Her music weaves aether in such a way that it enhances her magical abilities, so even when utilizing her healing or destructive magics, she often weaves her bardwork into it. Hobbies: Traveling, making music, journaling, reading (in the past study of the Void has been her speciality and passion - but she's always had a soft spot for epics, romances, and such), knitting, cooking.

Most Positive Trait: She's got way more love to give than you might expect, she just sometimes has a hard time showing it. Open-minded/flexible, she's not often put-off or caught off guard and is very accepting (at times forgiving, to a fault). Most Negative Trait: Still getting over the trauma of 'people who get close to me tend to suffer terribly', which leads her to distancing herself. Really prone to wanderlust and violence (as in, loves a good fight). Good luck slowing her down and good luck getting her out of it if you got her in 'fight mode'.

Okay, DAMN, you don't need to read my character for filth. I will say I think the only thing El would fundamentally disagree on is the initial 'you never wanted to hurt anyone', only because she's conditioned herself to believe violence is an amicable answer, but I also think that in itself is a cover and the result of trauma after trauma that Ishgard inflicts.

When you're told that you're an outsider no matter what — no matter the money, the power, the prestige, the honour! — it's little wonder one might spit in their faces. When you see the hypocrisy and you're told it's not your place to question it... no wonder you turn a little evil.

I think she's allowed. I think she should kill men for fun. I give her permission.

I was tagged by @wondrouswendy ARE YOU NAMED AFTER ANYONE?

My username is what I came up with when I was trying to create a character in SWTOR. I originally wanted a character named Zane after Zane Grey, one of my favorite authors, but it was taken. So I had to get creative and I've kept it ever since. I think the name Zath is pretty cool and feels like it represents me well. Unfortunately it's taken in most places so I added Ranger to the front of it encompassing several types of Rangers. From an FBC ranger, the rangers of the wild west , to rangers in Tolkien's fantasy. A protector. One who makes their own way. The title seems to suit me.

WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU CRIED?

I can't recall.

DO YOU HAVE KIDS?

Negative.

WHAT SPORTS DO YOU PLAY/HAVE YOU PLAYED?

Everything. From baseball, basketball, volleyball, golf, chess. Name a sport and I've probably played it. Big into sports growing up. I was always playing something no matter the season.

DO YOU USE SARCASM?

Indeed.

WHAT IS THE FIRST THING YOU NOTICE ABOUT PEOPLE?

If they like Zachariah Trench or not.

WHAT'S YOUR EYE COLOUR?

Green.

SCARY MOVIES OR HAPPY ENDINGS?

Happy Endings. Give me the creepy Cthulhu horrors and uphill battles along the way but let them ride off into the sunset and be happy together.

ANY TALENTS?

I have a very vivid imagination. My friends call it "Zath's endless pool of ideas".

Earth.

Daydreaming, gaming, writing, reading, video editing, podficcing. Just recently I started drawing. Sharing the good word about my favorite characters.

Enough.

History. It always fascinated me back when I was in school. Even now when I learn little tidbits here and there.

DREAM JOB?

Honestly, I wish I could be a writer, but I have no talent. I have imagination in spades though. Such is my curse.

(excerpt from post-Myths of the Realm bench chat with Deryk so some vague spoilers for Myths)

“Tell me, though…” Ahru tilted her head, eyes narrowing. A smirk tugged at her lips as she scooted a touch closer and surreptitiously lowered her voice. “Did you really never do anything? No teeny-tiny interventions?” 

She had her suspicions, after all, and now that she had the chance to confirm them? How couldn’t she at least give a little prod? 

The smirk on Deryk’s face was subtle, and the shrug he gave equally so. “Who’s to say?” His gaze slid away from hers, towards the horizon. “It’s not as if anyone can know what way the winds will blow next, after all. Even the so-called Gods.”

Her delight outweighed this playful secretiveness, and she gave a sharp, triumphant: “Hah!” The baby jumped in surprise, watching her with wide eyes as her tail swished eagerly. “It was you that time with the kobolds then!”

He closed his eyes and tilted his head in a shrug, repeating: “Who can say?”

“You! You can say!” She laughed some more, overcome with a joy and confidence that she had been right. That time she’d been chased by a horde of kobolds -ages ago now- it had been his guiding winds that led her to safety. 

His next words, however, caught her off-guard. 

“Your song about the kobolds- What was it, ‘choking on boulders’? was quite inspired.”

All at once she half-snorted, half-choked on air, nearly sent reeling and wheezing. She barely remembered that, and now she was mortified to discover that he did.

Both of her hands scrabbled at her burning face, pressing to her temples. She had some vague recollection of a jaunty little tune she’d jokingly, sardonically crafted on-the-spot, inspired by the circumstances.

She may have suggested ‘giant boulders’ as a euphemism for Titan’s balls. Groaning, she rubbed furiously at her red face. Deryk just laughed. 

“It was a little rough around the edges, but your talents have come far.”

“Let’s stop talking about this.” 

“If you wish,” he said with an all-too-amused chuckle.

“Was there anything less embarrassing you did?”

“Less embarrassing for you, you mean?” The twinkle in his eye was gently teasing, and yet she couldn’t bring herself to balk at it - not at all, not even in a half-hearted sense. To see him smile and laugh -to see him here, alive- made her heart sing. And gods it felt good to laugh, even at her own expense.
