Your mom’s reaction was what could be expected from a mother hearing about her son doing drugs and…’ okay well I’m going to stop there, but you get the memo,” he says with a chuckle. “Anyways, let's get back to the concert!” he shouts, and the band starts to play the intro to the next song. As he starts up again, you find yourself drifting into the memory of playing Harry’s House for Anne the first time.

December 2021 “Oh Harry! Daydreaming was so good!” Anne says as the song finishes. “I agree!” Gemma says from her spot next to her mother. “But I think my favorite so far was Matilda. You’re so focused on not sliding off the couch, that you don’t notice Gemma pulling out her phone and starting to video you. “Life hacks going viral in the bathroom. After Love of My Life, Anne pipes up with final thoughts. “Harry, it was an amazing album. I was a little freaked out after "Keep Driving”, but it really was an amazing album.” “Thank you Mum. I appreciate it.” The two of them hug each other, and Gemma walks over and wraps her arms around you, and you do the same with her. “I know you didn’t write the album,” she whispers in your ear. “But you inspired it. Thank you for being the light in his life.” You squeeze her a bit tighter, before whispering a thank you and pulling away.

Jeff nudges you as you come back from the memory. “If you want to get back there before he takes the encore break we should probably head back now,” he says, and you nod, grabbing your water bottle and heading out of the box with him. As you head backstage, fans begin to notice you walking by, and you wave at some of them who are visibly taking pictures or videos of you. When you make it backstage after showing your passes to the security, you sit on the steps that lead off stage and shout something to Jeff. “You know? I will never get used to people loving me. I haven’t even done anything that’s worthy to give me fans, other than being Harry’s girlfriend.” Jeff crosses over to where you are sitting and squats down in front of you. “You give him something to sing about. You looked down at your hands and noticed Joe´s watch on his wrist. It was late. “I´m so sorry, but I think we have to leave now. I have to get up early tomorrow. You started your walk back to Leicester Square station.” When you arrived, you did not have any idea how to say goodbye to him. Before you could even decide, Joe went in for a tight hug. It felt really overwhelming but soft and gentle at the same time. Something you never wanted to miss again in your life. Once he let go of the hug, you felt like a big hole in your chest. “You want to meet again tomorrow?” “Yes, Joseph. I´d love to.” “Same time, same place?” “Yes.”, you widely smiled. “Bye Joe.” “Bye, y/n.” Your paths separated, you had to go to the platform connecting you to Edware, he left for Morden. There was a last intense stare into each other’s eyes, but you could not fight the fear of being rejected, so you did not kiss him. And then, he walked around the corner and you had to wait about twenty hours till you would see him again. The digital display showed that you had to wait 7 minutes for the next train to arrive. Suddenly you felt a hand on your shoulder, just like at the beginning of your evening. You turned around and Joe had already smashed his lips against yours. It was passionate, soft and way to short. Age gap: +8

Age gap is a pretty compelling trope for me, mainly due to the power dynamic differences and how those get addressed. In a dark fic, the power imbalance can make for good whump/angst if the writer really leans into. In a more romantic/fluff setting though, addressing the age gap and the power dynamics in a healthy manner is practically a requirement for me to enjoy the fic. In a pwp/smut setting, sometimes it's just hot to have an older person guiding a younger one.

Codependency: +3

Co-dependency can be a compelling trope for me, but I won't seek it out unless it's from an author I know and love, or it's recommended to me by someone who shares my tastes. If it's darkfic co-dependency though, sign me the fuck up, maximum whump and unhealthy dynamics let's gooooooooooooo.

Obsession/Possessiveness, jealousy: +10

Love this trope. Love it in dark fic when things get dicey between the two love interests and there's a power struggle, but I also love it when someone kills someone just because they hurt their lover, amazing trope. A++++++++

Opposites (grumpy/sunshine etc): +20

99% of all my favorite ships are some combination of this in canon and in fic. Give me all of it, all day, every day.

Enemies to lovers, Enemies with benefits: +10

Big sucker for this trope in all forms. I love antagonism that turns into something else and then oh no, we have to actually communicate about things. Or not. Or, for maximum angst purposes, a betrayal happens. (can ya'll sense a trend yet lmaooooo)

Friends with benefits: +5

Big fan of this trope in a PWP setting, but for anything else, it must also be accompanied by (see below trope) or I probably won't be super interested in the fic.

Sex to feelings: +10

Absolutely love this trope. Sex first, communication second. Lots of room for misunderstandings and heart to hearts.

Fake dating/relationship: +5

Fake dating is my guilty pleasure and I adore it but it's not a drop everything and read it sort of thing for me. It's gotta be propped up by some of the other tropes for me to find it compelling.

Friends to lovers: +5

Same as with fake dating. There's gotta be something else in there to make it more compelling to me, but I do love reading it (and writing it!)

Found Family: 0

This trope used to be a +10 for me but I think I've burned out on it over the last few years lol. Too many antis have used the excuse "ew you can't ship them, they're part of the same found family so it's incest!" and I am just...tired lol.

Not to mention so much fic I've read is often just the female and/or poc characters propping up the white mlm ship and slapping "found family" on the tags.

That said, I'm still a sucker for the trope as a whole, just not so much in fanfic.

Hurt/Comfort: +10

ANGST ANGST ANGST. My bread and butter. Give me all the hurt/comfort. Or hurt with minimal comfort. I love having my heart wrung out.

Unless the love triangle resolves into a polyship do not even show me a love triangle fic lol.

Mistaken/hidden identity: 0

Mistaken and hidden identity to me are two TOTALLY DIFFERENT THINGS but I digress. Not my favorite trope and won't go seeking it out. This kind of goes hand in hand with amnesia fic too I think. I have read some AMAZING ones, but that's like 1 out of every 50 I try to give a chance to lol

Monsterfucking: +100000000000000000000000

Just, yes. Proud monsterfucker always and forever.

Pregnancy: -5

Meh lol. I like kidfic quite a bit, but pregnancy is just not that interesting to me in fic. I think the one exception to this is maybe omegaverse pregnancy fic, but I think that has more to do with the fact that I'm a slut for omegaverse worldbuiding than anything else. Human pregnancy though, could take it or leave it.

Second Chance: +5

I really don't care for this trope as a whole, however I have read some amazing ones recently for Dreamling so it's I'm giving it some points. This is probably due to the fact that I am also a slut for angst hahahaha.

Slowburn: +7

I love a good slow burn but I am also impatient as fuck so I'm docking some points from the full +10 hahahaha. Bless authors for 100k slowburn fics, you are the backbones of fandom.

Soulmates: +10

I LOVE SOULMATES. I love true mates, I love all the lore around having one person be your other half. But I also love people who subvert the trope in fun ways, people whose soulmates have died, people who don't marry their soulmates, immortal soulmates, people born without soulmarks, worlds where soulmates aren't perfect and sometimes your soulmate is also your worst enemy. I may love the subversions more than the actual trope come to think about it lmao.

Today marks our darling Wolf’s one year fandomversary, I almost can’t believe it! Wildflower (E, 1.3k) - the gentlest Charlie/Draco you’ll read today! I’m so soft for this ship and Wolf writes a lovely, soft and romantic tale showcasing a few moments into their relationship. This short is beautifully evocative, a perfect mix of sexy and sweet, with herbologist Draco as a bonus!!

Charlie and Draco's relationship grows like the wildflowers on the alpine meadows, and Charlie wonders how many seasons they'll survive.

A Bigger Splash (E, 7k) - holy shit this Albus/Draco is so hot I can almost taste the summery and forbidden CMBYN vibes in my mouth. Masterfully written, scorching and charming, with trans Albus, body positivity and worship (!!), mirror sex, praise kink, all the goodies my folks, plus delicious hints at side relationships and tons of excellent teasing and UST. This is scorching hot, full of longing and understanding but also sorrow and complications. Grief sex is now my gender and the hill I plan to die on, please and thank. Past Remus/Sirius + hinted Harry/Draco, ohoho 😌🤌🏼

Good Omens S2: review-ish

I saw Good Omens and I honestly don't know what to think. Spoilers ahead. These are my first thoughts and I'm writing it immediately after finishing episode 6, so I will ruminate some more but I wanted to get my thoughts out right now, as some sort of brainstorming.

I am bummed to say that I did not enjoy this new story as much as I enjoyed season 1. Now obviously there is a huuuge difference in watching an adaptation of a story you know well and already love and watching an entirely new thing. But still.

When it comes to the overal plot I did enjoy the Gabriel mystery, at least for about half of the season. It lost steam around the middle and the ending of it... I'm sorry, I do not buy Gabriel falling in love with anyone for one second. Maybe if it wasn't shown in one big info dump and there was time to explore his connection with Beelzebub, I would have enjoyed it better. But Gabriel was such a brilliant asshole in season 1. Amazing even. I loved to hate him and this turnaround did not work for me at all. The fact that I didn't connect with the new actress in the role of Beelzebub probably did not help (obviously I have nothing against the actress personally, she was not bad). So this storyline ended in a disappointment for me. I also cringed a bit ngl. (important to note: I have previously read fanfics for Gabriel/Beelzebub and liked them, so it is not just about this pairing in itself).

Aziraphale and Crowley on the other hand, I enjoyed very much. The whole season is basically a love story, an explicit one this time. Part of me thought - I will admit - that Neil Gaiman just wanted to stop the constant barrage of fans demanding explicit gay sex on screen, but okay, I'll allow it, it was sweet (until it wasn't, then it was heart-wrenching). Both David Tennant and Michael Sheen are in absolute top form and I loved every second of them doing stuff.

The little (and not so little) scenes (or mini episodes) were interesting and fun to watch, the Job story was especially really good. I did not expect to see Crowley as an angel, he was so sweet building nebulas. I could have done without the zombie Nazis... Maybe someone will explain to me why it was necessary to basically stop the story for it, I did not understand it while watching. I expected them to pop up later or something... But no, they are just zombie Nazis. I liked the processing sequence in Hell of that episode, though, it looked very cool and fun, especially the... firewarmer (???).

Do you think Harry and his team have been navigating this stage of his career well? You might look at something someone has done and say 'oh that's terrible', but not known that they had an hour to do something that would normally take five and in fact it would show their skill.

And that general principle becomes heaps more complicated when you're assessing something as broad as managing Harry's career.

For starters, it does sort of depend what's going on behind the scenes. If Harry is often an absolute asshole to people he meets - then his team is doing a stellar job of hiding that. If Nathan Hubbard is right and there are lots of women upset with how Harry has treated them, then his team are doing an amazing job. I don't think either of those are true, but there might be aspects of Harry's life that they're doing a very good job of hiding from us and the definition of them doing a good job is that we don't know we're doing that.

We also don't know what Harry wants and doesn't want. To give an example, which is very close to what I think is true, if Harry wants to play stadiums, keep his current ambiguity about his sexuality, and also play Tom in My Policeman - then it's not like his team can just magic their way out of that set of contradictions with their powers.

In addition, the goals of Harry's team are very different from the goals of fans. As It Was broke records. Harry's album has spent most of the first six months in the top five in both the US and the UK he's selling out residencies. The fact that people are making fun of him is not the end of the world and does not need to be top priority for his team. It may cause fans distress when people say mean things about Harry, but it's not a team's job to make sure that everyone only says nice things about a client.

I will answer the question in a second, but first I do want to address one last assumption I feel is in your post - when it comes to individual events - a celebrity and their team don't have complete control. Would it be easier for Harry if he hadn't made completely inaccurate comments about gay sex in movies? Probably, but people say things and journalists write them down. Was Venice a cluster fuck?
