okay suggestions for best platform for remotely watching a show on hulu with someone? we’ve tried hyperbeam (it kinda hates hulu), we’ve tried hulu’s built-in watch party function (comically bad to the point of being unusable), so now I am looking for other options. (discord streaming has historically been laggy for us.)

ftr the show is MASH and I am also totally open to less-officially-sanctioned options for where to watch it if they play better on hyperbeam

..honestly? why doesn’t Van Helsing have Lucy change rooms?  like..that would be a reasonable test for any regular illness, and it really seems like Lucy needs to be able to open the window for Drac (based on how she acted with Mina in Whitby).  Could an interior room, or even a lock on the window, solve all our problems here??

The oven at the rental field house that I’m in (for just one more month) is the absolute most infuriating oven I have ever worked with. For whatever reason, it absolutely does not get up to temperature half of the time, and the other half of the time, it’ll maybe get up to temperature, and then randomly decide that it doesn’t feel like actually sustaining that temperature for the entire baking time. Baking basic chocolate-chip shouldn’t be difficult, but I think I had to add an extra 8 minutes to actually get them baked (and the original baking time was 8 minutes).

....so obviously, I have not one, not two, but three meals planned this week that require the oven and baking something for a set amount of time and where it needs to be baked to a certain point, not just to warm it through or whatever.

yesterday I went to a little meeting at my local queer community center and I was admiring their bookshelves and mentioned that I work at the public library and someone said "well I bet they don't have any [LGBTQ+ books] at our library" and I was like um. yes we do. we have tons of them. half of our employees are queer leftists so they said "oh well I bet they don't in [nearby rural county]" and I was like uh once again yes they absolutely do. gay people live and work there as well

so here's a quick reminder that if you don't think your local library has enough queer centered materials you should actually check before assuming, and if you're not satisfied with their collection you should submit a request for more such books. I don't know what the political landscape of libraries looks like outside the us rn, but within the us no matter where you are, I promise you there are employees at your library fighting for inclusion and intellectual freedom and they can't win without vocal public support

i think what pisses me off the most is that last year, nobody had trouble going against russia. companies dropped everything so they could keep russians off their sites, to block them from their news articles and to sanction in other ways. eurovision kicked it out. even steam, discord, any fucking western apps or websites have been so willing to perform in ‘activism’. musicians and celebrities speaking out and country-blocking their work, and so much more. but now what? where is all of that now for israel? where are all the brands leaving the country to ‘protest’? where is anything? what pisses me off the most is that none of them have actually really cared about ukraine, ever, and none of them care about palestine now.

a bunch of cops are surveying the inside of the wreckage of freddy's. there's dead bodies. they're taking pictures. chatting amongst themselves. whatever. one guy in a detective style trenchcoat is standing off to the side. his back is to the camera. one of the cops breaks away and approaches the detective guy.

the entire audience freezes in horror as they realize. they know that voice. the camera pans around to face the guy, and slowly. matpat removes the sunglasses he's wearing indoors.
