Cuddly & Soft

So~ I wrote a thing. It is based on this post here. So it is silly and soft, and involves big cats, Tony being a little shit, Loki being a good boyfriend, some bot-love, and shapeshifting. It very possibly is crack but honestly Idk, it’s just a fun little thing I wrote because I was stuck on another story and was bored.

Anyway, enjoy! Hope you’ll like it!

Loki walked into the lab with a cup of coffee and a cinnamon roll he had gotten for Tony at the coffee shop down the street from Avengers Tower– Tony loved that place and he had been huddled up in his lap for over twenty-four hours now, if it weren't for Loki coming in every once in a while and make him eat or drink something, or take a much needed break, Tony would've collapsed already. Loki didn't particularly like it when Tony pulled these lab binges, but he couldn't exactly lecture him because he was the same, only he huddled up in the library and forgot to eat or sleep as well. So Loki didn't stop Tony, he just made sure that he ate and drank and at least sometimes took a break, and Tony always let himself be convinced, even if rather reluctantly– Loki just had the better arguments.

The lab was filled with loud music blasting from the speakers in the ceiling, some rock song that Loki didn't know, which wasn't exactly a surprise because he hadn't yet let Tony introduce him to Midgardian music in detail. He did enjoy most of what Tony played in his lab though, so that was a start, right?

Anyway, Tony was sitting at one of his workstations, only in jeans and a black tank top, with his weird working goggles on. Loki was sure there was a proper name for them but if Tony had ever told him, he couldn't remember. Loki had to stop and take a deep breath to calm himself because he really loved that look on Tony, and he loved watching him work too, especially when it showed off his fine muscles…

Loki shook his head, that wasn't why he was here, but could he really be blamed? Sometimes he thought Tony did it on purpose because he knew full well what effect it had on Loki. Tony was a very handsome man and Loki wasn't above admitting that his brain momentarily crashed when he saw Tony like that, but he could control himself, most of the times at least.

Never mind.

As Loki got closer to Tony though, he noticed that the man wasn't actually working. His goggles were on his head and he was looking at a screen.

"Hey, what are you doing?" Loki asked, placing the coffee in front of Tony. Now that he got a good look at the screen, he realized that Tony was looking at a picture of… a cat? Okay, a big cat, but still a cat nonetheless.

Tony took a sip from the coffee and sighed happily. "Taking a break?"

"You are?" Loki gasped. "And I didn't have to remind you? Wonders never cease!"

Tony rolled his eyes and smiled up at him. "Very funny." Another sip of coffee. "I hit a dead-end and it frustrated me, so before I throw the whole thing at the wall and make DUM-E's day because he has to use the fire extinguisher, I thought I'd just step away from it for a bit."

"That's not very nice towards DUM-E though, you know how much he loves using the fire extinguisher," Loki pointed out, looking over to the bot who had his claw dropped. "You should make his day, a happy bot is a good bot."

"Sometimes I get the feeling you love DUM-E more than me," Tony mused, grinning up at Loki.

Loki laughed and put the cinnamon roll down on the empty plate that was still on the workstation since he had last come down here. "I don't, don't worry. I just think he deserves more recognition, and appreciation. He's trying his best."

"I appreciate him." Tony pulled Loki down into a soft kiss. "Have I ever told you how much I love it that you treat them as persons and not some emotionless machines? You're the only. You don't call them 'it' either."

"As far as I'm concerned, they have personality, and that justifies treating them thusly."

Tony kissed him again. "Anyway, trust me, DUM-E will get his chance. I often set things on fire."

"That you do, my dear."

Tony rolled his eyes but chuckled. "I love you too, Loki."

Loki chuckled and pressed a kiss to Tony's head. "Anyway, what exactly are you doing now?"

"Looking at pictures of big cats."

"Okay," Loki drawled. "Why?"

Tony smiled softly at the picture of a huge black cat on the screen and there was childish delight in his eyes, like he had just witnessed some kind of wonder.

"I like big cats," he eventually explained. "Like lions and tigers and panthers. They look so cuddly and soft."

Loki raised an eyebrow at him. "Like the ones that'll eat your face off?"

Tony's head whipped around and he stared at Loki. "IT WOULD'VE BEEN OUT OF LOVE!"

Loki backed away a bit and regarded Tony with a calculating, surprised glance. The man's face was soft and he was still smiling, like a little child, and honestly, Loki had never seen him like that. He had seen him inexplicably excited and even giddy, but this was different, Loki just couldn't tell exactly how.

Tony turned back to the screen, switching to a picture of a sleeping big cat, displaying a huge paw that could probably cover Tony's entire face.

"They have big toe beans," he muttered, clearly more to himself than to Loki. "They're like little toe beans, but big."

Okay, Loki could admit that the cat on the screen looked quite beautiful, the sleek black fur with faint spots. But his focus wasn't on the picture, it was on Tony and the sheer childish glow of his face, the soft look in his eyes, and the tiny smile. Loki couldn't exactly understand why Tony looked at a picture of a cat like that, but he found that he liked that look on him.

At least until Tony looked up at him grinning and with a rather mischievous gleam in his eyes.

"Loki," he drawled and cocked his head a little. "You're a shapeshifter, aren't you?"

Loki's eyes widened and he raised a hand. "No, don't even think about it, Anthony."

"Aw c'mon! Please!"

"No, I'm not turning into a cat for you."

For a very short moment, Tony pouted, then he got up and backed Loki up against a table, trailing his collarbone with a finger, smiling at him tenderly before he kissed his jaw.

"Please, honey," he whispered against Loki's jaw, his hand resting on Loki's chest.

Loki tried not to react, he wouldn't give in, no nope, he wouldn't– but it was really difficult to resist Tony like this. He loved this, under different circumstances, he really did, but now it was just evil.

"Please, Lokes," Tony drawled. "For me?"

"Why?" Loki managed to ask, but it was in a very breathy tone.

Tony pulled away and Loki wasn't sure if he should be glad or disappointed about it. Some part of him practically screamed at him to not let Tony stop, but it wasn't his brain and so he didn't listen to it.

"Well, the chances of me ever coming face to face with a panther or any big cat are slim," he explained and crossed his arms over his chest. "Plus, I wouldn't risk having my beautiful face eaten off, as you so elegantly put it."

Loki took a deep breath, calming himself and then considered Tony for a moment. The pleading look in his wonderful brown eyes got to Loki, of course it did. Pepper called them 'puppy dog eyes' and now he understood why. How could he possibly resist this? It was already hard to resist Tony when he wasn't looking at him like that, Loki just wished that it was in a different context, a much more fun context– preferably involving him and Tony in bed, or on a couch, naked, but certainly not him turning into a cat to satisfy his boyfriend's curiosity.

On the other hand, seeing the childlike glee on Tony's face would most likely be worth it.

"Fine," he eventually sighed.

Tony squealed in delight and wrapped his arms around Loki, pressing a rather hard kiss to his lips– not that Loki was bothered by the force, mind you.

"You're lucky I love you," Loki mumbled as he straightened his posture and then walked over to the screen to look at the picture of the cat.

Tony chuckled. "I feel incredibly lucky, yes."

Loki rolled his eyes and took a few steps back from the workstation, Tony was eyeing him with curiosity and anticipation. Loki smiled slightly– yeah, it was worth it, that was a very nice look on the man, and so, in a matter of seconds, he shifted into the form of a panther, complete with faint spots and big toe beans and whiskers.

Tony squealed and approached Loki carefully, holding out a hand, even though he knew Loki would never hurt him. Loki lifted a paw and put it on his lover's hand, making a sound that could be interpreted as a happy growl.

"Wow, it's quite heavy," Tony observed, childlike wonder once again shining in his eyes as he inspected the paw. "Ooh, those toe beans!"

Loki rolled his eyes and nudged Tony's hand with his nose, before he lay down and rested his head on the man's thigh, closing his eyes. Tony smiled and started stroking the big cat's head, occasionally scratching him behind the ears.

"You do like this," Tony observed grinning.

As an answer, he received a growl, it didn't sound threatening or warning, actually it sounded quite soft and content. Tony chuckled and continued petting his currently feline boyfriend. The fur was actually quite soft and Tony gushed over the faint spots in it. Everything about this was great and he loved Loki even more now, if that was even possible.

For a long time, they just stayed on the floor of the lab, Tony kneeling and Loki lying in front of him with his head on his thighs. Tony enjoyed stroking the fur, earning growls of approval from Loki, which could be interpreted as purring.

After a while, Loki sat back up and tilted his head, before he raised a paw and put it flat on Tony's face.

Tony frowned. "What are you doing?" he asked, muffled by the panther paw.

Loki growled softly and removed his paw from Tony's face, just to close the distance between Tony and him and run his long, rough tongue over his face. Tony grimaced but also chuckled. It felt funny, a bit gross, but mostly funny.

"Yeah, you're enjoying this way too much for having been so reluctant about shifting," Tony said and scratched Loki under his chin.

Loki growled and lay back down, this time on his side, his head resting in Tony's lap. Tony smiled down at him and kept on petting him tenderly, just like he would caress Loki's skin when they were cuddling, or doing other stuff, y'know. Loki clearly seemed to enjoy it, judging by the soft rumble coming from his throat and his eyes being closed.

Tony knew that they could probably scare the ever-loving fuck out of the other Avengers, but for now he just wanted to enjoy this, his Panther-Loki. Tony loved it when Loki shapeshifted, or did any magic, for that matter. It was still a quite wild, surreal concept for him, the existence of magic and the Norse Gods and all that, but he liked it. Wrong, he liked to have Loki in his life, the endless joy this man brought him every day they were together was something Tony had never experienced before and he loved it, every moment of it.

Suddenly, Loki moved and got back up, Tony looked at him confused. Loki licked his hand and then carefully closed his jaw around it, pulling Tony along with him as he made his way over to the couch Tony had put in the corner of the workshop upon Loki's insistence. Tony smiled and followed willingly.

Loki let go of his hand, making sure he didn't accidentally hurt him with his fangs, and licked it for good measure, before he jumped onto the couch and sprawled out there. Tony chuckled and, from the look Loki was giving him, he knew exactly what was expected of him, so he lay down next to Loki, resting his head on his flank. Loki licked his hair, which made Tony giggle, and then rested his head on the couch, closing his eyes.

Even in the form of a panther, Loki still succeeded in convincing him to take a break, take a nap, which, okay, he kind of needed after being up for over twenty-four hours. And this was nice, weird but nice, he could feel Loki's slow, calm breathing and heartbeat, which he loved listening to under normal circumstances anyway. So Tony closed his eyes as well, turning to lay on his side, and rested a hand on Loki's paw.

It didn't take long for both of them to be asleep. Meanwhile, JARVIS had documented the whole thing, as it was something to keep as a memory, Tony cuddling with a panther on the couch in his workshop.

This is all speculation on my part, but its important to note that you should always ask yourself why someone might have said or done something. Even if the answer is incorrect or you dont agree with it, you might find yourself disagreeing with your most impulsive reactions and taking a calmer approach to the situation.

1) “if you’re not jewish you dont get to say “jew” period“ As we know now, the original sentiment here was “referring to people as a demographic they fit can be offensive and reductive, so instead use their demographic as an adjective (jewish) instead of a noun (jew).” so with that in hand we can clearly see that this is really just someone who’s tired of being called “a jew” in the same way that I am offended when someone calls me “a queer” without knowing if I’m okay with it. Most of the discussion around jewish people is hurtful and

2&3) “holocaust, hitler, and nazi jokes aren’t funny period“ and “seriously quit saying “grammar nazi”“ keeping in mind that this was a post made in 2014/2015 think about the climate back then. This was back when it wasnt socially acceptable to be an out and out nazi/white nationalist/identitarian/kekistan or whatever the fuck, and a lot of the ways people were saying something was bad or irritating was by calling it a nazi. Both groups actually contributed to making nazis seem less like the horrific thing that they were: a political party that advocated for the genocide of millions. This would be incredibly frustrating to watch, to have people invalidate and joke about the reason your people are less than 1% of the world’s population.

4&5) “also when the subject of the holocaust or hitler happen to come up DONT TRY TO SAY THAT HITLER WAS DOING WHAT WAS BEST FOR HIS COUNTRY OR THAT HE WAS HUMAN” “SERIOUSLY HE WAS A MASS MURDERER AND DISGUSTING IN EVERY SENSE OF THE WORD” No controversy around this one, please see my original reply to get my full response to this. But its good to again note why this sort of thing would be prompted to be said at all. One of the common ways people try to make white nationalism/nazi ideology more tolerable is by trying to paint Adolf Hitler as a sympathetic figure. This of course doesnt excuse what he did, but imagine seeing people say “hitler wasnt that bad” “Hitler was only a human being” “hiter was just trying to do what was best for his people.” over and over again. It would be upsetting because of fuckin course it would be. Hell its STILL upsetting.

6&7) “dont make jokes about us being penny pinchers or greedy or any of that its gross and racist“ and “if youre a goyim dont tell me that “_____ was a very jew thing for me to do”“ I feel like being upset with stereotypes and reacting aggressively is super understandable, especially as a kid in their mid teens. I dont think this really needs further elaboration. Its insensitive and shitty, and makes someone feel bad for doing a “jewish thing” because they feel like behaving like how they are you’re buying into stereotypes. I relate to this specifically when I perform a behavior associated with my stereotypes, such as liking pink (i’m dfab*). My example is really toned down, but i think its a good way to relate because all of us have some dumb stereotype that we can relate to just being like “fuck i cant do x because i might reinforce preconceived notions.

8) “dont use yiddish, goy always mispronounce it and tbh it sounds stupid when you try“ Okay, its really important that i stress here again that OP does NOT agree with this statement anymore. To quote them directly, “i realize now that yiddish should be shared with all. Its not just a Jewish thing anymore“. However its still important to think of why would someone say something like this in the first place. This is where I speculate the most. I personally believe OP said this because yiddish is a part of their culture that they treasured at the time (likely still do) and while they were upset at people speaking it poorly it wasnt just because people were speaking it poorly. They were upset because of everything else in this post. The erasure of their history and the lessening of the severity of what happened to the jewish people through nazi jokes. The cruelty of having your identity stripped away from you beyond just another “jew”. The people sympathizing with Adolf Fuckin Hitler and trying to make him less repulsive and more “understandable” (read: forgivable). People using stereotypes to define your actions as something that “a jew” would do. The mockery of traditions and holidays “because they’re different.” These things are cruel, and when you hold something close to your heart and its attacked, as a child you will usually either react with anger and lash out to defend it, or shrink away from it and be ashamed. I wouldnt even be surprised if OP had at one point been ashamed of their heritage, only to have this post be the result of deciding to be proud of it and shifting far over to the other end of the spectrum past “happy and proud” to “aggressive defense”.

I feel like i covered points nine to eleven pretty well in #8, but here they are for posterity

• dont call our traditions weird just cause theyre different • be aware that jewish holidays dont get the same respect from society as christian ones do • seriously our holidays are almost never seen as “a legit reason” to miss work/school

Then finally is 12) “Educate yourself.” I hope all of you leave this post feeling a little more like you understand what happened here, and more so i hope you have the tools to take a step back from snap judgments and ask yourself whats really going on. What someone really meant. Its not always what it seems at face value! d(･∀･ ´*)

Good timing with This character too as i just continued my rewatch of this show in season 8 yesterday after taking a break to see all of the new seasons of Prison Break and Shameless. 1: sexuality headcanon - This is a complicated one for me. Reading fanfiction about criminal minds it makes me pretty uncomfortable when any of the characters are shown explicitly having sex, or even really… interested in it at all; my sex-aversion is just wierdly strong with this fandom. I find it easier to imagine him as solely attracted to women than at all to men, so any suggestion that he’s not heterosexual because he’s bi just feels. Incorrect? to me. But I do, on occasion, find it fun to think of him as being sexually attracted to Dave Rossi. In a really really abstract, I don’t want to read fics about it but I can enjoy moments that tease at that on the show. Like… the beginning of episode 8x02 when, in canon, Garcia calls Rossi’s Altruism sexy as Hotch walks in and says yes it is. I mean. Honestly I’m just more used to straight as default is all it is. He could be some degree bi, I don’t think I’m really against that. Lol idk. I do really really like a demisexual Hotch headcanon and have for years now I think. Demisexuality needs still the specification of if it’s restricted to a gender or not. I lean towards probably heterosexual demisexual but maybe when the mood strikes I think David Rossi is the only man he’s ever been attracted to. And I don’t exactly think he’s had a *ton* of women he feels that way about.

2: otp - definitely a complicated close call between queerplatonic shipping of Rossi&Hotch and me feeling weirdly strong feelings for Hotch/JJ (Jotch) which I had zero of the first time I watched the show but this time around I take notes and I just love their dynamic and believe they’re attracted to each other. Rossi & Hotch have more scenes that are emotionally intense in canon, are easier to ship in the fandom context, etc but I like them more platonically (platonic commitment-ly?)So for a definitely romantic and sexual type of OTP for him, I currently lean more towards JJ. Tbh I prefer platonic bonds on this series though.

3: brotp - as I said in my Arrow answers I’m not a fan of this term although the more all of fandom uses it, the more I’m worn down and i don’t hate it the way i once did i guess. It still feels really weird to me as encompassing of all platonic bonds, even between women? Even when “bro” would be the last thing out of either character’s mouth? Etc.

Ok so my answer. Well I’ve already said I adore Hotch&Rossi in a queerplatonic way actually as like my OTP. I love all of Hotch’s relationships so much… this is tough. Probably BroTP is Garcia&Hotch because he appreciates her in a really unique way, she calls him Sir, they have such clashing personalities and yet they both are some of the most sensitive and most aware of everyone else at all times. Their moments I’ve been collecting notes on as well for future potential vidding. (And btw yes I take notes on Rossi&Hotch scenes and other things, too)

4: notp - As i said when i answered for Arrow, I like this term more. Hmm. I’m not 100% sure I have a hard NOTP for him in terms of ships I’ve actually heard of people shipping. I’m pretty uncomfortable with any of his ships being sexual but a good fic could probably convince me. The biggest NOTP I can think of off the top of my head might be Foyett/Hotch lol but now I am tempted to see what kind of fic is out there out of like morbid curiosity for crack-fic level something or I don’t even know. I prefer a lot of ships not be shipped but I don’t have a particular NOTP right now.

5: first headcanon that pops into my head - that the only person on the show who knows about the trauma in his childhood (an elaborate sub-headcanon I’ve made up) is David Rossi although the other profilers suspect lots of the pieces. Even Haley knew less of the details than Rossi.

6: favorite line from this character - like with Oliver… Not really something I have memorized lol.I do remember really liking Hitch at the end of 4x17… Morgan and Rossi are on opposite sides and then they bring Hotch into it. M: “Rossi, don’t tell me you believe in evil.”R: “Don’t tell me you do this job and you don’t.”M: “I believe there are evil acts, but those are choices, brain chemistry. What do you think, Hotch?”H: “I think deep down, we’re all capable of unspeakable things. Where it starts, or what you call it, I don’t know.”I don’t really have a specific favorite quote… that just was the first one that came to my mind. 7: one way in which I relate to this character - idk, his introversion is much more extreme than my current self, he’s very different from me overall, but maybe I’m a petty good leader, in certain circumstances as is he? Or maybe a better example is he likes children and I do too.

8: thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character - um… Idk. This is a pretty tough one. The actor publicly being fired kinda outshines any embarrassment the character went through. I’m embarrassed for him I guess when Dave teases him about Beth…

9: cinnamon roll or problematic fave? - i think i have to go with cinnamon roll?

1. Strawberry Moans Sanctuary, Helen Magnus/Kate Freelander, Explicit, 3500+ (CW: D/s kink, semi-public sex, exhibitionism/voyeurism, Course language)

This was the first proper fic I ever wrote—where I was legit proud of the work itself rather than just the fact that I’d written it and it was done—so it will always be super special to me. Also, it’s pretty good.

2. Time Heals All Manner of Wounds The Thick of It, Nicola Murray/Malcolm Tucker, Mature, 13k+ (CW: Course language, Physical Assault in the Workplace)

Back when most the longest things I’d ever written was still less than 4k and most of my fics were >2000 words, I sat down with the prompt one afternoon to brainstorm, started typing and four days later I looked up to find a completed post-canon slow-burn 3x longer than anything I’d ever written. Until recently the only that that had ever rivalled it was my honours thesis, so I’m super proud of this and also it’s pretty good.

3. blood red shiraz will wash through these slate grey streets, Holby City, Bernie Wolfe/Serena Campbell, Explicit, 26k+ (CW: Graphic Depictions of Violence [specifically male aggression towards women], Descriptions of Dead Bodies+Body Horror, Implied Domestic Abuse, Implied Homophobia, Gore/Blood+Blades. Epilogue: Explicit Sexual Content, Fisting, Vaginal Ejaculation, Kid!fic)

This is my longest completed work and also the weirdest thing I’ve ever written. Like, me, writing a noir-esque rapid-fire get together with no smut? Then adding baby!fic?!?! set on the Left Bank of France, in a ‘30s where the war never happened??? Sounds fake but okay bc that’s def a thing that happened. And it’s good shizz, tbh.

(Also, this was also the first creative project I’d worked on since undergrad. I’d spent the previous two years producing pretty much solely academic work, and the past three years only ever reading fiction for research purposes. So coming back to prose fiction after finally starting my PhD, the six months of playing videogames before that, and the year before that spent analysing lesbian modernism and women’s writing (w month or two of research into hard-boiled noir fiction thrown in on the side) was a really interesting experience.

I know that my writing in general is still developing, esp as I figure out how to write with my nerurodiversity, but I can tell the pattens I developed in this fic are going to impact my write for a long time and possibly even forever.)

4. I’m listing as tie between I want to open my hands to comfort you, Doctor Who/UNIT Big Finish Audios, Kate Stewart/Petronella Osgood, Teen, 3500+ (CW: social anxiety, verbal confrontation + resulting panic) and Realisations, Bernie Wolfe/Serena Campbell, Teen, 2500+ words (CW: Implied homophobia) bc when I started writing both of these works I thought they’d be like, at most, 500 words each. That was an incorrect assumption. Not only that, neither of them are smutty and they are both full of feelings and I’m really pleased with both of them for similar reasons, so it makes sense to list them both.

5. the remains of your kiss linger on my lips, Holby City, Bernie Wolfe/Serena Campbell, Explicit, 6k+ (CW: Explicit Sexual Content, Masturbation)

So I started this piece to work on my dialogue skills and roll back on the block prose (lmao that did not happen). In the process of writing I decided to let go of my academic inclination to never use contractions outside of speech/quotes and it changed the vibe of the prose entirely and I really like it.
