its afflictions and its intent. And Lucien was not doing very well in such a state.
The Zoroark's legs straightened up, feet planted... and they simply willed themself upright, an uncanny curve upwards to hunch forward, roaring out harshly. Right as Barry slammed a beam of dazzling energy into the less injured side of the Zoroark's body, shuddering with tears flowing down his face. Barking out some rather choice sounds, it seemed like he was reaching his limit of patience, and fear was bleeding further and further into anger.
... when did that stone get here...? Right beside Mutt, knocked loose from his pack after Lucien's impact... what was that? An orb of sorts? It... felt warm to be beside it...
-------------------------------------------
Mutt had zero chance to say anything before Lucien tackled him to safety. He barely let out a "NO-" before realizing his lungs were devoid of air and going into a coughing fit. And that's when he felt it. The warmth. The nudge against the smooth white stone that had fallen out on impact and which he now looked at, stupefied, as Barry began to choose violence.
Everything clicked. It felt like several minutes to him but the realization took fractions of a second for everyone around him- Truth had invited itself along. And it was not happy to have its human under duress. Reshiram wanted Rose back, too, they just had the muscle to actually do it... once Mutt got them close enough.
He put a bloodied hand on the stone, mumbling something like an apology at dirtying its surface, and picked it up. He'd get them close enough. Up he got. Up came the stone.
And towards the Zoroark he went once again. "OI."
-------------------------------------------
Barry was trying his best to hold his own. He was Rose's strongest. He was Rose's smartest. Her partner alongside Nanami. Someone who truly understood her on a level others couldn't. He loved her. And this monster was taking her from him! He needed to do something! ANYTHING! And all he could do was keep himself alive while Mutt did something! Lucien was struggling to breathe from that bad of an attack, but he was still standing, gritting his fangs to endure the pain.
The stone flared with blue flames in Mutt's hand. It did not hurt. It actively felt comforting to hold, even. And as he dashed forward, Barry took a claw straight to his side. It went deep enough to cause damage. But it didn't go deep enough, the Sylveon glaring up with a bark of anger, ribbons ensnaring the fox's arms. They grabbed. They clung on with their fangs. They pulled to make sure the Zoroark would stay still just long enough. And right before another flare-up could coat the Fairy in malicious anger?
Three spots all on the Zoroark's body flared. Blue flame gripped right on, a strangled SCREECH of agony shouting out from the beings mouth. The side that had been ripped apart. The cheeks. And their mangled hand, all sparking with a furious flame. It clung on like a liquid, dripping off as it ensnared the wounds upon its body.
It began to creep up their body, forcing Barry to let go as Mutt kept the stone close enough for the Legendary Dragon's power to work. What felt like minutes dragged on. What felt like an hour ticked on by. Time didn't feel real, hearing that ear-piercing screech... it was almost like Rose herself was letting it out.
By the time it had rendered the being incapable of moving, hitting its knees and collapsing in a writhing heap, its entire body was engulfed, flaming harshly enough that the heat radiated. The stone fell from Mutt's hand almost by accident, bouncing and rolling over for a moment to reach the flaming being...
Upon touching her? It revealed Rose's form had been restored... mostly.
The mask was still upon her face. Her side, with a visible tear in her uniform, was no longer bleeding. It had been cauterized, sealed by the fire to keep her from losing too much blood once the transformation had been halted. But it would need emergency medical attention immediately. Her hand wasn't nearly as badly damaged as once expected, but... there was still a visible bite mark upon it from Lucien's attack.
Todd was right beside her. He heard that screech. And he knew. He knew something had happened. Without anyone expecting it, he was right beside her. He was barking, yipping, squeaking out as many little sounds as he could, tears streaming down his face as he tried to pry the mask off. She was visibly breathing, if barely, curled up as she was, but clearly not awake.
The mask would not move. Todd bit the nose to try and pull it off. It didn't move. Barry grasped with his ribbons. It refused to leave her skin.
They had Rose back now, but... what came next...?
-------------------------------------------
Now, they picked up the pieces. They did damage control.
It was probably futile, but upon realizing the stone had fallen from his hand almost a whole minute ago(?), Mutt tried to help Todd remove the mask. No dice. It was stuck.
His attention promptly went to getting her back to camp, where the Medcorps were waiting, so that he could treat injuries on himself and the 'mons before making their way back. With a gentle click of a button, off she went, teleported by her Arcphone. Good. That's one thing done. He then retrieved the stone where it had fallen on the ground. Still a bit warm.
Now he had two injured Pokemon, a wounded shoulder, and if he stuck around long enough, the local populations would start trickling back in with the threat gone. Pokemon first.
It took multiple Potions to get Lucien to stop bleeding and get his shivering down. Mutt gently held his big kitty head in his lap, praising him for being so brave, before recalling him to his ball. Barry got much the same treatment- even if his wounds weren't as severe, he was bleeding and he was scared. Even gremlins need comfort sometimes.
Then he used one Potion on himself. Just enough to stop the bleeding. He was losing strength in that arm with the pain finally kicking in properly.
He rose his good arm to gesture Todd over, and gently embraced him. "It's okay. It's over. We're gonna be okay. Let's go home."

Ayo I saw something like this a while back
Can you imagine you fall into Hisui but you kept all your memories and you keep going through all this bs cause Arceus. ANYWAYS you see Ingo but like it’s obvious he doesn’t remember you cause your husband is a big baby and would’ve been hugging you in an instant, but you continue on dropping hints or at least trying to his memory in the right direction.
To him your a stranger but for some reason he feels so much love when with you, his brain is confused but his heart is screaming in pure love.
But it’s not till he sees you get absolutely bodied does he truly remember you. Be it from Lord Electrode or an alpha Pokémon, or hell he is walking through the village towards the training grounds and the guards are screaming to get a nurse ready and you’re being carried in.
Idk makes good hurt comfort in theory
ik ur ask didn't inspire me into 3000 words...
anyways:
My Sweet Lord
cw: blood and injury mention,
words: 3349
One moment, Ingo said he was going to investigate some strange light that had appeared in a tunnel. You, feeling clingy, asked to tag along. He had considered you for a moment before relenting. The tunnels always felt a bit eerie to you, as large concrete tombs meant for only vehicles and trained staff to explore. His arm moved to block you when the anomaly came into a view. A strange, white portal with odd black clouds surrounding it. Ingo yelled for you to run. Suddenly, a strange suction overcame you both, pulling you to the blinding lights. You screamed alongside him, panic leading you to try and escape, but the power of the force was impossible to escape. Desperately, you reached out for your husband. Just before you hand could grasp his gloved one, he slipped into the portal.
Tears burned your eyes as it began to shrink. No! You refused to be taken away from him. Running towards the lessening pull, you felt your body get consumed by a strange airlessness. An empty void all around, not a sound to be heard. Well, until a strange pulsing, glowing form appeared before you. A voice echoed heavily into your ears, willing you to the apparent 'Arceus'. It warned you of entry to a strange world and demanded you seek out all pokemon in order to find them once more.
Then, darkness consumed the nothingness around you.
You landed on a beach, being jostled awake by a strange man. Moving away, you blinked a few times. This place… Was not Unova. Not at all. It was soon after that you were informed of your entry in Hisui. You were unsure of the word but recalled something in an article about how Sinnoh received its name. That was impossible. You could not have been well over two hundred years into the past.
It was true, unfortunately. You came to realise as the supposed Professor Laventon pleaded for your assistance in gathering his unruly pokemon in pokeballs. Pokeballs that were not made of the modern plastic or metal but, rather, wood. You caught them with ease, having been a trainer in your youth. Technically, you still were recreationally. Nothing like your husband, of course. Speaking with Laventon, he promised an attempt to earn you a place to live in Jublife Village, but nothing concrete.
You were put through the absolute ringer. That was sarcasm, of course. Catching a Starly, Shinx, and Bidoof felt almost humiliating as a task. You pet the Bidoof while you were welcomed to the Survey Corps and given a uniform by Captain Cyllene. Your assignment, naturally, was to complete the pokedex. You felt ten years old again despite being well into your twenties.
Your life fell into a strange lull of catching pokemon, battling a frenzied noble when entering a new area, and dealing with whatever drama the Galaxy Team or the clans decided to toss out. Currently, you were on your way out after calming Lord Arcanine of the Cobalt Coastlands. What waited outside your door had you stop dead in your tracks.
Ingo, your husband, was passing by. His head turned to you. Mentally, you readied yourself for the touching reunion between the two of you. No movements were made by the man, however. Suddenly, you noticed his condition. Pristine work coat had clearly lost a battle with something that had claws, white button down was replaced with a Pearl Clan tunic, and his gloves were completely gone. "Good morning, fellow who came from the sky! Commander Kamado told me to let you know he awaits your arrival in his office," he spoke, his voice a bit more muted than its usual volume. You nodded, and he walked off somewhere.
That was Ingo… Right? You were certain it had to be. No one else could have his coat, hat, slacks, and shoes. That was Ingo. "Ingo!" you called out. His head turned around to look at you. Confusion was present on his face. Oh, no. What do you say now? His eyes showed no recognition of you. It hurt. "Uh, what's that ring on your finger?" you blurted out, unsure if it was still even on. He lifted his left hand to his vision and gazed at it carefully. "Ah, well, you know… I'm not quite sure," he answered, twirling it around, "I believe it symbolises something important to me. How about yours?" Ah, observant as always. "Marriage. My husband bought it for me," you explained simply. Would he catch on? Ingo nodded before walking off.
Kamado instructed you to handle the next frenzied Noble, Electrode, as usual. A newcomer, Warden Melli, barged in and made a scene which led to you having to battle Adaman. After that, Cyllene went over the particulars of the mission to you before checking to make sure that you were at a high enough rank to even go enter the highlands. You were, of course. Most of your time had been dedicated to the pokedex, desperate to 'seek all pokemon' as commanded.
You headed to the training grounds, where apparently both Ingo and Irida awaited you. It felt strange seeing him again. He still gazed at you with unknowing eyes, which stung you harshly. Irida greeted you with a new kindness, thankful for your help and some of her growth from the coastlands. "Hello! This gentleman is Warden Ingo, who serves Sneasler," she explained, motioning to him. He stood stiffly, a bit blankly even. It was not necessarily abnormal for Ingo to lack movement and expression, words were his forte while Emmet's was expression, yet he seemed too muted.
Even still, you were not all too surprised Ingo had become a Warden. He was an amazing trainer with unbelievable patience. It was hard to resist the urge to lean into his side, as you had always done. Ingo used to be so adamantly against PDA, fearing it would make him look unprofessional. That changed as you slowly grew closer and closer. Now, however, it felt impossible. Ingo did not know you at all.
"Pleased to properly meet you. I apologize for the abrupt how-do-you-do before. I am the warden Ingo," he introduced himself correctly, hand going behind his back and the other tipping his hat slightly. His phrasing reminded you of his introduction on the Single Battle Line. Another small needle into your slowly shifting heart into a pushpin. "I understand you’ll need a hand from Sneasler in order to meet Electrode. Whether she’ll see fit to help you, however, we can only find out by making the journey. Now, let’s have a safe journey to Mount Coronet! All aboard!" The last phrase was enunciated with a familiar pose.
Oh, Ingo. You found yourself giggling at his antics. His posing stopped as he stared at you carefully, a light pink making the smallest hint across his cheeks. Irida darted her eyes between you two before speaking, "He's a bit like you, you know." It was hard to not smile at that statement. Irida, dear girl, you have no idea. "Oh, how so?" you asked back, controlling your tone coolly. "Well, he appeared one day from who-knows-where," she began while Ingo nodded in confirmation, "What's more, much of his memory seems to be missing. Maybe travelling with you will help fill in some of the gaps in his memory."
You certainly would like to try. Out of everyone in Hisui, you were probably the person who wanted his memories to return the most. They parted from you with a simple goodbye and a promise to reunite in the highlands. Naturally, you immediately went after them. Ingo waited for you in front of a cave, stance a bit tired. It was nighttime, after all. "Hi, Ingo," you greeted him with an awkward hand wave. It was strange. You usually met him with a kiss to his cheek and a long hug. Dinner sitting on the table as he blabbed to you about his day. You truly missed Unova. Running water was a sacred gift, and you would kill for a nice bath. Especially one with Ingo.
"Hello…" his voice trailed off, like his thought got lost somewhere in the space between his brain and his mouth, "May I ask something?" You were caught off-guard but nodded. "You do realise that you have been speaking to me in another language this entire time, correct?" Had you? The language of Hisui was something you had to learn from Laventon, a fellow Galarian speaker. Of course, Ingo was someone you subconsciously would respond to in that language.
"Ah, sorry! This is what they speak where I'm from, Unova," you wondered if the word would jog anything in his brain. He nodded. "You know… In my world, there's these crazy strong trainers. Uh, do you know what a trainer is?"
He shook his head, "I don't believe that I do. The word does seem familiar, however…" His hand stroked his goatee. Poor, baby… Ingo hated whenever he was able to go without a shave. Though, he was certainly pulling it off.
"Well, they are people who train pokemon. Simple, right? My husband is one of them, along with his twin brother," you explained, leaning into his side as he guided you through the cave. A direct approach would likely scare him off. As much as you hated it, a subtle, hinting manner would prove more beneficial.
"Your husband… You mentioned him before. He gave your ring to you, right?" Ingo asked curiously, silver eyes glinting with something else. You nodded with a small smile. "I think I was married, too. I can't remember much at all…" He stopped and closed his eyes. A moment of silence was had, "I'm starting to recall a man who looked… like me. We'd battle and discuss Pokémon, I think… The words "I like winning more than anything else" flashed through my mind just now…" Emmet. You wished to say his name. Why did you not? Ingo deserved to know of his twin brother.
"Funny that is… I have a friend who said things like that back in Unova. He was a Subway Boss, Emmet," you prodded his memory carefully. Ingo froze completely for a moment. He shook his head suddenly before continuing on. Though, you heard him mutter a 'Your combination is the best, perfect!' under his breath. Leaving it alone, you continued to walk with him.
He guided you through the highlands with ease, never straying too far from you. It was filled with mild conversation or a comfortable silence. Never once did he comment on your close proximity to him. In fact, a few times he even leaned into you or brushed his hand against yours. No longer that soft, spongy hands you could recall. His body seemed harder, too. Had he put on muscle? You could not imagine. Not your twig of a husband.
Stopping before a steep cliff, he looked up at it. Clearing his throat, he spoke again, "You would never expect to be able to climb such sheer cliffs as these, yes? But with Sneasler as an ally, it becomes the work of a moment. She is so at home on a cliff face, one might think she knew some secret— some hidden move…" Ingo seemed constantly on the verge of recollection but never able to truly climb over the cliff. He shook his head. You knew he was doubting himself. A longing overcame you to cup his cheeks and reassure him that he was doing everything perfectly right.
"What am I saying? Hidden moves? There are no such things in Hisui, surely… Yet I feel as though I was on the cusp of remembering something just now… Just who was I before I came to Hisui?" he questioned himself more so than you, "If you fell from the sky… you come from another world altogether, most likely. Perhaps a pokemon battle with you would jog this memory loose… Would you honor me with a battle, my dear?" The term of endearment made heat return to your cheeks. "Of course, Ingo," you grabbed one of your pokeballs, "I… want to thank you, for listening to me. You remind me so much of my husband…" Tears burned your eyes as you took form across from him.
Ingo stared at you, a look of hurt in his eyes. "I see. Well, all aboard, then! Machoke, prepare for departure!" he yelled out, volume more reminiscent of what you heard around the station. His Machoke was sent out, and you imitated him with your partner. A harsh battle soon followed. Ingo's skill as a trainer had not at all lessened from his memory loss. He kept you on your toes as he always had. It was something you loved about him, his competitive spirit. In the end, however, you came out victorious. His eyes closed, and a small smile came across his face.
You were introduced to Lady Sneasler before Ingo announced his departure. Part of you wished to beg for him to stay, but you knew that he would be unable to help you with whatever was to follow. An Electrode, huh? You could only hope they were not as fond of exploding as their modern counterparts.
Melli served as a deterrent once more before finally relenting from Adaman's scolding. Now, the arena was yours to battle. Carefully, you took a deep breath. Nearly dying for a fourth time, an exciting event to be sure. The next few minutes proved your wishes untrue and led to much more pain than necessary. You would bear it; you needed to. In order to get yourself, and Ingo, home, these Nobles needed to be calmed and the pokedex finished. A well-timed explosion caught you off-guard before everything returned to the void once more.
Your screams echoed through the mountain. Ingo's trek home stopped. Anxiety burst through his veins as his heart raced a speed which was surely unhealthy. His flute was played, and the mountain was scaled. His feet refused to stop moving until he observed your status with his own eyes. The Moonview Arena had a small crowd around it. Melli looked terrified while Adaman knelt beside something. Team Galaxy members, guards and medics stood around. Ingo shoved his way through.
A loud sob escaped him as he saw your injured state. Everyone backed away from the volume of his voice. Adaman moved from you to allow the Warden a place at your side. His memories crashed into him like a freight train. The shock and trauma of seeing you so bloodied and battered… Ingo was overcome with brutal emotions. His partner, his spouse… His lover. Your hand was grasped by the silver-haired man. Pleas for you to wake up, to not leave him racked through his system.
A guard had to drag him away from you as they rushed you back to Jublife Village. Barely could they remove him. The ring was now a heavy burden on his left hand. Melli stared at him as if were mad while Adaman asked, "… You were close to them, weren't you?"
"They are my spouse. I love them more than anything…" he managed to get out, "How could I forget someone so precious to me? I should have never let them come with me in that tunnel." The Diamond Clan members were confused. You would have cleared the caves of the highlands with or without Ingo, surely. Of course, Ingo was referring to how both of you ended up here. He should have made you stay in his office. There, you would have been safe from all the dangers posed by Hisui.
Irida heard his story with a heavy heart. She was not the type to normally force something, but her respect for the bond described by Ingo between you two had her demand that Kamado allow Ingo to see you as soon as the doctors would okay it. Hopefully this would stop Ingo's seemingly endless crying while he blames himself for every single thing that had happened to you since your arrival in Hisui.
He stays by your bedside, talking to you about anything. You do not ever respond, still unconscious. Everyone around the region is talking about the sad tale of reunion and immediate loss. His hand grasps yours, and your wedding ring is twirled around by him. Why had you not just told him? He would have believed you. From the moment his eyes had first landed on you, his heart filled with unconditional love. It confused him; the deep affection that had seemingly sprung from complete nowhere towards a stranger. Everything became worse the more that he passed at your side, and how you spoke of your homeland.
The warmth of your body at his side while he walked you through the cave was something that made him feel complete. A strange piece of him that had been missing but had finally been returned. Emmet. You even mentioned Emmet to him. Everything you did was an attempt to remind him of who he was. His lips press to your forehead as he gives you an unwilling goodbye.
Melli, strangely, apologised to him. It was in the purple-haired man's normal way of doing things, of course, but an apology was given. He appreciated the kindness. Lady Sneasler had taken to clinging to him and purring, hating that her dear Warden was so melancholic. He scratched his cheek and let her do as she pleased with him. A week passed before he knew it.
You woke up, exhausted and with your bones screaming in pain as you tried to push yourself up. A hand gently pushed you back down, forcing you to relax again. Alright, you had been absolutely bodied by Electrode. You would rest this time. "Sorry, doc… I thought I dodged in time," you joked, hoping Peselle would forgive you. "You most certainly did not dodge it 'in time'," a voice that was certainly not the pink-haired woman's own chastised you. Your head whipped over to see an extremely tired Ingo sitting beside you, hat laying on his lap while his coat hung off the back of the chair.
His eyes stared at you with a familiar stare that Emmet often got after doing something childish. This was no longer the amnesiac Ingo from before. "Uhh… hey, honey," you nervously spoke, not wanting your first moments of consciousness in who-knows-how-long to be one of Ingo's scolding rants. He could go on for literal hours. "How are you feeling, darling? Do you need a doctor?" Ingo asked, looking over you thoroughly. Oh, no. He had entered his mothering mode. The last time this happened you were banned from using knives over an accidental slice with dicing tomatoes.
"Ingo, hey, do you remember everything then? I don't think Warden Ingo would be calling me darling," you changed the subject before he could truly get started. Ingo gazed deeply into your eyes before gently grabbing your left hand. It was then brought to his lips where he pressed a kiss onto your ring. "I do. I know that you're my spouse, and that I am Subway Boss. Oh, and that I have a twin brother named Emmet," Ingo answered your question, "By the way, dear, do you mind not nearly dying? Or do I need to lock you away in my cabin? If this ever happens again, I do not believe my heart can take it."
You laughed before motioning him closer. He leaned in slowly. A flinched happened as you pulled him in for a long kiss. His eyes fluttered closed as did yours. It lasted much long than it should before he pulled away. A warm, calloused hand grabbed yours while rested his forehead to your own. "I love you more than I believe words can say," his voice was no more than a whisper. You smiled and tightened your hand around his. You had more reason to finish everything you started, but…
A little patience wouldn't hurt. No, not with Ingo at your side as support.

Drawtober 2023 - Day 18
With their trainer being a popular coordinator, Cobalt has taken it upon themselves to block and shoo away nosy Rotom Phones who hope to take a photo.
Electromagnetic fields and waves aren't comfortable for them, I imagine!

Figured I'd share this snippet from one of the pokémon fics I've done some sort of work on!
Thoughts? If any?
His fingers curled around the ear of a coffee mug. Steam rose from a tree bark-colored drink. This met with the thin pair of glasses pushed tight over his golden irises. His lenses were fogging. Indents would certainly be left on his nose. But nothing- Nothing would be tearing him from his desk. Not even a headache and blurring vision.
I'll be finished soon, he thought. He removed his glasses and wiped them with his lab coat's sleeve. His self-made painkillers would activate within the next five minutes. They should supply him with the boost he needed to continue his work.
In the meantime, he scanned the desk's various items. Most of the clutter consisted of post-its layered in scale-like patterns. He kept his hot coffee close by. In the event of spillage, it would be best for him to be the victim. He wouldn’t dare revisit the library if he ruined their precious books, which were stacked against the wall. His small family saw enough trouble. Nevermind how he now saw himself in trouble.
"I think your research is pointless. Pokémon are individuals like us. There's never going to be a way of bringing out their "full power" without sacrificing what makes them special. Humans need more studying. We're who take them on long journeys across regions. We are their "potential".
"Haven't you thought about how mega evolution works? Pokémon can't retain who they are if they don't have an anchor- A trusted partner. What about z-moves? Pokémon holding z-crystals in the presence of a trainer with a z-ring pull energy from them. They're already perfect creatures. It's us who need to be the best we can be for their sake."
Once again, he asked himself: where and how had his daughter developed her theory? What could she have experienced that he, a man who fully dedicated himself to science and technology, somehow missed? Humans were meant not to improve their partners, but themselves?
Though he yearned for answers, he put any questions regarding his daughter's sources aside, and put her theory to the test.
He started caring more for his pokémon than their basic necessities. Klink, his ace, didn't seem like it would respond to affection. Gears, as a rule, served no purpose other than to move processes along.
Oh.
Oh.
How wrong he had been about sentient gears! Nowadays, Klink's dual faces would pout when asked to return to their poké ball. They complained as much as a Patrat with a stomach ache!
He couldn't help loving them for their quirks!
After these experiments, he visited Striaton City. An elderly couple lived by the local preschool there. They sometimes cared for pokémon and eggs, typically those belonging to the next-door children.
The best part of his trip had been acquiring an egg! As it so happened, the couple who ran the pokémon daycare bred the Unova region's elemental monkeys for prospective trainers. If he was going to perform more experiments, he needed a proper test subject.
…Right. It had the additional side effect of making a girl's birthday special. Most children today had pokémon companions. Why shouldn’t she be bestowed the same gift?
"Dad? You're awake?"
The voice may have come suddenly, but he wasn’t startled. He tore himself from his work and found a short figure in his doorway.
His visitor winked a honey-hued pupil while rubbing the other. Blonde hair, which normally tumbled down her back as straight as a ruler, splattered around her shoulders. A fine line of cobalt blue strands dangled behind her left ear.
Furthermore, sounds of clinking metal came from the hallway. Moonlight streaming from breaks in the bedroom curtains reflected off a pair of floating gears.
He took a second to register the new data. Familiar pulsing sensations in his forehead came to the forefront of his mind. How annoying. Those painkillers weren't enough to stop his insufferable headache...

hello everyone! sorry for not posting in days again. there's barely anything going on here in sinnoh. sorry, I can't just make stuff happen at will!
Cobalt is still out, so we brought him to rest near the pokemon center! azure refuses to go inside, so we're resorting to the next best option: Stealing potions from the pokemart!
Humans won't react well to seeing a weirdly colored ghost type with no trainer nearby, so this should go easily! I doubt that the underpaid cashier there values their job more than their life, so they'll absolutely let us steal!
One problem: Azure is scared of humans.
..wait, you didn't say we were going in there TOGETHER, did you?
Don't worry! I've asked some ghost types from that haunted house if they could come along and help us be spooky! We should be fiiine!!
gg-ghost types? from that haunted house?? are you trying to give me a heart attack or something??
Will you PLEASE stop being so scared of everything??? I already told you, they're on our side! AND IM A GHOST TYPE TOO!! I'VE BEEN SAYING IT SINCE WE FIRST MET YOU DUMMY!! All they're gonna do is make some of the items in the store float around and make us look scary! WE'LL be the ones giving people heart attacks!
...if you s-say so..

Episode 2
And we’re back! Rereading what I just typed out, I found this episode kind of frustrating. It's good, but all these plotlines could be So. Much. Better. if they just cared about making this a good show and gave it the time it needed to be one.
Ah, Halsey my beloathed. Since last we saw her apparently making her escape clean, she… apparently got captured by some mysterious person? Who? Why? What planet is she on? How was she captured? Did Keyes sell her out? She’s certainly being well-treated. All last season’s stuff didn’t teach her anything, as most of what we see is her manipulating a girl to try and get answers, causing her to promptly drop dead. Conclusion: Halsey may suck, but so do the people holding her.
Meanwhile, Riz is doing training stuff, and clearly suffering. Kai checks in with her, obviously concerned, and pushes her to work on healing. Riz blows her off. Kai, oddly to me, suggests Riz put the emotional-suppression pellet back in if she needs to deal with the pain. Riz flatly refuses: “You’ll have to put a bullet in me first.” (Same, girl.) There’s a lot going on here—Riz’s feelings towards what was done to them, why she chose to remove the pellet and who she is now that it's gone, her near-death and the struggle to rebuild herself… the team’s relationships now that they’re unprogrammed and developing personalities…
(Again, we are missing SO MUCH by rushing in this show. Fuck catering to all the old hands who bitch about every episode that isn’t 95% shoot-em-up fight scenes. Go replay the games on God mode or w/e if that’s all you care about. What’s the point of making this show at all if not to tell the parts of the stories you can’t in the game medium?!)
Speaking of Kai, John tells her that Ackerson doesn’t trust him. He also drops his… vision? Memory? Of Makee on Sanctuary. Kai: “She’s dead. I shot her myself.” Uhhhh, maybe don’t remind him of that? (I honestly thought they were going to open this season with John and Kai estranged over that, actually. My sweet baby Kai loves people, but she doesn’t yet have the ability to be wise or tactful for them…) John’s obsessively checking up on Cobalt Team, and they’re MIA (or something). I pity the poor sign kid just trying to update the board with no actual info. Bring it down, Chief.
Back on Rubble with Kwan, and things are tense. Some shifty guy goes after her—why? Because she's a known associate of Soren’s? Wait, why is she tagged?? Ripping it out looked painful. Daaaamn, apparently Soren found time to teach her some moves, she’s a badass now. I was afraid they’d go the Rose Tico route and just write her out since she was unpopular, but I guess they decided to level her up instead. We’ll see if that shuts the haters up. “Ruby Ann bought Soren’s crew, he’s not coming back”—ah, so the tag was Soren’s way of protecting her? Aaaaand Kwan spaces a guy and kills the other by stabbing him with the tag. I’m still left with a lot of questions—how come Laera didn’t inherit/ take over the crew? Did she authorize the sale to Ruby Ann? Where are she and Kessler, and are they all right?
Riz is back to working out, pushing herself too hard. She has a spotter/ trainer who’s an absolute sweetie. He’s pushing her to think about her future—what options do Spartans even have, if they don’t go rogue like Soren? And what’s the trainer’s (Louis?) story?
Another scene with John going up against Ackerson, and seriously, the hell with that guy, ugh. He claims no one can back up John’s story about Sanctuary (do these suits of armor seriously not have bodycams? After all the surveillance tech on their ships that we saw in season 1?) Ugh, I had worried about Perez not backing John up. Does she have a concussion/ brain injury? Or is she being leaned on?
Kwan and Kessler have a moment where Kwan smashes Kessler’s faith that his dad is coming back. Laera has a tense moment with the ranking remaining members of Soren’s crew. They’re stalling on the ship repairs for some reason. I think they’ll end up regretting that they underestimated Laera.
We go back to Riz, apparently doing some sort of terrain/ environment training? Yep, and Master Chief nails her. The team banters a bit. Kai is worried, but Master Chief sends Riz up again. It’s a very grim scene as Riz struggles and eventually goes down. She’s not ok. John keeps pushing and pushing. He wants to go after Cobalt Team. Kai is getting more concerned about not just Riz, but John—you can feel how out-of-true the team is right now. Riz taps out.
Another day with Halsey, another (clone?) girl (Julia?) serving her tea and dropping dead during questioning. I suppose if they’re flash clones it would explain why Halsey’s so willing to treat them like they’re disposable to get the info she wants—to her mind, that’s what flash clones are. Poor girls.
We get a rapid series of bits: Riz and Louis talking as they wait—at a doctor’s? A church? Something Riz hopes will help her, somehow. Ackerson trying to manipulate Kai, whose loyalty to John keeps her from falling for it, but her naiveté means she still says a few things I think he’ll use. Damn. Don’t give him anything, Kai! John shows up at Perez’s place and would have lost that bet if her Abuela hadn’t stepped in. Good life advice, John: no one crosses Abuela. Any abuela. Abuela always wins.
(Sidenote: I notice we’re getting a lot more glimpses of civilian life here—Louis, Perez’s family… I can only assume they’re setting us up to ugly cry watching all these people die horribly.)
Back to Riz, who’s meeting with ??? What? A freakin’ psychic? What is going on here? (I keep forgetting this mystical stuff is a part of this universe…)
John’s dinner with Perez’s family is just as awkward as you’d expect. Abuela and Mamá are the MVPs for trying to keep the boys under wraps here. LOL forever at the gamer quizzing Master Chief John-117 with “C’mon, man, you don’t play Spartan Attack?” Babe, he plays all of them. I’m dying, Perez is having a heart attack, where’s Kai’s charisma when you need it. Aaaand then they figure it out, gracias a Dios for Mamá keeping them from losing their minds. Perez eventually loses it and leaves, and John gets to question her at last: she didn’t tell Ackerson because of the trauma and uncertainty. Master Chief’s pep talk could use some work, even if somewhat accurate.
Back to Halsey and OMG, WTF the person holding her is ACKERSON??? (Don’t you people DARE try to rehabilitate Halsey with me by contrasting her with Ackerson. I promise, I can and will hate them both.) Where are they? Does anyone know he’s holding her here? I assume she’s still on Reach, and never made it off-planet? How did he catch her? She tells Ackerson a story about a pomegranate tree that she’s never told anyone, saying he must have Cortana since he knows about it. So Cortana does have all Halsey’s memories after all??? (Up to the point of the flash clone’s creation, anyway.) (There’s a MILLION implications to unpack here.) (Also, on a personal level, the story about Halsey rebelling against the garden/ pomegranate tree made me unbearably smug. I just KNEW when I wrote that fic that Halsey hated working under other people.) Also, where IS Cortana? Ah, so it turns out Halsey’s in some sort of holodeck prison thing. Hopefully that means all these Julias aren’t real and haven’t been dying after all.
Ah, here’s Cortana! Stuck in a Faraday cage. I don’t love her new look. Whatever project he had her working on, he was NOT pleased to hear the results: 97% chance of failure/ disaster/ etc. Cortana presses him on the truth that he won’t be coming back to see her again, and he agrees. (Apparently he’s not planning on bringing her along? IS this man a complete idiot?) As usual, the show gives us the bones (here’s where Cortana is) but no meat: how much does Cortana remember? Does she miss John (or anything else?) Does she know what’s going on now? Is she actively trying to escape? What does she want?
I assume the doom and gloom are about the famous Fall of Reach, which I have heard of, and I wonder how this plays with a completely unspoiled audience. How coherent is this without it? It seems to me that the show is relying on the audience’s foreknowledge both to make sense of some of this, and to do the work of building the appropriate level of dread for them.
Back in Spartan-land, John figures out that Cobalt Team never left Reach, and Silver Team goes after them. Kai presses him on the authorization and the nature of the mission. John lies about the first, but answers the second: “The Covenant’s on Reach.” It’s a great WHAM LINE.
Finally, we see how right he is: Marines fighting monsters in the dark, the glowing blade weapons going on and off to great effect. At last, we see Makee! Our toxic girl is back! And I love her outfit—anyway, Makee is back and stealing the artifact, again. (Where was it being held that no one is noticing this? Clearly not on the main base anymore.) She’s also bossing aliens around, which tells me she didn’t suffer too many consequences for deciding to flatten the whole plateau to save John at the end of last season. (This ties in to some thoughts I have about how everyone views those events, which I’ll save for next episode.)
I’ll end with this note: the alien Makee addresses pushes back slightly with the comment that “there is no honor in this fight” against the marines. It’s the first I’ve seen any such sentiments from the Covenant. Why the concern now? Is it the stealth nature of the mission? The theft without an honest battle? I seriously doubt it has anything to do with unfair advantages or killing weaker combatants/ the innocent. I mean, these people destroy whole planets. Maybe they’ll take some time to start developing the Covenant’s (various) cultures.
Or, you know, that would be a great thing to do in a show that had the time to be a fully fleshed-out story… instead of what it feels like this season: a new high-res montage of cut scenes and fight playthroughs. I guess they got tired of people watching the real thing on Youtube.

I have some more general ideas for AUs-turned-fakemon. None of these are Legendaries or Mythicals, but they might be pseudo-legendaries. I think certain characters, like Ink and Error, can have to exception made for them.
Seraphoenix (Ink): A Fire/Ghost type pseudo-legendary who is probably banned in the competitive scene. The final evolution of a three-stage line that starts with an adorable Cutiebirb, this Pokemon was worshipped and heralded as a god in ancient times. Taking inspiration from phoenixes, in order for this Pokemon to evolve, it must have fainted in battle after reaching a certain level and friendship level with its trainer. This idea was made with a nuzlocke setting in mind, signifying that he has defied death itself and returned to his trainer. This Pokemon has its own signature ability that I'm still developing, but it is broken and can only be achieved by evolving with perfect IVs/stats all across the board.
Zaptyr (Error): An Electric/Ghost type pseudo-legendary. His name combines "Zap" and "Satyr" into one, and his appearance is based on a satyr. For this one, I wanted a more impish or devilish counterpart for Ink's Seraphoenix idea, as Ink's name features "Seraphim" and he's meant to be a heroic figure. This Pokemon is notorious for causing mayhem wherever it goes and can travel through electric wires, sharing many similarities with Rotom. Despite having a clear rivalry, this Pokemon is often only able to be calmed by Seraphoenix, or if bribed with enough treats as an "offering". Strangely, if it goes long enough without encountering its heroic rival, Zaptyr will begin throwing tantrums and seeking Seraphoenix out.
Sakuratcha (Ink): A Fairy/Grass type that combines the words "Sakura" and "Matcha" in its name. A relatively recent idea, this Pokemon is heavily themed around desserts and its diet consists solely of various berries. Though the exact dessert is undecided, it is planned to have some similarities to Alcremie, though it may be more closely based on cake or a traditional Japanese sweet. This Pokemon doesn't do well in the heat and prefers to be pampered by humans. It is extremely rare to find this Pokemon in the wild, leading many to suspect that it is a manmade Pokemon.
Cobaliffon (Blue): A Rock/Steel type that combines the words "Cobalt" and "Griffon" in its name. Drawing inspiration from Cobalion, many people suspect that there is a biological connection between this Pokemon and the Legendary. Some people also say this Pokemon has a "dog-like" personality due to its immense loyalty to its trainer and protective nature.
