Background:

Taking place in a world where 40% of the population has super-powers, super-hero schools have been established. Made to help students with controlling their powers, while at the same time, educating them in a high school curriculum.

By now, your lips were entrenched in his eyes for the amount of time he had been staring at them. These appeared almost as if painted on his irises. But you had not realized this until when he brought his hand close to your face to touch it - as when a child sees something so beautiful that it becomes irresistible for him to reach out and touch it.

He stopped just before and lifted your chin slightly. You shushed and reset the distance with a quick kiss. As soon as your eyes opened again, you noticed that there was a little of your lipstick left on his lips that you used to use.

You began to giggle and pointed to his lips, and before long he realized. And his confused look was replaced by a sincere smile.

"This color looks good on you," you said referring to your lipstick.

"You think so?" he replied laughing slightly, and about to remove the color from his lips with his hand.

"Yes, wait till you take it off! Let me prove my point!"

Therefore, you took his face with your hands and kissed him again. First on his lips, then on the edges of his mouth, on one cheek, then on the other, on his nose, on his forehead, and then again on his mouth. Jungwon, taken aback, froze. Trying to keep all his muscles still, but the very one he could not control-his heart-began to beat wildly. This closeness to you, zeroed in by your kisses, and your perfume made him blush more and more. After you saw your boyfriend's face, covered with kisses the color of your lipstick, you blushed too. He was so charming, as always, and in that particular moment, you felt him closer to you than ever before. His wide eyes, his barely visible dimples, his rosy lips, and his sparkling eyes were all you could focus on.

You could have stayed like that forever, simply staring into each other's eyes and smiling. But the silence, which before was filled by the sound of your kisses, was interrupted by your stomach rumbling. It was after 9pm, and you had not yet eaten anything.

"Wanna order something?" he asked. You only managed to nod, still with dreamy eyes. After ordering, you two placed yourselves on the couch. You sat cross-legged, and Jungwon lay with his head on your legs. Distractedly you fiddled with his hair while scrolling on your phone: he slowly closed his eyes, lulled by your touch.

You suddenly came across a trending tiktok video featuring two lovers who were covering each other faces with kisses. You took it as a sign to do with him that video, coincidence or not. You gave it a light shrug, and he sat down with his eyes closed partially and his hair still tousled. He could continue resting after you quickly explained the video you planned to make. He strolled over to you and nodded without expressing much understanding before placing his head softly on your shoulder. You begin filming the video, and after a few initial failures because of your constant laughter, the perfect clip arrived. You held your breath throughout the rest of the video as he gently removed the intentionally applied incorrect lipstick from under your lip.

"The color is a little off, may I?" Although you asked in a low voice, it was clear to everyone that you both wanted it badly by this point. He gave a nod, but he stopped you just as you were about to put on your lipstick. He took your hand and, without saying a word, moved his head to indicate that he wanted to put it on you.

You handed him the lipstick and giggled: "Have you ever put lipstick on someone?" And after a firm "no" in his head, he started applying it. He mimicked the movement as he attempted to explain.

"Put on with your lips as if you were going to give me a kiss." Without saying anything, you obeyed by holding back your laughter.

He had a flawless aura of concentration, and you had never seen him look so serious. He also had his tongue between his teeth and his mouth slightly open. Even though you were struggling to not smile with your lips, your eyes showed how happy you were within.

Everything in you was smiling at that moment.

He eventually succeeded in applying it fairly successfully! Your favorite part —when kisses broke the silence— came back. His gaze was locked on your lips as they moved slowly at first, before swooping across multiple parts of his face. His heart continued to race with your bodies chained and holding his face.

Just as the deliveryman with dinner arrived, you finished the video. Jungwon did not want to take off his makeup, even after observing the man who was carrying your food's confused expression...

🚨CALLING ALL BYLER TRUTHERS THIS IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT!!!!!!🚨

i literally have not posted in months because i've been EXTREMELY busy preparing for college, but things have calmed down a bit so i'm making time for some good old byler

now i don't know how many of you were involved in byler twt in august-september of 2022 but there were a couple of huge theories that are still talked about today

the ones i'm gonna be talking about in this post are:

birthday gate

will byers/harry potter parallel

will and mike teaming up in s5 & getting stuck in the upside down

if you don't know what birthday gate is, you've been living under a rock, but to summarize:

in s4 when el is being bullied by angela and the other kids at the skating rink, there's brief clips of the scene through a retro handheld camera with the date in the corner. the date in that scene is march 22nd, 1986.

march 22nd is wills birthday. we know that because in s2 when will is possessed by the mike flayer, joyce attempts to bring him back by asking him if he knows what march 22nd is; his birthday.

that would mean that the day when mike, will, and el go the roller rink is will's birthday—and no body, not even joyce or jonathan, mention it. the duffers said that it was an accident and they haven't watched s2 in years. this is complete horseshit. there are several direct references to s2 in s4, such as max saying "that's presumptuous of you" to lucas just like she did in s2. also,

idk about you but REALLY seems like they're teasing us about his birthday not really being forgotten.

there's several other theories about what this means but the most popular is that vecna has taken the other's memories about will to target him and make him feel like no one cares about him. all of vecna's victims are carrying some sort of trauma, and he can only target them when they're emotionally vulnerable. why is he targeting will? that's a whole nother rabbit hole.

this is where the harry potter theory becomes relevant.

i don't know where the picture is but the duffers posted their inspo board for s4 and there's a shit load of movies and tv shows, including harry potter and the chamber of secrets.

there's a shit ton of parallels that i won't get into, except these:

in chapter one of chamber of secrets, harry is sad and angry because it's his 12th birthday and no one remembered. the dursley's have never acknowledged his birthday, but he expected ron and hermione, his new best friends, to send him letters like they promised, but they haven't. not only did he get none on his birthday, he's gotten none all summer.

sound familiar?

if birthdaygate is true, this is an obvious parallel. will's birthday was also forgotten and it makes him sad. however, in chamber of secrets, it's revealed by dobby that ron and hermione have been sending letters all summer—but dobby stole them so that harry would think no one liked him and he wouldn't go back to hogwarts. some people think that vecna could be paralleling dobby as he took the others memories of wills birthday. but since i'm a byler loser, i wanna talk about this: there's another theory that mike was actually trying to call will awhile they were apart, but the phone was always on hold because of joyce's telemarketing job. wills thinks mike doesn't care about him, but mike was really trying to reach him the whole time. i made a post about this that's pinned on my account, feel free to read and come back

there was another theory on byler twt/tiktok that will and jonathan will move into the wheeler's basement since they're back in hawkins with no house. this was just supposed to be a fun 'what if', but i realized that this could also parallel chamber of secrets.

ron weasley realizes that something must be wrong since harry hasn't written back all summer. he and his brothers take their dads enchanted flying car to rescue harry from the dursley's. after that, harry stays with the weasley's for the rest of the summer. in the movie it's only like a day or two, but in the books it's about a month. if will byers moves into mike wheeler's basement i'm going to lose my shit.

here's where it gets fucking crazy

when september first hits in the camber of secrets, harry and the weasleys go to king's cross train station to go to platform 9 3/4 where the hogwarts express is waiting. ron's parents and siblings go through first, then harry and ron. well, ron and harrry try, but they just run into the wall. the platform is closed and they're stuck on the other side.

HELLO???????? WILL AND MIKE ARE GOING TO BE STUCK IN THE UPSIDE DOWN FUCKING CONFIRMED

ron and harry stupidly decide to take the flying car to get to school instead and catch up with the train, which ends in a bit of a disaster (they crash into the womping willow).

this could play out in s5 in a lot of different ways, but here's my theory

maybe all of the gang will be in the upside down for some reason and mike and will are left behind. this is really interesting if vecna is actually paralleling dobby, because dobby is the one who closed off the platform. there's a theory that vecna is targeting mike as well because he knows mike makes will the happiest. maybe he traps them both in the upside down to take out mike first. or maybe, like dobby, mike (ron) is trapped by accident. i also think it makes sense that mike and will being in the upside down would parallel ron and harry flying next to the train. in stranger things we all know that the upside down looks like hawkins, but isn't. there are several times that we see characters in the upside down communicate and work together with characters in the real world.

do you see what i mean about it just making sense? mike and will in the UD working together with the others in the real world to get to the same place or goal, just like ron and harry got to hogwarts with the others on the train, just in a different way.

anyways i'm losing my fucking mind byler is endgame

Notes: so I came across this TikTok and like immediately got an idea for Albedo and as I began to type more ideas were presented and I was just skipping a round to different characters writing what came to mind LMAO

“Can I accessorize your hair?” (Maybe restyle it to if they have long hair)

Zhongli

“Dearest, you don’t need to ask. I’m more then happy to cooperate.”

You felt as if you were near faint. The way he said that was just so IDK BUT ITS ZHONGLI OKAY like luscious and reassuring that it made your heart swoon.

“See I told you he’d agree!” Hu Tao chimed in, suddenly entering his office.

You quickly thanked Hu Tao and made your way to Zhongli.

“I’m sorry if a sudden tug or so hurts.” You quickly apologized.

“I’ll be okay, dearest. You won’t hurt me, so please don’t be so nervous.” He reassured, giving you a gentle smile.

Happy that he trusts you like this, you quickly but gently got to work. Careful not to tangle his hair and such.

“How was your day today?” He asked out of the blue.

“Hm, it was okay. I ran into Childe today so he took me out for lunch.” You responded.

“May I ask how you got these clips?” He questioned you.

“Oh! Um Hu Tao gave them to me! They were really pretty so I thought you’d look really um pretty with them in your hair!” You said, visibly happy.

He laughed a bit, you were honestly so readable in his opinion but even if you were readable, you weren’t very predictable.

You always took him by surprise with your actions rather then what he could in take from your facial expressions.

Nonetheless it made him happy that you wanted to spend time with him like this.

He was incredibly lost in thought, that he didn’t notice you had finished.

“Zhongli? I’m… done! Hello?” You began waving at his face.

“Ah, apologies dearest. What did you say?” He asked, “Oh! I said I’m done!” You cheered.

“Then excuse me, I would like to see what you did.” He excused himself as he exited the room.

When he came back, he wore quite a big smile and hugged you ever so tight.

“It looks marvelous, my beloved. You did a remarkable job.” He expressed, giving you a kiss to your forehead.

He invited you to stay with him for the rest of the day, as the day was almost over.

You happily agreed and kept him company for the rest of the day.

Childe

“YES!”

A little too excited about this.

You had been sitting in your shared bedroom, going through some things and you came across a bag of hair clips Qiqi had given you.

Quickly getting an idea, you sprinted to where your boyfriend sat and sprung the idea onto him.

On one hand he was taken by surprise, he thought something had been wrong. On the other hand, he was ecstatic when he heard your question.

He absolutely loved when you played with his hair, so it’s to no surprise that he almost immediately invited you to sit down.

“My, my, aren’t you excited for this.” You laughed.

“Of course! Who wouldn’t be? I love the feeling of you playing with my hair!” He said, shamelessly.

He looked like a huge puppy rather then your boyfriend. You swore you could almost see a tail wagging.

As you sat down, you got busy right away. Small talk was something that was quite common during this.

Childe enjoyed this, so he was mainly just silent during this, throwing in a few questions here and there. He seemed to hum happily when he could feel your hand nestled in his hair.

It was only a few clips, but you were terribly indecisive of where they should go (which is why it took awhile)

Once you had finished, you pulled his face close to yours and gave him a kiss on the cheek. He looked adorable with clips in his hair.

“Can I look now? Can I, babe? Please, can I look now?” He persistently asked, causing you to laugh a bit before nodding.

He sprinted to the nearest mirror and cheered super loudly.

“I love it! I love you! Thank you so much! It looks amazing!” Literally pulling out every complement he could think of.

He gave you the biggest hug and stayed there. Yeah you weren’t going anywhere for awhile lol.

Kaeya

“Pfff… babe, I said you didn’t have to ask when it came to my hair.” (besides cutting it, that’s a big no.)

He laughed at your semi flustered face.

You had only decided to stop by his office due to the fun clips and flowers you found.

You did not expect to be teased for something like this, you wanted to get his permission even if he has said it’s okay.

“You look so cute when you pout, I couldn’t help myself!” He defended his actions, earning a slight glare his way.

“Mr. Calvary Captain, don’t you have work to do?”, you sneered, “I wanna play with your hair, but I don’t want you to be distracted from work.”

“Fine fine, I promise I’ll finish my work…” he said, bringing his attention back to the stack of papers with a sigh.

As you make your way towards him, he suddenly pulled you into a kiss.

“Still so very flustered, babe.” He laughed, kissing your forehead once more.

You scurried to hide your face from his view point by staying behind his chair. Quickly distracting your mind from what he just did, you began untying his hair and brushing it.

The office was filled with a comforting silence, as all that could be heard was either the sound of paper, the writing of his pen, or the clips you had put in his hair.

After awhile, he finally gave up.

“This stack of papers seems endless… [name] I don’t wanna work anymore!” He complained.

You hugged him from behind and comforted him. You did laugh a bit because this was normal.

“Kaeya… this work is important. You know it is, so keep going! You got this!” You encouraged him.

Giving him a quick cheek kiss, seemed to help his motivation as he almost immediately got back into it.

He looked more focus then before, giving you the chance to put the finishing touches on. He knew when you had finished as you silently cheered at your creation.

As to not cause him anymore distractions, you rushed out of his office. Saying a quick and quiet “Love you. Good bye!” Before actually leaving.

He couldn’t help but chuckle a bit, before he decided to go to the bathroom to see your creation.

He made sure to make a mental note on thanking you somehow.

Diluc

“No.”

He doesn’t get it. He really doesn’t. Where did this urge come from? He was busy working and you just waltz in with a bunch of little clips and flowers.

After awhile, he begins to ponder at what your doing and why you’ve been quiet. Leaving his study to go find you, he passes one of the Winery’s maids whose hair was adorned with colorful flowers.

“… I have a feeling I know who gave her those…” he mutters, slowly leaving the winery.

Outside you sat with the maids on break, carefully and quickly decorating their hair with clips and flowers.

Laughter filled the air as you chatted with the maids, they filled you in on a lot of stuff while you styled their hair.

Seeing you smile so happily, Diluc couldn’t help but smile as well.

“Is there room for one more?” He interjected.

Which startled you, as you had been in your own little world, so drawn into decorating maid’s hair.

“There’s always room for you!” You cheered, patting the ground next to you.

Diluc took your invitation and sat down next to you, admiring you whilst you worked diligently. The sun was at its highest point, which alerted the maids that it’s time for work!

As the maids all thanked you and left, you let out a sad sigh. Diluc leaned on your shoulder a bit before speaking.

“Love, would you like to play with my hair? I’ve finished everything I needed to, so I’m plenty free.” He explained.

Immediately, your spirits were lifted as you began dragging him into the winery with the biggest smile on your face.

He was happy and content when he saw your smile.

Albedo:

“Go right ahead, love.”

He’s prolly used to this question because of Klee. But he definitely was curious as to where this urge arose from.

“Did Klee approach you with idea?” and as if on cue, Klee comes bursting through the office door with a bag full of clips, bows, extra hair ties, you name it!

“Klee came with materials! Did Mr. Albedo say yes?”, she asked, to which you nodded causing her to jump up and down.

Albedo laughed at the adorable scene that played before him. Nothing warmed his heart more then when you and Klee got along comfortable.

“Mr. Albedo, Klee needs you to sit on the floor, so [name] and Klee can start decorating!” the young girl instructed.

Albedo quickly got seated and comfortable on the floor, as you and Klee quickly got to work on his hair.

“Klee you brought a hair brush right?” “Yep! Klee has it in her bag!” she exclaimed, quickly rummaging through the bag and pulling out the small hairbrush.

As you brushed his hair, Klee started sorting out the clips and bows she had. Excitedly, she ran into Albedo’s view and asked him what he thought was best.

“How about we go with some simple colors today, Klee? Purple and… blue?” he answered, Klee agreed almost immediately and began searching for blue and purple clips.

After brushing out all the tangles, you and Klee spent the rest of the afternoon decorating Albedo’s hair with tons of clips and ribbons.

He wore them proudly to work the next day (let’s say y’all had a mini sleepover in his office)

Thoma

“Of course you can, babe!”

More then happy that you wanted to do this. He definitely likes the affection you give and this just felt like another affectionate moment to him.

His face was giddy with excitement as he sat down to give you easier access to his hair.

As you were in the middle of braiding his hair, Ayaka walked into the teahouse and quickly approached the room you two were seated in. Her sudden appearance made you both jump.

“Thoma? [name]? Where- oh! My apologies for not making my presence known!”

You both assured her that it was okay and continued what you were doing before she had arrived.

“Milady(Ayaka)? What is it that you are doing here?”, Thoma asked as Ayaka quickly sat down at the table in the room.

“Right! I just wanted to spend some time away from the house (I forgot what the place she lives at is called lmao) and decided to look for you two! Don’t mind me, it’s just nicer to be able to take a breather here.” she said, letting out a gentle laugh.

As the three of you conversed for awhile, you finally cheering at your finished product. Ayaka chimed in, complementing that you did a really good job.

“I’m so gonna wear this for as long as I can. I love it!” Thoma cheered

He quickly pulled you into an embrace and gave you a peck on the cheek, before running out of the teahouse.

He left you and Ayaka there, so you two decided to have a normal hot pot for dinner (bestie vibes, gotta love em)

Baizhu

“Hm… I don’t see why not. Though I must ask, is this why Qiqi disappeared for some time, dear?” he asked, peering at the little girl who was holding a ton of Violetgrass and Qingxins.

“Perhaps… but we did go get some coconut milk, so she was more then happy to help!”

He laughed a bit at your sentence, before taking a seat to allow you both easier access to his hair.

“[name], Qiqi wants more cocogoat milk.”, she stated, making full eye contact with you.

“How about we finish Baizhu’s hair first and then we get some more cocogoat milk, okay?”, you asked to which the young girl quickly nodded her head.

You quickly helped Qiqi on a stool and you both quickly began decorating his hair with flowers and some spare clips you found.

After you both finished with your masterpiece, he thanked you both and wore it for the rest of the work day.

And you left to take Qiqi on another coconut milk run cause she wants her coconut milk ヾ(≧O≦)〃

(You definitely had to help him take them all out when you both got home lmfao)

Scaramouche

“What made you think that I’d say yes?” he scoffed.

Yeah that’s it. End of Scaramouche’s I guess.

I’m kidding! After he made it clear his answer was a no, he left the room.

After awhile, he did come back to see if you were still sitting there and of course… you were.

You didn’t have much to do that day so you sat there organizing the stuff you had.

You stumbled upon a clip that you immediately thought would suit Scaramouche, so you put it in a separate pile.

Yeah that did it for him. That was his last reason to let you. He bursts into the room you were in and speaks.

“Because you looked so sulky, I guess you can play with my hair. But just this once okay?!” He suddenly agreed to your question from awhile ago, which surprised you.

Happy and content that he agreed, you quickly got to work knowing he probably had some meeting to go to soon.

After putting on the final piece you cheered happily.

“You look so cute! Thank you for letting me do this Scara!” You thanked, quickly pulling him towards you for a peck on the cheek before you quickly ran out of the room.

He wanted to chase after you for that, but he was too taken aback by your kiss that he froze LMFAO.

He wore the stuff you put in his hair, for the whole day.

Hey to anyone reading!

And welcome to my fave lookbook I’ve done in a longggg ass time! Yes, that’s partially because it involved making collages and doing the low effort work of scouring Vogue Runway for “research purposes”, but I promise, that statement wasn’t made out of COMPLETE laziness-I am super happy with it too. It’s been a good use of pre-part-lockdown-lift time in the interim between that brief period of Christmas celebrations and eateries finally fucking opening again because let’s be honest, I always knew I was gonna get distracted by oat milk vanilla lattes and veggie all day breakfasts once I could actually sit down with them at my fave local cafe. You could say I was very much operating on a self-imposed deadline.

The “what I would wear to sit front row at...[insert designer here]” TikTok/Instagram reel trend was something I wanted to get on board with ever since I first saw one and whilst the option of doing my own live action take-I really cannot bear the thought of having to edit footage of myself awkwardly attempting to sit nonchalantly in front of a camera for hours on end-was off the cards considering my complete lack of screen presence, I decided a Tumblr text post would work just as well, and if not even better in a way. Given the absence of the time limitations you face when you’re making a reel or a TikTok I thought it’d be cool to present the looks as part of a mini moodboard for each designer which adds a bit of context to each look even if you aren’t familiar with their past collections and establishes the general vibe of the brand I’m attempting to replicate. Not to sound snotty or as if I am the font of all knowledge on anything high fashion related but even with my amateur knowledge I noticed that as the video trend took off and was adopted by big name influencers, it became less about the average person putting their own personal spin on the aesthetic of the labels we can’t ordinarily afford and more about them building outfits that only vaguely resemble the general public perception of the brand around the real corresponding (and often gifted and thus inaccessible to someone who doesn’t makes thousands for a sponsored post) pieces they own SO I thought I’d take the trend back to its roots and get a bit resourceful. All that being said, in no particular order, here are the outfits I would wear to sit front row at Gucci, Vera Wang, Miu-Miu, Marc Jacobs, Dolce & Gabbana, Brock Collection, Alexander McQueen, Etro, Burberry aaaand Saint Laurent based on their past collections and guess what? They didn’t cost a shit tonne of money :-)

-disclaimer: will include an asterisk before any new purchases if from a high street store though to be honest, I don’t think there are any, we shall see! I do include where I got old purchases from in case anyone wants to search anything on Depop/Ebay-

1. Saint Laurent (formerly Yves Saint Laurent)

I know technically abbreviating Saint Laurent to YSL doesn’t really make much sense anymore given the brand’s name change in 2012, but I’ll always think of it as that in the same way I’ll always associate it with the slightly dishevelled yet simultaneously glitzy rock n’ roll aesthetic. The thing is, whilst YSL hasn’t done anything wildly out of the box for a long time, it’s rare they put a look on the runway that I wouldn’t wear; they never end up being a fashion week standout but the Parisienne take on grunge we’ve seen Anthony Vaccarello establish as his go-to will always have a place in my heart.

2. Alexander McQueen

Alexander McQueen is a brand that is pretty much universally liked, from the historically extravagant and groundbreaking shows the man himself put together to Sarah Burton’s more toned down but still beautiful collections. Obviously I didn’t attempt to do justice to the former, so I tried my hand at putting together a look inspired by Sarah’s blend of delicate femininity and nomadic edge, and it went...okay? Like it’s definitely not my favourite of all the looks because it does give off slightly cheap copycat vibes buuut outside of the context of this lookbook it’s cute.

3. Brock Collection

Brock isn’t as well known a brand as most of the others in this list but I adore everything Laura Vassar Brock does and I couldn’t pass up an opportunity to try and channel the vision of one of the OG pioneers of the cottagecore vibe through my own wardrobe. I mean fr, this woman’s work as a steady provider of meadow photoshoot worthy dresses and corsets and skirts is v slept on and I will not stand for it. I will sit in front of a camera and then write a paragraph in my blog post begging anybody who reads to give LVB (an abbreviation I acknowledge is unlikely to catch on because Lisa Vanderpump anybody?) some form of acknowledgement for her services to period romance novel inspired moodboards everywhere.

4. Marc Jacobs

If there’s one thing Marc Jacobs always does, it’s COMMITS. TO. HIS. THEME. I just KNOW he has a secret Pinterest with separate boards for every fashion era of the 20th century and he is putting those boards to good use providing us with collections that are as immersive as they are eclectic year in year out.

5. Miu Miu

We all like to talk about Bratz dolls and Monster High dolls and Barbies as fashion inspo but can we all focus on Cabbage Patch dolls for two secs so as to acknowledge the fact that a Miu Miu collection is basically all their fits grown up? And made boujie as fuck? If I want my fix of Wes Anderson meets Scream Queens (what a combo) inspired outfits, if I want prissy and girlish but also glam, if I want to look like a bratty rich girl whose one redeeming quality is her eye for vintage clothes, I know where to look and that is the Miu Miu section of Vogue Runway.

6. Vera Wang

Vera Wang’s RTW aesthetic, a blend of the ethereal, ultra-feminine bridal designs she’s known for and British style punk rock influences, is something I feel has only become firmly established in recent years but it is everything I ever wanted and more. I always find myself trying to balance the part of me that loves everything girly and delicate and pretty and the part of me that would love to be in a biker gang and Vera’s collections are always an inspirational reminder of just how well it can be done.

7. Burberry

Now I’m not gonna lie, I’m not the biggest fan of Burberry but there have been a few looks over the past few years I’ve really liked and as someone who owns numerous trench coats, high necks and way too much plaid, I thought it’d be an easy one to replicate. Plus, if you can count on Riccardo Tisci for nothing else you at least can rely on him giving you some layering inspo which is very much needed in a country where it literally just snowed in April and where my plans for today have just been cancelled because the iPhone weather app did a Karen Smith and didn’t predict rain for today right up until it started raining so thanks for that one British meteorologists. Your incompetence strikes again.

8. Etro

Like with Brock Collection, Etro isn’t a hugely well known brand, but it is always one of my favourites-to add a spanner into the works of any attempts to cultivate a firm sense of personal style, I live for the ornate Bohemian look that Etro does so well just as much as I love both grungy and girly pieces, and so I really wanted to include a brand whose collections go down that route. It was a toss-up between this and Zimmerman, the flirtier, free spirit counterpart to the dark romance of Veronica Etro’s designs; her vision really shines through the most when it comes to the brand’s winter collections, imo, and given that I live in a country where winter or some weather state resembling it does seem to take up 70% of the year, I did decide on channelling her work rather than that of the equally talented Nicky and Simone Zimmermann this time round.

9. Dolce & Gabbana

D&G is a brand I felt really conflicted about doing-I don’t include their current collections in my fashion week reviews based on the actions of designers Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce over the last few years because I don’t want to mitigate the collective effort of fashion critics to push them towards irrelevancy. Though people like to claim the brand has turned a corner since Lucio Di Rosa was brought on board as the manager of celebrity and VIP relations last year (they are as prolific a force on red carpet fashion as ever), we haven’t seen any real meaningful apologies or reparations made by Dolce and Gabbana themselves which once again leaves us in the all too familiar quandary of whether or not we can separate the art from the artist especially when it is far too much of a simplification to only credit the two men for their work given there’s a whole design team behind them. There are a LOT of shitty people working in fashion, the whole industry is a bit of a cesspit if we’re honest, but I don’t think that should stop us from at least being able to appreciate old collections if we make sure we aren’t engaging in any kind of promotion of current works whilst doing so. D&G are a brand of high highs and low lows, with looks that range from hideously ugly to showstoppingly beautiful in a single show-when the looks are good, they are GOOD-and their presence in the fashion world is most definitely felt whether we want it to be or not. It would just be shit to refuse to recognise the existence of some real iconic runway moments, the practical work that went into the ornate detail and opulence that helped cement D&Gs place in sartorial history, the styling that’s made goddesses and fairytale queens out of modern day women as they’ve glided down catwalks, the far more extravagant and, let’s be real, sexier version of our world D&G shows have transported us to in the past. Will I talk about D&G ever again? No, and if you Google the scandals their brand has faced over the past few years, there are more than enough reasons why, but just this once I did want to pay homage to some of the collections, the snippets of which I saw on my Tumblr dashboard back when I was about 13, that first got me into fashion.

10. Gucci

Now last but, if you ever read any of my fashion week reviews (the likelihood of someone actually having read one of them and reading this is incredibly, incredibly slim lol, I wouldn’t read me either) you’ll know, definitely not least, is Gucci because Alessandro Michele comes through every!! single!! time!!

The man is truly the king of quirky throwback maximalism and it hurts my heart that a lot of people seem to think of it only as a brand associated with ostentatious displays of wealth. Year after year since Michele was made creative director he has released purposeful, fully-fleshed out collections which unravel themselves to us on the runway like time capsules containing the belongings of the rich and whimsical and yes that can sometimes result in outfits which are *ahem* a bit mismatched but it doesn’t matter because through fashion he manages to take us to a vivid version of the past where people could dress as freely and lavishly as they wanted to, into the wardrobe of a person unaffected by the side-eyeing of others. You get the impression he doesn’t design so much as plays around with some kind of enchanted dress up box and takes inspiration from there and to give that impression is only a credit to his talent-to make outfits so kooky and extravagant look like they were meant to be takes a boldness and genuine love for clothes that I do tend to feel a lot of the big name designers have lost in the pursuit of profit and the necessary placating of the dying customer base that keeps that coming in. Of course I'm not for a second saying Gucci does not care about profit, but at the very least, they have on board a creative director who genuinely has fun with what they’re putting out there and wants to make a statement too and that really shows; you can rest on your laurels and sell tweed boucle jackets to rich old white women for eternity but nobody’s going to mention your brand name and the word groundbreaking in the same sentence ever again unless they’re talking about what it was a century ago, you know (mentioning no names...unless...did I hear someone say Chanel)? That feels like such a shady way to end, lol, but I’m sure said brand will survive-to be fair, they’ve been included in every other What I’d Wear to Sit Front Row At video I’ve seen so although I’m always slagging them off for doing the saaaaame thinggggg year after year, for that same reason their aesthetic is instantly recognisable and so will always be a source of imitation. There are obviously pros and cons to being a brand which constantly reinvents itself but I think it’s totally possible to do that whilst maintaining an overall mission, and Alessandro Michele’s work at Gucci demonstrates that with ease.

WIIGZ on Embracing Confidence, TikTok, and Their Close Friendship [Q&A]

Emerging from the city of Brisbane, Australia, electrifying duo WIIGZ are the embodiment of female empowerment, sporting self-induced confidence and boundless charisma. Comprised of bassist Zoe Hilditch and vocalist Hannah Brydon, the pair blend disco-pop, funk, and a touch of soul into their intoxicating basslines and peerless bravado.

The two not only create tracks reminiscent of Dua Lipa, Daft Punk, and Confidence Man, but also self-direct, produce, and edit all the visuals that accompany their releases. An expansive project spearheaded into a fulfilling audio-visual production, WIIGZ are a powerful pair armed with flair and finesse.

An instant connection unfolding in 2018, WIIGZ is still within their relative infancy, only starting the group in 2020. Their 2021 single “Red Hot Pants” flaunts smooth, sassy, and sensual vocals accompanied by a mellow sonic backdrop, urging you to let your hair down and feel the groove of the basslines.

Finding viral success on TikTok for their fashion and attitude, WIIGZ are capturing audiences through their striking visuals and aura. While fame on TikTok is driven by their current style inspo clips, the pair hope to gain recognition through their music — a goal that seems well on its way to fruition.

Through an exclusive interview with the girls, we got a look into the Brisbane music scene, the origin of the name WIIGZ, as well as their ambitions for 2022. It’s looking bright for the girls as they prepare to tour with fellow Australian indie pop duo Client Liaison.

Ones To Watch: Finally great to meet you both! Tell me about yourself

Zoe: I’m Zoe, I’m one half of WIIGZ. I play bass and help with co-producing. WIIGZ is a joint project across the board with music, visuals, and just everything.

Hannah: I’m Hannah, I’m the vocalist and the co-collaborator in the music making. I do more of the still images and edit those, while Zoe does more of the moving images.

Love the name WIIGZ by the way. Where’d the name come from?

Zoe: It was in 2018, when Hannah was staying over for a month. I feel like that’s when our friendship really took off. We even shared a sickness ha ha! One night, we were being silly and getting a bit drunk, and I look over and these two glowing plastic wigs were just beaming from under my bed. We put them on and just knew that was the name.

You both seem super close, how did you two meet?

Hannah: We met in film school!

Zoe: Within the first week of film school in 2018, so we’ve known each other for four years. We met then, and it was instant connection. Though, we didn’t start WIIGZ properly until end of 2020, but we’ve always known we wanted to do it.

What’s the music scene like in Brisbane? Do you think you fit nicely into the scene there?

Hannah: I feel like there’s a huge jazzy undertone to a lot of the music made in Brisbane. There’s definitely a lot of soul too. We’re much more on the pop outskirts. There’s three of us that make our music; so myself, Zoe and James, our producer. We all have very different musical tastes.

Zoe: Yeah! I’d definitely say there’s a wide variety of genres across Brisbane. We’re all influenced by each other, we’re all pretty tight knit, there’s no separation but more so a friendly environment.

How do you keep the chemistry flowing between you two?

Zoe: It’s always fun between us, performing is super fun too. We’ve only been a group for about a year but even now it’s super different. The energy and having fun are so important to us.

Moving onto your music, how would you describe it?

Hannah: High-energy, sassy, groovy songs with a sick bassline, and a bit of a higher beat. It’s really fun to play live. We like to make our lyrics sassier and even a bit cheeky, usually influenced by the things around us.

Zoe: It’s always evolving, but we definitely have a sound though. One way to describe it would be that our different interest in genres come together. I generally like soul and funk, while Hannah is more camp, club hit songs – one’s that have really catchy phrases.

You guys have been killing it on TikTok. What made you want to start posting?

Zoe: We started by doing dance videos, like how everyone does ha ha! Embodying that confident and free vibe, we’d just pull out these weird moves out of nowhere and post it. I guess we just started because we knew it was a great platform, but it definitely evolved into “Hot Girl Sh*t.” It’s fun but we’d love to have our account lean more towards our music. There’s nothing wrong with having a balance, just embracing what we’ve got.

Hannah: Yeah, it’s super fun and empowering but it’s not really our focus and direction right now. Maybe that’s the goal for 2022 – know what we want and go for it!

Speaking of 2022, are you looking forward to anything?

Hannah: We’re just really focusing on our music and are about to go on tour with Client Liaison!

Anything else you want to tell us?

Zoe: Your eardrums have got to get ready!

Hannah: We’re really excited to connect with more people and make some funky, silly, sexy, and hot pop songs!
