The room was silent except for the echoing sound of Nona’s vintage alligator peep-toed pumps as they slammed across the floor, as she charged in.

“You are late!”

“Now Glenda,” Nona excitedly exhaled. “You know I told you I had to go to Pointe Richmond, today? My favorite store was having their fifty percent off annual sale.”

Surprise and embarrassment ran a swift race across Glenda’s face. “Did you go to Ancient Ways? Oh, I’d forgotten.”

Nona hurried over and thrust a bag in Glenda’s hand. “See, I got you something.”

 “Thank you,” Glenda muttered, with an apologetic tone in her voice.

Nona turned and made a beeline across the room. “Oh, and here’s yours Consuelo,” she said excitedly, handing her a bag.

Nona sighed heavily. “For some reason, the traffic on Highway 80 was ridiculous today.”

“Thank you, Nona,” Consuelo smiled and let her eyes settle on Nona’s for a second before she nodded agreement.  “It’s true, about the traffic being heavy on Highway 80, today. Just this morning I saw it on the news, something to do with a big rig turning over,” she said, with a heavy Spanish accent.

Nona leaned in close and whispered. “Thanks for having my back Consuelo. By the way, I picked you up some that Herb man’s best sage, the one you like.”

“Excellent,” Consuelo replied with a look of surprise. “You must have read my mind. I was almost out.”

To top that off, she is also running late for her first day of work at her new job. Then low and behold her drunken mistake is one of her new bosses.  I really loved the chemistry that Melanie and Matthew have. I thought they worked well together and they were good together. I found myself wanting to know more about them. I of course wanted them to be together. I do like that they both had to grow up a bit in order to figure out the other one. I though this was a super cute rom-com book. Definitely worth reading. I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Tara September. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it. with Author Tara September Waffle fries or curly fries? - Neither. I like crispy steak frites … or McDonald’s fries, I know, but they are sooo good. GIF with a hard g or soft g? - Hard, like my men, lol. Fantasy or science-fiction? Hmm both, but if pressed I’d say Sci-Fi. Love me some Star Wars. Superman or Batman? - Superman! He’s super, it’s in his name after all. This is actually a debate the hero and heroine have in my holiday office romance, Mine to Five. Text message or call? - TXT! I have a phobia about having to sort out issues over the phone with strangers. Contest a bill or having to call customer service? Ugh the worst. So if I can just send a strongly worded email instead, even better! Even my besties have accepted that I’m not the friend that will chat on the phone for hours. FANKIDS APPRECIATION WEEK, DAY 2: Double Trouble

DIANA and FREDDIE QUINTIN, are the children of Brianna O’Rourke and Elias Quintin (@amerrymystery). Diana is a protective big sister, sometimes smothering Freddie, but he loves her a lot. There’s also a seven year age gap between the two, which is definitely the cause of a lot of Diana’s protective moments and Freddie’s moments of jealousy. Ultimately, these two are a good representation of a relationship that Brianna always wanted between siblings.

MICHAEL and WINIFRED O’DONNELL are the children of Ryan O’Donnell and Penny Haywood. A pair of troublemaking siblings, these two embody the spirit of their father and his siblings with an age gap similar to their mother and her sister. Michael can be quite protective of his sister… much to Winifred’s displeasure. Both are a bit closer to their cousins than each other, but Michael and Winifred would do anything for each other.

NICKY and RUBY FITZGERALD-WILSON are the children of Huck Fitzgerald and Lyra Wilson (@cursebreakerfarrier). A sweet yet bickering set of siblings, who don’t quite get along until Nicky starts Hogwarts. However, despite their arguments, Nicky is quite protective of Ruby and he’s the only one who’s allowed to make fun of her. They’re also both named after their grandparents, with Nicky’s first name being after his paternal grandfather and Ruby’s first name being after her maternal grandmother.

NOAH and MAYA KINGSLEY-VALDEZ are the twin children of Camila Valdez and Jasper Kingsley (@cursebreakerfarrier), although they have different birthdays with Noah being born at 11:58 pm on August 1, 2015 and Maya being born at 12:03 on August 2. They grow up near the grounds of Hogwarts as their parents are both professors, so Noah and Maya have always been able to explore the castle, its grounds, and Hogsmeade. They generally get along, but of course, end up butting heads at times. They love each other, though.

FLORA and IAN MACKADE are the children of Finn MacKade and Scotty Rosier (@drinkyoursoupbitch). Flora and Ian generally get along pretty well, but they bicker a bit more than their cousins. A chaotic pair for sure, Flora and Ian love each other a lot… they just don’t always like each other. Despite this, there’s nothing that Flora wouldn’t do for Ian and vice versa. Ian just annoys Flora quite easily as he always has ridiculous questions, while Flora can be a bit critical of Ian, especially about quidditch, which annoys him.

KENNEDY and GUS BATTERSEA-PEMBROKE are the twin children of Luke Battersea and Sophie Pembroke. Kennedy takes after her parents, while Gus generally takes after his Granda John. They usually get along pretty well, although they have their fights like all siblings. Kennedy and Gus can count on one another, though, something that was instilled on them by their parents.

JEM and HARPER O’DONNELL-LEE are the children of Declan O’Donnell-Lee and Callie Black (@mjs-oc-corner). The two siblings grew up surrounded by love and cousins. Jem took after his paternal grandfather and generally has a good relationship with his sister. Their relationship mimics their paternal grandmother’s relationships with her own siblings, being protective and chaotic and kind and full of all the sibling contradictions.

FANKIDS APPRECIATION WEEK, DAY 3: Holy Trinities

AISLING, SAOIRSE, and OSCAR LYNCH are the children of Tadhg Lynch and Niamh Kelly. Saoirse and Oscar are twins, five years younger than Aisling. They’ve generally got a good relationship, which is quite the antithesis to their father’s own sibling relationship. The three of them get on quite well, although Saoirse has a tendency to compare herself to her older sister and the twins are a bit closer to each other than they are to Aisling.

GIO, ENZO, and REVA ROVERE-PARSONS are the children of Georgie Parsons and Angelo della Rovere (@potionboy3). They usually get along alright, although the similarities between Gio and Reva can cause them to butt head and both of them are closer to Enzo than to each other. The Rovere-Parsons kids do have a good relationship, which is something their parents tried to foster in them… especially because there’s no extenuating circumstances that can cause too much damage to their sibling relationships.

MILES, JANE, and KATE O’NEILL are the children of Rory O’Neill. Miles is Rory’s son with his late first wife, Francesca Ashby, while Jane and Kate, are his twin daughters with his second wife, Ethel Malinda (@gaygryffindorgal). There’s a fourteen year age gap between Miles and the girls, which precludes a lot of chances for closeness between them during Jane and Kate’s childhood. However, as the girls grow up, their relationship with Miles grows closer and they’re able to find more in common with one another.

MAGGIE, RICHARD, and AUDREY SAPIEHA are the children of Aisling Lynch and Jojo Sapieha (@slytherindisaster). These three, in many ways, subvert expectations. Maggie’s the troublemaker, while Richard, who looks like his maternal grandfather, is the serious and responsible one and Audrey is the carefree animal lover. They generally get along, although Maggie is a bit older than Richard and Audrey. They do have a tendency to bicker a bit, but well, there’s genes from two of the Gryffindorks in these kids.

SETH, NAOMI, and CIARAN O’DONNELL are the triplet children of Conor O’Donnell and Ruth Lyman. Born shortly after Christmas, the triplets generally have a good relationship with one another. Seth, Naomi, and Ciaran are quite close and typically, their relationship is similar to their father’s relationship with his siblings. They’re rather similar to their parents and each other, which can cause some heads to butt. They’re also the youngest of the O’Donnell cousins.

WYATT, JONAH, and ZOEY MACKADE are the children of Nate MacKade and Nova Hartley (@gaygryffindorgal). Wyatt might be five years older than the twins, Jonah and Zoey, and a lot more carefree than either of them ever were, but he’s their big brother and he loves them. Jonah and Zoey love him too, even if they find him too obnoxious. Meanwhile, the twins have a strong relationship that’s prone to bickering as Zoey acts like the big sister and Jonah gets annoyed by it. Wyatt, Jonah, and Zoey love each other a lot, but like their cousins, they don’t always like each other.

LYLA, AMELIA, and TOMMY WHITTEN-MARCH are the adopted children of Thea Whitten and Noa March (@thatravenpuffwitch), although Lyla and Amelia are identical twins. Tommy joined the family last, at the age of four after the death of his father, while the twins, Lyla and Amelia were adopted as babies. Thus, it took them awhile to start forming a bond as Lyla and Amelia are also six years older than Tommy. However, they did eventually have a good relationship and prove that sibling bonds can transcend blood.

ASHER, HAZEL, and HUGH WHITTEN are the children of Jack Whitten and Sage Carridan (@kc-and-co). They have a good relationship, with Asher taking after their mother and Hazel and Hugh taking after their father. Hazel and Hugh have a slightly closer relationship than either of them have with Asher. However, this doesn’t stop a close bond from forming, as the siblings found ways to connect… commonly golf as they often accompanied their maternal grandfather to the golf course.

"What, McKade?! No, I do NOT! Stoooooooop" Scotty Rosier's distinct voice practically shrieked from the Gryffindor quidditch locker doorway. "I just think he's...well, he's...he's good at quidditch is all. So there."

Finn froze, a frown forming on his face. Why were the Gryffindors discussing him? Or, perhaps more importantly, why did Scotty’s voice sound so off and what the hell did she mean by “No, I do NOT!”? Finn knew he wasn’t always the most observant person, so it was likely that he might have missed something. But still, the words stuck with him and they rolled around his head for the next two days as he tried to make sense of what little he had heard that day, outside of the Gryffindor quidditch locker room.

Father: David Padraig MacKade [deceased, 1965-2006]

Born in 1965, David was the oldest child of Jean and Joseph MacKade. He had a good childhood and was joined by a younger sister, Jennifer, when he was three. He went on to study criminal justice in Dublin, where in 1991, he was set up on a blind date with Clare O’Brien, his future wife, by one of their mutual friends. David was wary of the blind date, even though his friend insisted that Clare was a good fit for him. He agreed, though, and it was one of the best decisions of his life. Even though they didn’t officially begin dating until 1992. They dated for a year, before marrying in late 1993. Their first year of marriage was fairly calm and full of love.  In 1994, they moved back to David’s hometown of Mullingar, where he accepted a career in the Garda as an inspector. He kept this career for five years, eventually retiring after he suffered a bullet injury to his leg. After his retirement, he found a career working as an assistant manager in a local, small-time football/soccer club.

On December 30, 1996, David welcomed his first two children, Finnian Joseph and Nathaniel Brian. A little over three years later, David welcomed his third son, Padraig Darragh who was mostly known as Paddy on April 16, 2000. Then, three years after Paddy, David welcomed his youngest son, Owen, on June 3, 2003. 

Things got complicated after Owen was born, though. Clare was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor. It broke David’s heart, but he carried on the best he could, providing a solid and strong force for his young sons, who were just as (if not more) heartbroken and confused as he was. By late 2004, it had become clear that Clare’s cancer was terminal and she passed away shortly after, leaving David a widower and single father. He did his best, thanks to help from his mother and sister.  He provided a stable and loving home for his sons, even as they downsized into a smaller house.

Unfortunately, tragedy came for the MacKade family once again in the summer of 2006. David had gone running earlier that day and collapsed in the family’s living room late one night. His eldest sons were the ones that found him and called for an ambulance, but it was too late and the only information provided to David’s mother was that he had suffered a pulmonary embolism but that they couldn’t quite figure out where it had come from.

Finn had a good relationship with his father. However, many of his memories have started to fade as he was only nine when his father passed away. In addition, it’s hard to forget the image of his father’s lifeless body. Despite this, Finn does have many good memories of his father and a feeling of warmth and love whenever he thinks about his father. 

Mother: Clare MacKade née O’Brien [deceased, 1967-2004]

Born in 1967, Clare O’Brien was the oldest daughter of Owen and Mary O’Brien and grew up in County Waterford, Ireland. She had a happy and calm childhood, eventually joined by a younger sister, Fiadh, in 1973. After completing her schooling, Clare went to university in Dublin, where she studied nursing. In 1991, Clare was set up on a blind date with David MacKade by a mutual friend. Clare was much more optimistic about the date than David. She enjoyed the date quite a lot, but didn’t mind that it wasn’t until 1992 that they began dating officially. Clare and David married a year later, in 1993. The first year of their marriage was quite smooth and full of love. In 1994, Clare moved to her husband’s hometown of Mullingar. She quickly found a job as a nurse at the local hospital. She continued to work at the hospital until she needed to take sick leave and when she took maternity leave after her boys were born.

On December 30, 1996, Clare welcomed her first children, Finnian Joseph and Nathaniel Brian. A little over three years later, her third son, Padraig Darragh (mostly known as Paddy), was born on April 16, 2000. Three years after Paddy, her youngest son, Owen David, was born on June 3, 2003. 

However, shortly after Owen was born, Clare began having bad headaches and feeling quite ill. After many tests, she was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor meaning that it was cancerous. In 2004, Clare began treatment. Unfortunately, it proved ineffective as her diagnosis became terminal a few months later. Clare passed away in late 2004, a few weeks before the twins’ eighth birthday.

Finn had a good relationship with his mother. They had never had the closest relationship, but Finn loved his mother very much and misses her everyday. He doesn’t have many clear memories of his mother, though, as he was only seven when she passed away. He does have moments when he wishes that he could talk her and does have moments where he’s just angry at her for dying and at cancer for taking her.

Twin Brother: Nathaniel Brian “Nate” MacKade

Born on December 30, 1996 at 12:07 pm, Nate is the second son of David and Clare MacKade, twelve minutes younger than Finn, and a Hufflepuff. Finn has a close relationship with his brother. It’s not perfect by any means, but their relationship has always come through the other side. There may have been some contentious moments when they were children, but the older they get the less often those moments occur. It also helps that as they get older, they’re not living on top of each other for as long. Finn knows that Nate will always have his back and that he can count on Nate to keep his secrets. Finn also doesn’t bicker too much with Nate, and when they do, it doesn’t stick for too long.

Born on April 16, 2000, Paddy is the third son of David and Clare MacKade, approximately four years younger than Finn, and a Hufflepuff. Finn has a good relationship with his younger brother, although there is a bit of distance between them as they have never had that many interests in common. Plus, Paddy gravitates more towards Nate anyways. Despite this, Finn would do anything for his little brother. He loves his brother a lot.

Born on June 3, 2003, Owen is the fourth son of David and Clare MacKade, approximately seven years younger than Finn, and a Ravenclaw. Finn has a close relationship with his youngest brother and while it’s not perfect, it is a good one. Their age gap of approximately seven years helps to make it so that some things don’t cause arguments the way they would with a brother who was closer in age. Finn can be quite protective of his little brother, which is definitely due to their age gap. He loves Owen a lot though and he would do anything for his little brother.

Grandmother: Jean Frances MacKade née Hughes [1935-2029]

Born in 1935, Jean Hughes grew up in Surrey, England as the daughter of an Irishman and an Englishwoman. She had a good childhood, although it was interrupted when her father went off to war in 1941. It was tough on Jean, who at six, didn’t understand what was happening or why her beloved father had to leave. This was compounded when her maternal cousins came to live with Jean and her mother. Her teen years were better, as her family had gone back to normal, even though things weren’t exactly normal. After she graduated in 1953, Jean went to university in London, studying music education.

It was when she was in university that Jean met her future husband, Joseph MacKade. She was quite taken with the Irishman, who was three years older than her. They kept in touch for three years, finally meaning once again in 1960. They married in 1962 in Dublin, Ireland. Jean then got a job as a music teacher in Joseph’s hometown of Mullingar, County Westmeath, Ireland. She adored her career, but was rather less satisfied with her personal life as she struggled to find common ground with many of her neighbors. This began to change in 1965, when her eldest child, David Padraig, was born. Three years later, her daughter, Jennifer was born. Things went well from then on, everything wasn’t perfect but they had enough to get by. 

Jean was thrilled to welcome Clare O’Brien into the family when her son married the woman in 1993. She loved the younger woman dearly and Jean was extremely overjoyed when she met her first grandchildren, Finnian and Nathaniel. It helped to lighten the blow of the death of her husband in 1995, as she had been slowly spiraling. The birth of her grandsons put things back into perspective for Jean, something that was strengthened by the subsequent births of her two younger grandsons, Padraig and Owen. She loved them all dearly, and this included Jennifer’s two children, who weren’t born until 2006. 

What Jean hadn’t counted on was the deaths of her son and daughter-in-law. Jean was left reeling, putting all of her focus into the four grandsons that she now had to raise. She struggled for those first few months, trying to figure out what to do with the money that David and Clare had saved and how to raise four grieving boys. Eventually, she divided her son’s savings into five new accounts, one for each of his sons and one for everyday use. From then on, Jean came out of retirement to make up the difference by working as a substitute music teacher and a waitress. She loved her grandsons and always felt like she was dropping the ball in some way with them. Jean would live until the age of 93, passing away peacefully in her sleep.

Finn generally has a good relationship with his grandmother. He loves her dearly and has always had a good relationship with her. However, some of Finn’s unconscious resentment at the world ends up being directed at his grandmother. He hates doing it, but sometimes he cannot stop and is always looking for ways to redirect those feelings. He also helps to make sure that the house is running smoothly, especially as he gets older and starts to understand things better.

Childhood: 

Born on December 30, 1996 at 11:55 am, Finn is the firstborn son of Clare and David MacKade. His twin brother, Nathaniel Brian MacKade joined him twelve minutes later, at 12:07 pm. Three years later, Finn gained a younger brother, Padraig Darragh, on April 16, 2000. On June 3, 2003, Finn gained a second younger brother, Owen David. Nate had a good childhood and, for seven years, it was stable. He grew up in a decently sized house in Mullingar, his father’s childhood hometown. However, things began to change when his mother was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor. Everything slowly began to change as the diagnosis shocked the entire MacKade family. They held together the best they could. Nate and his brothers were shielded from some of the worst aspects, but David could only hide so much. Eventually, though, the brain tumor turned terminal and in late 2004, Clare passed away. Thankfully, it had been a peaceful passing in her sleep and in her own home. 

The death of his mother rattled the entire MacKade family and it felt like everything was changing. A few months after Clare’s passing, the family moved into a smaller home in order to save money as they were down one income. It was a tough adjustment for Finn and Nate, who went from sharing a large and spacious bedroom with two twin beds to a much smaller bedroom with bunk beds. For a few months, it strained their relationship, until David sat the boys down and explained to them that they didn’t need to love it but they had to tolerate it. His speech worked and the brothers eventually worked out a truce. Things moved smoothly from that moment on, but tragedy was looming closer and closer. One summer night in 2006, Finn and Nate found their father’s body in the living room and David MacKade was eventually declared dead. 

After the death of his father, Finn and his brothers were taken in by their grandmother which saw their third move in nearly as many years. They moved into their father’s childhood home, with Finn and Nate sharing his childhood bedroom and their younger brothers sharing their aunt’s childhood bedroom. After their grandmother noticed their struggles, she enrolled Finn and his brothers in a local counseling program. Finn struggled to connect with therapy, though, only finding a short mediation at night to be helpful.     Things also started to change when, on his eleventh birthday, Finn received a letter and a visit informing him that he and Nate were wizards and suddenly some of the strange things that had seemed to follow him everywhere began to make sense. 

Hogwarts Years:

Upon starting Hogwarts, Finn was sorted into Ravenclaw. He was both shocked and surprisingly relieved to be in a different house than his brother. Finn was at home in Ravenclaw, even though he remained kind of stand-offish throughout his time at Hogwarts. He made friends and now that they didn’t live on top of one another 24/7, his relationship with his brothers strengthened. His passion for photography also continued to grow, especially once he learned how to enchant his photos. In his fourth year, he made the Ravenclaw quidditch team, earning the position of chaser. He also met his future wife, Scotty Rosier, during his time at Hogwarts as well, even though Finn remained oblivious to the true nature of his feelings until their seventh year.

Adulthood:

After graduating from Hogwarts, Finn got a job as a photographer for the Daily Prophet. He photographed a lot of different events, though his favorite were always quidditch matches. However, he was not the biggest fan of working for the Daily Prophet. He thought that they had too many rules and were too strict about the type of photographs they accepted. Thus, at the age of 40 and with a nice financial cushion, Finn moved into freelancing. He was much happier in freelancing.

In addition, after graduating, Finn moved back to Mullingar with his twin brother in order to help support their grandmother with their younger brothers. Finn found it to be quite the challenge, but that it was the most rewarding thing in his life at that moment. He struggled with it though, and the frustrating resentment that had grown. Most of his resentment was simply at the world. 

Finn married Scotty in 2026. Their first child, Flora Jean, was born on October 27, 2028. Their second child, Ian David, was born on May 18, 2030. 

Old Age:

Due to his freelance work, Finn never officially retired but he slowed down after he reached the age of 100. He continued to take on clients, though, and focused a lot of time on his own photography. He entered contests and found that his work was being submitted into galleries. In addition, Finn also spent a lot of time with his family and doing things that he wanted to.

Death: 

Finn passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 137. He had lived a long and fulfilled life, leaving behind two children, five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Finn is rarely seen without a camera. He has multiple cameras, as well. He’s got a small one that can fit into his bag. There’s the big, fancy one that he lugs out for certain occasions such as sunsets. There’s the cheap one that he takes when the conditions could be a little treacherous for a camera.

Finn does not like cooking. It’s a chore to him. He does enjoy making sandwiches, though.

When he was younger, Finn could never settle on one career. He wanted to be everything from a pro-footballer to a firefighter to an astronaut. It wasn’t until his grandmother gave him a camera for his ninth birthday that his interest in photography grew and was cultivated. 

Finn’s paternal great-great-great-grandparents were both squibs. They took one half of his surname and one half of her surname to create the surname MacKade.

About Jonah: As the older twin, Jonah is the quietest of the three MacKade siblings. He’s got a generally good relationship with his older brother and twin sister. However, he is easily annoyed by Wyatt’s teasings and Zoey’s headstrong tendencies. He’s closest to his twin sister, though, even when he wishes she would stop trying to protect him and let him handle things for himself. He also has a good relationship with both his parents, with a slightly closer relationship with his father than his mother. In addition, he has a close relationship with his cousin, Ian.

Upon starting Hogwarts, Jonah was sorted into Hufflepuff. He joined the quidditch team in his second year as a keeper but in his fourth year, he switched positions to play seeker. He enjoyed spending time at Hogwarts and he really enjoyed playing quidditch. In addition, Jonah’s favorite subject was history of magic, something that he had in common with his father.

About Flora: As the eldest, Flora is very much her father’s daughter, although she’s got a lot of her mother’s temperament. She’s got a generally good relationship with her younger brother, Ian, and is closer to her cousin, Zoey. In addition, she has a good relationship with both of her parents, although she is a bit closer to her mother than she is to her father. In some ways, the similarities between Flora and Finn make it hard for the two of them to get along pretty well.

Upon starting Hogwarts, Flora was sorted into Ravenclaw. However, Flora was a hatstall between Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff. In her third year, Flora quickly made the Ravenclaw quidditch team in the position of chaser. She fell in love with the sport, and began exploring muggle sports like hurling and  Gaelic football. In addition, Flora was made team captain in her sixth year. 

After graduating from Hogwarts, Flora decided to go professionally and started her career playing for the Kenmare Kestrels. She also went on to play for the Montrose Magpies before becoming a philanthropist.

About Ian: As the youngest, Ian takes after his mother more so than his father, although he has Finn’s temperament. He‘s generally got a good relationship with his sister, although he’s closer to his cousin, Jonah. In addition, he has a good relationship with both of his parents, although he’s a bit closer to his father. He’s also got a good relationship with all of his dad’s brothers, being closest to his Uncle Owen. 

Upon starting Hogwarts, Ian was sorted into Gryffindor after a six-minute hatstall between Gryffindor and Ravenclaw. He took a bit of time to grow comfortable at Hogwarts, but it was helped that his sister and cousins were also at Hogwarts too. In his fourth year, Ian joined the Gryffindor quidditch team in the position of keeper. In the fifth year, Ian was named prefect. In addition, Ian began discovering a passion for photography in his fifth year after his father gifted him a camera as a Christmas gift. However, he never wanted photography to be a career. 

After graduating from Hogwarts, Ian went on to become a broom-maker.

About Jem: As the eldest child, Jem is a good combination of his parents’ personalities. He takes after his mother a bit more so than his father, but in general, his personality is a good combination of his parents’. He has a good relationship with both of them, but is closer to his paternal grandfather, Granda Barnaby. Granda Barnaby helped to foster Jem’s love of creatures and animals by allowing him to help out at the O’Donnell-Lee Creature Reserve and Rehab Center with the harmless creatures. In addition, Jem is also close with his little sister.

Upon starting Hogwarts, Jem was quickly sorted into Ravenclaw, following in the steps of his aunt Violet, great-uncle Conor, and great-aunt Ruth. He found himself at home in Ravenclaw quite quickly. He adored his time at Hogwarts, which helped to foster many different interests. He joined Ravenclaw’s quidditch team in his fifth year as a beater and joined the magical creatures club in his third year. His love for magical creatures grew with each subsequent care of magical creatures class. 

After graduating from Hogwarts, Jem became a magiozoologist. He studied the field under the guidance of the non-familial members of the O’Donnell-Lee Creature Reserve and Rehab Center. Eventually, Jem inherited the center, after his aunt Dora retired.

Jem shares his middle name, Michael, with his great-uncle Ryan, his great-grandfather, Seán, his great-great-great-great uncle, and his father’s cousin (Ryan’s son). His greatx4 uncle and his father’s cousin both have Michael as their first name, while Great-Uncle Ryan and Great-Granda Seán have Michael as their middle name. 

Fun fact! Jem was Declan’s original name. In his first iteration, Declan was named James Ryan “Jem” O’Donnell-Lee. Naming Declan’s son, Jem, was a fun nod to that.

Day Four: Mother's Daughter (Talk about a female fankid that you love) of @endlessly-cursed’s HP women appreciation week

Lucretia “Lucy” and Matilda “Mattie” Devlin → Two of William Devlin and Josie Edwards’s (@slytherindisaster) three daughters, Lucy and Mattie each take after one of their parents. Lucy has her mother’s passion for nature and creatures, while Mattie has her father’s creativity but channels it into both piano and painting. Both girls also have their parents’ reserved natures (Mattie is more outgoing, though) and are both twins. Lucy is an identical twin, while Mattie is a fraternal twin.

Catherine “Kate” O’Neill → One of Rory O’Neill and Ethel Malinda’s (@gaygryffindorgal) twin daughters, Kate is her father’s daughter. She’s quite similar in personality to him, without all the trauma. She’s passionate about quidditch, but has never loved playing the sport and instead follows her mother’s footsteps into journalism, focusing on writing about quidditch.

Theodora “Dora” O’Donnell-Lee → The eldest daughter of Sara O’Donnell and Barnaby Lee, Dora is her mother’s daughter coupled with her father’s passion for creatures. Perhaps one of the first fankids I have, Dora has had many different iterations over the past few years. She’s always remained soft and passionate about animals. She is the eldest of the O’Donnell cousins, having three younger siblings and six younger cousins. Dora can be quite protective of her younger siblings and cousins.

Flora MacKade → The only daughter of Finn MacKade and Scotty Rosier (@drinkyoursoupbitch), Flora is the second eldest MacKade cousin. She’s a fascinating combination of her mother and father and my only female character who goes on to play quidditch professionally. Flora is plays chaser on her quidditch teams and often keeps an eye on her younger brother and cousins.

About Zoey:

Zoey is 12 minutes younger than her twin Jonah although this doesn’t stop her from acting like she’s the big sister. Zoey has always been headstrong and determined to chase her dreams. She loves painting and movies, and her favourite subjects at Hogwarts are Charms and Astronomy.

Zoey is more outgoing than Jonah but takes things more seriously than their eldest brother Wyatt. She often gets into arguments with Wyatt because of his inability to take anything seriously. Zoey is protective of Jonah because she has a more assertive nature and she feels like she needs to stand up for him. Jonah doesn’t always share the same sentiment though.

Tadhg was mostly surprised by this. Theo has always been a bit of a free spirit and he’s not expecting her to “settle down.” He’s also wondering if she knows what she’s getting herself into, as by that point, he and Niamh at least have Aisling. He’s supportive, though, especially when he sees how serious Theo is about doing right by this little girl.

What was Niamh’s first impression of Theo?

Niamh’s first impression of Theo was definitely influenced by the stories and things that she witnessed while they were at Hogwarts. Theo left the impression of someone who was pretty fearless, didn’t care about what other people thought, a prankster, and someone who was just generally a free and energetic spirit. Niamh didn’t really think deeper than that until she had gotten to know Theo better.

How do Tadhg and Niamh’s kids feel about Josie?

Aisling definitely sees Josie as like a little cousin, someone that she cares about but isn’t the closest to. I feel like she and Josie have similar vibes and that they would probably form a close relationship as adults, especially after Aisling’s years of travel. Saoirse sees Josie as a cool older cousin, as if I’m remembering correctly Josie’s older than the twins. She likes Josie, even if they don’t have too much in common. Oscar also sees Josie as a cool older cousin, but given that he’s more reticent than either of his sisters, he doesn’t show it quite as often.

What are Finn and Nate MacKade’s main goals?

Finn and Nate’s main goal is to keep their family together. Luckily, it’s not that difficult but after losing their parents and seeing how hard their grandmother works, they want to make sure that everyone stays together. Finn’s main personal goal is to develop his photography skills and his passion for it. Nate’s main personal goal is to just learn. He wants to learn a lot of things, especially when it comes to history.

How would Luke react to Cassie just dropping "yeah Neville Longbottom's my uncle" at some point in their early friendship?

Luke wouldn’t really be that fazed. After all, his great-grandfather was the last earl of Wexford and his father’s maternal side was the Kennedy politicians. He’s used to some impressive names and such. In addition, Luke’s probably not overly aware of the second wizarding war celebrity. The shock would probably be because Neville would be their professor, less so because of the hero nature awarded to Neville.
