You’re more amazing than this many really cool frogs!

Wow, that’s a lot of really cool frogs! Also, I have covid (vaccinated and with boosters so I’m not scared of anything serious, just annoying). Anyway here’s a story I typed with my eyes closed because the screen was hurting my eyes

I'm Elian, and sometimes I don't like light. It can be annoying sometimes, especially early in the morning. Even painful. But recently, I've been having a lot of trouble dealing with light. It's gotten to the point where I wish I could just turn off the sun.

This morning, I woke up, and I got my wish.

Everything is pitch black. No matter where I look or how hard I squint, there's abosolutely nothing. I can feel things, the familiar surroundings of my room, my bed, my dresser, my desk, even my windows. I even manage to fumble around for my computer's power button, and not eeven that sheds any light on why I can't see anything.

Then, I hear a voice. "Don't worry, Elian, everything is alright."

his, naturally, makes me panic WAY more. "W-who's there?! What/s going on?!" I swing my arms wildly, trying to fend off the intruder.

"Hey, I just said 'don't worry', did you not hear me? You're worrying far too much."

"Well excuse me, I just went blind today and now there's a burgler in my house!"

"Please, if I were a burgler I would've taken your computer while you were asleep."

"You were WATCHING ME SLEEP!?!"

"I think we've gotten a bit off track. You're supposed to not be worrying. I'm just here to help with your curse."

"I'M CURSED!?!?"

"Worrying, stop it, now. You were cursed to be extremely sensitive to light, and it gets worse over time before you start recovering. I'm a spirit of darkness, and I've filled your entire house with a cloud of pure shadow."

"Okay, sure, I'm cursed, and you're a demon-"

"Spirit."

"And you enchanted my house. How am I supposed to do anything now?"

"with my help, of course. For example, I've made breakfast for you, scrambled eggs and bacon."

"... You know what, screw it, this may as well happen. Where are the eggs?"

"Just sit right there and I'll feed them to you."

"Seriously?"

"Don't worry, I brought a soft plastic fork so you don't poke yourself."

... I shrug. "Sure." I open my mouth, and a few seconds later (and with a "here comes the airplane" as warning), a pretty descent serving of eggs is fed into my mouth. (Descent as in quality, not quantity. I should probably go back and reword that, but I'm blind, you see) The shadow demon ("darkness spirit!") continues to feed me breakfast, eventually getting to some bacon, which is also pretty good.

The rest of the day goes pretty similarly; the spirit ("thank you") helps me with my everyday tasks, being a bit more nanny-ish than I'd like, even getting to the point of carrying me around the house after I tripped once (apparently the feeling of darkness given flesh is rather pleasant, slmost like a pillow). I get used to it, and by the end of the day it's actually pretty nice not having to lift a finger.

II shower and use the bathroom on my own ("you don't have to be shy, I'm not even human" "No! Stay out!")), and in the process I discover just how much I've been relying on the spirit. I keep having to feel around for the shampoo and soap, and just guess wheter I've got enough shampoo squeezed out onto my hand to wash. It's really annoying. After I manage to dress myself, I'm happy to let the spirit back in so they can brush my teeth for me.

Then, it's time to sleep.. The spirit wraps me up in my blanket (did I mention they're surprisingly strong?) and lays me down on my pillow. They give me a pat on the head. See you tomorrow, shout if you need anything."

"Wait, how long exxactly does this curse last?"

""Hard to say, but it's at least a week and likely 2, possibly even 3."

"Well shit., that's a long time to go without video games. You'll tell me when I'm getting better, right?"

"Nah, I think I'll just leave you in suspense. Sweet dreams, Elian!"

**Spoilers**

A Court of Wings and Ruin is the end of the trilogy if you don’t count the add on novel that I am assuming is a bridge to the next series, and finally, war breaks over Prythian. The novel starts not too long after the events of A Court of Mist and Fury, with Feyre back in the Spring Court after the disastrous showdown with King Hybren. Feyre must navigate her way in a Court that is no longer her home and find a way to get back to the Night Court, her sisters, and her found family before Hybren starts his assault on Prythian. I have to say that the pacing in this novel was much better than in Mist and Fury with a number of moving pieces keeping the reader engaged. Yet, I found the ending slightly disappointing in terms of emotional payoff. Don’t get me wrong, I like a happy ending, but there was very little sacrifice to get that ending so it didn’t feel that it was earned. Now I have praised Maas before for letting Feyre make mistakes and have emotions as any individual would have. However, as the series progressed, I felt we saw less and less of this. It might have been deliberate, showing that this experience was maturing Feyre, but it got to the point where she does nothing wrong, and even when she does, it’s instantly forgiven because she is High Lady. Also, I know that this is a romance, but when 85% of Feyre’s thoughts are about Rhysand it was as if she wasn’t her own person anymore. There are no consequences to her actions that don’t somehow end up exactly how she wanted them to be, which became a little annoying. I didn’t have any fear of Feyre surviving or being hurt because things always worked out for her. Even with the Spring Court, the one time that Feyre’s choices came back to have some sort of negative effect, at the end of the day it doesn’t matter. Tamlin is still in love with her and ends up helping her against Hybren and Lucien, who is probably the worst treated by Feyre, goes with her to the Night Court due to Elian being his mate. I guess everything was just so neatly tied up that it didn’t seem realistic to me. Acts should have consequences more than “this could have gone so wrong but it didn’t, yay.” That being said, Tamlin is the definition of a messy bitch in this novel. While there is no condoning his treatment of Feyre, or Lucien, at the end of the day he is not a pure villain. Also, in defense of Lucien, I know a lot of people could point out that he let Tamlin treat Feyre badly and didn’t do enough to help her. I want to remind everyone that this is a man who was abused by his family and his best friend has control and rage issues which he doesn’t have powerful magic to counteract. Living like that for centuries will make anyone a little hesitant to step in when tempers are brewing. I understand Feyre’s anger, both for them aligning with Hybren to get her back like a possession and Lucien not helping her when she needed him the most, but Lucien very early on also acknowledges these mistakes. As Feyre manipulates him, I understand her reasoning, but I feel for Lucien as well. Maas pulls on those feelings from A Court of Thorns and Roses to make the reader both want Feyre to succeed in her machinations, but also find it a bit cruel what she is doing to Lucien. I would have liked for Lucien to decide to come with Feyre because of what Tamlin did and not just to see his mate, but I guess Feyre wouldn’t have believed him without the mating bond. After the time in the Spring Court, it’s as if Maas doesn’t know what to do with Lucien so she just sends him off on a quest and he’s gone for hundreds of pages. The addition of Faebane to the world was needed because, quite frankly, the fact that Feyre has the powers of every High Lord and wields them with efficiency was a bit hard for me to swallow. I know that we saw her train for months to master them, but she seemed to have no weakness, so while a lot can happen in a war, I didn’t really have any fear she would be harmed in one to one combat. The introduction of the faebane took away those powers and forced Feyre to think on her feet, use her physical abilities, and sometimes make deals to get out of sticky situations. While it was negated for the war itself, Feyre didn’t fight at all and Hybren had equally powerful magic so that didn’t bother me. However, all that training for Feyre to not enter a single battle during the actual war was a little ridiculous. All this power and she stood by and watched because she wasn’t trained to fight with the legion? I got the reasoning but why give her these amazing powers and have her not once use them in the final battle? Now, my biggest grievance with this novel is that Elian, and to some extent Nesta, are just walking plot devices. Elian is literally only mentioned in the narrative to push some other action forward, sending Lucien to look for Vessa, to warn them about the Ravens, and to force Azriel and Feyre to go and rescue her from Hybren so he goes after the humans. I learned nothing about her in this novel and honestly didn’t care about her in the slightest even though I enjoyed her character in the first two novels. When she faced her human betrothed I couldn’t have cared less because she wasn’t on the page enough for me to care and even that was just to show that Jurian was working against Hybren. While Nesta had more page time due to her connection to the Cauldron and therefore we had more emotional connection to her, she still didn’t seem like a character in this novel. I know that she is getting her own set of novels and I hope that they do her justice because I think she is one of the more interesting characters in the series when they actually let her be more than an ice-cold. Maas wanted to show that both sisters are traumatized by being turned, I get that, but you need to make us care about this trauma instead of just making both women useful for their skills and not talking aside from that. It was because of this disconnect that the real emotional moment for the sisters at the end of the novel really didn’t hit for me. My next grievance is that while they are in a war and a lot of people die, it isn’t any of the characters that the reader cares about. Sure, it is sad when the Cauldron blasts countless Illyrians out of the sky, but it wasn’t Cassian, thanks to Nesta, or Azriel. I am not saying that I wanted one of the inner circle to die, but literally all of the named characters make it through the war without any lasting physical effects. I guess that isn’t the truth, the Suriel, The Carver, and The Weaver do not survive, but again we really didn’t have an emotional connection to any of them save maybe the Suriel. Especially when Feyre realizes that The Carver came into the battle knowing he was going to die. Also, Feyre doesn’t lose anything in the battle other than her father, who she had been distant from for years. While his death was sad, Feyre really never planned to see him again so why should the reader be upset? Feyre doesn’t go mad looking into the mirror for The Carver and while I am all about learning to love the good and the bad in yourself, doing it in the span of hours is a little rushed. Feyre does not have to give up any of her powers to put the Cauldron back together, Rhysand doesn’t have any ill effects from dying to but the Cauldron back together, all the High Lords survive the war along with the named allies and mates. Even Amren’s big sacrifice was nulled as she came back as a High Fae. Again, I am a huge proponent of happy endings and maybe the emotional turmoil is shown in A Court of Frost and Starlight, but I still don’t really feel as if the happy ending was earned. I also don’t think that this series is Young Adult after A Court of Thorns and Roses, but New Adult. I have nothing against sex scenes in YA books because teenagers have sex, but the amount of sex in the last two books and how detailed the sex scenes were didn’t read like a Young Adult book. Feyre was nineteen at the beginning of all this (in hopes that we wouldn’t have an issue with a centuries-old Fae wanting to sleep with her, but that’s a different issue) and has had to take care of her family so one could say she is mature. That’s why the sex scene with Tamlin in the first novel didn’t bother me at all (though there are things to say about the Under the Mountain, again not now) because while it was detailed, it was a culmination of a novel's worth of relationship building. However, in A Court of Mist and Fury and A Court of Wings and Fury, the sex scenes are more prevalent and at points, all Feyre and Rhysand think about, like the library scene. I, personally, didn’t mind all that sexuality in this novel, but I don’t think having multiple sex scenes is the only way the novel could have been empowering for young girls and their sexuality. I don’t need to know that Feyre’s legs are still up on Rhysand’s shoulders to understand the deep and intimate bond they share, just saying. Again, in an adult novel, give me all those details, not needed in YA. Overall, I enjoyed the series, but I see why people have pointed out the problems with how romantic relationships have been portrayed. I am not sure if I will seek out A Court of Frost and Starlight or Nesta’s novels, which are apparently an adult series. Maas didn’t exceptional world-building so that Prythian was a living, breathing world. However, I don’t feel as if the emotional hits really worked in this final novel and the happy ending was just a little too perfect for my taste. Maybe I’m just a cynic at heart after all.

Elsword’s: the Protector of the El

This is an archived post of mine that I’ve... debunked myself somewhat.

So now that we know how Elsword gained his power and right to decide the fate of the world, and I think it’s time we look at why Elsword in particular was chosen to take the test in the first place.

Harnier and Solace calls him “Protector of the El” or “the one who protects the El”. They use the word “protect” and not “restore”. There is no one absolute El to protect, but yet they call him a protector of El. This is an important piece of fact we need to address. You can only protect what exists; you cannot protect something that you have to repair and restore first.

Why do they call him a protector?

Elsword recognizes the fabricated El to having the same energy as the original Giant El and finds the energy familiar and even nostalgic. A familiar and nostalgic feeling when approaching a fabricated El created to simulate the energy of the original Giant El before its destruction? What kind of human is was Elsword to have such memory of the El?

Notice that he doesn’t simply say “I remember feeling this power before”, he specifically mentions the word “familiar” and “nostalgic.”

Nostalgia: a sentimental longing or wistful affection for the past, typically for a period or place with happy personal associations.

Who in God’s name has a personal association with the giant El? Elsword knows there might be a part of him that he never knew... but who? Was Elsword someone from the past? How is he remembering all this?

Through Ain, we learn that it is possible to see memories hidden within El fragments. And he’s not the only one who can do that:

From EP. 25, last quest “[Dungeon] Final Battle” description:

When the battle comes to an end, the Party collapses by the force of Solace, and it was only Elsword who struggles to his feet. Upon looking at Elsword standing, Solace says that the time has come and starts the device. At the same time, the light beams through the device, and Solace and Elsword disappear into the light.

The “device” is the central core of Elysion, made up of Diceon ores, and created to have the same energy as the original Giant El. It probably had a fragment of the original El in it to show Elsword the truth of the past.

The familiarity and nostalgia he feels from the energy emitted from the fabricated El is from the El itself:

“You're telling me... everything I've been remembering is from the El?”

“The phantom images that torment you are the evidence.”

BECAUSE HE WAS SOMEONE FROM THE PAST.

And the El knows who Elsword was.

This is the point where we venture into the realm of fiction and talk about “possible” things that Elsword could have been. And as I sometimes like to do, I wanted to focus on the new titles that was launched with the Elpheus IB avatar set: Berserker and Relinquished. It is called Sacrifice in Korean but for some reason it’s called Reliquished in English (Elwiki).

Sacrifice: A mark to honor the warriors who died to protect the Giant El from ancient Berserkers.

Berserker: Beings whose energy went rampant within their bodies. We called them “Berserkers”.

Can you guess where I’m headed with this?

I think maybe Elsword was one of the warriors who died while PROTECTING THE GIANT EL in the past. Guess what Elsword is called time and time again by Harnier and Solace? Protector of El.

Including this in case someone thinks there could’ve been a translation error and that it’s just a coincidence that they use the same word, “protect”:

Part of Sacrifice Title Korean Description: (거대 엘을 지키기 위해 숨져간 용사들)

Harnier when talking to Elsword via one-way voicechat: (엘을 지키는...) (엘... 단 한 명의... 지키는 자...)

Both use the verb “지키는” which means “to protect”

He’s not called a Master of El, or “Lady of El”, he’s called protector. It’s a role(?) we’ve never heard of before and then KoG decides to release this title along with Elpheus IB avatar... Coincidence? Hmm.

Also there is a very... not.. new .. at all............ item in the game that might have been overlooked by many: it’s the El Lord Accessories.

El Lord accessories do look quite fancy and I am kind of too lazy to post a pic of them here but you all probably know what they look like by now. Most of them don’t have any sort of interesting piece of description other than that they are marks containing the holy energy of the El. There are also red variants called “Fallen El Lord” which... contains the energy of the fallen energy of El. What’s interesting is the El Lord Oracle and El Lord Exodus:

El Lord Oracle: Magical mark containing a blue light energy of the El. It feels like you can hear the El’s quiet message.

El Lord Exodus: Magical mark containing the El’s energy. It feels like you can hear the El’s warning of a danger.

(I know you might be thinking of Rubenians after reading El Lord Exodus’ description but that will be a whole other post later in the future)

Two things can be inferred from these descriptions:

There might’ve been a thing called El Lord and

El was able to pass on messages, perhaps to El Lords

El Lords were able to hear messages from the El directly

Unrevealed Area/Past El Reveal in Ain’s Tutorial

In that post, I talked about a possible reveal of a new area or a possible vision of El in the past, before Harnier and Solace’s time:

In that post, I’ve talked about how that could be Elianode before Harnier and Solace’s time, even before the advent of Ishmael and the first lady of El, judging by how the El is not covered in some building. It also means it’s when the El was not unstable, like after the Nasod War and went rampant and wrecked the continent of Elrios, which means people were able to draw more power from it, and the cities look more magnificient than it ever will in the future. The city of Elianode 500 years ago was impressive, but that was with an unstable El, after the Nasod War. The current Elrios is... is not even worth mentioning, with the absolute El shattered and destroyed. Elianode before the El ever went rampant would’ve looked beyond our imagination, where the Elian culture thrived.

This is my guess:

Elsword could have been an “El Lord” who could hear messages directly from the El, who lived before the advent of Ishmael and the Nasod War. He was also the El’s protector. When the berserkers (not Zealots of Henir, because we don’t know if they existed before the coming of the first Lady of El, but berserkers = zealots is definitely possible) attacked the city to destroy the El, Elsword, as one of the protectors, died or sacrificed himself to save the El.

Centuries later, when Ishmael sent Ain to Elrios to restore the depleting energy of the El, she saw its destruction via implosion, maybe decided that a simple agent of hers cannot handle the scale of the task at hand. Knowing Elsword’s past dedication to the well-being of the El and what he had sacrifice to protect it, maybe the Goddess sent Elsword, trusting his unceasing desire to restore the El that he somehow would retain even after reincarnating.

But of course that isn’t enough... and that’s where the whole transcendence comes in, to test Elsword’s willingness to save the world and to see if he’s really worthy of “the power and the right.”

Maybe the only ones worthy of choosing the future of the world are the ones that willingly sacrificed their lives to save it in the first place.

One thing I would like to address:

Why Elsword and not other previous Ladies of El?

Even with the first Lady of El (I addressed this before, but Ishmael seemingly took control over her body), I feel like they were chosen regardless of their willingness to die for the El (case in point: Harnier). If you remember what Ladies of El do, they don’t do much other than to make sure it doesn’t go rampant. Their main duty is to maintain its flow of energy, because it’s still unstable after the Nasod War. Also, knowing how each and every one of them eventually perished (being absorbed into the El)... I don’t know if they would be willing to do the same, if not even greater for the sake of restoring the El.

Elsword, on the other hand, might have been ... someone who willingly chose that path. The things about Elsword I have listed so far tells us so many stories about why and how Elsword is special, and each of them explain why that not even the Ladies or Masters of El, or the agent of the Goddess herself could handle the mission Elsword was entrusted with.

If someone has to find the scattered fragments of El, restore it, and decide the future of the world, it has to be someone who is capable of doing more than what the Ladies and Masters of El have done in the past.

So what does it all mean?

There is one teeny tiny problem to this grand scheme Ishmael might’ve cooked up for Elsword to restore the El to return it to its former glory:

“Even if there is a part of me that I don't know... that doesn’t mean I’m going to become an existence for the El.” (Youtube)

That line is perhaps the most important clue to what Elsword will choose at the crossroads of decision. Through out the journey, Elsword showed selfless desire to save everyone and the world by restoring the El...

We don’t know what Elsword chooses... but we know it goes horribly wrong.

And now this is where I bring up Elia

I first started this super long post more than a month ago, researching and looking up WHY and HOW things in the story happened the way they did.

For me, the bottom line was that Elsword was trying to do something Ishmael herself couldnt do.

When the El went rampant after the Nasod War, the only thing Ishmael did was calming it, without restoring it completely. The El was unstable, and Ladies of El + Masters of El + Priestess system was necessary after that point. Now, the problem is that we don’t know if she physically COULDN’T restore it completely, or she just chose not to, for various possible implications that we are not aware of.

Punching a hole in the Ancient God Henir’s domain to save Ain?

Remember, Ishmael serves Elia, a direct opposite of Henir. What gives her (or Elsword) the power to do that?

Restoring a shattered El and returning the world as it once was as if none of this happened? When Ishmael herself couldn’t/didn’t do the last time she was HERE on Elrios?

It wasn’t even exactly clear that Ishmael created the El, because our records/lore only mention that she was the one who bestowed the El to the continent, without ever mentioning that she created it.

Our suspicions can continue for days, like,

Elia

Elrios

Elysion

Elsword

But of course, all of these were nothing but speculations and suspicions without a real concrete evidence to prove that Elsword had more connection to Elia than Ishmael or even go on to say Elsword = Elia.

I eventually threw this out the window when I discovered the true meaning behind the transcendence quest, where it describes the El as the Goddess’s breath, and it’s explicitly written that the Goddess tested Elsword. From all those things, it is probably more safe to say that Elsword has more connection to Ishmael than Elia.

Well, considering how Ishmael is a follower of Elia, I guess it’s not completely crazy to say that Elia having some influence over Elsword is plausible.

AOM 15 questions continues with the first double interview (Horatio & Celia's adoptive parents). Tag: #aom 15 questions

1 - Are you named after anyone? Leon: No, not that I'm aware of. Edith: I am! I'm named after my great-aunt, who died before I was born.

2 - When was the last time you cried? [They look at each other like they're hoping the other will remember.] Leon: Midsummer? Edith: That was what I cried at, not when. But that was last week? Leon: I don't know when I last cried. Edith: You were crying at seal videos yesterday. Leon: That doesn't count. Edith: Doesn't it? Leon: [pauses like he's trying to think of a way out of this] Okay, fine. I last cried yesterday.

3 - Do you have kids? Both: We do! Edith: We have a son and a daughter, both adopted, because [she gestures between her and Leon, who is obviously not bovan] and our son is human and our daughter is ferasca.

4 - Do you use sarcasm? Leon: [sarcastic] No, never. Edith: [also sarcastic] Surely not.

5 - What’s the first thing you notice about people? Leon: Faces. I never forget a face. Edith: I'm always checking out their horns, except for everyone who doesn't have horns. Then I guess just their hair.

6 - What’s your eye color? Leon: Brown. Edith: They're brown, but they look black.

7 - Scary stories or happy endings? Edith: It's better if it's scary on the way there but still a happy ending. Leon: I don't really read for spooky stuff or happy endings per se. So, maybe both, maybe neither.

8 - Any special talents? Leon: Well, I'm a dupe witch—face specialty, if you didn't already guess. Edith: And I can tie cherry stems into knots in my mouth. [Leon looks at her straight face and laughs.] Leon: She's forgetting the part where she's not afraid of anything. I have personally seen her wrangle a venomous snake. Edith: Mmhmm, and the reason you saw it is you were gonna save me if I got bit. Leon: [shrugs] To be honest, in her place, I would have just got bit and perished about it.

9 - Where were you born? Edith: Elians, just over the mountain from Tobarsha. Leon: Myosh system.

10 - What are your hobbies? Edith: Reading, going to concerts, playing games—like, board games, but also video games, even though I'm not that good. Going for long walks around the neighborhood and bothering Leon at work. Leon: Eating celery as loudly as possible when she brings me lunch. Edith: Yeah. Leon: For me, also reading, going to the theatre, telling people the sword [he gestures to the mantelpiece] isn't for fighting, playing card games and such. Edith: Losing at poker. Leon: Shh.

11 - Do you have any pets? Leon: We used to, years ago. [He glances at Edith.] We haven't really talked about getting more. Edith: We already have one pet though. Leon: What pet? You don't mean B— Edith: Bös! It's our pet rock. [She brings back a rock from the living room windowsill.] Our son has one, and I thought it was a cute idea.

12 - What sports do you play/have played? [They give each other a look that was apparently a shared joke.] Leon: I haven't played a sport stronger than a brisk walk in years. No, wait, that's a lie. It hasn't been that long since I could be arsed to play beach volleyball for ten minutes. Edith: I used to play every kind of contact sport I could get away with. Some things are just too dangerous with the horns, though. But anything that involved running around outside and climbing trees was my favorite.

13 - How tall are you? Edith: 5' 5". Leon: 5' 7". We've reached our shrinking era.

14 - Favorite subject in school? Edith: Mm…whatever they called the ecosystems class, because they'd always take us on field trips up the mountain, or to the middle of the woods. Leon: Would you believe I hated literature class in school? I liked history, at least as long as we were talking about the launch era. Believe it or not, I was not alive for that.

15 - Dream job? Edith: My dream dream job is something cool, like a sail racer or a park ranger. But I did really enjoy being a teacher before I retired. Leon: I think the job I have now has sort of turned into my dream job, because I just love talking about poetry. But I don't know. If I could be like my son and have a poetry shop somehow, that might be it.

every. single. one. of those OC questions, and the ones that you have to have a specific OC pick whoever you want, but make sure a couple of them are Darrvi and Taffel and Abbe and I think you have a fairy lady? or a dryad lady? or both? do them too, for whatever ones you want

i’m going to talk about so many ocs.

1. Do any of your OCs have a speech impediment?

heykel talks with a stutter! i’m not sure if this counts as an impediment but amytis’ voice is naturally very quiet so she has a hard time contributing to large conversations or arguments not because she doesn’t want to say anything but because people never hear what she says haha.

2. Do any of your OCs have a physical disability?

hmmm well my side fantroll syddie (who i hardly ever talk about r i p) has bowed legs from a trauma injury. she has to wear leg braces to talk. again, i’m not sure if this counts as a disability but since elian’s epileptic & not medicated he has to be careful going up and down stairs or swimming/bathing and it does put a limit on the types of activities he can do in the day.

3. What is your OCs favorite band if they have one?

okay well since u said darrvi first here he comes. darrvi would like music similar to john mayer and jason mraz. he probably knows a couple underground bands but they’re like. pop underground. they’re not really underground just sorta underground. it’s also a little known darrvi-fact that he enjoys listening to ke$ha music.

4. Does your OC have anything they take pride in? (like an award or collection?)

and taffel is next. is it bad to say i feel like he likes his stupid ripped up jeans? the ones he literally just cuts with a chainsaw? he probably likes that dumb varsity jacket i’m always drawing him in. so i guess the answer is a couple clothing items but he’s not a very materialistic person. other than the jeans and jacket i feel like he’s really proud of his physical fitness. he works really hard to keep it up lol.

5. Does your OC have a favorite film?

abbe’s favorite film…. uh…. hard to say since they don’t actually have movies in EG? abbe strikes me as the type of person who would like those cheesy family-oriented hallmark movies. he marathons the christmas movies in december.

6. How tall is your OC?

i’m assuming by “fairy lady” you mean maya! i haven’t made official heights for them yet but judging from my character reference sheet she’s near 5′9″ or 5′10″!

7. Does your OC have any celebrity crushes?

by dryad-lady do you mean lia merson? if so i don’t think she does! she was made for @pidgenerd ‘s story and i don’t think there’s an easy way to spread news in her world like we have in ours with TV/phones/radio/internet and all that media. i doubt lia really knows much about the world outside of her small tree community lol. besides, even if she had time for celebrities, she’s got a crush on @topazpearl ‘s kurama anyway *u*

8. Do you ship any 2 of your OCs?

um….. ya. a lot. elianXanneliese, abbeXrosalie, rolandXjeannine, irenaXdwayne the rock johnson, darrvitaffel, heykeltaffel, bodrumamytis, akhettalekah, whatever the heck is going on between fidias/paatni, and even though heykel/amytis blackrom is literal filth i still like the idea of it bye.

those are just the ships with ONLY my characters lol come back later for more swaggie shipping.

9. How would you describe your OCs fashion taste?

i’m gonna go back to maya on this because i really love her and i don’t talk about her a lot. maya likes dresses! bright colors and intricate, detailed patterns. this is a good example. also this. i feel like everything she wears could be described as a maxi dress or a sun dress.

10. Does your OC have any special talents?

u wanted more darrvi and taffel??? i’ll give you more darrvi and taffel. darrvi’s a decent baker? he sticks to making pies and cupcakes. i bet darrvi’s super secret talent is being able to find really good albums/movies/games in those giant “discount” bins you see at walmart. he goes to the clearance section or to thrift stores and gets really nice pairs of pants for $3. taffel on the other hand is a sculptor. he’s made a couple trinkets for leaena. he likes to work with clay and wood the most i bet he always has dirt under his nails. or splinters in his hands. his super secret talent is bumping up against vending machines and being able to knock a soda or a bag of chips out for free. he’s the guy who checks the slot to see if someone left a soda there and he always finds one.

11. Is your OC really bad at something?

darrvi is really bad at styling his hair. it just floofs up and poofs all over the place and he’s sick of it but he’s given up. he seems like he’s bad at making a decision and sticking with it good grief i feel like half of his life problems stem from the fact that he just doesn’t know what he wants.

taffel is really bad at cooking oh my gosh. no wonder darrvi can bake he had to learn for the both of them. i think taffel’s issue is that he’s that person who thinks “oh yea i can multitask i’ve got this” and before he knows it dinner is burnt, the laundry’s been sitting out for 2 hours, he didn’t vacuum up that mess in the living room and he forgot to call leaena back.

12. Does your OC have both of their parents?

maya’s dad died before EG starts. i’m sure her mother is still around but after her dad died she just left home and the rest of her family for something bigger.

lia does have both her parents but her dad is out working & traveling a lot since he’s a merchant. she lingers around her tree home with her mom and waits for dad to bring them treats and money from his travels.

13. Does your OC know their parents?

I HAVE TO KEEP ANSWERING THESE FOR LIA AND MAYA BECAUSE TROLLS DON’T HAVE ANY PARENTS RIP!!! but yes! they both know both of their parents.

14. Does your OC have any siblings?

maya has a lot of siblings! i’m thinking her family might have five children total, though i haven’t decided entirely on the birth order + genders of her siblings. i was thinking 2 older brothers and 2 younger sisters? this could change don’t hold me to it.

lia doesn’t have any other siblings. :’( it’s very sad and lonely but when your mother is a dryad and your father is a human obviously things aren’t going to work out perfectly.

15. Do any of your OCs have pets?

my oc kate has a pet canary! i’ve been toying with the idea of giving elian a service dog. his brother roland has some horses.

i don’t think trolls really have pets? so i guess none of my trolls have pets.

16. Do you have any nonhuman OCs?

no one from EG is a human and none of my trolls are humans haha. lia merson’s a dryad…. talise is some weird otter-anthro furry…. i think my only human ocs are my fankids? and faige and kaleb.

17. Do you have any OCs you haven’t posted about?

i have a couple of new dryads in the works for lia’s world, actually! but i don’t know anything about them i just wanted to draw more tree girls so i did.

i’ve also been thinking up a couple phoenix ocs from another part of the EG map but there’s not much happening with them.

18. How would you describe your OCs nature in one word?

watch me do darrvi and taffel again because i’m predictable. i think darrvi’s word would be “hopeful”? he wants the best for himself and for the people he loves so he comes up with elaborate schemes to make everything work out haha. he wants to believe that there’s some goodness in a world that’s so dark and violent. he gets let down a lot but somehow he’s muscled through.

i think taffel’s word is “self-centered”, but in more than one way. i mean he is pretty selfish and a lot of his actions are thoughtless and only benefit himself but i think that’s because he has a hard time connecting & understanding other people on an emotional level? so he ends up having this little world that’s just his and he doesn’t consider the impact of his actions on other people until after he’s done something.

19. Who is your youngest OC?

paseri! she’s only 11.

20. Who is your oldest OC?

i guess technically bodrum is the oldest since he’s like 200+ years old but um. we don’t talk about that and physically/mentally/emotionally he’s around 15 so uh. yea. otherwise i think my oldest is elian’s doctor/irena’s dad? he’s somewhere in his 50s-60s.

21. What race is your OC?

since most of my ocs aren’t human i don’t think i can answer this one? no one’s technically white/black/asian/etc. heck, maya is blue. all my fankids are just white. kaleb’s white. faige is biracial but i haven’t decided if her mom is black and her dad is white or if her dad is black and her mom is white.

22. Would your OC like you?

30 Day Countdown Mass Effect Andromeda Ryder Meme

Woops mossed yesterday so here's two questions in a row! 30 Days: Will you play SisRyder or BroRyder first? Why? How does your Ryder define their gender? I'll be playing SisRyder first, because with every game I play, if I can be a female then I am definitely breaking the game in as a girl. Ryder is cis-gendered. 29 Days: What is your Ryder's name? Why did you pick this name- is there a meaning or origin story behind it? Do they go by their nicknames? What would you name their sibling, father and mother if you were able to choose? Her name is Myrla (Mur-la) Ryder, AKA "Bird". Her name is french, given to her by her mother, if you haven't guessed yet meaning of the name is "Blackbird". Only her family really use her nickname, her mother out of affection and her brother and father out of habit. I would keep Scott's name as it is since Myrla has nicknamed him "Scooter" and she enjoys that name for him. Plus while their mother, Eliane named Myrla, Alec took to naming Scott. I don't believe I would rename Alec, since he is Burmese-American and he could have any name from those two cultures.

♛ The Boyz || Kingdom AU | Chapter 1 ♛

Newt threw the black knight piece in his hand. "Again, Joel... that little rat." He sighed frustratedly as a messenger exit his office. He'd heard of Joel's success in the battlefield, yet again. He bit his lower lip and clenched his fist, before returning his face to an empty and relaxed expression. It wasn't as if this is the first time he'd heard of the same words, but this time for sure he'd hoped to kill Joel as he heard prince Aiden of the Cricia Empire will be present on the battlefield this time.

It turned out to be fake news deliberately leaked out, and Aiden was able to take over one of the biggest fiefs Benevento had while sacrificing a small turf. Newt tried not to overturn the chessboard in front of him. He was in a losing game with his young uncle, the archduke Raphael Ferdinand. Although Raphael was his uncle in name, they were actually only 1 year apart as Raphael was 20 years younger than his brother, the current king.

"I'm sorry for my unsightly behaviour, archduke." Newt bowed his head slightly. Raphael smiled while sipping some tea. "No need for the formalities, it was just a simple game between brothers." Newt smiled at his words. In this grand palace, Raphael is the only one he considered as his blood-tie. His father barely ever talked to him, one of his brothers had commoner blood, and his other brother never showed any interest in the castle affairs. The third prince, Brian, is the son of a concubine who was taken hostage. She was the beloved first princess of the Kestramore Kingdom. It was owing to this that Kestramore Kingdom had held themselves back all these years. Although it was nice that Brian never showed any interest in the crown, Newt wished Brian would take his side instead of a neutral stance.

"A wise man once said, 'good things come to those who wait.' It's alright, the Armelia fief may be a big part of our economy, but it isn't so big as to completely paralyse us." Raphael reassured.

"I am aware of that... I am more afraid of falling out of favour with the king." Newt coldly responded. Ever since he learnt how to talk, he never once called the king his father by his own mouth.

"While you were the one directing Joel, he also has a brain of his own and still overlooked the possibility of an attack happening elsewhere. It is not entirely your fault, the king will surely consider it."

Newt chuckled, "I only wish that were the case."

Raphael sat next to Newt and gave him a pat on the back. "Don't worry, you can say it's my fault instead. After all, wasn't it my scouts who reported wrongly? Shall we have them beheaded?" He said, as though joking.

Newt laughed at his tasteless joke. While he felt no attachments towards his subjects, he also didn't like unnecessary murders. "Please don't blame them too much, uncle. Prince Aiden simply outsmarted us, that's all."

Raphael closed his eyes as though reminiscing. "You're right, he's certainly a bright child."

Newt raised an eyebrow at his remark. "You sound as if you have met him."

"Indeed, I have. I studied in Cricia before the situation turned this dire after all. I could see that he was a great leader even in his adolescent days." Raphael said.

Newt had accepted the fact that Aiden is almost as talented as he is in strategising. In fact, if Aiden had taken the reins since the start, they probably wouldn't be leading this ongoing war. He sighed at the memory of his first defeat after months of unstoppable march. It was because prince Aiden had started to make moves then.

The king of Benevonte has not made a move ever since Newt and Joel entered the scene. This whole war felt like a test for the two princes and a simulation of future wars when Aiden is counted in.

"Leo, call Jayden here. I need to talk with him." Leo did a 90-degree bow before leaving the room. He smiled and silently thanked Aiden for having caused a turmoil.

"How are the nobles' response?"

Other than being the successor of the current prime minister, Jayden is the leader of the first prince's faction. "They have absolute trust in you, prince. Instead, they are shifting the blame to prince Joel for having overlooked other possibilities when he's the one on the field. Please do not worry."

"We both have suffered losses this time. I can't stand this status quo... I need to do something, quick."

Newt had the nobles' support, while Joel had the support of commoners and nouveau richeーnew nobles who gained titles after the war or other achievements. It would not be wrong to say that they are standing toe-to-toe at the moment.

Jayden finally spoke. "As the prime minister's successor, I would strongly advise you to build connections with the church... as we know, Eliane Evaristus is unmarried. She is also loved by the commoners, so marrying her may affect the commoners' hearts. However, as your cousin, I'd want you to marry someone not for their background..."

The Coventry marquis family is Newt's maternal family, and Jayden is his cousin. This is also why most nobles are strongly advocating for Newt.

"Jayden, I've said this before, but you are way too soft. Isn't it normal for nobles to have arranged marriages? The problem is, the pope won't agree so easily. Other than his love for his daughter, he definitely doesn't want to hand over the church's control to anyone." Newt frowned as he thought about the pope.

Raphael finally finished pondering over something. "Prince, you don't need to worry about that. If push comes to shove, I have dirt on the church that we can utilise. Of course, I'd rather not use it, since the church is an important part in gaining control over the citizens."

Newt's eyes sparkled at his uncle's statement. "Are you sincere, archduke?" He tried to control his excitement. "Of course, even priests have dirty little secrets."

"Hestia, do we really need to go through that again?" Joel complained. They were getting closer to the capital, and he was dreading the festive welcomes they get each of the time. "We didn't even do that well this time..."

"Well, just accept and appreciate it, will you?" She said as she playfully punched his arm. "I do appreciate it, but... I'd rather quickly sleep in my room. My back hurts from all this horse riding." He said as he plopped down on his horse.

"This is why all the knights told you to take the carriage Baron Bolton offered..."

"But that would be unfair! The other knights are also riding on a horse!" He pouted.

"Yeah, well the world is unfair and we know that! The knights care about you too much to give a fuck about that." Hestia said in a bit of a rough manner. Since she's used to talking with the knights who are mostly commoners, she has also adopted their way of talking.

"Hestia... I think sometimes you forget that you are a lady."

"And you forget that you are a prince. They would've let you take a carriage even if it slows us down, you idiot. In fact, I would've probably been beheaded if someone heard what I said just now."

Joel cackled at her as she belatedly realised she had just insulted a member of the royal family. "You're partially right, so it's alright." He smiled like a fool.

Hestia clicked her tongue and kicked Joel's horse. "This is exactly why you get looked down upon by those sneaky old men. Don't smile like that when someone insults you, you utter fool. No, you don't even get it when someone insults you, that may be a blessing on its own." Hestia said before speeding up.

Joel stared at her shrinking figure blankly. "...Hey! I do realize, okay?"

"Prince Brian!" A young man bringing a thick book around woke the sleeping prince up. Brian was taking a nap under the trees in the Demeter garden. As soon as he woke up, Brian complained. "Ah, teacher (쌤)! I was so close to finishing the chicken... Wait, just let me go back to sleep and complete the dream."

"Prince!" Jacob shook him again. "Let's have you properly take classes at least once in a while... please? Today's lesson is quite interesting! It's about the Kestramore Kingdom."

Brian took a peek at the book Jacob is carrying and sneered. "I've read it already, teacher."

"Oh, really? I knew you would've read about it. What did you think of it?" Jacob sat on the grass and directed his attention to Brian. Brian then sat up, and started to share his thoughts. Jacob listened to his intelligent remarks with great attention, and Brian reciprocated his interest.

Jacob isn't Brian's first tutorーnor is he the second, third, or even the tenth. Countless people have tried to teach Brian, but they'd give up in about 2 months at most, because it was entirely impossible to bring him to a desk. Everyone thought of him as the incompetent prince and never paid any attention to Brian.

But the Brian Jacob knows is different from everyone's thoughts. In fact, Brian is very knowledgeable, and Jacob felt that he's given much efforts in order to understand various materials. If there's one thing Jacob could ask to Brian, it would be why Brian is hiding his true skills. Alas, Jacob knew he wasn't close enough to be asking this, and he had his own guesses.

Their conversation was interrupted by Leo. Jacob knew Leo was Newt's butler, and his background was very clearーyet Jacob couldn't help but act cautiously around Leo.

"Excuse me, the third prince and royal tutor. I am here to bring you refreshments." Jacob was surprised, he didn't think anyone would see them amongst the hedges and trees in the garden.

"Thank you!" Brian enthusiastically received the desserts, without even thinking it could've been poisoned. Then again, Newt probably never saw Brian as a rival, and it would've been an unnecessary worry.

"Thank you, Leo."

"No need," Leo replied curtly as he bowed to them. "If you don't mind me asking, what were you two so passionately talking about?"

"Ah.. We were talking about the history of Kestramore Kingdom, after all, compared to Benevonte, they were much more eventful. Perhaps it is also because they are older than our own."

Leo raised an eyebrow, "Oh?" He looked away and covered his smile with a cough. "I see, indeed it is quite interesting. Even a commoner like me knows quite a bit about it."

This is one of the reasons why Jacob was curious about Leo. Despite being a commoner, he definitely had a lot of knowledge. Then again, Newt wouldn't place just anyone next to himself, so Jacob stopped any negative thoughts he's having.

"Oh! On that topic, this is a Kestramore dessert, isn't it?" Brian delightfully commented.

"Indeed it is, as I thought, our third prince is very knowledgeable. Well then, I'll be taking my leave now. Please have a pleasant day." Leo bowed before leaving them.

"Man, Leo is always so nice! It's like he knows just when I'm starving."

Brian's words piqued Jacob's interest. "Really? That's interesting."

"Yeah! It's like my stomach has telepathy with his brain!"

"or maybe it's because he's watching you... but why? Is it Newt's orders, or...?"

"Lucia! What are you doing here?" Leo half-whispered and half-shouted. Leo was on his way to Newt's office when he caught his friend seemingly eavesdropping on whatever conversation Newt is having.

"I was following Sir Jeremy! He's the only reason I'm even staying here for this boring mission. Don't bother me."

"I don't care about that, just don't act so suspicious!"

"What do you mean 'suspicious'? I'm even bringing around a tray of madeleines in case I got caught by anyone!" Lucia adamantly talked back to Leo. He heaved a sigh and brushed Lucia aside.

Just as he was about to knock on the door, he felt a presence on the other side of the door and quickly stepped aside. Jeremy opened the door and greeted Leo before he left. Lucia was nowhere to be seen.

"Oh, Leo. What were you doing?"

"Ah, I was making the prince some dessert, but I messed up, and now I'm here empty-handed." Leo reported while chuckling at his faked mistake.

"That's okay, the dessert you make are delicious, it must've been because of your efforts. Anyway, how is the banquet preparation?"

"I received news from the head butler, head maid, and head chef that everything is going well."

"And the pope?"

"My messenger has delivered the message, we are expecting a reply from the pope tonight."

"Alright, I'm sure if the pope were wise, we'd be able to announce the engagement on the day of the banquet."

"Everything will surely go as you wish, first prince."
