woah!! hii!! welcome to my blog!! whaaat!??!! (°ロ°) !

this was made cause i think aggressive anon and worm are really cool and i really liked the idea of making an anon blog, i think was the word?? (and i'm too nervous to just talk on my main),, so yay!! credits to them :DD

I'd like to start keeping worms but I haven't had any pet inverts before. I know earthworm species are very available, but are there other taxa that would be ok to start with?

given that “worm” is one of the most paraphyletic and least taxonomically valid words (any tube animal), I’d say… not really, unfortunately, bar any parasites you might be already carrying inside you.

as you said, plenty of earthworms available. red wrigglers (Eisenia, Dendrobaena, often mixed up) are quite hardy and thrive on vegetable waste, others less so. some aquarists culture aquatic oligochaetes like blackworms or Tubifex, though they just sort of sit around in clumps at the bottom of a few inches of water and eat particles.

leeches are also annelid worms, but you may not want to have to offer yourself as food, and the predatory leeches are just not available.

polychaetes are also annelids, and some large ones like Eunice are famous for wrecking aquaria (although to me that just sounds like they thrive in captivity) but saltwater seems like a huge pain plus expense to me.

there aren’t any commonly available flatworms or nemerteans, and given their capacity to become nasty invasive species, this is a good thing (at least, applies to the colorful predatory land-dwelling ones I favor. I suppose you could get some Dugesia from a bio supply site, though they don’t seem to fare well unless you’ve got an aquarium set up for them to infest.) land flatworms are also fairly tricky to culture, given that some like cooler conditions than humans do and all need clean moist soil and live prey.

stepping outside the Lophotrochozoa, nematodes are probably one of the wormiest little guys to ever do it, but unfortunately they aren’t particularly exciting as pets if you can even see them.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard of anyone keeping horsehair worms in captivity other than by keeping wild-caught adult arthropods and having them burst free seeking water.

another ecdysozoan, velvet worms… are not for the beginner, although some do thrive in captivity under expert care. in fact, anyone who can afford velvet worms should give that money to me. I want them. please dear god I want the little glue spraying mush beast but simply cannot live without my organs I’d have to sell to afford them

insect larvae are probably not what you meant by “worm” though many of them are referred to as such. I’ve probably made this post a bit silly by this point but if you are actually interested in arthropod “worms” I’d be happy to offer advice on keeping leps, beetles, or flies, as there are many fun insects with wormy enough offspring!

just thinking about how INSANE it was for them have cas trail off after he says for the first time i feel like BITCH WHAT you feel what?? and THAT WAS IT??? HE JUST FEELS??? INSANE i’m losing it a little can you tell dhhsjssj

ooohhh oHHHHHH. Literally for the first time Cas FEELS. The first time in his entire existence literally he's a billion years old and this is the FIRST time. And he's terrified and overwhelmed because suddenly he's feeling everything so much at a heightened level. He's hit with fear and pain and worry and care and sadness and a but of happiness and doubt, all at once for the first time EVER. Because when you're a human you just "feel" yk, and yeah sometimes it's too much and sometimes you can't handle it, but you know what "feeling" itself, is at least, but Cas has no idea. He's gone a billion years without it, only hearing about it through other people so there's no way he could have possibly prepared for it. And that line is just so perfect because he "feels" and trails off and can't describe it and that's just so incredibly human to feel so much and not now how to describe it, let alone name what you're feeling. Like that one line changes the course of everything, if you think about it it's the tipping point of the show. Because earlier Cas had said, "I was getting too close to the humans in my charge. You. They feel I've begun to express emotions. The doorways to doubt. This can impair my judgment". Meaning heaven thought that Cas had maybe began to feel, but Cas didn't say he agreed and Cas didn't say he had begun to feel, just that heaven thought he had, he was holding onto the hope that he wasn't an "abomination". But Cas speaking to Anna later he says "For the first time I feel", Cas admitted it, Cas said it and Cas understood, for the first time in his existence. And that's what made Cas, Cas.

Like without that one moment nothing would have worked out the way it did, Cas would have never rebelled and they would have lost and that would have been it. And it makes Cas, Cas. Because he wasn't even supposed to experience a single emotion, but he learned how to feel and care about everything, so damn much. And it shows that he really is the only character to have had free will because that moment he learned how to feel, he admitted to feeling he never stopped, he felt, he questioned and he never stopped no matter what happened to him, and he was never supposed to. Everything Cas ever did, he did because he cared so damn much. And yeah Edlund obviously cant predict the future, he didn't know the entire journey Cas would take. But we wouldn't have gotten any of what we did, if it wasn't for that single line, if Edlund didn't make it clear that Cas had started to feel, he worded it carefully and purposefully. He didn't have to include the "feeling" aspect, he could have just said Cas has begun to question things because heaven's orders seemed strange, but no. He said Cas began to express doorways to doubt and question BECAUSE he learned to feel.

(new pokemon spoiler - early design review)

I’ve been asked the most about a particular new pokemon line so here are my thoughts on it a few weeks to a month before I’ll actually be able to do new pokemon reviews on bogleech:

If I saw Applin on its own with no context, I’d be really excited by the assumption we were FINALLY getting a “worm” themed pokemon, and we sort of are, except this is a dragon type, so it’s a “wyrm” in an apple. That’s pretty clever, honestly, but the first stage really looks the best with those simple leaf-like eyestalks sticking out of a fruit.

“Flapple” is the best in the line because it kind of looks wormiest and keeps those cool, almost mantis-like eyes, however it still reads first and foremost as a reptile, so, we still don’t have a single annelid in the Pokemon world.

The apple pie lizard one....doesn’t do it for me at all. The back of it looks really weird. I would have preferred it have more of a “pie crust shell” than the reptile’s back simply fading into pie crust color, which looks really jarring and odd to me.

The Gigantamax form had the potential to be the coolest, since it’s just a monster version of the first stage, but....that face bugs me. The fat, round cheeks and the toothless mouth with a tongue always sticking out are actually kind of viscerally unpleasant to me. That kind of toothless puffiness, also seen in characters like Yoshi, has unfortunately always felt very uncanny to me ever since I was a kid, not in the creepy-cool monster way but just an unpleasant way. Some people have said that style is trademark of certain fetish art, but I’ve found it creepy even before I knew what that was, and I think honestly the main reason is that it reminds me of cabbage patch dolls.

Overall I like the concept a whole lot, but it falls just short of being a new favorite for me.

CR Binge: Echoes of the Past

Omg I cannot get past the scene with Vax breaking it to Gilmore. He even kissed him. ❤️ That was amazing. And kinda heartbreaking. (I have now been instructed by @spacefiend0128 to write fic with them cuddling in the coffee shop AU she's been helping me work out.)

I love drunk Keyleth. She is so adorable. (I don't tend to like drunk people in real life, but this is different!)

OMG Scanlan has a DAUGHTER. I did not expect that. Holy crap. I really thought she was snowing him at first, but nope. Wow.

Pike is the only one in the party who can easily beat doors! 😂

Man, Vax has his panties in a bunch as they're going through the house! I'm not sure why. He can get tetchy sometimes.

And then they finished the episode singing the Ducktails song, so that's going to be stuck in my head for the next week.
