The fact that, even in Mac's fantasy of saving the day, he imagines screwing up and getting killed pains me. That man's self-concept is a mess. The version of himself he imagines is more in line with the action stars he idolizes and yet is unable to keep people safe, in one case being directly responsible for a death. This is the same man who is deeply anxious about safety ("I kept everybody safe! Safe!," the sunglasses thing). Just, how warped is his own self image that he doesn't imagine succeeding at that?
This whole thing is capped off by the "happy ending" of the fantasy being... dying and going to Heaven where he will join God in "ignor[ing] everyone's prayers." There's a whole thing to unpack there regarding the way Christian fundamentalism simultaneously idolizes and downplays dying. There's a whole other thing to unpack regarding trauma and feelings of hopelessness, including the implication that Mac is pleading with God in vain outside the fantasy. The best thing he can imagine is being dead, and that is so sad to me if I think about it for more than 30 seconds.

Funny how in Dennis’s fantasy during The Gang Saves the Day (the one where the gas station gets robbed) he envisions being taken care of in his most helpless state. Something that Mac always does for him. It speaks volumes that he wants to be nursed back to health (and this actually shows up later in the show when he lets Mac poison him and pamper him).
Except in his fantasy it’s the news lady with the big tits doing it, because she is the ideal women a straight man would desire. But as soon as the time comes for him to “confess his love” to her, or has to take care of her, he kills her off. Because no matter how much he wants to deny it, being in a long term relationship with an attractive women is NOT his ideal life. It also shows he doesn’t feel like he can take on the responsibility of taking care of someone & that’s why he is so resistant to macs affection- he doesn’t know how to return it.
All stuff we already know abt Dennis but I haven’t seen ppl bringing up the evidence from this specific episode.

in Mac, Frank, and Charlie's fantasies in saves the day, they each either hear or see Dee die, but in Dennis', she's just gone. never specified that she died, she's just gone. Dee doesn't visit him in the hospital, and then the guys leave him. initially i took this as Dennis did fantasize her death but didn't want to see it, but now it feels more like (since he figures the guys would leave him once he's rendered "useless") in his fantasy, Dee abandoned him right from the jump. before he ever got to the hospital. ESPECIALLY considering his desperation for her to stay in 9x1 and her reluctance to do so.

Another day another sobbing and throwing up bc Dennis doesn’t think Dee would visit him in the hospital if he ended up in a life threatening situation

I know it’s been talked about many many times before but Dennis’ fantasy in Saves the Day is so fascinating to me. Everyone else’s fantasies are so straightforward—it would have been easy to just have Dennis get injured and have Jackie nurse him back to health and then they have sex BUT NO. His specific fantasy is that his dick doesn’t work anymore—that he is admired for being strong and capable outside of a sexual context. That someone who he considers extremely attractive would still be attracted to him even if he could never have sex with them (I know you can have sex without a functioning penis but in Dennis’ mind that’s what it means). But in the end, even though he wants to be loved for his drive and personality, he can’t do the same for even a perfect fantasy version of Jackie. Even though he can’t have sex with her, when her main sexual appeal to him (her breasts) gets “obliterated”, he doesn’t think she deserves to live, because he fundamentally doesn’t think a person is worth anything if they aren’t sexy. The end of the fantasy is him reaffirming his world view to himself—that of course no one could care about another person outside of wanting to have sex with them, that no one would ever care about HIM outside of wanting to have sex. In the beginning of his fantasy, The Gang are with him in the hospital, but the moment they find out his dick doesn’t work, they immediately leave because Dennis thinks even they only hang out with him to hear about his sex life and live vicariously through him. The fantasy shows that he’s so hypersexual all the time because he believes deep down to his core that that’s the only thing people would ever like him for, which contributes to him treating other people the same way.

really into the idea of martha and jack on a one-off adventure w/ series 4-era ten. purely for the reason that i found "my angel put the devil in me" on the series 3 soundtrack and i suddenly have the image of martha and jack scream-singing it together in a karaoke bar while ten sits off to the side feeling super uncomfortable and embarrassed

I'm at that part of chapter three my friends, so let me be a reminder that Colm O'Driscoll's plan to lure in Dutch after taking Arthur failed because nobody came looking for him.
He would have died being held captive any longer, he barely escaped.
The gang did not come for Arthur.

I still want to know what Mac was referencing when he daydreamed "I... don't... forgive... you" in "The Gang Saves the Day." Was he pissed at Dennis for something? Is it an action movie reference I don't get? Was he just feeling extra melodramatic?

Chara: "Frisk, who put you in charge of the lights?!" 😠
Kris + Frisk: "..."
~~~
I can't believe I am finally uploading this! ;w;
This was one of the hardest drawings for me in a while to finally get to finish. I don't care that we are in the new year now, this was supposed to originally be uploaded before then, so I am counting this as my December post!... Which means... I have to try to also upload something else for this month! :'D
Moving on... so I decided to re-design and draw Kris again. The last time I had (at least publicly) was in 2018, so it has definitely been some time. I debated whether to show their eyes, and I ended up just going with "yes" cause I liked the energy it added to the art. But man, if I thought just getting the time to finish and finally upload this was hard, let's talk about just sketching the stupid thing. Drawing characters interacting like this is always tricky (for me at least), so I was stuck in the sketching phase for such a long time. Regardless, I finally finished and that is all that matters! Happy (late) Holidays! 🎄
>Please do not re-post or use my work in any way without my permission! Re-blogging is ok. Thanks!<
The Dennis saving the day fantasy is actually so important, he values himself only in sex which is apparent by the way the relationships in his life are only exciting to him when there is sexual innuendo involved, his ideal fantasy was him losing his dick and having someone fall in love with him when he had nothing to offer them sexually (let’s be honest Dennis doesn’t do foreplay) it then reflected the hypocrisy of his mind when she then loses what Dennis views to be a woman’s most important quality (boobs) and he kills her because she is suddenly worthless to him. Just sooo much to unpack there.
Depending on how blonde Ponyboy’s hair got when it was bleached + how light Dally’s hair is do you think they looked similar. Like, you saw them and it’s just assumed they’re related to some degree. Do you think Ponyboy would re-dye his hair blonde because it’s the only thing he really has left of Johnny and Dally
