Hello, first of all. Love your work ❤️
So I had a bit of an angsty though. What if during the events mc when when everything is fucked after Tricky high jacking the artifacts, that during him losing it but everything is still gone to hell. What if the player, hear me out. In order to restore the balance of the world(not completely tho). They have to do something like a hard reset to put things back in order. Aka, sacrifice themselves 👀
Like how it would be the alternate end to the it and depending on what happens, the player is sent back home or comes back shortly after permanently. (Still some madness going around, just not having hell above the world)
So for it being super long winded and I hope it makes sense 😅
HEHEHEHEH ANGST~~
+Set in Salty’s AU
+Player is Gender Neutral
~~
You couldn’t believe this was happening…
What had gone so wrong for the world of Nevada for it to end up like this?
After all your guidance, you still managed to screw up this badly. At first, it was with Deimos’s death, then Hank’s magnification and mutation, then Tricky acquiring the Keystone Fragment and improbability drives, and now…hell runs amok in Nevada.
Around your bruised and battered form lies your friends and allies. Each injured and near death as the fire of hell roars around you all. You look at the one that you used to call your friend too…Tricky.
Now demonic and mutated beyond recognition, with the artifacts and the power of the Auditor inside of his very being, he looks at you as if he doesn’t recognize you. The madness now runs so deep within him that his mind no longer operates properly.
He merely wants to kill you all…and he was slowly succeeding.
You pant and hold your injured arm, staring the demonic form of Tricky down as your remaining friends lay behind you. The only thing stopping Tricky from finishing them all off…is you standing between him and them, your iridescent strings binding his form.
You were already injured, and despite your strings barely holding the demonic entity back, you still stand before him in defiance. Protecting those that you have come to hold dear.
Your mind races as the skeletal demon tugs and snaps at the strings that bind him, desperate to get free so that he may finish the job.
What can you do to stop this…this…this madness?
The world of Nevada was lost to the growing hellfires…and in the deepest parts of your bones, you can feel those in Nevada suffering. Some of the remaining living grunts even pray to you as they wish and cry out to be saved by someone…anyone.
All their pain…all their deaths…their last dying breaths…you can feel them all. You are in as much pain as the rest of the world…and Tricky, or what USED to be Tricky, needed to be stopped before he consumed the world.
You were always praised as a god by the local populace of Nevada. But as you stand here before the corrupted form of Tricky…you doubted that you deserved such a title.
How can you be a god…and not save anyone from this horrible calamity?
You could barely even save anyone…you failed Deimos.
You failed Nevada, you failed Tricky, and even the remaining of your own friends. You were a failure and you were alone on the cusp of deciding the fate for the entirety of Nevada.
But you couldn’t fail…only when you give up would Nevada truly be lost.
There had to be something you could do to combat this chaos…to restore order.
So as you endure the pain and the burning fires around you, you search for a way to fix things. Going through all your codes and your consoles, you search as quickly as you could…and you find something.
‘Hard Reset’.
The red string of code glows in warning as you read the title again and again.
That’s right…you could call to the hands of time…to turn back the clock and reset everything back to the way it was…whenever. Back to a simpler time before the madness grew to such straits. Before you lost Deimos, before Hank became a mag, before Tricky was lost to insanity, and before Nevada began to burn.
You always reset when you lost your vessels before…you could do it again.
You select the code in your console and a bright warning suddenly flashes up in your UI.
‘WARNING! Hard Resets results in the total erasure of save data and backups! Upon resetting, all progress will be lost and all values reset back to zero! Following user data will be deleted upon reset! Do you wish to continue? Y/N’
You take a moment to pause as the warning blinks brightly, obviously detailing the warning of triggering it. You take a second to reflect on your decision.
That’s right…a hard reset erases everything. Memories, unlockables, missions, choices, and achievements…and it may even erase you from existence.
All your friends will forget you. All the memories you made together will no longer exist. You weren’t even sure if you were going to make it out of this…but what else could you do?
Tricky was too powerful…and their world was burning.
Would you risk your own existence if it meant that your friends could live again? Would you give everything for Nevada, a place that wasn’t even your home dimension? Did you love them all that much?
You merely let out a slight huff of a laugh.
Of course you did.
You love all of your vessels. If that meant that you can give them another chance to live again and find a happier ending…you would gladly give them that chance. Even if it meant that you would no longer be a part of their lives. Even if it meant you would no longer be a part of Nevada.
Without a second more of hesitation, you select the code and enter ‘Y’ into the console.
The world suddenly blinks red and you feel yourself beginning to glow. The code that you selected bursting from your body, strand after strand, each ascending into the sky.
You hear someone call out for you and you turn to look over your shoulder.
Seeing 2B painfully trying to pick himself up as the others try to do the same. Despite their grave injuries, they still attempt to stand as they fumble and fall over.
The light pouring from your chest continues to build in intensity as your body begins to destabilize, the other looking on in horror as Tricky hisses at the intense light that radiates from your body.
“What did you do?! What’s going on?!?” You hear 2B shout out to you.
You could only smile and try to hold back tears as your body begins to burn and more codes are executed from your glitching console.
“Fixing Nevada.” You say simply.
“What?! What do you mean?!! Player, what’s happening to you??” 2B continues to yell from behind you as your strings all become white hot and start to burn into Tricky, causing him to roar in pain.
“I…I’m fixing Nevada. I’m going to give you all another chance.” You explain, ignoring how the burning in your chest intensifies as the light gets brighter and brighter.
“I’m doing my duty as a ‘god’. I’m answering the prayers of Nevadeans. I’m saving the world. But…I won’t be there to celebrate with you all. Not in body…and not in memory.” You continue.
“What the fuck?? What…what’s going on??” Sanford grunts out from his place nearby as 2B continues to try and stand, his weak legs barely holding him up.
“Player! Stop! We can defeat Tricky, just let us get back up! Instantheal us!” 2B cries out, almost like he was losing his composure.
“I’m sorry, 2B. But Nevada is lost. If we did defeat Tricky…the world would be nothing but ash. I have to do this. I’m going to make this all seem like it’s just some horrible dream.”
You look over your shoulder towards your collapsed vessels. Tears freely running down your face as you give them a broken smile and try your best not to sob.
“Don’t worry. It’s all going to be okay. I promise. Deimos will be here, Hank will be himself, Tricky will be back to his own brand of normal, and Nevada will be okay. Even if you forget me…I won’t forget you all.”
You allow your tears to freely fall as the burning in your chest grows unbearable.
“I love you all and thank you for such a memorable adventure. I’ll do better next time.”
You see all your vessels struggle to get off the ground as they try to approach you, despite the bright light that is now breaking through your form.
“Player, no! Wait!”
“What the fuck do you think you’re doing!?”
“Stop!”
You hear them all say, but your progress bar suddenly fills and you could only wave at them in a sorrowful way as the light consumes your body.
“GoodbyeeeeeeaaaaAAAAAGGGHAAAAAHH!!” You scream as your farewell changes into a burning shrill wail as the light completely consumes your body and begins to engulf all that surrounds you.
Causing all the remaining vessels to wince and flinch at the intense heat and Tricky to roar as he melts from the volume of light that burns into his body.
The light continues to expand, slowly taking in all of Nevada as the world falls apart. Consuming every last inch of the world into a pristine white glowing void.
Then there’s the sudden echoing sound of something shattering that resonates throughout the entirety of the white void…
And then 2B wakes up.
He sits up in a thick layer of cold sweat, looking around himself and finding a familiar room laid out before him. He lets out a groan as he sits up on a familiar lumpy couch, his head having a massive headache for some reason.
He hears the sound of movement ringing throughout the base which piques his interest.
He gets up and leaves his messy and dingy room behind as he walks into the living area of their make-shift temporary base.
In the room, he sees Hank sitting on the couch watching Slaughter Time, Sanford messing about in the kitchen area, and Deimos polishing up their weapons and guns. For some reason…2B felt a sense of relief come over him when he laid eyes on Deimos.
Maybe it was from that bad dream he had? What was that dream about again…he was…somewhere. There was something very bad going on…and then there was light.
He remembers reaching for someone…but he doesn’t remember who.
2B feels his head hurt again as he tries to think about what happened, but nothing comes to mind. No matter how hard he tries to tell himself.
And the more he stared at the other three in the living room…the more off something made him feel. Like…he was pretty sure that this was his entire team. Who else could he be missing?
Wasn’t there always just three coworkers?
The frustration and confusion he was feeling only seemed to make him upset.
So, he ignores the other three grunts and walks into the area that served as his research station. Sitting down and typing entries on his computers and tablets. Trying to see where he left off from work…but something notable catches his eye.
Something that invokes a feeling of deja vu.
There was an entry that was left open on his screen…and it seemed to be talking about a powerful being that the Auditor was getting into contact with called ‘The Player’.
Player….Player….Player…
Why…
Why did that sound so familiar…?
And why doesn’t he remember typing this entry?
. . .
Something was wrong.

Kirby and the Great Adventure of Planet Robobot! Chapter 3
Tumblr media
Overload Ocean: That is what the invaders named the whole area of this coast. Just as Kirby and Waddle Dee had guessed, the blue building is this area’s stronghold. It is the enemy’s operations center for carrying out the mechanization of the coastline.
The building’s entrance was being protected by the latest security system. The surveillance cameras caught sight of Kirby and his friend, where a high-pitched alarm began ringing immediately. A synthetic speech is declaring a state of emergency. “Intruders detected! Intruders detected! We will exterminate them at once!” Laser beams are aimed at Kirby and Waddle dee. But an attack like this doesn’t work on Kirby burning with rage. “Move!!” While skipping about too fast for the eye to notice, Kirby fired his specialty Air Pellet in succession. Both the surveillance cameras and the laser weapons are destroyed one after another. Although he can’t really be of use, Waddle Dee also supported Kirby by throwing stones that he picked up. In a short while, all the systems were destroyed and the door opened. Kirby and Waddle Dee entered the enemy’s stronghold in high spirits.
“Natives have broken into this base......you say?” Secretary Susie was in the center of the base area. The room’s walls are made of tempered glass, and the outside is made up of the sea. At first glance, the sea may seem beautiful just like before, but no living creatures were to be seen. They were all captured in succession, where mechanization is being carried out on them. Susie was listening to the reports from her lackeys in the corner of the room. “How could this have happened? What happened to the security system?” “Well......they all seem to have been destroyed.” Answered her lackeys in hesitation, where Susie opened her light blue eyes wide. “Goodness, the security systems that our company takes pride in were destroyed......you say? I guess there are some competent natives in this primitive star after all.” “R-Right......” “It’s fine. Let’s capture those natives as well. They’ll be the material for a new product following M-7110 and D-0030!” Susie turned to the communication panel and pressed a button. “Can you hear me, Director Kane? This is Secretary Susie.” There was an immediate response in a shrill voice. “I hear you, Ms. Secretary! Make it snappy, please. Right now, I’m super busy just from working on that top-secret product.” “I order you to capture the intruders. Seize the eyesores of an intruder that came into our Overload Ocean command HQ.” “Wha......b-but ma’am! Like I said, I’m currently working on the top-secret product......” “You can leave that to the Mother Computer. You are to obey my orders!” “Uh......ughh......” His voice seemed very discontent, but Secretary Susie has immense power within this company. He complied reluctantly. “Understood. I’ll send Invader Armor and head over to capture the natives.” “You mustn’t injure them. Their values as materials will drop.” “Aye, aye.” The communication was cut off. Following that, Susie accessed the Mother Computer and checked the progress of the top-secret products. “M-7110 and D-0030 are both going smoothly......putting in the final adjustments......just as planned, huh.” Nodding in satisfaction, she spread her hands and looked up at the tall ceiling. Grand music can be heard from somewhere. With it, Susie began singing in a beautiful voice. “Noble Haltmann, we adore him......bless our work and be at ease!” What she is humming is the theme song of the Haltmann Works Company. However......in contrast to the triumphant lyrics, there was some gloom in her eyes.
“Return everyone back to normal! Return Dream Land back to normal!” Kirby is running amok as he shouts. One after another, the defense systems inside the base were getting destroyed and the employees were taking cover and trembling. “W-What a frightening power......that native......” “You pink demon!” Waddle Dee said, having been running behind Kirby. “It doesn’t look like anyone’s here, Kirby. The bad guy must be in the deeper room.” “Yup, let’s go deeper!” “-Hold it, natives!” There was a figure standing before the two. Kirby and the Waddle Dee stood ready and glared at the enemy. What stood in the two’s way was a bizarre creature. He has a plump body and is wearing a white suit. His hair just as white is tousled like a knitting wool. About half of his face is concealed by his thick glasses. “I am Director Kane from the Haltmann Laboratory. Upon orders from the company, I’m capturing you natives!” Director Kane lifted his one hand, and with thump, thump......a loud sound was approaching from deep within the passage. What emerged was a powered suit giving off a menacing bloodlust. It is far bigger and more imposing than the Armor Soldiers that attacked Dream Land. Director Kane puffed out his chest and said.
Tumblr media
“Would you look at that! This is what my lab poured its blood, sweat, and tears into! We gave our body and soul! We’ve mustered up all our strength in making itttt!!” Falling in labored breathing from too much screaming, Director Kane coughed and continued. “It is Invader Armor, the super-high performance battle machine!!! You natives will be prey to this dreaded killing machine!” “I won’t lose!” Kirby jumped up and was throwing himself at Invader Armor without the slightest fear. Usually, Kirby can demonstrate almost no power in a ‘Normal’ state without a Copy Ability. Before a strong foe, he would even hesitate on fighting. But Kirby was different right now. He has forgotten himself in anger of messing up the residents of Dream Land “You can do it, Kirby!” Even Waddle Dee’s cheers became his strength. “Eat this!!” He hits the Invader Armor with an extra-large Air Pellet. Invader Armor staggered from the impact. Director Kane too staggered as if he himself was hit by the Air Pellet. “W-What? Invader Armor, the super-latest weapon my lab takes pride in stumbled? N-Nonsense......and from something like a native’s attaaack! Get serious, Invader Armor!” Raising its arms made of alloy, Invader Armor struck it down at Kirby. Kirby jumped aside quickly. Part of the floor crumbled from the attack just now. Kirby inhales the clump of rubbles. “Haaa!!” Together with his shout, he spits out a Star Bullet with vigor. It is far more powerful than an Air Pellet. Receiving a direct hit, Invader Armor stopped moving. Kirby isn’t slowing his attacks. One after another, he inhales the rubbles and strikes the enemy with Star Bullets. “Haa! Haa! HAAA!!!” Invader Armor is hit with Star Bullets in succession and wobbles. At last, the combatant on board the Invader Armor jumped out, unable to bear it any longer. Director Kane screams. “You son of a gun! Are you trying to run away!?” “I’m sorry, director. The opponent is too strong! I can only go so much!” “It’s a serious crime to desert before the enemy! Your salary is cut by eighty perceeent!” “I’m more important than the salary! I’m done for if this keeps up!” The combatant flew the coop. “AH, YOUUU!! Come back here! Come back, please! I beg youuu!!!” Screams Director Kane, and coughs once again. Kirby looked up at the Invader Armor that stopped moving. Waddle Dee shouts. “Be careful, Kirby! It could be a trap! It might throw you off guard and start moving suddenly! “I’ll find it out!” Kirby jumped on the Invader Armor. Director Kane protested in a shrill voice. “Ah, you little turd! Don’t you get on the latest and the strongest Invader Armor that our company takes pride in when you’re a mere native! Hand me bribery if you want to get in!!” ......He is surprisingly cheap. Kirby isn’t listening to his words. “Yup, it’s ok-ay. No one’s on in it anymore. Hmmm......what a weird vehicle.” A change occurred just as he sat on the driver’s seat. The Invader Armor’s body became a pink color similar to Kirby
Tumblr media
Waddle Dee is surprised. “Ah, the robot became pink! Why......?” Director Kane shudders and yells. “W-W-What the, Invader Armor is adapting to that native in an unprecedented level......WHYYYY! “Are you okay, Kirby? Isn't it painful?” Waddle Dee was worried about him. But Kirby is lively. “No problemo! This vehicle is interesting.” With Kirby on board, the armor began walking with thump, thump. Director Kane screams once again. “Whooaa, he’s maneuvering it so well! But even our company’s elite soldiers shouldn’t be able to control it without receiving intense special training for more than half a year! Just who is that pink natiiiiiiiive!! ......Cough, cough.” “Alrighty, I’ll fight with this vehicle!” Kirby moves ahead, handling the armor with ease. Waddle Dee shouts. “Wait up, Kirby! You’re so fast!” “Not quite! I’ll go faster!” The armor accelerated just as Kirby said. Not moving its feet, but it floated in the air just a slight by using a booster and began hovering. “WhaWhaWhaWhaWhaWhat the! He’s even handling the booster with skill! That can’t be called Invader Armor anymore......it needs a different name exclusive to that native! Native Armor......Pink Armor......no, no, not quite.” Director Kane tore his tousled hair out. Waddle Dee turned around from all the noisiness. “Is it that hard to make that robot move......?” “Robot......? Robo......hmm, Robobot Armor it is. I’ve decided to call that entirely new armor Robobot Armor! What a great name!” “Robo......bot?” “Wait, Robobot Armor! Let me study youuu!” Director Kane chased after Invader Armor turned pink......not, Robobot Armor. “I’m not really sure about it, but......Kirby really is amazing.” Muttered Waddle Dee and began running.
Before Robobot Armor moving forward smoothly, a new enemy appeared once again. It’s Wheelie, the inhabitant of Dream Land who has the body of a round tire. But he definitely seems off. He said in a low voice, looking at Robobot Armor with dull eyes. “Who are......you......aren’t you......Invader Armor......?” “Wheelie, it’s me, Kirby!” Shouts Kirby from the driver’s seat. But Wheelie’s expression didn’t change. “Kirby......did you also become Haltmann Works Company’s warrior?” “That’s not it! These jerks here have messed up Dream Land. I came to save everyone.” “Are you......an enemy of the great company......?” “Snap out of it, Wheelie. I’m......” “I won’t have mercy if you’re an enemy!” Wheelie began rotating on the spot. His signature move is to gather force like this and roll while knocking down anything in his way. “Listen to me, Wheelie. Those jerks here are turning everyone in Dream Land into machines. You too are under their control!” Wheelie didn’t respond immediately. Raising his speed of rotation to the limits, he shouts in a grating voice. “Shut up, Kirby! Working for the company is the greatest happiness there is!” “Wheelie......” “I work for the great company with daytime, nighttime, time to sleep and eat all but no more......it’s the greatest honor!” Wheelie charged at Robobot Armor. “Wahh!” Robobot Armor was directly hit by his charge. Sure enough, it wasn’t blown away from the weight it had, but lost his balance and tumbled. Director Kane who caught up to them groaned in disappointment. “Hmm......it fell over from such an attack......is this the extent of its strength......? Was I expecting too much......?” Waddle Dee rushes out in front of the director and yells. “Kirby, are you alright!?” “U-Uh-huh......but Wheelie is......” “Get down from that robot, Kirby! Then you’ll be able to use a Copy Ability!” “Okay! Alrighty!” Hearing Waddle Dee’s great idea, Kirby tried to get down from Robobot Armor. But Wheelie charges at him swiftly. Receiving several tackles, Robobot Armor continues to stumble. “I-I can’t get down like this......!” Screams Kirby. Wheelie charges at him with no concern. While aboard the Robobot Armor, he wasn’t sure if he could inhale Wheelie or not, but he has no choice but to make or break. -With it, something strange happened at that moment. As though it responded to Kirby’s ‘Inhale,’ part of its stomach opened and green light emitted from there. Wheelie was gone the moment he was flooded with that light. At the same time, Robobot Armor transformed into a figure resembling a race car with large tires equipped to it.
Tumblr media
“WhaWhaWhaWhaWhat is that!? It transformed? You mean that it scanned that tire creature’s shape and ability!? I should call this Wheel Mode!” Cries Director Kane. “You’re amazing, Kirby!” Waddle Dee hops up and down in excitement. “You used a Copy Ability while on board the robot!” “Copy? No, wrong! You should call this Ability Scan! It’s a terrific ability that analyzes the opponent’s data in an instant and rearranges its own structure on a molecular level!” Director Kane is even more excited than Waddle Dee. He danced about with both his hands raised. “Holy smokes! Invader Armors weren’t equipped with such ability! I can only conclude that that pink native’s potential brought out the armor’s new ability! What an incredible natiiive! ......Cough, cough.” Kirby in question is puzzled. “Huh......? It changed shape and became like a car.” “Can you run, Kirby?” “No idea......I’ll give it a try......” As soon as he says so, Robobot Armor in Wheel Mode began running. It’s acceleration performance was splendid. It speeds up rapidly and sprints the long corridor. “Wow, amazing, Kirby!” Waddle Dee’s eyes sparkled. Kirby too felt refreshed and began to sing while running. “Lalala, so fast! I’ll run anywhere with the invincible wheel~!” He was about to crash into a wall at a dead end, where he had the armor make a sharp turn right away. The armor somersaulted and jumped to a lower floor. “Ahhhh! Robobot Armor has entered our new vehicular test course!” Shouts Director Kane. “The test course is a super-difficult circuit with gravel paths, slopes, and sudden turns! You also need to follow the signal!” “Be careful, Kirby!” Waddle Dee watched the running Robobot Armor in anxiety. Robobot Armor is in the zone as Wheel Mode. Picking up more and more speed, it drives recklessly on the circuit. At that moment, the signals on the course turned red in unison. Director Kane shouts, having noticed it. “It’s a red light! Stoop! You need to stooop......!” Kirby doesn’t look at the signal. He continued running just like that with no thought. Right as he ignored the red light and runs through it: “AUGHHH!” Simultaneously with Director Kane’s cry, a large explosion occurs. The Robobot Armor was blown away. Director Kane turned pale and said. “If you don’t follow the signal, the landmine installed on the course is set to explode......all because he ignores the signal......!” “Kirby!” In a panic, Waddle Dee jumped down onto the course and rushed over to Kirby. “Are you okay!?” “Y-Yeah......” Kirby rose up slowly. Kirby wasn’t hurt, but Robobot Armor was seriously damaged. Having reverted back to normal, Wheelie screamed and was running away. “I sped up too much......” Said Kirby regretfully. Waddle Dee sighed in relief as Kirby was unhurt. “It’s great that you’re alright, although the robot was destroyed!” “It’s a shame about the robot, but that can’t be helped.” “You think it can’t be helped!???” Director Kane hollered at Kirby. As he tottered, he picked up the scraps of armor scattered about the course and broke down in tears. “Aaaahh......Invader Armor, the fruit of our science that my lab has put all its efforts in developing is......in such a pitiful state!” “Sorry for breaking it.” Apologized Kirby. Director Kane looked daggers at Kirby. “Sorry won’t cut it......you blasted native......you will work with my lab......” “S-Sure......I’ll help out. Although I’m not sure if I could fix the broken robot......” “No! I don’t need any help in repairing......I want to study your unique potential......” His glasses sparkled, and Director Kane sidled up to Kirby. Kirby shrank back, feeling an ominous force. “W-What......? Study me......?” “Ehehe......it’s quite simple, you know......all I want to do is give you a shot, zap you with electricity, and beat you with a hammer......” “EHHH!?” “You’ll become the best product ever......the strongest product in the universe that surpasses M-7110 and D-0030......!” Director Kane leapt at Kirby. Kirby made a run for it in a panic. “I don’t wanna! I’m not gonna work with you!” “It’s for the great Haltmann Works Company to prosper......if I analyze your strength and mass produce soldiers with the same abilities as you......our company will be invincible!!!” Director Kane rushes at Kirby to seize him, where Kirby runs around in an attempt to escape. “You know, we’re busy here, Director Kane. We wanna hurry up and go to the deeper room. Stop bothering us!” “You think I’ll let you? Your destination isn't the inner room, but my laboratory!” “Geez, how stubborn can you be!?” Being baffled, Kirby resolves himself, opens his mouth widely, and takes a deep breath. Kirby’s inhaling power is tremendous. A storm broke in no time and Director Kane’s body floated in the air. “Ah? Ah? W-What’s the big idea!!? AHHHHHHHH!!!” As he shrieked, Director Kane was inhaled by Kirby. Waddle Dee shouts. “You inhaled Director Kane! Are you okay, Kirby? Doesn’t your stomach hurt from inhaling that weird guy?” “Mm......Mmmm? It doesn’t......hurt......but......?” As he was saying, Kirby transformed with a loud pop. He became a form that wore a white suit, glasses, and a round reflector in his head. On his hands are a test tube with a seven-colored liquid and a beaker for some reason.
Tumblr media
Waddle Dee blinked his eyes. “What happened, Kirby? You look......” “......” “Ah, could it be a Copy Ability......?” Waddle Dee clapped his hands. “Your appearance changed from inhaling Director Kane! But did that director have a special power? He didn’t look strong, not to mention how slow he is and can’t even fly in the sky......” To Waddle Dee in contemplation, Kirby said in a firm voice. “I’m tired of your yammering, Waddle Dee.” “......Huh?” “Don’t be a nuisance to my research.” Kirby emptied the liquid in the test tube to the beaker with a serious look. Waddle Dee was taken aback. “Ho......Hold on a sec......Kirby? What happened?” “Don’t call me so flippantly like Kirby. I’m Doctor Kirby.” “......Huuuuh!?” Waddle Dee sweated. “What are you saying!? Are you fine, Kirby!?” “Call me doctor!” “Y-Yes, doctor......” Waddle Dee became pale and whispered to himself. “What’s gotten into him? Don’t tell me that even Kirby’s under the enemy’s control like Bonkers......” Waddle Dee checked to see how Kirby was doing. With a frown, he would shake the test tube or mix the contents of the flask, but doesn’t seem to have any real hostility. “E-Erm......Doctor Kirby......” Said Waddle Dee nervously. “What is it, Assistant Waddle Dee.” “M-Me, an assistant!?” Although he was in a fluster, he decided to play along with it. “What are you researching, sir?” “You don’t know that and you're still an assistant!? You’re slacking off, Assistant Waddle Dee.” “Y-Yes, I’m sorry.” “Isn’t it obvious? I’m developing a medicine that will make all the foods in the world way yummier.” Waddle Dee sighed in relief. “Thank goodness! He’s just as usual!” “Hm? Did you say something, Assistant Waddle Dee?” “No, nothing.” Waddle Dee turned back and said to himself once again. “He’s not being controlled by the enemy. That’s great......but what use does this Copy Ability have? Only his speech became weird and it doesn’t look like he could use any special powers now......” “What are you murmuring about? Do refrain from whispering In the middle of researching.” “Yes, I’m sorry, doctor.” Waddle Dee turned to Kirby. “Erm......Doctor Kirby, it’s great to make all the foods in the world yummy, but isn’t the research to return Dream Land back to normal also important as well......?” “Oh? I see, that’s what it was. I of all people forgot all about it.” Doctor Kirby tucked away the test tube and the flask inside his white suit. “Let’s see here. We have to restore Dream Land that was reduced to a desolate wasteland to its bygone days and rescue the inhabitants who were brainwashed by the wicked company......that was our lofty mission, Assistant Waddle Dee.” “Y-Yes......precisely, sir.” “Off we go. Follow me!” Doctor Kirby barged into a nearby room. It looks to be the Haltmann Works Company’s reference room. All sorts of data are stored, but not a single employee was to be seen. It was after everyone fled in fear of Kirby the pink native attacking. “We analyze the data, Assistant Waddle Dee!” “Yessir!” Facing the large screen installed on the surface of the wall, Doctor Kirby pushed his glasses up and began operating the control panel at an incredible speed. Before Waddle Dee watching with his breath held, the screen began to shine and projected a complex floor plan. “Hmm, I’ve understood the structure of this building. I knew that this would be the command HQ. The commander is in the main control room just ahead!” “Huh......? You know that much?” “Obviously. Who do you think I am?” “Doctor Kirby......” “Exactly. I am Doctor Kirby, the most ingenious scientist in the galaxy! I can see through anything!” Doctor Kirby broke into a run as he shouted. “Ah, hang on......” While chasing him, Waddle Dee sighed in his heart. (Doctor Kirby......while I’m sure that he can be relied on, I do want Kirby to return back to normal......)

The End Is Nigh(t)
Summary: Princess Elena, Sofia and Hiro head into town after locating Orizaba’s temporary hideout in order to recover the town to its former, day-and-night glory by ending the Eternal Night.
Date: November 2nd, 2018
Triggers: None.
ORIZABA
The feeling of the Night was everything Orizaba recalled it to be: Refreshing, pure and peaceful. If you managed to ignore the dead people running amok. She managed, though, mostly because she was well aware that, after this little show in this little pathetic town, she’d go on to take over those lands taken from her by fearful invaders. And this time around, she’d show them who’s who.
As the invasion of Swynlake seemed to go swiftly, the Goddess of the Night had settled, temporarily, on top of an abandoned but wonderful mansion in what the money-obsessed mundus called The Woods. An abandoned house was perfect because, well, it would appear that nobody had been there in little less than a year. It had all the markings of a beast’s attack, so whoever lived there wouldn’t be coming back soon. Thus, it wouldn’t be easy for people to find her.
Just in case, though, outside the house sat her most trusted sentry. The sorceress’ familiar, an emerald-eyed doe, kept watch from one of the windows, ready to sprint to her mistress as soon as movement was felt. Orizaba knew that it would be technically possible for people to find out her location if they were sufficiently familiar with how her magic or the Eye worked, and she wasn’t about to take any chances.
ELENA
“I. Am. Sick. Of these mother fucking traumas in my fucking life,” Elena hissed to Sofia, channeling her inner Samuel L. Jackson. She huffed and continued her trek to the house Goliath told her was Orizaba’s hideout with what can only be described as pure murder in her eyes.
Elena’s grip on her Scepter tightened, so much so that her knuckles were turning white and her nails dug into her palm. As her nails broke skin, she didn’t even notice the blood. At least in her rage, she had achieved some level of badassery.
Lucia would be proud. She hoped.
“Sofia, I am going to r i p that overgrown moth’s wings off of her and feed them to my cat!” She continued her rant, but in Spanish. “No merciful queen here, not today. This is practice for when I yank Shuriki off the throne of my kingdom by force and make a slip-n-slide from her organs.”
For the Eternal Night? Orizaba deserved an ass-kicking. For possessing her best friend and bodyguard’s body, and for mind-controlling her gargoyle dad into trying to kill her? If Elena didn’t have to send her back to the Spirit Realm, she’d make a guillotine herself for her.
The rage that bubbled inside of Elena was palpable, like you could cut the angry aura around her with a knife.
“Mira, allí. Look up there.” Elena pointed to the rooftop of a house they were nearing. “It’s murder time, kids.”
SOFIA
No one ask where Sofia got the sword, okay?
She held it one hand as she followed quietly behind Elena, keeping one eye on her and Hiro and the other on their surroundings. This wasn’t the first time Sofia’d had to sneak around during a magical attack on her home (Enchancia was cool, not perfect), and she was ready to do what was needed. Even if that meant calming down Elena’s murderous rage before they launched an attack on a nocturnal demon.
“Elena, wait,” Sofia whispered, grabbing Elena by the back of her jeans and pulling her back out of sight as she motioned for Hiro to stop. “Orizaba could have the house guarded, we have to be careful! And we need a plan anyways, we can’t just go in screaming bloody murder.” She lowered her voice. “You still can’t use the Scepter for too long without tiring yourself out. We have to think this through.”
Rising slightly from her crouch, Sofia looked around the grounds quickly before dropping back down again. “Okay,” she said to Elena and Hiro. “Looks like there’s only one of her creatures watching the door. Shouldn’t be hard for us to keep the element of surprise. Any ideas?”
HIRO
Hiro had decided to tag along. He was ready to actually do something to help out, and had the means to do so. It was perfect. He’d even told Aunt Cass that he was barricading at Sofia’s so she wouldn’t worry, because he knew she wouldn’t let this happen.
He followed the other two, and crouched next to Sofia. The young man squinted and managed to see the doe with the twinkling eyes, and the way she twitched her ears in alert.
“I have an idea,” Hiro exclaimed, and readied his arm-cannon-thing (name pending), aiming it at the doe. “We take it out before it sees us, and sneak right in! It’s pretty easy, since I’ve got great aim nowadays. Just let me get this ready…”
ORIZABA
Meanwhile, inside the house, the moth fairy winged around the ballroom, decorating the place with colorful flowers hanging from the rafters and all over the floor. It might be a temporary home, but she still deserved a proper palace to live in!
The doe guarding the entrance, meanwhile, was almost unmovable. She didn’t get distracted, and her emerald eyes constantly scanned the grounds. She hadn’t found anything just yet, and there had been no need to worry - Of course, so far she’d failed to scan the upper ground the invaders had taken refuge on.
ELENA
Elena swallowed hard and eyed Hiro’s...whatever it was, with suspicion. “Are you sure this is safe?” she asked Sofia, before deciding on her own the correct answer to her question was, “Fuck it.”
Fuck it, nothing was safe right now, literally nothing, and worst case scenario, she’ll die by Hiro’s malfunctioning invention instead of die by Orizaba’s hand. Best case scenario? It works and Hiro becomes her new new favorite person.
Perhaps second favorite, behind only Naomi.
She met Hiro’s eye and nodded. “Go for it.”
SOFIA
“Quietly, though. Only if you can do it quietly,” Sofia said quickly, grimacing at the idea of killing the doe. What if it was just like Goliath? An innocent creature under Orizaba’s thrall? But Hiro and Elena were right, they didn’t have the time. “Otherwise we’ll alert Orizaba that we’re here. And try to just... knock it out?”
Across the street and several buildings down, far enough that the doe wouldn’t spot him, Sofia saw Goliath swoop in and land on the roof. Even this far away, she could see his eyes shining white with his anger.
HIRO
“Yeah, okay,” Hiro replied, not really making any promises because it wasn’t that probable that the thing would survive the blast. Or if it did, it would also possibly be crippled in a way that’d have them kill it out of mercy. Still, it was for the greater good, so he took aim and shot.
The doe’s head turned in their direction as soon as the blast had left the machine, but it was too late - as the laser struck its target and Hiro cheered about it, the doe was gone. Its body hadn’t truly collapsed. Instead, it seemed to turn into a cloud of magical dust and swirled around before being carried away by the wind.
“See? It’s perfectly fine. Probably was already dead or something!” the boy suggested.
ORIZABA
The moth fairy kept going about her business, now redecorating her colorful purple dress with even more flowers, when something struck at her heart. It was a light pain, but the source of it became evident when a cloud of her magic traveled into the house and reformed her beautiful, emerald-eyed doe in front of her, as if she’d just woken up.
“I suppose our friends are here, my pet?” she asked sing-songily. THen, the woman’s face turned into a frown as she pet the creature’s head. “I hope they come soon. Nobody harms my baby.”
ELENA
“No…” Elena trailed off, looking at Hiro in a mixture of pride - because that was damn impressive - and confusion, because then was the doe actually corporeal in the first place? “It’s never that easy with dark magic.”
She turned her focus back to Orizaba, perched on the rooftop, surveying the town like it was her own little kingdom.
And then the panic set in.
Shit, shit. Okay so the doe was gone but where did it go? Did Orizaba know they were there now? Why wasn’t she coming down to kill them?
Elena had never battled a dark being from the Spirit Realm before. She tried to kill someone once, in a house in the woods in Germany, when a magick hunter grabbed her baby sister’s arm and Elena acted fast and broke a dinner plate over his head, prepared to stab a shard into his abdomen before one of his buddies wrestled it from her hand.
It worked. Kind of. She didn’t get to kill him, but they left Isa alone.
(Later, when they threatened to kill Mateo, Elena grabbed one of their knives and held it to her throat, told them she’d slit her throat if they touched him, too. ‘Crazy bitch’ they called her. ‘She’s worth more money if we get her to that sorceress alive.’ Check, and mate.)
Elena was no stranger to extreme situations. This, however, was some next level shit.
“What now? Like is Goliath going to have to yeet me onto the roof to get at her?”
SOFIA
Sofia made herself watch as Hiro shot the deer, watched it disappear in a cloud of dust, and felt her stomach drop. She knew animals, magical and benign; none of them do that. It left a rotten feeling in her stomach, her gut telling her that if Orizaba didn’t already know they were here, she would soon.
“Now we move, fast,” Sofia hissed, staying low as she began make her way to the front door. “Hiro, you and I will keep Orizaba distracted while Elena gets in place to attack her with the Scepter. If we can find a way to pin her down, even better,” she whispered as they moved, keeping the sword close to her side in case any more undead tried to sneak up on them (Thank you, Aunt Tilly, for making sure Sofia got started with fencing lessons as soon as she started middle school).
“Elena, do not take the shot until you know it’ll hit,” she told the older woman firmly. “You’ve got at most two shots before the Scepter drains you, do not waste them.”
If they survived, Sofia would have to apologize to Elena for being so bossy. But right now, she was Crisis Mode.
“Hiro and I can take care of ourselves,” she said as she rested a hand on the doorknob, looking over at Hiro and giving him a small, confident grin. “Take advantage of the fact that you’ve got the ranged weapon and stay back. Also, aim for the wings.”
With that, she gave them both a nod and silently pressed the door open, moonlight spilling into the foyer from the windows and doorway.
HIRO
Soon after the doe vanished, the illusion of Orizaba on the rooftop did as well, dissolving into the wind. Her focus was elsewhere, and so the group moved along. Hiro nodded at Sofia and her orders. Why was she ordering him around? He was technically his boss! Well, he’d be whenever his aunt died. ANYWAY! He decided to follow through and made mental notes.
When the door  opened, the interior of the house came into view. It was actually quite a modern house, with a beautiful foyer and a spiral staircase to their left. There was a trashed door to the right, and only the one in front of them seemed accessible. It was also half-open.
“That way, I suppose?” Hiro whispered, before distracting himself by looking at an assortment of hats in the corner, hanging from a perch. Everything seemed to be abandoned.
ORIZABA
It was hard to miss the flashes of purple and green magic that sneaked through the doors and windows every time Orizaba did something new to decorate the ballroom. Her wings fluttered as she moved around the place, as the doe began to move around the room as well.
“Where are yooooou, children?” the woman called out sing-songily, her voice being carried all through the house thanks to the place’s acoustic nature. “Never keep a lady waiting!”
ELENA
Elena wanted to die, sure, but not in a fire fight with Orizaba. She wouldn’t make it quick and relatively painless, she knew that much for sure.
Or, there was the option of the Scepter killing her first, because, apparently that was a possibility. In any case, this was going to be a shit time for Elena - for all of them, but even if they won...Elena.
She swallowed hard and followed them both into the house.
SOFIA
Well, there went the element of surprise.
Sofia held up her hand, stopping Hiro and Elena as her mind scrambled for a new plan. She needed to get close, they just needed a place with good cover. They just needed a moment where Orizaba was distracted.
Oh, her brother was screaming at her somewhere.
“Find your opening, wait for my signal,” she mouthed to the two behind her. With a deep breath, Sofia rose up to her full, unimpressive height - and holding her sword loosely at her side - stepped into the doorway.
“My apologies, Señora Orizaba,” she said in Avaloran Spanish, bowing at the waist. “With the current situation in town with the rise of the undead, I’ve been a bit on edge. I am Princess Sofia Álvarez-Hagebak from Enchancia, I am here to speak with you about the night that has enveloped the town.”
Keeping eye contact with the moth goddess, Sofia set the sword down on the floor in front of her. “I don’t want this to come to violence, Señora,” she said earnestly. “I give you my word as Princess of Enchancia that I will not attack you unprovoked. Please, let’s talk.”
HIRO
You know when people say something to you in a low tone of voice, and you don’t hear a thing because a moth fairy is blasting things in the other room? Well, that was what happened to Hiro right then and there. He wasn’t a lip reader, and was completely puzzled when Sofia stood up and walked inside.
He peeked into the room as discreetly as possible, reloading the arm cannon as he did so as to be able to shoot at whichever point he had to. He then looked back at Elena, nodding at her and slipping through the door. He hid behind one of the pillars in the ballroom while the winged lady was distracted.
ORIZABA
The sorceress was most definitely surprised at the sight of Sofia. Mainly because it wasn’t a princess she knew. It wasn’t a princess Gabe knew either, or at the very least not very well, because she couldn’t remember her face at all.
“Señorita, querida. Se-ño-rita,” the fairy corrected. “I’m only a few thousand years old. So why would I want to talk to you? I was actually expecting a different princess,” she admitted. “I supposed you’re here to thank me for the gift of night, are you not? I’d sing a song about it, but I’m quite busy decorating. Either way, thanks have been given. Feel free to leave now.”
She snapped her fingers, and Gabe’s body materialized in the middle of the ballroom, floating under the chandelier, asleep. “If you see any more princesses on your way out, tell them I have something they might want. Frankly, the sooner I get rid of her, the better, don’t you think?”
ELENA
Here, Elena almost laughed. A few thousand years old and she wants to be called señorita? Ay, ay, ay. Who does this demon from hell think she is? Fancies herself some kind of comedian.
Frankly, the sooner I get rid of her, the better, don’t you think?
Here, Elena tried not to make a peep. Really, she did. But the sharp intake of breath may have been enough to alert the ethereal being to her presence.
SOFIA
Orizaba produced the body of Gabe, sleeping peacefully, and only years and years of practice controlling her expression in court kept Sofia’s eyes from going as wide as dinner plates. She had to get Gabe away from her, or at least out of the way. But first, she needed to stall for time.
(Maybe, a hopeful little voice whispered in the back of her mind, you will be able to reason with Orizaba! Sofia knew better now than to put too much stock into that little voice.)
“Señorita,” Sofia amended. “I do admire the gift you’ve given us, and my thanks are there. But have you thought about the long-term effects this eternal night could have?” Sofia spotted the doe from before - she knew it hadn’t died, damn it - and gestured towards her. “Without the sun, all the crops will die and the climate will be too cold. Even your nocturnal friends will begin to suffer.” Sofia carefully didn’t mention the effect the eternal night would have on humans.
Sofia had a pretty good feeling Orizaba did not care.
“Day and night are meant to balance each other, provide for the land so the other can thrive. What if we were able to find some land where you could create your eternal night, more suited to the conditions? We would be able to provide everything else you needed, including a palace for you far grander than this.”
Did she honestly think Orizaba gave a damn? No. But she didn’t need to. Sofia just needed to buy Hiro time so he could get a shot at her wings.
HIRO (& ORIZABA)
The winged woman listened, arching a brow and showing off a smirk. She reached out her hand to pet the doe. “Oh, you need not take care of me,” she assured the princess. “I can take care of myself. Quite frankly, it’s offensive, that what you’re offering.”
Meanwhile, Hiro found his way closer to the floating woman, sneaking along the pillars and hoping to keep away from her sight. His intention was to get to the opposite end of the room, so the fairy’s attention would divert in that direction and give Elena her back.
“I am Itzpapalotl, the Goddess of the Night and the Sorceresses. Before your darling european compatriots came over and stole my throne, the night was for everyone. We all lived in peace and nature thrived. Then you lto came and ruined it all. Locked me away, just like you did with all the others! You didn’t think we’d be able to ever break out. And now, querida, I’m angry. The animals will thrive. Believe me. But you humans will know what it is to suffer for thousands of years. Believe me.”
With that, Hiro was positioned and ready. He took a shot at the moth fairy and hit one of her wings. It regenerated almost immediately, and her flight didn’t break. “Shit,” Hiro muttered, when the woman turned to face him and cackled. “Oh, you brought a friend. How adorable! I wonder which one of you will be more enjoyable to tear apart...?”
ELENA
Elena was waiting for Sofia’s signal. She was waiting. And waiting.
And waiting.
But before it came, she heard Hiro’s arm-cannon-thingy (name pending) go off, and Elena gripped her Scepter, prepared to leap out and fuck Orizaba’s shit up-! Shit, Hiro said. And not a ‘Shit!’ of victory, but one that said ‘this is bad.’
Elena didn’t move. She was waiting on Sofia’s signal.
The waiting didn’t last but another second, though, for what Orizaba said next set fire to Elena bones. No! It was Elena who wielded the Scepter of Light, it was Elena that Orizaba needed to fight, not Sofia and Hiro. It was Elena who was going to be the one to maybe get torn apart tonight, not two nineteen year old kids who just wanted to help her.
When she spoke up, she used tu verbs very intentionally.
“No! You don’t touch them!” Elena cried out, rushing forward. “Keep your hands and your magic off of them!”
She aimed the Scepter, prepared to go right for Orizaba’s face, but in looking up to fire at her, Elena finally noticed what it was Orizaba had talked about having. Her eyes widened the size of the moon in her horror.
“Gabe! Put him down, let him go!”
SOFIA
You know, this wasn’t the first time a dark entity had monologued at her. Wasn’t even the second.
(If she got five punches on her ‘Facing Down the Forces Of Evil’ card, she got a free smoothie.)
Her proposal had the intended effect of setting Orizaba off, and Sofia waited patiently as Hiro got in position and took his shot. His shot didn’t have the intended effect, and for a moment everything seemed to move in slow motion. Orizaba turned to face Hiro, and Sofia leaned down to scoop up her sword. Elena rushed out from behind her cover, and Sofia was already crossing the room at a run.
Elena leveled the Scepter at Orizaba, and Sofia’s fingers went to her own artifact. The Amulet of Avalor warmed in reply.
“I wish to be able to jump very high,” Sofia whispered to the amulet as she ran across the room, and with her next step, flung herself into the air. It would have taken less magic to transform into an animal instead of making a wish, but Sofia needed to keep a hold of her sword. Instead, Sofia felt gravity let go of her for a moment, and she reached out towards Gabe as she reached the crest of her arch. She grabbed onto his chest as she headed back down, and rolled protectively around his body as they bounced along the floor. Oof, ouch, okay he was heavier than she expected, especially when he was all sleepy and floppy.
Sofia quickly shifted Gabe’s body behind her and hopped back to her feet, ignoring the throbbing in her ribs. “NOW!” she yelled, sword held aloft as she prayed that both Hiro and Elena would take the shot at the same time.
HIRO & ORIZABA
Hiro swallowed when the terrifying fairy turned to face him. For a moment, he wondered whether such a woman would be capable of tearing people apart, but then he decided he had to do all he could to not find out. Thankfully, Elena came in at the nick of time, making the winged lady turn around.
“Ah, the belle of the ball shows up in the end!” Orizaba exclaimed, with a joyful cackle. “I knew you’d come save your friend. Too bad you came in last, though, Elenita. I’m disappointed you didn’t lead the  charge. What would Gabe think?”
The woman dispersed into a hundred moths, and rematerialized near the chandelier, when she noticed Gabe being taken away. She materialized the Eye of Midnight in her hand. “I suppose it doesn’t matter. You can have him. That man has exceeded his usefulness. Now, darling…”
Hiro shot when Sofia yelled, hoping to hit the fairy. However, even though he succeeded, the hole that had appeared in her chest soon refilled itself with the help of the moths, and the fairy laughed. “Shit,” he repeated. “Uh - Elena, shoot the ball-thingy!” he exclaimed, gesturing at the Eye floating near the woman’s hand.
ELENA
Elena’s lip curled at Orizaba saying the nickname with the same strange cadence as post-coma Gabe, and her eyes slowly widened in dawning realization.
“You!” She hissed, the informal pronoun falling from her mouth like poison. Elena aimed the Scepter of Light directly at Orizaba’s chest, prepared to fire, until Hiro’s shout redirected her.
Ball-thingy? Again, her eyes about popped out of her head. “The Eye of Midnight,” she mouthed, near frozen in disbelief. It was the stuff of legends in her country, one of the stories from the ancient Maruvians that first thrived in the land that would become Avalor.  Crazy. It looked just like the drawings by the Maruvians and in Mateo’s grandfather’s books of Maruvian magic legends.
No wonder it had been night for what should have been days. With the power inside that thing…
Right. Aim for it. Three shots before she would exhaust herself, maybe five maximum before she’d lose consciousness. Hopefully she wouldn’t need to get to five in the first place.
Eye of Midnight. Aim. Fire.
“Rayo.”
SOFIA
Sofia watched as she hid Gabe’s body behind a pillar, watched Orizaba dissolve into hundreds of moths and reappear across the room, watched Hiro’s laser punch a hole through her chest and watched her not even flinch.
Sofia probably should have wished for the ability to breathe fire instead. Burn up the damn moths instead.
She saw the Eye of Midnight appear and her eyes went wide like Elena’s. Sofia wasn’t an expert on Maruvian artifacts, persay, but she knew her basics, and the Eye of Midnight was a bad, bad sign. It at least explained the whole ‘eternal night’ thing.
She watched, waiting, as Elena took aim and fired. Hiro’s attack may not have affected Orizaba terribly, but it had distracted her, and the Eye or Midnight went flying from her hand to bounce and roll harmlessly across the room. Orizaba turned to get retrieve it, but never had the chance.
Not with five foot and four inches of angry, sword-wielding princess flying at her face.
Sofia shouted as she leapt through the air, swinging her sword in front of her at just the right angle to cut straight through Orizaba’s arm below the shoulder; moths flying into the air as the arm fell and dissolved. Sofia didn’t let that slow her momentum, her knees crashing into Orizaba’s chest as she began her descent. This time, Sofia kicked off before they hit the ground, landing on the balls of her feet a few yards away as Orizaba was knocked into the ground.
“Hold her down!” Sofia yelled towards Hiro, racing towards the goddess and grabbing onto her legs before she could lift back into the air.
ORIZABA & HIRO
It didn’t take long for Orizaba’s arm to get back in working order, thanks to her ability to rekindle herself almost immediately.Still, it was harder to do things without the Eye of Midnight. For one, her familiar had disappeared for whatever reason, and she was being held down by the girl. Still, the moth fairy did her best to slide in the direction of the Eye of Midnight as quickly as possible.
Hiro jumped in at Sofia’s suggestion, reaching to grab and try to pin down the woman. She kept sliding and her hand was reaching out for the Eye, so he fired a quick shot in that direction to make it roll away further. “How’s an overgrown moth this strong?!” he complained, looking at Sofia, as he put his all on hindering the deity of the night. He hoped Elena would end it, and quick.
ELENA
“Not for long!” Elena shouted, taking aim at Orizaba.
It was harder this time, with Sofia and Hiro on her, because if she aimed too far this way or that she’d blaze a hole through the body of a nineteen year old. Now wasn’t the time to overthink things, though.
Aim, shoot. Aim, shoot. That was all she needed to do, but…
“Rayo!”
A blaze of light shot from the Scepter at the command and flew off into the wall, sending chunks of it and the furniture along it everywhere. Get it together Elena, get it together! Aim, steady, ignore the blood in your eye from the cut you just gave yourself.
“Rayo!”
Miss. Fuck, that’s three shots, she can already feel her energy just being sucked out of her. One more time, one more time. Aim, steady.
“Rayo!”
Blue light struck Orizaba in the chest as Elena’s grip on the Scepter faltered, her arms having gone a bit floppy with exhaustion. Please, please, be the end of this. If she was lucky, really lucky, she could manage a fifth shot, but she’d rather not test that theory out.
ORIZABA
Orizaba gasped when the last bolt hit her. She was in pain, and the hole in her chest was surrounded by moths frantically fluttering around, trying to reform the body. However, Orizaba’s true weakness was the light, and that of the Scepter was particularly possible.
“No, you imbecile!” she exclaimed, turning to face Elena with rage in her eyes.
As the fairy desperately tried to reform, her wings slowly seemed to burn away in different spots. Soon enough, the entirety of her body began to do the same. In that moment, she knew it was then or never. She had to take them all down with her.
Her hands transformed into jaguar-like claws, and her legs did as well. The woman’s previously beautiful face began to morph as well, as she shook off the two kids from her body and leapt at Elena, ready to swipe her out of existence along with her.
“You must pay!” she exclaimed, desperately, as she fell toward the princess… And then, right before doing what she wanted to do, the rest of her body burned out, and only a flock of purple moths remained until, eventually, they too dissipated into the realm beyond the physical.
The Eye of Midnight glowed again, there, on the floor, as the clouds of magic that had taken over the town slowly dissipated to reveal the light of the sun. In the corner, Gabe’s eyes opened, and he leaned up as much as he could, taking in the room he was in, very confused.
SOFIA
Sofia had been counting with Elena, counting down the number of shoots left until she was done for the count, until it was two on one instead of three on one.
She felt one of Elena’s blasts come within inches of the back of her hair, singeing some of her hair. Sofia ignored it, fighting to hold down the struggling moth fairy alongside Hiro. They couldn’t do this forever, and neither could Elena.
The next blast, however, went straight through Orizaba’s chest, and Sofia felt the ripple move through her body. It was odd, after all the zombie nonsense that had been going on, to see the empty hole where there should have been fairy instead. The rest of the woman began to rapidly deteriorate as well, moths crumbling to dust, and Sofia nearly fell through the floor when Orizaba ripped her way free to lunge at Elena. Sofia didn’t even have time to try and grab her, to cry out, before Orizaba burst into a million moths. Soon, those too were gone.
Sofia rolled onto her back, breathing heavily as she tried to process the fact that they had done it. They’d really done it. Orizaba was gone.
Through the windows, Sofia could see the night melt away, and the sky turned from black to the soft, buttery yellow and pinks of dawn. She smiled, letting her head fall back and her eyes close.
One down, one to go.
GABE (& HIRO)
“Elena?” Gabe called out after processing the disappearance of the moth fairy. It wasn’t hard to assume who she was, considering the tales back home. How Gabe had gotten there, though, was another mystery entirely. The last thing he recalled was a fire had broken out in the school and he was on his way there.
Meanwhile, Hiro backed away, gazing at the Eye of Midnight and uncertain of what they should do with it. He decided to guard it while the others got their bearings in order.
ELENA
Elena fell to her knees, exhausted and in pain, and would have just laid flat on her back, too if it weren’t for the little confused, “Elena?” from the distance. Gabe. Gabe was awake, Gabe said her name, and it was his voice and his cadence, and it was him this time, and-
And Elena barely had the strength to get up off her knees, but what kind of friend and surrogate little sister would she be if she didn’t?, and beelined for Gabe.
Her strength and wakefulness were fading fast. She was fighting her inevitable blackout so hard right now, the world was getting heavier, and heavier around her, but it- she couldn’t give in just yet. There was a Gabe to hug.
She dropped to her knees beside him, eyelids drooping, and rested her head against his chest to feel for his heartbeat. There it was. Steady, healthy as far as she could tell, very much alive and not zombified or possessed, just her Gabe.
“I m-missed you,” she sniffled, her weak arms wrapping around him as she stretched her neck up to kiss his cheek. “I missed you much much. I’m s-sorry I c-can’t, I can’t explain right now, I don’t have…”
God, she was fading fast. Stupid Scepter. Stupid Orizaba.
“...have time. Scepter. I’ll ex-explain when I wake up but. I’m sorry, I’m so sorry, Gabe.” Elena’s voice grew softer every few words, her eyelids fluttered shut, then open, shut, then open.
Elena’s hands clutched at the fabric of Gabe’s shirt as she relaxed into his warmth. “Gabriel, you- I just. Te quiero mucho, big brother. I l-love you so much, and I’m s-so glad you’re ba...back. You’re...ba…”
And Elena wouldn’t recall if she finished that word or not, as it was then that the Scepter’s energy drain took her under and she went limp around Gabe, unconcious.
GOLIATH
Goliath could feel the night finally end, the magic melting away like mist in the sunlight. For once, he welcomed the pain that came with the sunrise as his body twisted and broke and reset into his human skin. He felt his chest, the soft skin that gave and moved under his fingers. His blunt, human nails on five human fingers, his heels flat on the ground.
He looked up at the dawn, the sky painted in a wash of colors, and breathed.
He’d had the sense to drop back to the ground before he lost his wings, and he didn’t feel any sort of tug on his mind as he made his way into the house where Orizaba had made her temporary home. The whole house smelled of bear, but Goliath ignored it; instead making his way into the room where the four humans were left. His eyes immediately sought out Elena, breathing out in relief when he saw her safe - albeit, passed out - on top of a confused Gabe. Sofia was strewn out on the ground, catching her breath, and her friend Hiro was standing next to her, watching…
Goliath approached him, smiling at his former student. “I’ll take care of that,” he reassured Hiro, kneeling down and accepting Sofia’s weak grin and fist bump as he picked the Eye of Midnight up off the ground. Even without Orizaba around, it called to him, and he considered it for a moment before putting it into the pocket of his sweatpants.
After helping Sofia onto her feet so Hiro could help hold the young princess up, Goliath crossed over to Gabe and Elena. He smiled gently at Gabe, resting a hand on his shoulder for a moment. “Good to have you back, son,” he said before looking down at Elena. He easily scooped her small body into his arms, grabbing the Scepter and resting it across her lap. He then turned his back to Gabe, helping the young Royal Guard onto his back.
“Let’s all get home,” he said softly. “Whatever is left, we can deal with tomorrow.” For the sun would rise and set as it should, and slowly, the world would turn back to normal.
(Across town, deep in the forest, the Cauldron shuddered.)

Jackieboy-Man Angst
Jackie was wandering around the house, with Marvin in his hands, he was humming a nice tune although Marvin didn't know what it was. The Magician had put himself under a shrinking spell since Jackie had pretty much came into his room and begged him to do so, of course Marvin didn't mind at all... Being in his lover's hands wasn't all that bad, although of course being small did have cons... For one, not being able to do what you normally do but two, when you have an evil glitch demon running amok then problems could definitely arise. Jackie then set Marvin on the table and sat down on a chair "Are you alright Marv? I wasn't walking too fast was I?" And there it was... the overly concerned hero. Marvin merely smiled "Jackie, please, don't worry so much about me, I'm fine" He honestly adored how overprotective and overly cautious the hero was, it was kind of adorable to the magic man. Jackie sighed "I'm sorry Marv, its just... well you know... I know I asked you to turn yourself small but I just feel way more overprotective than usual" Marvin walked over towards the hero's hand and gently placed a kiss upon it "Jackie, its alright... I can understand why you are so overprotective of me, you just don't want me getting hurt is all" Jackie smiled and raised a finger, he gently stroked Marvin's head and down his back "Yeah... I could never stand to see you hurt" Suddenly, one of the tinies came over, giving a wave to Marvin mostly "Hey kitten~ How are you doing today?" Jackie rose a brow, k i t t e n? Since when did this tiny get to call Marvin that? ...Maybe it was just... a natural thing, he shouldn't get so jealous right away. Marvin's face was red "O-Oh goodness..." How was he supposed to respond to t h a t? He slightly glanced at Jackie, he was prepared for the jealousness from the other for damn sure "I'm...fine?" ((Warning these will be some of the cheesiest and dumbest flirty lines BUT it'll somehow make Marv blush because the poor dude is easily flustered)) The tiny grinned and gently took ahold of Marvin's hands "You're so hot even my pants are falling for you~" ...They hoped that wasn't too far, honestly this tiny just wanted to poke fun, plus they knew how much Jackie could get jealous so part of them wanted to test the hero. Jackie grumbled and glared at the tiny, meanwhile his hand returned to Marvin immediately, stroking the magician's head and back again in a much more loving manner. Marvin's face turned absolutely red, oh god he was going to overload if this kept happening "Uh...." He... He was at a loss for words, he just stood there and looked around every-so-often. The tiny smirked and kissed one of Marvin's hands, they'd never kiss him on the lips of course they didn't want to take it THAT far "Do you have a map? Because I keep getting lost in your eyes~" Jackie growled a little bit and put his hand in between both the tiny and Marvin, after awhile of countless pick up lines... When the tiny kissed Marvin on the cheek he had just completely lost it, he stood from his seat "That's it!" His tone was... much more aggressive than usual, and the tiny seemed to realize it "W-Wait Jackie I was just-" Before they could finish their sentence... ((Warning again: Things miiiighttt be bloody/gory, just a lil advisory if you don't like that stuff)) Jackie slammed his fist into the table where the tiny stood, if he used anymore strength the table would have collapsed, he looked absolutely enraged, his eyes were even glowing. Marvin's eyes were wide, his mouth agape at what he just saw... Jackie just... "JACKIE?! WHAT DID YOU DO?!" He looked away, he seemed almost close to vomiting upon seeing the... remains of the tiny. It took the hero a moment before his eyes widened ...what...what HAD he just done...? ..Oh god... He just murdered an innocent tiny, sure they were flirting with Marvin but they were probably just messing around! They... They couldn't even defend themself from him if they tried, tears began to well up in the hero's eyes... He was a murderer now... He shakily retracted his hand, staring at the remains that was once a tiny... Oh god... He just couldn't anymore, he broke down where he stood, he broke down into pure sobs and began to mumble 'I'm sorry' over and over. Marvin bit his lip, it still hurt to see Jackie break down like that but he was just... too terrified to approach, after all if the 'hero' did something like that to another tiny then why would it be any different from Marvin if HE made Jackie angry? Marvin just couldn't... believe what just happened, Jackieboy-Man, the sweetest and most adorable dork who could never really hurt a fly had just... The Magician shuddered, he was petrified now, especially when the hero stood. Jackie was shaking, he looked horribly ill as he turned towards Marvin, noticing how his love flinched at even just that... "M...Ma...Marvin... I..."He made a slow move towards the other but winced upon hearing the magician scream. And just like that, Marvin was gone in a poof of smoke, that made the hero's heart shatter completely, he just couldn't... His own l o v e r was scared of him... He quickly dashed into his own room and sat on the bed, breaking down into cries and sobs once more. He just couldn't stop thinking about it... or seeing what he had just done... He could practically h e a r that tiny's screams and pleads... He couldn't cry much harder than he already was. He could hear their little voice echoing inside his head "Why...? Why did you kill me?... I....I was just... messing around... I didn't mean too..." Jackie could just s e e it... He could f e e l it... He could h e a r Marvin's screams, his sobs, his pleads... Worst of all, he could feel the other's bones crunching under his fist, he could feel Marvin's smashed and mangled body... This broke the hero's heart completely, he couldn't stop crying or sobbing, at this point he was just h a t i n g himself, he was no better than Anti, he wasn't a hero, he was a m u r d e r e r... He could easily hurt Marvin or w o r s e... He was enjoying every sob and cry the hero made, it was so s a t i s f y i n g... Jackie sobbed as loud as possible "I....I... M...Marvin... Please... I don't.... I didn't mean too..." Anti smirked and cleared his throat, it had been awhile since he mimicked one of the other's voices "Keep away from me, your not a hero, your.... your a... monster! Why?! Why would you m ̴̀u ́̀r̡ ̧͞͠d̛ ͝e̸ ̀̀͟r something so small.... so.... f r a g i l e?!" He yelled, in Marvin's voice... He still had the gift for damn sure. Jackie's eyes were very wide as he stared over at... Anti...? No...Marvin? What the hell was going on?! "Marvin please... I'm...sorry... I didn't mean to kill them... It..." He was cut off by 'Marvin' "It was just what?! An... An A̵ ͜Ç C̶͡ ̕I͘͢͠ ͝͡͞D̡͢ ̵҉É̡̢ ̡N ̶̛͜T͠?͏! You can't make any excuses for this! Your just a monster! Stay away from me! And with that Jackie's heart shattered into a million pieces, he couldn't say anything now all he could do was cry and sob some more, meanwhile Anti was cackling "̷M͢͝'҉̡͝ ̴̶wor͏̷͞k͘ ̴͟h̷̨́e̛͠͡r̕҉e҉ ̨̀i͢s̵ ̛̛͝d̢ ͠o͘͘ ̴̢͞n̡͜ ̶e͠͡.́͟.̨.͘͡ ̧E̷nj̀o͘y͟͏͏ ̀͞҉th̷̡'̢ ͟r̨̡e̸͜s҉ţ̛ ̧͘o̕͟f̵̴ ̛y̕er ĺ̸į̕͘f҉̀e͠ ͏m ư͠ ̢̕̕r̨ d ̧͡e ͏͏́r҉͢͏ ̧e̷ ̕r~̶̴"̀ And with that the glitch was gone... Leaving Jackie to cry and sob. A few hours had passed... Marvin was wandering around again, he was still small since he had no more growing potions, he'd just have to wait until he got more ingrediants... He glanced at Jackie's room... He bit his lip as he stared at it. He couldn't help but advance towards it, he heard nothing from inside so he decided to poof on in there, what he saw inside had h o r r i f i e d him... Jackie was curled up in a ball on the bed, hoarse sobs coming from the hero, from what Marvin could see Jackie looked absolutely ill, at this point he was worried he'd have to call Henrik, what's worser... On the walls... All o v e r the walls was written 'It's all my fault' and now it was Marvin's turn for his heart to shatter. Now sure he was still scared of Jackie but he just... couldn't STAND to see this, he had to do something, he quickly poofed closer to Jackie "H...Honey...?" Jackie blinked and unfolded himself, oh goodness... He looked... horrible, like he hadn't slept, ate, or drank in m o n t h s, he looked almost like well Robbie in this case, a zombie basically. "M...Marvin? I...I thought... you... wanted me to stay away from you... I...I thought you... didn't wanna be with me... an...anymo...re..." His voice was incredibly hoarse. Marvin tilted his head "What? I never said any of those things...?" He was... confused, he never said that! "I could never stop loving you... even.... even if you did something bad earlier, we all do bad things in our lives, some really bad some not as bad... Hell  I've done bad things before myself..." Jackie blinked "Wh...Why? I'm a murderous monster... Why would you even want to be anywhere near me?... I'm no better than Anti... He... even told me so his self... and its true..." and with that he got a tiny slap across the cheek. "You stop that right now, you don't murder for some sort of sick pleasure, you don't torture, you don't do ANY of the stuff Anti does, you are NOTHING like him." Marvin sorted... regretted just slapping him like that, he was still partially afraid and rather tense around Jackie. The hero was silent at all that, which made Marvin back up a bit, he hoped that little slap didn't anger him... He just... couldn't help but be a LITTLE afraid it'd... just take some time to get over... The more Marvin thought about Anti the more he realized... Jackie said something about Anti telling him... His eyes widened, he realized what had happened... Anti can mimic the other ego's voices... Oh he would definitely give that glitch a 'piece of his mind' later "...Anti was the one that said all that in MY voice... I know he did, Jackie you know I'd never want to leave you or think your a complete monster..." Jackie bit his lip "...I.... I'm sorry... I just... I want to take what I did back earlier... I want to take it all back..." He moved a bit closer to Marvin but immediately stopped when he saw the other flinch "..." Marvin sighed "Jackie... I'm sorry for flinching it's... just going to take some time to get over this... And I know... You want to take this back, but there really isn't a way to do so... What's done is done... But, that doesn't mean we can't move on from this... We all make mistakes, we just need to learn so we don't make them again" Jackie nodded "Don't be sorry for flinching... I would too if I was you... And your... your right... I just... I can't ever forgive myself for this though, a hero isn't supposed to do this... A real hero doesn't murder people who can't even defend themselves... That's... That's a villain and I...I don't want to be a villain Marvin... I really don't..." Marvin looked at Jackie, he couldn't help but feel bad for him "I know you don't Jackie... I know... And you don't have to be, you can still be a hero, you just have to keep trying..." Jackie nodded once again "Your... Right... ...C'mon let's go get something to drink n eat how about it?" He made no move to try and hold the magician.... He just stood up when the other nodded. ((I know this is a HUGEEE ass timeskip but let's face it, it'd take a LONG time to get over something like this I mean even then they aren't fully over it so just bear with me on this one)) ~Huge Unspecified Timeskip for various plot reasons~ Marvin was breathing heavily as he collapsed onto the ground, he was still small of course but suddenly Jackie picked him up and sighed "Marvin stop it right now, your going to keep on until you use up all your magic" The Magician huffed "Well I've got things to do that require magic, I can't just... rest now..." He was still breathing heavily "Now KINDLY put me down Jackie" The Hero looked over at Marvin "C'mon babe! Look at yourself! I'm worried about you! Soon enough you won't be able to stand if you keep all this up!" and of course Marvin replied rather...angrily "I can handle it just fine!" Jackie immediately raised his hand, not because he was going to do anything violent, oh heavens no! more so because he was animated when he spoke "Marvin-" Before he could finish he heard the magician scream and saw him recoil "DON'TCRUSHMEPLEASEI'MSORRY!" There was complete and utter silence... You could practically hear a pin drop at this point, Jackie's heart was about to shatter all over again as he set Marvin down and gently crouched in front of him, he reached out as SLOWLY as he could, biting his lip as Marvin took a step back, he set his hand beside the magician and used his forefinger to gently stroke Marvin's head down to his back, he was being as GENTLE as possible. "Marv... Honey... I...I'd never do something like that, I...I'm sorry its just... I wasn't raising my hand for anything like that its more so an unconscious thing I do... kinda just... please... calm down, I'd never do anything like that to you nor would I want to make you uncomfortable... I love you way too much..." Jackie spoke softly, trying to hide the fact that one sentence broke his heart... Marvin bit his lip "Jackie... I... I'm sor--" He was cut off "No no, don't be sorry... I...I get it... I do..." Jackie watched as Marvin climbed onto his hand, the magic man sighed "Can we pretend I... never said that?" Jackie sighed but nodded and smooched Marvin carefully "Y-Yeah... Of course..." That’s it, it's ok, it was all ok. He was safe. He would be safe. He was loved and he was perfectly safe. ((used a bit of TYA's sentence there to end this, mostly because it-- honestly fit-- well  I suppose I should be explaining how this happened, so I was talking with a lovely friend aka @tiny-yan-anon (please dont kill me for tagging you in this very very sad and gut wrenching angst) but well anyone who reads this just look on their blog and it should explain where this came from-- that and check them out in general bc they’re p great-- also forgive me, my angst skills are pretty damn rusty oh and one more thing))
Happy Birthday dear Jackie.... Happy Birthday dear Jackie... Happy B i r t h d a y d e a r  J a c k i e b o y - M a n... Happy Birthday to youu~
