Hihiii

My name's Xoey and I'm a huge Kamen Rider fan! Just looking for more people to talk about Kamen Rider to, especially Ex-Aid. Ex-Aid is my favorite one, but probably because I work in the medical field and love video games, haha! That or I just really, really adore Parado, bless his little bugster heart.

Also I'm not good at introductory posts so if anyone read this, thanks! I don't use Tumblr much so sorry if I don't do things properly or respond much.

Umm outside of that, I'm also an artist though recently I haven't had much drive (I have recently drawn fanart for Ex-Aid and Zero One, though). I work in a hospital laboratory as a Medical Laboratory Scientist. I also write a lot of fanfics, you'll find me on AO3 as EtrnlVoid (be warned!! I write whumps mostly, sorrynotsorry, but I do take requests!)

I'm currently 26 years old and I love writing and I'm still new to the Toku Fandom even though I've seen all of Reiwa and Heisei Era KR at this point and every Super Sentai after Gokaiger. My problem is I've never actually interacted with other fans outside of my friends who got me into it early last year, but a lot of them suggested I come to Tumblr since I asked them about role-playing and servers and fanfics LOL. So here I be!

I think I covered all my bases?

Anyway! Here's my collection thus far of my Ex-Aid stuff (Its better organized now, these pics were from a few weeks ago), excluding some other things (Like the Game Scope I have) ! I do have some things from Geats and Decade. I've also got some things from other Tokusatsu, such as some Super Sentai things from LupPat and Gokaigers. Oh! I also do cosplay, so I'll be cosplaying Emu Hojo at a few cons soon, with my friend who's going as Decade (I'd post my Emu cosplay but right now it's at the tailor getting adjusted; the CR doctor's coat and the shirts).

tfw i started writing fanfiction but its a longfic and the first chapter is rn over 13k and its still not done and this first chapter is only part 1 out of 10 of the whole dang fic so im looking at potentially looking at a 100k fanfic in the fucking works but then i got distracted when i was like 95% done with said chapter 1 and started writing YET ANOTHER fic which will also be VERY FUCKING LONG and will need extensive planning bc its a fucking fantasy au and i decided to make the overarching plot a fucking conspiracy and this is all for a single scene i desperate want to post bc i already roughly drafted 2k of in this 2.8k planning doc.

tfw the second fic ive ever written is the most ambitious project i ever conceived of bc its a timeloop murder mystery case fic so it needed to be tightly plotted/outlined before i could even start so i could pace things right and not get writers blocked midway and so that outline/notes doc is actually at 8.5k words bc i planned it in that much detail BUT SOMEHOW i ended up planning an EVEN MORE AMBITIOUS project

i finished chainsaw man last night! incredible manga, worthy of the comparison with dorohedoro but clearly its own thing. i came in expecting action and it certainly delivered there, but it actually pulled off some really strong thematic and emotional impacts about like, emotional control and relationships between really traumatised people, and it incorporated geopolitical elements much better than I'm used to in shounen. I'm not sure the ending quite carried through the brilliance of the big reveals but taken as a whole I'm really won around.

the art is fantastic, a really good degree of expressive simplicity that works well for its humour, with enough precision to distinguish a lot of quite similar character designs. the devils are especially creative kind of grimdark toku villains. but of course it really comes into its own with the action scenes, which have such a strong ability to create strong poses and convey a sense of movement and impact. it's the cheery, matter of fact attitude to violence and gore of dorohedoro with a great sense of staging and motion that reminds me of modern post-kanada school yutapon-inspired fight sakuga (...which most people these days just call 'sakuga' but I'm pedantic lol)

the author mentions dorohedoro and jujutsu kaisen (calling his manga a knockoff in a kind of self deprecating joke promoting the anime since mappa adapted the other two as well), and i can definitely see elements of both (even not having read the jjk manga), but i would also be inclined to include gantz in its lineage - though it feels like a more sardonic, astute take on those 'what do in the face of nihilism' themes which is much better at writing women lmao. but a lot of how they are fascinated by dismemberment (same >>) and the way they compose an action scene, as well as the love triangle shenanigans early on, seem pretty similar.

anyway, great manga, i thought it would be a good time going in but it got way more feelsy than i expected, very whump stuff lol. i hope mappa doesn't kill anyone in the process of making the adaptation!

(and before i go making too many comparisons w my own stuff, since this is pretty close to the kind of comic or animation i might want to make albeit rather more hetero, the mangaka fujimoto tatsuki was in the industry for almost a good decade before this one, so i will try not to be too hard on myself for not being able to draw this good yet ><)

Number Five: Shoutaro is kidnapped and tortured

Kamen Rider W ep 16 - in this episode, Shoutaro has his injured arm stood on and Philip is forced to listen to his pained screaming. Throughout the episode, Shoutaro is held captive and is also suspended from the ceiling with rope dangling over a set of spikes ready to kill him should he fall. Philip also has his fair share of whump in this episode.
