On the eve of the futures index settlement, Hong Kong stocks took advantage of Alibaba (9988) to announce the reorganization structure clearance, and technology stocks took a short position. The Hang Seng Index gap opened 563 points higher to 20,348, and then soared up to 653 points, reaching 20,437, the highest level since the 6th of this month, and then profit-taking, closing at 20,192, up 407 points, the highest since last Thursday. It stabilized at 20,000 points and closed again. The HS technology index closed at 4,246, up 102 points. The full-day turnover of the main board was HK$146.4 billion, 38% more than the previous day.

The selling pressure from the high level of the Hang Seng Index yesterday was not heavy, which means that funds continued to flow into the stock market. Today’s index futures settlement is expected to be volatile. As a result, the market took advantage of the news of Alibaba’s restructuring. The Hang Seng Index broke through most of the moving averages and was temporarily restricted by the 50-DMA (20,671). It is expected that the market outlook will be supported by 19,600 to 19,800 points, and the next target may be the resistance above the Bollinger Band at about 20,700. There is a chance to challenge the 21,000 mark in the short term. The trend of the HS Tech index is biased good. It once rose above the50-DMA (4,250) yesterday, staying above all major moving averages. In the future market, it is looking at the high of 4,825 in January this year.

HSBC estimated that unless the U.S. economy slows down sharply, the Federal Reserve will not cut interest rates until the second quarter of 2024, and bank stocks rose. European stock markets rose across the board, French stocks closed up 1.39% better performance, British stocks and German stocks rose 1.07% and 1.23%.

The market’s worries about the banking crisis were temporarily relieved, and large technology stocks performed well. Semi-centennial and Five, photograph, 1955. I’ve been working on exploring the idea of evolution, generational relationships, and heritage in one of my latest projects. The photographs, documented on projector slides, my grandfather took span 50 years and 5 generations.
