#the newsies nostalgia got to me ok
not ten minutes into The Heart of Rock and Roll Corey Cott’s character is all “everyone needs music! music is life!” and I thought, “Donny Novitski, is that you?”
then in the resolution he’s telling a girl “what we feel for each other is real” and I’m like “Donny? Novitski? Is that you?”
anyway you can see this man sing in real life for $25 during previews so why not, nyc

newsies is my favorite because I was obsessed with the 1992 movie for like all of middle school and high school but I also love Billy Elliott, Hadestown, the Band's Visit, Les Mis and then Music Man and Fiddler on the Roof have a special place in my heart due to nostalgia
anon this is TASTE ok tbh i MUCH prefer the broadway newsies to 92 newsies but some of the movie is quite good i do like that davey had a sister but also katherine didnt exist in the movie so it’s really a trade off. god tier would be having one version of newsies with katherine AND sarah but the heteros dont want it for us :/
BILLY ELLIOT come on man thats the best shit EVER i love billy elliot actually though reverse situation bc i prefer the billy elliot movie to the musical mainly because i think the musical really did michael dirty like in the movie he’s an actual character who has an arc and it’s interesting and then the musical was like “comic relief!!” and i was like no???? thats not ??? what hes supposed to be??? so anyway. but in general i just love billy elliot also points to elton john for writing the music for it tbh i want a rocketman sequel about the part of elton john’s life where he wrote for musicals like that’s crazy (also while im at it i want the sequel also to include when he featured on save rock & roll just can u FUCKING imagine an elton john biopic and fall out boy fucking randomly shows up oh my god id fucking die)
ive never listened to hadestown or the band’s visit even though i KNOW i should because il ove greek mythology and i am a FUCKIGN JEW so ive been repeatedly told to listen to both of these things i just havent got round to it yet but im pretty sure i have bootlegs somewhere lol and im not a HUGE fan of music man i much prefer singin’ in the rain but i respect that. les mis is very very good ive never seen a stage production but have watched the movie twice and i like it a lot even though its quite emotional and i just watched fiddler on the roof in yiddish off-broadway in december!! it was SO good i hadn’t actually seen it life before and hadnt seen the movie for AGES so i didnt remember how it went down but i LOVED the show it made me cry man i really am just out here loving musicals huh
