I know this is just a silly bad quality random screencap of a screencap that I found on facebook lol, BUT it's a succinct enough image to easily describe the concept in a quick/accessible way hopefully :

#tumblr polls #hrmm... a little poll perhaps.. about a subject I find interesting.. since this image came across my facebook today #still really not feeling that well. no longer shaking violently and such but I still feel weird and weak much more than usual #They did say my markers for like infection or inflammation were elevated but that they werent sure of the cause so hopefully #it's nothing too serious. they did also say a lot of different things can cause that thing to be higher than normal but didn't go into spec #fics of what. maybe some of them are relatively benign or something. I still havent felt much back to normal since #I got really sick that one time though. I feel fine on and off but then little bouts of feeling weird and sick happen. hrmmm #ANYWAY.. looking for small ways to be productive. such as little doodles on evil ipad or editing game videos #or posting polls or cat pictures or some other like not very labor intensive things #I WISH I COULD FOCUS on writing HHRGGhh... I need to finish my game.. it would be so freeing.. a project that's been looming #over my head for like 5 years even though througouht that 5yrs I've probably spent a total of 3 months working on it lo.. ANYWAY #I still partially really cannot beleive that people CAN see stuff in their heads. There's always part of me that's thinking like. well mayb #e everyone DOES see the same exact thing but we just describe/conceptualize it so differently that we think we're talking about #different things when we're really not. But I have been assured by people I've talked to about it that they can GENUINELY really see #stuff in their heads like as vivid as an actual picture in real life or something. And the other senses are neat too. Like for exmaple I #can hear in my head much better than I can see imagery. I still CANNOT hear vividly like as if I were listening to actual music out loud..#but I think it's developed more than my sight. AND interesting how this varies the creative process. a friend I was talking to on the phone #said they write by literally just watching stuff play before them like a movie. where my process is COMPLETELY different. AND that affects #the content/what details we focus on as well as our individual styles of writing have differences that can be traced back to that.. hrmm

I feel fine about it!! (a lie)

If Sasha had left Hawk and Moth with Thunderclan or Shadowclan do you think Tigerstar would have been able to sink his claws that deeply into Hawk?

In ShadowClan, perhaps. Blackstar starts doing his damnest to stamp support for Tigerstar and his ideas out, but Ratscar is a clever cat. A clever, charming one. I can see him easily leveraging his charm to earn Hawkfrost as an apprentice, or the other Thistle Law supporters coalescing around their "young heir."

There would be less chance of Tigerstar getting his claws deep into his boy than RiverClan, which actively has NO reckoning and is deeply politically divided.

Meanwhile, it would be extremely unlikely in ThunderClan. ThunderClan as a whole HATES Tigerstar. Being part of his legacy is NOT something Hawkfrost would have been raised with-- and I can honestly see Sasha, if she realized ThunderClan was a good place to go, ALSO developing a pretty significant bond with Goldenflower.

...Thinking about it, it really would have been the Good Ending for Sasha here. Goldenflower would have learned about everything and felt a deep need to protect Sasha. Tigerclaw took EVERYTHING from her, and she immediately moved to reject him, but he still managed to convince her daughter to leave her side. TOOK Tawnypaw from her, and KILLED their oldest son Swiftpaw.

Learning that Tigerclaw went on to use Sasha would make Golfy sick. She doesn't have to think through it logically to know, deep in her gut, that what Tigerclaw liked about Sasha was that he could control this one. That Sasha was her replacement, to birth him kits he could own. Stealing her own child wasn't enough-- he wanted ones he could instill loyalty in from the very beginning.

There's a precious memory in her mind, of when their daughter Lynxkit caught greencough. Everyone knew she wasn't going to survive. Tigerclaw took his little kit, so small he could cradle her in his paws, and he hummed her to sleep for the last time. EVERY moon, she learns something that cracks that memory a little deeper, a little further, and one day she feels that she will loose one of the most meaningful images she has of her lost child.

How can she reconcile that image, to the trembling, half-starved woman who stands before her? This thin-boned rogue, who believes she is selfish and stupid for the egregious sin of losing a child while desperately trying to raise them alone?

Hawkkit and Mothkit would have had a very different upbringing. I also don't know if Sasha would have vanished back into the wilderness. World hard and cold. Golfy soft and warm.

I’ve come across some posts stating that Kotoko having a normal upbringing and no trauma would make more sense with the whole “being able to see yourself in the characters” and that “anyone can be/ turn out this way” unlike if she had an unhealthy upbringing and a traumatic past but, bear with me-

This post is not about her ideals in any way, as those can form in someone that suffered injustice themselves, watched injustice happen in front of them or simply watches the news.

What I want to say is that, when it comes to looking at someone - or a character for that matter - and being able to think “that could be me/I could turn out like this” comes with specific circumstances. After all, which makes you feel like it could be you, a character that didn’t go through any hardship or trauma going after their goal or a character that went through trauma and hardship? Doesn’t the latter give a feeling of “if they can end up like that then maybe I can too” even if you never went through anything yourself?

The “normal” character already had a head start - not having mental or physical problems blocking their way - While some “normal” people could still be able to view the character as someone they could turn out to be, others couldn’t and specifically people that went through trauma and bad upbringings. They would be put apart, the thought it gives is simply “of course, they didn’t have to go through xxxx, I could never turn out like this” and that breaks the whole purpose of this type of character no?

However, a character that does have a complicated past that left scars - either mentally or physically or even both - still choosing to chase after their goal instead of giving up does give a feeling of it being possible to become like them no matter what your upbringing was, not setting anyone apart and truly being what this type of character is supposed to be!

Of course this is merely my opinion on the subject, I’m not the voice of reason after all!

I also want to note that I’m not trying to say that kotoko’s behaviour/ mentality and ideals are a good thing to have as they are both harmful to others but also much more harmful to herself

I was thinking about built in cameras for the Mechs and here’s what I came up with:

I think there’s only three Mechs that it makes sense to consider (not including Aurora because she is a ship); Brian, Ivy, and Tim.

Brian has mechanical eyes, which could function similarly to a camera, and he has a mechanical brain, so his brain can store the photos, like modern cameras and computers do.

Ivy has organic eyes and a mechanical brain. At first I thought this might pose an issue, but she already has functional interfacing between her eyes and brain that allow her to see in the first place, so I don’t think there would be one. She could take pictures and store them (she has plenty of memory!), her eyes are just like yours and mine, so she would be more limited in the quality of her photos. Although I think this means that if she has floaters or visual snow or the like, those would appear in her photos (when she’s experiencing them). If that were the case, she could take photos of hallucinations, which would be interesting. Also be way easier to tell if she needs glasses. And she wouldn’t have the issue you get when taking a photo at 1x zoom from your perspective, but it looks zoomed out a bit.

Tim has mechanical eyes and an organic brain, which does pose an issue. He also obviously has functional interfacing between the two, but he doesn’t have the storage like Ivy and Brian. His eyes could well function like cameras, and there’s no reason he shouldn’t be able to just take a photo by thought, since his brain already controls his eyes. So I propose that Tim has a slot for a memory card, to store his photos. But I don’t think he can look back at the photos without removing the card and looking through them on a computer, since his brain, while technically a computer, is made of meat and does not function like a mechanical computer. So it’s like taking photos with film; well except he can look at them on the computer, but the point is that in the moment he can’t look back and see if the photo is good or if he needs to try again.

Tl;dr: Brian could function like fancy a modern digital camera, Ivy like a digital camera with limited zoom and focus, and Tim like a fancy (as in has great zoom, focus, etc) film camera.

On a related note, I don’t like the idea of someone being able to take photos or video of me without my knowledge, especially blantently, right in front of me. Make each of them have a shutter noise and a small red light or something, just so others know.
