Hello there! This is an independent, selective RP blog for ANÁRION SON OF ELENDIL from Tolkien’s Legendarium. I am book-based with capricious influence from Rings of Power and I will default to roleplaying within book timelines, characters and events unless otherwise discussed. I will also not be doing crossovers or modern AU’s.

14. What are five of your favorite ships? (In the rp community or otherwise)
Ok I’m about to get real talkative, we’ll leave the obvious one for last;
Denethor/Finduilas/Aragorn: LISTEN. Listen to me. This ship? God tier. The fucking... angst... the drama... the ‘two men of equal mastery and great competative spirit who both love and cannot stand one another and the woman who rages between them’ is so so good it’s SO good. And Aragorn LEAVES? And the sense of loss and betrayal? And Boromir being two when he DOES? And Finduilas dies far away and when Aragorn returns to a (living) Denethor he both recognises and cannot see the man he knew but it’s PAINFUL loving each other alongside bitter blame and without Finduilas being there for it. It’s painful!! AND COMPELLING.
Tar-Telperien/Ciryatur: In my own very specific version of these characters they are BOTH butch lesbians and Ciryatur is a he/they lesbian who has like... another name because Ciryatur is a title but ALSO he just kinda takes that title as his full name because it just WORKS for him so well so he’s always just called Ciryatur. And they are just... an unfathomable power couple in the time just before Numenor went south. Tar-Telperien not wanting to reinforce the resentment festering within Numenor for their elven friends by asking her people to die for them, Ciryatur agreeing, but when she finally relents she still goes and does an incredible job. The COMPETANCY the LESBIANISM the QUEEN WHO CAN CHOOSE WHICHEVER LIFE PARTNER SHE WISHES AND NO ONE CAN SAY SHIT ABOUT IT so she goes down in history as ‘willful’ and ‘too proud’ I’m obsessed and here’s some art
Imrahil/Theoden: Listen, I can’t help how I react to the fact that Imrahil cried out in grief at the sight of Theoden’s body and the pall bearers actually paused for him to collapse at his side and weep with grief and then, still in tears, for him to rush over to Eowyn and discover that she’s still breathing in a kind of desperate yet commanding way. I CANNOt HELP but think about Imrahil and Theoden as young men and I cannot help but think of Theoden, alone and grief stricken after Elfhild’s death needing comfort. And I also will not stop thinking about it either.
Gandalf/Glorfindel: no listen to me ok yes I know I KNOW BUT LISTEN, I swear this isn’t a crackship, this is entirely Lord of the Rings Online’s fault, spoilers for the most recent expansion- LOTRO creates this huge overarching plot that follows Glorfindel and his ‘Bright Company’ who were heroes in the last alliance and in the new expansion you go TOO the last alliance timeline. And you meet Glorfindel and his bright company and this elf Lendellen who’s in it. Glorfindel and Lendellen literally flirt with each other during the whole expansion, Lendellen is bashful around Glorfindel when in general he’s a fucking orc murdering machine that lusts for blood and is not ashamed of it. Glorfindel goes SO soft when Lendellen compliments him. Basically they’re fucking. Then Lendellen is needed to destroy this big stone at the top of Barad Dur or they’re all done for. The bright company all infiltrate the tower but when you, Glorfindel and Lendellen arrive Sauron’s up there. Lendellen still manages to destroy the stone but he’s captured before he can flee and Glorfindel doesn’t notice until it’s too late. Well it turns out!! Lendellen was a previous incarnation of Gandalf! And he was captured and tortured by Sauron for decades, and when he finally died the Valar wanted him to return but he was too traumatised too! So they BRAIN WIPED him and sent him back! And when Glorfindel recognised him he realised that Gandalf didn’t remember their time together and so he did not mention it in case he brought back those traumatic memories. But this is the canon reason why Gandalf is so reluctant to face Sauron up close, he is still instinctually too afraid of what he KNOWS might happen! AND GLORFINDEL HAS HELD THIS LOVING SECRET, SILENTLY PINING AFTER GANDALF AND BEFRIENDING HIM ALL OVER AGAIN FOR 2000 YEARS. SSG MADE ME CARE ABOUT GANDALF, THIS IS ENTIRELY THEIR FAULT, PLAY LOTRO.
Boromir/Theodred: Of course! The obvious one. They’re the exact same age, they have so much in common, they die for the same reasons, with the same sentiments, they love their countries and accept that in one another, they know not to deny each other pain, the way it enhances both of their stories, the way it slips into present canon like a glove, the way they are each other’s narrative parallel and how inherently homoerotic that is, the fact that their love for one another can mirror the love their countries have for each other, the fact that they’re just... the two reliable backbones with this life and this passion that none of their younger family members have any idea about, by their own design, but they finally crumble together and those youngers have to pick up their loads, and then later on they discover so much more of the burdens they had to carry, and everyone grows and it’s just life... and... and... and in some universe they get to find each other again... and then become the anchor between their life of war and their life of peace that they can build on, a happiness that remains good and can guide them into a new age with each other........................... I’m fine.

I won’t rp bigotry, so if your character is queer, disabled, another race, I won’t be on bored. The exception is some prejudice, but it won’t be hateful.

I’m mostly a mobile rper and can’t cut threads easily, sometimes that little x won’t even show up.

About Beleg
Beleg Cuthalion is a Sinda that serves as Thingol’s chief marchwarden.
He’s quick to battle and doesn’t plan ahead. Beleg has been in several large battles and as such he is powerful and resourceful. He is quick to make his choices and more resilient than many, even for elves. He has a single-mindedness and a vast amount of loyalty to those he considers worthy of it.
For all his brash action and eager arguments he is also very sweet and nurturing, having never lost a childlike curiosity of the world. Due to being at Túrin’s side over the years he’s grown more used to the ways of Men, appreciating physical affection in any form.
Beleg loves downtime and would rather only use his weapons for hunting dinner. He goofs around a lot and finds skills that make others laugh are just as important as those that win battles.
Obviously Beleg dies in his story at the hands of Túrin.
My different options when playing him are:
Obviously following canon.
Reborn and scarred from his death.
Heavily injured and survived his death.
If it’s needed to be clarified what version I’m playing as for the plot of a certain rp I’ll mention it in the tags.

From the Years of the Trees to the Fourth Age, from sultry tales of the Silmarillion to romances in the Ring Wars – spread the word, recruit your friends and fellow authors, and have some fun!

Rules & FAQ
By popular demand, we will reveal to you the name of your recipient at your request. Some people find it easier to write or to personalize a story if they know the identity of their recipient. Other people find that thought absolutely horrifying! Now, you can have it either way. If, at any time during the writing period, you wish to know the identity of your recipient, you may ask us. Since other writers do not want to be “spoiled,” we ask that you please keep this information to yourself!
All stories must be a minimum length of 1,200 words, which translates to roughly 3 full pages in Word. Stories must be complete and in their entirety.
Submissions must be COMPLETE, new and previously unreleased, and written specifically for the assignment you receive.
Manners are mandatory!! Be kind to your readers, be kind to your writer, be kind to your overworked admin. Just as you are required to turn in a finished, beta’d story, you are required to acknowledge the person who wrote for you in a timely fashion. If you’re going to be out of town when the archive opens, consider making an LJ post to that effect, or alerting the moderator if you think it’s going to be more than 3 or 4 days before you can get in touch with your writer. Even if you *hate* the story you are given– and we certainly hope that’s not the case!– common courtesy dictates that you should at least say “Thank you for writing this for me.” If you cannot gracefully thank the author who wrote for you, you may be asked to sit out the next round and contemplate the meaning of the word “Courtesy.”
Stories shall not be released to the general fandom on any group, list, or website until after the archive opens on February 14th. After the publication date on this site, feel free to post or archive your work anywhere you would like. Authors may post their own submissions on the Slashy Swap LJ community after the publication date on this site if they choose.
Authors are responsible for posting their own stories to the Slashy Swap collection at AO3 on or before the due date. If you have any questions, need an AO3 invitation or have difficulties, please email the moderator: [email protected].
PROHIBITIONS / RESTRICTIONS
No fiction involving a minor in a sexual situation, even in flashback, no matter how vaguely alluded to, will be permitted. Period.
No songfics.
No het pairings as anything other than secondary characters or plots.
No bestiality. (Tolkien characters that manifest as cognizant beings are fine. If in doubt, ask us.)
No RPS (real person slash) will be accepted.
No blatant Mary Sue, Marty Stu, or self-inserts.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: Can I ask for femslash?
Yes! We had our first femslash stories during the 2013 My Slashy Valentine swap, and we’d love to have you join us.
Q: I see a main focus on Elves, Men, Valar and Maiar. What about Dwarves and Hobbits?
A: In previous swaps there was less emphasis on Dwarves and Hobbits, but due to the release of the Hobbit movies, that’s starting to change. We’re happy to try and accommodate any request, though it is dependent on having writers able to fill these requests. You can help this process by spreading the word to your fellow Dwarf and Hobbit writers.
Q: I just received my assignment and it fits perfectly into part of a series I’ve been working on. Can I use it anyway?
A: We’d prefer your story to be original and created solely for your recipient, but so long as your submission fits the assignment you received, can be read and understood as a standalone, and it’s new and unreleased, then go ahead.
Q: Yikes! I’ve been working on my story, but there was a family emergency and I don’t think I’ll make the deadline. What should I do?
A: Let us know! The Slashy Swap team have families too and understand that emergencies sometimes happen. The sooner you tell us, the easier it will be for us to come to a mutually agreeable solution.
Q: Unfortunately, the emergency has turned into something longer term and I won’t be able to finish my story after all.
A: Again, please let us know as soon as possible so we can find a replacement to finish your assignment.
Q: I signed up for the previous exchanges, but never turned anything in. Can I still participate?
A: No. It simply isn’t fair to those who met their obligations, or to the person who didn’t get a story. If it was under special circumstances, reach out to the mods and we will review your case.
Q: Do I need to have my work beta read? I don’t have one!
A: While we will not strictly enforce the use of a beta, we strongly encourage it. At the very least, please proof read and run a spell and grammar check. If you need help finding a beta, let us know and we’ll direct you to some beta resources. Remember, you’re writing a gift for someone, so make your story as perfect as it can be.
Q: HELP! I received the worst assignment in the world! What were you thinking? I can’t write this!
A: It was likely an oversight. Please contact us and we will do what we can to find another assignment that is more to your taste and ability. If you already confirmed you would accept it, we can’t make promises, but we’ll do the best we can to help. NOTE: In some rare instances, it may not be possible for a request to be filled to the requestor’s exact specifications. This may occur if no author is willing to write the elements in the request (some examples are BDSM, fetish, rape, MPREG, or character death). In this case, the participant will be asked to revise their request so that we’ll be able to match it. ~ * ~

Gandalf is NOT a kindly old man, nor in general could he be called kind, he is manipulative, haughty and quick to anger over deserved slights. I will also not be doing crossovers or modern AU’s.
I go by ERRAN and they/them pronouns. I am 25 and I live in the UK so GMT time. Gandalf is a VERY new and somewhat selective muse of mine and he is less well developed for me than he might be. I have yet to get my teeth into him properly and this blog is more of an experiment.

AH YES so I’ve always, ever since I first started rping in tlotr fandom, been wondering how to interact reliably with Vezely without it being a total bore for you. Antagonistic threads are difficult and usually best left until writers have gotten to know each other, but none of my muses are particularly!! Malleable in that regard.
My intrigue REALLY peaked when I remembered Vezely was Eorl’s slayer, which seems like such a meaty start for a thread between her and Theodred? Perhaps an interesting discussion surrounding ‘weregild’ as a concept.
Just some way of creating a situation where Boromir and Vezely can exchange the different viewpoints of the other within their cultures would be very cool, but again CONTENTIOUS given Boromir’s ‘the cruel easterlings’ or some such line he has and Vezely’s assumed disdain too.
I’ve been mulling over a thread within your tolkien AU where Vezely’s journeying west is something Denethor discovers through the Palantir, meaning that Boromir could perhaps come to meet and de...fend? Her? Aide her safe travel? I am not sure where her western journey would take her, though I imagine north of Mordor?
Lord.. REALLY my greatest desire is to rp with Vezely with another OC of mine I don’t have an active blog for... but Hravanis and Vezely would be so interesting a meeting and crucially Hravanis would be more... well there would be a lot more chance for them to speak and interact within Vezely’s home and dig into all this vast worldbuilding you have. ANYWAY. Let me know if you’ve insight on any of this :)

I am book-based with no influence from the films and I will stick to roleplaying within book timelines, characters and events. I will also not be doing crossovers or modern AU’s, my muse for Boromir is pretty tightly tied to the world and circumstances he’s involved in I’m afraid!
I go by ERRAN and they/them pronouns. I am 28 and I live in the UK so GMT time. I have been roleplaying, drawing and developing Boromir, the Stewards and Gondor itself for a very long time so I have a lot of personal and ingrained ideas that might appear in my writing. You also might find me complaining about how Boromir was portrayed in the films and, indeed... complaints about the films in general! These will be tagged film critical.

I am book-based with no influence from the films and I will stick to roleplaying within book timelines, characters and events. I will also not be doing crossovers or modern AU’s, my muse for Theodred is pretty tightly tied to the world and circumstances he’s involved in I’m afraid!
I go by ERRAN and they/them pronouns. I am 27 and I live in the UK so GMT time. Theodred is a somewhat selective muse of mine but I’ve developed his character very specifically and with it some amount of Rohir culture. However I’m very happy and eager to incorperate other’s meta surrounding Rohan! You also might find me complaining about how Theodred was portrayed in the films and, indeed… complaints about the films in general! These will be tagged film critical.
