hii please don't feel pressured to answer this but you're like an ao3 genius to me lol do you know by any chance if there's a way to remove or change the "by" (as in: [fic title] *by* [author YY]) in fanfiction titles? i'd like to replace it with an emoji or just remove the author bit entirely but i cant figure out how to grab it in css :C

Hi! Okay so—I've fiddled a little bit, and it looks like you can hide author names like this:

.header.module > h4 > a[rel="author"] { display: none !important; }

(The ".header.module > h4 >" bit is just to make it so this only affects the links on fic blurbs, and doesn't hide names on comments)

Or if you only want to do it for specific authors, like this:

.header.module > h4 > a[rel="author"][href*="/users/Author/"] { display: none !important; }

though there will still be a stray "by" with nothing after it. Trying to get rid of that seems to be basically impossible without also hiding the title unfortunately, since they're both part of the same heading.

As for replacing it with an emoji, I'm not totally sure how to go about that aside from hiding the text and adding the emoji in a background image, kinda like this:

.header.module > h4 >a[rel="author"][href*="/users/Author/"] { background: url("https://emoji-picture.jpg") 50% 50%; background-size: cover; color: transparent; }

though fair warning that trying to get images to size correctly when the dimensions of the background being displayed varies wildly based on the length of the link can be a bit of a pain lol
