Just finished reading the first issue of Tim’s new solo and I’m enjoying it so far! Its not groundbreaking, but it’s pretty fun for what it is.

I think anyone who is looking for something similar to his rr run, or even 93 run, is going to be a bit disappointed. I know a lot of Tim fans are really desperate for him to get back to his preN52 writing and stories (I’m people), but I don’t think this book is going to be exactly that anytime soon. Going into it expecting those vibes isn’t going to spark joy etc etc.

But! For something a bit quick and lighthearted? Where we get to see some new stuff with Tim? Its not bad!

Positives:

-Bernard’s personality is back! He gets to be an absolute weirdo of a lad, good for him. I know people were worried that their relationship would be kind of glossed over, but it doesn’t look that way to me.

-We get to see Tim with a newer cast of supporting characters. One of my favorite parts of reading Tim stories is watching how he interacts with others. He’s both very awkward yet earnest, can’t help but to find it charming.

-I’ve seen some complaints about the pacing, but I think it works. It hit the points it needed to hit without being too rushed or wasting time.

-We get some info about what Tim has been doing during post rebirth canon. Little bits of info like how he has been living with Bruce, Damian, etc during this time. How some of those relationships are. I’m desperate for literally anything y’all.

Overall I’m not mad. Am I always going to pine for 90s and 00s Tim Drake? Yeah. But this looks like it has the potential to be a nice run! Imma enjoy it while I can!
