i have actually answered this previously in these Relationship HCs ! and this is also the case in my red dragonflies AU, former gang leader reader is actually Izzy's s/o when he was the black dragon leader - have linked the masterlist up top cough

but because I like to rant, here are some more thoughts about yan black dragon-era Izzy and you, which can apply to both regular reader and gang leader reader!

Izana was probably already very unstable and jealous during his time as the 8th Gen Black Dragon leader, what with the entire situation between Shinichiro constantly talking about Mikey, and learning that the Black Dragon gang would go to said boy instead of him. Combined that with him having found you as an s/o, someone that Izana would see as his, something that he could finally own and keep to himself without having to share (unlike the whole situation with Shinichiro), no doubt that it wouldn't take long for Izana to swing into yandere tendencies, becoming extremely overbearing and overprotective over you.

With you around, there is a very clear difference in Izana's mannerisms and general behavior. Almost a personality flip in fact, it's night and day how he acts in your presence and when you aren't present. After all, there's a certain way that Izana wants you to perceive him as, and then there's everything else - so this white-haired boy would be sure to carefully tailor and adjust how he acts around you to what he knows you like (to a certain degree of course). As long as you don't threaten the status quo, as long as you keep by his side and his side only, your precious Izzy is whoever you want him to be. Loving, kind, doting, he can almost seem to read your mind and predict your moods.

Knows how to make you feel better after a shitty day, knows what to say and what to do to get you falling heads over heels for him over and over. But don't let that fool you into thinking that you were beyond his manipulation, because nope, not a chance. If he even has the slightest doubt that you were drifting away from him, or worse, thinking of leaving him, expect for Izzy to start subtly tearing you down. He wouldn't sound any different from what he usually does, cooing, low, soft murmur, but the things that slip from his mouth; it pokes at your insecurities, stirs the doubts you have about yourself. Yes, you were the most beautiful person he had laid eyes on, but did you think that really extended to everyone? Surely, surely you know that only he can love you like this? You couldn't possibly survive away from his side the way you are, right?

In his mind, Izzy is only doing it because he loved you as much as he did - you were made for him, like he was made for you. He couldn't live without you, so even if he had to hurt you a little, it'll all be worth it. You'll see that it was all for you.

Wouldn't be uncommon to see him roaring down streets, both city and mountain ones alike, on his motorbike with you clung to his back and with no specific destination in mind - just likes to spend time with you, brings you anywhere that you want to go. Besides, the delinquents in the city, be they Black Dragons or rival scum, know better than to stare at the two of you. Loves light, airy places, so be prepared to spend a lot of time just hanging out together on rooftops and mountains, somewhere where you can feel the breeze through your hair, where Izzy can get you all to himself. All your attention being on him is the best kind of date.

There's no such thing as privacy, period. He absolutely needs to know everything that happens in your life, and anything less would earn you a full tantrum and fit. Put simply, its either Izana is there, hovering next to you and keeping one violet eye on all your ongoings, and no doubt this baby boy has someone (cough Inupi cough) tagging you from a respectable distance when he isn't free. That is, on top of having unfettered access to everything on your phone; call logs, messages, photos. Nothing is secret from him, why would it be? What do you have to hide from your partner?

You don't go anywhere new without Izzy. Why do you have to? What were you hiding? Your future husband would be happy to take you anywhere you have to go: cafe, the new department store downtown, even festivals. So unless you were trying to hide something from him, why wouldn't you want him to go along? Don't you know how dangerous it is out there? What if you get jumped by a rival gang? Needless to say, keeping presents a secret from this boy isn't a walk in a park.

Everything else that Izana doesn't think you would approve of seeing would be done out of your sight. He doesn't like having you see the darker side of your boyfriend, the one that deals with weapons and drugs, the one that beats people, both civilians and his own gang members alike for the mildest of perceived infringements against you. You were too soft, too delicate for that. What if you got scared off? What would he do if you became frightened of him?

Instead, all his rage, all his hatred, he poured into the Black Dragon gang, leading them down darker and darker paths. The entire world was scum as far as he was concerned, trash that he had to beat and flatten into perfection so you didn't have to foul your hands and feet.

Sure Izana couldn't keep Shinichiro to himself as much as he desperately wanted to, the first time he truly found family - the source of a lot of his anger and jealousy. He hated Mikey, and always will, for stealing his older brother. But you were perfection, divinity, and you filled the hole in his heart; you didn't have to see that side of him if you just stuck by his side and returned his love. You were the only thing giving stability to a very fragile Izzy, and god only knows what would happen to him if that stability ever left. Izana would give you the sun and the moon if you wanted them both, all he asked for in return was your loyalty.

"mikey!" you yelled, running up to him only for draken to stop you and hold you back from running into the line of fire of the gun izana was now holding at your boyfriend

everything happened so fast after that, all you remembered was kisaki shooting kakucho and izana and soon enough, you

you don't even know how it happened, but when you came back to your senses, you were on the ground with mikey and draken looking down at you and yelling

soon enough, your eyes ended up closing and takemichi started to freak out "mikey! they're eyes are closed! what do i do?! mikey!" before he pulled you closer to him and tried to open your eyes before suddenly going eerily quiet

"takemichi? what's wrong?" mikey questioned, glancing back for a split second before back at the road "y/n isn't waking up. m-mikey they won't open their eyes" takemichi started to cry making mikey make a harsh left turn and stopping immediately

"y/n?" mikey got up and looked at you in takemichi's arms, "y/n, baby. baby, please open your eyes," he gently takes you from takemichi and opens your eyelids with his fingers only to see no response in them "y/n?"

after a few seconds of looking at you not move, both boys realized you were gone, and both felt equally as guilty. mikey for causing all of this and takemichi for not being able to save you or stop you from showing up

the funeral was only your family and the highest ranked toman members, including takemichi who could tell there was something wrong with mikey now, he had changed before, but he knew this was the final straw

after you died, mikey disbanded toman and disappeared for a while before coming back to tear apart his once friends, and he succumbed fully into the darkness that was waiting for him, after losing so many, and you, he couldn't do it anymore

mikey ended up creating bonten, and soon enough was one of the most popular gangs in japan for their time, and he was worse than ever, killing anyone who betrayed him or disagreed with his actions with no hesitation

mikey ended up dying because of his actions, getting killed in a gang fight but only because he couldn't keep on living anymore, not without you in his life

Sano Shinichiro:

shinichiro loved you so dearly, and so much that he gave up his gang life just so you wouldn't get involved or possibly killed because of him, he would even kill for you if you asked

he thought you would never leave him because he showed so much love for you, which was why he was utterly heartbroken when he found you on the bathroom floor with blood pooled around you

shinichiro had seen his fair share of extreme beatings and occasionally death with his time in the black dragons, but never in a million years did he think he would lose you to yourself, not him, or anyone else, but your own doings

had he not shown enough love? did he not notice something was wrong with you all this time? how could he be so stupid to let this happen? there were so many thoughts running through his head that the male immediately started crying when he saw your lifeless body

sobs were wracking through shinichiro as he slid on the ground, his blue jeans getting splotches of red on them from the blood on the white tile in the bathroom as he pulled you into his lap "y/n? y/n look at me. please, look at me, please"

a young mikey heard shinichiro crying and peeked through the doorway, his eyes widening when he saw the two of you "sh-shinichiro?"

by the time the paramedics and police showed up, you were already long gone, and shinichiro knew it, he had done cpr for as long as he could, but there was nothing more he was able to do and he regretted everything

for being dense enough to not realize you were feeling like this, for not being a good enough boyfriend to ask how you were feeling, for everything possible he had done wrong to cause this

at first the police questioned shinichiro of killing you but when him, and mikey and emma said that you had done it to yourself, the police ruled it as a suicide and left it at that

shinichiro went to your family and gave them the news, handing them a letter you had written for them before doing it and much to his surprise, they didn't blame him, in fact, no one did, no one except himself

the funeral was strictly your family and the sano family along with wakasa and benki having known you as well from when shinichiro was in the black dragons with them

shinichiro fell into a depressive state after you died, not even working on bikes to try and distract himself, he would just sit on his bed, staring at the empty spot you used to lay in beside him and cry more and more each day

he could barely wrap his head around it all, he thought leaving the black dragons would make everything better for the two of you and his siblings, but even though he did, it changed nothing, all that changed is who it was that had done it

it wasn't until one night that shinichiro was working on one of the bikes that two kids, baji and kazutora ended up breaking into the place and accidentally killing him without realizing he was mikey's older brother

but shinichiro wasn't afraid of death, not after you died, he figured it was just his time to go, to return back to you and be happy again, not filled with dread and sadness for the rest of his life

to him, he was okay with dying, because it meant shinichiro could see you again, and that's all he wanted more than anything, was to be able to see you one last time

Kurokawa Izana:

you were the only one izana loved, genuinely loved, more than anything else in the world and no one was going to change that, not on his watch

but of course, not all things go according to plan when he was such a popular gang leader for tenjiku, it was only bound to happen that you would get hit in the crossfire of the gang wars

A/n: I often see writers write like this headcanon-oneshot hybrid style (more os than hc), so I figured I'd give it a try with this thought that has been plaguing my mind. RIndou looked at me, "No matter how many times any of us ask, that's our answer."

"Because it's true..." Izana answered, his voice hardly audible.

"Want me to take you home, 'Zana?"

There was little protest on Izana's end, even as Kakucho carried him to the car. The reason was probably that he was barely conscious. Ran and Rindou exchanged worried looks.

"I can come by later," Kakucho said after closing the passenger's side door, "Help you out a bit."

I nodded, "That would help both of us."

I said my goodbyes to everyone before getting in the driver's seat and setting off for home. It was clear Izana was trying to stay conscious, struggling to keep his eyes open.

"Izana?"

He turned, "Hm...?"

"Now that we're alone, are you gonna tell me how you're feeling?"

"Think you can walk in?" I asked as I parked the car in the parking lot.

I forgave Izana's rudeness; he was always rude, ill or otherwise. He stepped out of the car and clung to the outside for dear life as he took small, shaky steps.

"Nuh-uh, we're not doing this," I came beside him, "Put your arms around my neck."

"I said I got it!" Izana hissed before tripping over his feet.

"Shut up," Izana put his arms around my neck and allowed me to carry him up to his apartment.

I set him down gently on the couch, fetching him several extra pillows, blankets, ice packs, and anything else Izana wished for. I felt bad for him; he clearly felt like shit, and he had been through enough already.

"Don't leave..." Izana muttered sleepily, "Stay here..."

I clutched his clammy hand, "Just relax and go to sleep, I'm not gonna leave."

He was out like a candle during a windstorm, sleeping relatively peacefully. I kept my word, sitting beside him clutching his hand whilst he slept. More color returned to his face, yet he still looked awful.

There was a knock at the door.

I let go of Izana's hand and opened the door for Kakucho. He looked over the room quickly before setting a bag of stuff down.

"I wasn't sure what he needed, so I just got everything." Kakucho muttered, motioning to the bag, "There's more in Koko's car if you could help me get that."

"You're such a great friend, Kaku." I followed him downstairs to Koko's car, which I am sure he did not steal.

"How's Izana doing?"

I tucked my hands in my pockets, "I managed to get him to sleep."
