i think there’s something to be said about paramore’s first release since 2017 being about consequences, perception, anxiety and language.
when hayley sings “this is why i don’t leave the house” she never directly elaborates on what this is—it’s very purposefully (i think) left open to interpretation so whoever is listening can insert their own this without having to elaborate to anyone else. hayley has her own this, zac has his own this, and taylor has his own this. they share a few this’ and some of them are completely unique to each band member. “you say the coast is clear, but you won’t catch me out” can resonate with anyone again depending on what their this is and what coast they need to be cleared to feel safe to exit their safe space. hayley also doesn’t nail down what people should do with their opinions—their language—but she does suggest that you can shove it, scream it, or keep it depending on what it is meaning: use discretion before you speak (something far too many westerners in particular never learn how to do even into their old age moving on).
this is why orbits around this very real anxiety of experiencing consequences for (insert your own reason the song is neutral in certain aspects for a reason) and being perceived. hayley is out minding her business near the water when suddenly she’s aware that she’s being filmed, zac is restless even in his “home” bc he is constantly surveyed, taylor is having a peaceful (?) reflective moment on the roof and then there’s a camera and some people there like. even in the “middle of nowhere” they can’t get away from the media. and the scenes where the camera is the only thing watching them and the people are gone are so fucking important because even having a device that can record them around without someone to control it is unsettling for all three of them. they feel like they always have to perform and be on for others.
“one step beyond your door, might as well have been a free fall” is straightforward as all living fuck but it still hits. when hayley falls out of her “home” (where she appears to live alone and even has a completely different hairstyle from her classic red in the rest of the video and “draws her lipstick wider than her mouth” fake happy enthusiasts are living their best lives) there is no one there to catch her. when the scene cuts to taylor and zac, they catch her not once but twice. whenever they’re around, they always make sure to help her up again. and when the “filmmakers” (the media) record zac and taylor catching hayley, they tell them to do it again, and the band kinda just stands there for a moment like “why?” hayley fell because she was struggling with something, zac and taylor helped her stand up again, and now the media wants a replay, they want a recap about something possibly extremely personal with more details. the first time the boys catch hayley, it’s a darker close shot. the second time, it’s a lighter distanced shot. depending on who’s watching, it could look like anything. this is why hayley doesn’t leave the house, kids.

CARMEN (2023)
Starring Melissa Barrera, Paul Mescal, Rossy de Palma, Elsa Pataky, Nicole da Silva, Tara Morice, Richard Brancatisano, Benedict Hardie, Kaan Guldur, Nico Cortez, Pip Edwards, Tracy "The DOC" Curry, Corey London, Ryan Oliver Gelbart, Kevin MacIsaac, Zac Drayson, Morgan Smallbone, Damien Thomlinson, Darvin Dela Cruz,        Alejandro Corsino and Marina Tamayo.
Screenplay by  Alexander Dinelaris Jr. and Loïc Barrère & Benjamin Millepied.
Directed by Benjamin Millepied.
Distributed by Sony Pictures Classics. 116 minutes. Rated R.
There is a certain risk to adapting – no matter how loosely – classic works of art.
Benjamin Millepied’s Carmen is only tangentially based upon Georges Bizet’s classic opera of the same name. Some of the basics of the storyline have been held onto, and the fact that music and dance are of great importance to the film, but in most other ways this new Carmen is a very different beast.
And sadly, it is a much more disjointed, eventually slightly disappointing one. It is often striking visually, but the action is often muddled, the music (which is original, only very slightly derivative of Bizet’s opera) is unmemorable and the characters and their situations are fairly unbelievable, despite a spectacular performance as the title character by Melissa Barrera (In the Heights, Scream).
By moving the story to the Mexican border and adding themes of immigration, racism, crime, violence and doomed passion, you would think Carmen would be much more intriguing than it ends up being. Instead it seems overwrought and melodramatic – which I suppose could be expected with something based on an opera. However, it doesn’t even settle into its melodrama in an interesting way.
Carmen is a gorgeous dancer in a dusty, backwater area of Mexico. Her mother is also a dancer, and once had escaped to the United States to follow her dream of dance. Now mother sacrifices herself to give her daughter the opportunity to escape the violent drug cartel which is on her trail and to track down her mother’s best friend, who still runs a dance hall she had started with mom over the border.
While trying to sneak across the border, Carmen is captured by two border patrol officers. One is racist and violent, the other kind and understanding. The kind one is Aidan (Paul Mescal), a Marine who is instantly taken by the gorgeous Carmen. When his friend attempts to kill her in the name of “border security,” Aidan goes on the run with Carmen to find her new home.
They end up crashing with her mother’s friend Masilda (Rossy de Palma), a fellow dancer who still runs the dance studio she opened with Carmen’s mother years earlier. However, Carmen is having trouble deciding between her dream of dance and her passion for Aidan. In the meantime, Aidan is suffering from PTSD from his time in Iraq and is trying to figure out how he could care for Carmen as a fugitive from the law.
Sadly, it all sounds much more interesting than it turns out to be.
Part of the problem is that you really never buy into the relationship between Carmen and Aiden. It happens too quickly, too completely, which I suppose is sometimes how love goes, but still it doesn’t really work as a narrative choice.
Therefore the good parts of Carmen – the atmospheric world, the sensual dance, the searing performance by Barrera – end up being overshadowed by the clunky and manipulative aspects of the film.
Plus, there is not a single song in this “musical” that is anywhere near as arresting and tuneful as “The Toreador Song” from Bizet’s original.

Fever Swamp II: And the Legend Continues...
Hey there, Edward Scissorhands. It's time to start our final Goosebumps comic story! You knew we weren't getting out of this without some goddamn werewolves. I don't think that's a spoiler, it's well-known that one out of every five Goosebumps works is a werewolf story. Another one in five is a Slappy story nowadays, but I digress. This one's also gonna run a bit longer, so settle in~
Here's the cover:
Tumblr media
This is a fantastic cover to start off with right from the start. You get your protags all in a row. You get your antag right in the foreground. (This is also why I don't think the werewolf thing is a spoiler~) A nicely wooded forest, a bit of the pink sky still leaking in from our last story... But this time, I think it works to the cover's advantage, because it uses a less cartoony art style. Does that make sense? Probably not. Also really dig the character designs here. Cool girl in the middle, Quinn Morgendorffer on the right, big hair on the left. Good stuff~
So we open with our protagonist Blake (the middle gal, with the green top and prosthetic arm) playing some kind of fantasy MMO. You can tell whoever wrote this doesn't actually play multiplayer online games, because every player on the scoreboard is listed as just a single real-world first name. It's just "Lily", "Zac", "Marie", "Eden". Nobody's named anything like, say, Bonerlord420 or DarkfireTaimatsu. I also dunno if MMOs have leaderboards based on number of "challenges" completed, but Blake is only three positions away from the number 1 spot when her aunt calls her to dinner.
As usual, this story has started with Blake moving in, if only for the summer. She's not too bugged, because she's got Lore Hunter to play and online friends to talk to. This is suddenly the most relatable protagonist. Aunt Camila promises to introduce her to a girl down the street who also plays the same game, but Blake isn't super interested. Auntie won't let her stay inside all summer, though, because otherwise we wouldn't have a book. And that's when the bombshell drops: the place she's spending her summer? It's the town of Fever Swamp, just like the classic Goosebumps book.
Next morning, Camila takes Blake on a tour of the town, pointing out all two of the local establishments. They end up at the other girl's house, who turns out to be both the red-headed girl with braids on the cover and also Lily, the top player on the Lore Hunter leaderboards. Lily, in turn, recognises Blake (which is probably why real MMOs have usernames), and neither is intimidated by the other. So obviously they're going to become friends. And likewise, she has other friends to introduce Blake to, because we gotta introduce the cast as soon as we can.
So our third protagonist is Cara, our big-haired girl from the cover. She's out having a picnic at the moment, and she even has a Switch with her. She probably doesn't play Popular Fantasy MMO, at least. The pair of them decide now is the best time to educate Blake on the local gossips and rumours: monsters. The swamp is probably full of them. Heck, you can hear howling at night sometimes. Cara is not in the mood for monster hunting (though I think that one is on the Switch), but Blake isn't afraid of any ol' local rumours. Blah blah blah, "she should be"~
So that night, Blake prepares a backpack and sneaks out. Because of course at night, it's hardly exciting to look for monsters in the day when you can see them. Blake and Lily meet, mentioning Cara definitely isn't coming, and trudge into the swamp. Lily is determined to prove something lives out here, be it monsters or a mundane explanation like wolves. After a few pages and a jumpscare by a small groundhog or something, Blake starts to suggest they head back--only to be cut off by Lily screaming. She's screaming because she's shined her flashlight directly on a werewolf.
Here we go with another setup. The characters are pretty likeable, if a little cut from the same cloth. Like, so far the main difference between Blake and Lily is that Lily is number 1 on the leaderboards and Blake is number 3 (and also has a prosthetic arm). Heck, let’s talk about that. What’s good is that we barely have talk about it. It’s called attention to all of once, when she meets Lily, and Blake herself notes it doesn’t impair her gaming. We’ll have to see how it’s treated in the rest of the story, but it’s rare to see a character with a disability like that, especially in children’s media, so we’ll have to keep an eye on it. Anyways, even with this being a longer series (five issues instead of three this time) and having a longer time to devote to character stuff, you knew we were gonna get to the werewolves by the end of the issue. What did you think we came here for~?

Brittany Howard Album Review: What Now
Tumblr media
(Island)
BY JORDAN MAINZER
The title of Brittany Howard's second solo album is a question we've all likely asked, many times, perhaps to nobody in particular. It's evocative of a state of exasperation after, or perhaps even during, an overwhelming event, shared or personal. For Howard, she found herself asking, "What now?" a lot during the pandemic, a time period after which she had received heaps of critical acclaim for her debut album Jaime but also recently moved from New Mexico to Nashville after a divorce. As such, the songs on What Now are inspired by the desire to not simply live in the moment during chaos, but to make moments for herself. It starts with "Earth Sign", a song Howard wrote to manifest a partner. "Out there, there's a love waiting for me," she sings, her vocals layered, over piano, bowls, and Nate Smith's jazzy drum pitter-patter, sounding as far away as ever. As the song builds into a sort of stadium soul, upbeat and burbling, Howard ascends, shouting, "It's nearly there!" In real life, she did find love after writing the song, after all. And on the album, she similarly constructs a world for each song, ones that show how much she can soar when not beholden to a singular sound.
Co-produced with Shawn Everett and using all analog instrumentation, What Now nonetheless at times sounds otherworldly and cosmic, with instrumentation to match Howard's pained falsetto. She determinedly weaves through and along with the instrumentation, reaching out to grab whatever life has in store for her. On the title track, her vocals follow her buzz-saw riffs as she sings, "You're fucking up my energy / I told the truth, so set me free," channeling her passion into chugging funk and ready to take on whatever comes her way, continuing, "If you want someone to hate, blame it on me." Howard wished for "Red Flags", meanwhile, to purposefully sound cold, a foreboding warning to herself and her tendency to ignore the predictable nadirs of relationships. It succeeds greatly in intent of vibe, with Brad Allen Williams' off-kilter tremolo guitar chords flailing atop Smith's skittering drums. When Howard screams "Don't let it die" later in the song, you can hear her desperation, so badly wanting something bad to be good.
In fact, some of What Now's most successful songs come from Howard seemingly at war with herself. She slaps bass on "Patience" alongside former Alabama Shakes bandmate Zac Cockrell, creating a funk rhythm slow-burning enough to emulate her agonizing desire for a relationship to move faster. She repeats, "All we need is a little patience, girl," but the third time through, cuts off the statement, as if to make you wait for everything to come to fruition along with her. Even more stunning is jazz/hip-hop hybrid "Samson", a classic "Should I stay or should I go?" song that features a rolling drum beat and reflective-sounding trumpet from Rod McGaha. Towards the end of the song, Howard seems to be leaning towards leaving, heartbreakingly alone in the mix when she sings, "It's getting harder not to disappoint you." Her sentiment introduces an outro of meandering and circular trumpet and guitar, a sonic interpretation of her state of mind.
Howard may never stop wondering what's around the corner, but she knows better than to speculate. "I am having the time of my life," she sings on fried funk jam "Another Day". It's why much of What Now, even when subdued, sounds so immediate. Four-on-the-floor banger "Prove It To You", bolstered by an incredible band performance highlighted by Smith's propulsive beat and Lloyd Buchanan's stabbing keys, lays it all out at the club like Howard does in relationships: "I've never been any good at falling in love / I fall so hard I never get up," she sings. And on the surface, it may seem odd for What Now to close with the realist and depressive "Every Color In Blue", but Howard's inclusion of a song where the impending rain is "all out of rainbows" makes the moments when feelings are high all the more monumental. And when the songs ends, you want to press play on the album again, to experience her highs and lows with her for another round.

Your Musical Theme
Music is a huge passion of mine. I love how music can take you back to time or place and you associate those feelings or experiences with certain music. I personally love all genres of music and am always open to listening to something I haven’t heard before.
When creating this playlist, I tried to stay in the overall theme of that warm climate place you maybe live in or travel to from time to time. For me it’s my home in Florida this is where I grew up, so I am no stranger to a beach playlist. I tried to compile songs that relate to that overall theme, but I tried to pull from multiple different genres. I chose 6 songs from the rock, hip-hop/rap, country, and electronic genres.
Starting with the rock songs, I have two. First is the song “In the summertime” by Mungo Jerry. This one might be a little obvious why I chose it for my theme of that warm climate destination. But to elaborate this song personally reminds me of that scene in movies when the characters all come together and just enjoy the time at the lake or at a pool and nothing matters, you’re just purely enjoying each other’s company and the summertime. To further paint the picture of summertime the opening lyric of the song is “In the summertime when the weather is high you can stretch right up and touch the sky” this makes me imagine a perfect summer day not a cloud in the sky. The song is also just fun it’s a fun instrumental and the lyrics are so catchy anyone can sing along. The song is also from 1970 a time I was not around for, but I can still appreciate this great tune!
The second rock song I chose is “Island In The Sun” by Weezer. This song came out in 2001 and has a strong guitar presence in the beat but again the lyrics are super catchy! If you put this song on the next time you go to the beach or the pool, I bet anyone close enough to hear it will sing along! The band sings “when you’re on a holiday you can’t find the words to say all the things that come to you, and I want to feel it too on an island in the sun” this snippet is the first verse and then the first line of the second verse. This about sums up most people’s tropical vacation traveling to that warm destination just enjoying being in the sun!
Song number 3 is none other than “Summertime” by Will Smith. If this summer classic isn’t on your beach playlist, I would highly recommend it. It is considered a rap song and yes Will is rapping but it is laid back and the beat is dare I say groovy. This song takes me back to the moments on the beach with loved ones while the sun is setting, and the day is coming to an end. This song to me just perfectly matches that vibe and setting.
Taking us to song number 4 which is “Summertime Magic” by Childish Gambino. Has the theme become clear yet? Like the Will Smith song this is song screams sunsets in the summer at the beach with your friends. The song with grab your attention right from the start with those steel drums that stay in the beat for the duration of the song. The childish Gambino comes in with his vocals again so catchy and groovy. With this song you can’t help but dance. Coming from someone who can barely clap on beat I can’t help but dance to this song I seem to lose control of my shoulders and hips once this song comes on.
For song number 5, I chose “As She’s Walking Away” by Zac Brown Band. This is my country pick for this little playlist. Now country has never been my favorite genre but there are a small group of songs that you’ll find in my library that are considered country. This being one of them I think this is great and fun song that all of us can relate to. The lyrics are about someone falling in love and contemplating what to say and what to do as they pursue the love interest. The summertime is a great time to meet someone or travel with your significant other. My favorite line is “Don’t be fallin’ in love as she’s walking away” this is kind of hard to avoid because sometimes we are paralyzed by love but it’s more important to share your feelings with that special someone.
Taking us to number 6 the final song in the playlist I’m going with “Sun Models” by Odesza. This is an electronic song but there are lyrics, however they are kind of faint throughout the song I personally connect with and appreciate the beat more than anything. This is the song you listen to driving home windows down music turned up loud and the cool wind whipping past you, but you’re kept warm by that suntan you just got from your beach day. It is the perfect song to end a night on!
So, this my playlist, short and sweet with the overall theme of those summertime moments in the sun shared with the ones you love the most.
Please find the links to all of the songs mentioned above below. :)

hello here are some questions for you for funsies <3
do you have a favorite book/book series?
what was your favorite movie growing up?
have you ever met a celebrity?
do you collect anything?
what's your favorite cryptid?
what's your favorite color?
how many concerts have you been to? what was your favorite?
ong yay. these are so fun. ok
is it too on brand to say the twilight series. bc it’s true. but i’m also a big fan of classic poetry (keats, shelley, etc) that makes me feel seen in ways i’d rather not dwell on. perks of english majorhood lmfao
OK my fave movie growing up was 1000% the high school musical movies. i can still recite the first one almost word for word and at one point i had everything (choreo, script, lyrics, mannerisms) memorized for the first two. hsm3 was when i was a little older (like 9 i think) so i wasn’t as heavily into it (bc i got into Grown Up things like charlieissocoollike on youtube and mcr a few years later LMAOOOO) but i still adore her and think of the can i have this dance scene so often. and the scream choreo. zac efron rly did a handstand.
i met mikeyway when i was at work one day <3 and i’ve met a couple of older celebs in the country music industry bc of what my uncle and dad do.
i do!! i collect snow globes of everywhere i’ve been :3 when i was younger i collected webkinz (i literally had 50 something) but then i hit 13 and was like I Am Adult and threw 90% away and i regret it so much (note: if u have a lil kinz mouse c. 2008……hiiii my address is-). i also have a small collection of squishmallows. OMG CDS!! i collect cds but i don’t rly consider it collecting bc i listen to them in my car and on my cd player so it’s just like…a means of music playing? even tho i have prob 100 cds. lmao.
AAAAAA i love nessie!!! also bc i’m from around the area sorta, bigfoot :) i also adore sirens but i don’t think they count as cryptids as much as folklore but that line is veeeeery wobbly.
atm my fave color is green :) not the gross vomit green but a lovely sage. perhaps evergreen. and also pastel greens like mint. seafoam!! and neon!!! i also loooove orange atm! the softer orange like sunsets and not the mean orange :) i love tangerine orange, the orange that the mac n cheese crayola crayon is….yeah <3
omg. i’m not counting the ones my family has performed in (again, uncle and dad lol). i’ve been to probably 20-30 shows? give or take? my fave is mcr nash. also 5sos in 2016 but mcr nash takes the cake 100%.
this was so fun!!!!

Spoiler Warning for like almost all of the second episode of Starstruck Odyssey
OKAY SO I have no one I know who watches/cares about this and the first episode was hard enough but I've gotten to a certain point where I need to express my fucking bullshit internal monologue at all this nonsense so I'm sending it into the Tumblr void, starting with:
IS HIS REAL CHARACTER THE FUCKING PARASITE IM GONNA SCREAM
Rip anyone who was really attached to the Skipper lmao
I can't believe everyone was like wow, Zac is getting to unleash his inner cunt, just like with Lapin, he's breaking the mold from his usual character type- NO! xD we get that for one episode then back to lovely, slightly off but very amicable characters, Zac cannot play just a straight asshole for an entire campaign it's physically impossible the universe won't allow it
God they know, they KNOW the skipper has been body-jacked or some shit and they do not give a single fuck coz by god that funky lil parasite is so much nicer xD
The value of kindness my dudes lmao
"Can we have *insert ridiculous and/or dangerous thing here*?"
"OkAy" *shrugs*
"Roll an insight and deception check against yourself"
Ally: 'do a hotness roll?'
Brennan: *does a hotness roll, winces*
Brennan: 'shes stunning'
'im not gonna brush my teeth tonight just to feel something'
'i psychic dump ✨the feeling of being myself✨ onto you'
'i want to be able to want something without needing someone else to want it too and without thinking of a practical reason'
Cool welp I'm gonna go cry in a corner but everything is fine, Emily how dare you.
Take a shot everytime Brennan says 'want' if you want to die of alcohol poisoning
'gunnie doesn't really own anything because anything he owns is taken by the people he owes money to' LOU IS2G MAN
Do you think like the D20 team were seeing all that love for Skipper after the first ep and just 👀😅 because they knew the second episode was basically just gonna be 'yeah so actually he's a dick, fuck that guy'
(Like I ain't mad at it personally tbh, I think loveable assholes should be loveable in the context of the universe they preside, not just from an outside perspective and like I get it was only one episode but he wasn't seeming too loveable tbh with the way things were going)
Parasite!Skip just saying 'youre important' to Margaret?
IM SOBBING, I love him
You gotta love the like classic 'abstract alien perception' thingie Brendan and Zac have going like, "there is a build up of some internal secretion in your lower appendages" Brennan, my dude, my guy, what the FUCK does that mean xD
Brennan: "You can see your eyes are getting kinda bloodshot"
Zac: "Oh am I forgetting to blink?"
Brennan (who definitely meant he's getting tired): 👀😈 "give me a check to find out"
THE SECRETION IS LACTIC ACID IN HIS QUADS COZ THE DUMB BITCH HASNT SAT THE FUCK DOWN
I love this, truly a crew full of dumbasses and Margret who is I think getting dumber by association, yes, this is how it should be
YES SID! ENJOY YOUR EXPLOSIONS BABY I LOVE YOU!
Right on!!!
I could listen to Mr Mulligan describe fantasy planets all day man, yes please tell me more about the blood red gas giant with swirling diamond dust I'm utterly enamored with this good good visual imagery caressing my brain
(channels Zelda) YES 👏 SID 👏 FEEEEL 👏 IIIIIITTTT!!!! 👏
I would fucking die for Sundry Sidney my poor baby (ಥ﹏ಥ)
Margret's Reddit account:
One post of really important whistleblower documents totally exposing her company and calling for a revolution
Another post (only a day after the first one) that is just a neck down nude selfie
*Guy selling sandwiches asking if Riva has a mouth and a butthole*
The cast: oh no it's a sex thing!
*Guy coming to the conclusion that Riva can eat a sandwich*
The cast: oh, it's a… sandwich thing?
Someone teach Riva about lying please, the poor babey
Put your tongue AWAY sir (can't believe I was saying that to Lou and not Brennan xD)
(Not that Brennan kept his tongue in this this episode, I think I'm just desensitized at this point)
Gunnie on a high is a delight
THE 'MY FARTS SMELL AWESOME' CLIP FROM THE TRAILER WAS HIM COVERING FOR AN (EXPENSIVE) PERFUME BOMB THAT SID UNLEASHED!?
'we didn't take names coz we didn't ask them'
The commitment to them all making it so much worse. I've never seen a group of people collect so many disadvantages on their rolls by just being unapologetically ridiculous
The sudden fucking SWITCH between them all cry laughing at the table and then Brennan saying that one thing about the Barrys and Murph's face just drops, all signs of joy VANISHED
Okay I know we've never met this Princeps Zorch but I think Margret should date them
OH!? Lucienne is nearby? 👀
JUST THE THREE OF THEM CLOBBERING A GUY THAT HASNT EVEN HAD A CHANCE TO STAND UP
He managed to make one (1) dramatic threat then they all fuckin beat the shit out of him xD
Episode ends and their ship is still utterly fucked, beautiful
If I sounded insane this whole time i blaming it on the fact that the episodes released at midnight for me

At the start of 2020, Louis Tomlinson had just kick started his solo career off proper – his debut album ‘Walls’ was released in January and he performed two dates of his world tour before the COVID-19 pandemic hit and every other date was either postponed until next year or cancelled. Fans of the former One Direction star were gutted (of course) but their happiness has been restored as Louis played his first virtual gig last night.
You might expect that a virtual concert consists of just a singer and their band sat in an empty venue, right? With no lights or affects, and in a way it looks ‘boring’? Well this was the complete opposite! The classic Louis red lighting and the strobe lighting almost made you believe that you were actually there in real life!
Louis walked out on stage with his new haircut – it’s a lot longer than what fans were used to seeing. Has he been spending too much time with Harry Styles, who knows? He kept things casual in a laidback £22 Reebok t shirt which is now sold out in every single size due to Tomlinson’s influence.
He then kicked the concert off (15 minutes late may I add – fans are convinced that he wanted to watch the football) with ‘Just Hold On’. This is a song he originally produced with Steve Aoki and is more of a dance record, a bit different to the indie sound he is now leaning towards. But, he adapted the four-year-old record to his new style and it was a great surprise for fans – especially to kick off the livestream.
He then continued to sing ‘We Made It’ and ‘Don’t Let It Break Your Heart’ – two new songs from his album ‘Walls’. He then followed these tracks into a classic One Direction song ‘Drag Me Down’. Fans from all around the world went crazy about this – nothing beats a One Direction member singing a One Direction song in their solo career (well maybe a reunion would beat this).
Later on in the show, he sent fans into a frenzy when he performed two more hits from his boyband days – ‘Through The Dark’ (arguably an extremely understated song) and ‘Little Black Dress’ – a song that Tomlinson has expressed is one of his favourites and as he has previously said: “And remember if it’s by One Direction and it’s a banger I probably wrote it”.
But of course, he did sing his solo songs. Hits such as ‘Habit’ echoed through the screen of thousands of fan’s laptops, phones and TV screens and you can almost guarantee that they were all screaming along to the iconic lyric “Come so far from princess park.” Louis also poured his heart out in the song ‘Two of Us’ – a song dedicated to his late mother Johannah.
He also performed a brand new song which shocked fans when he released the setlist earlier that day. In ‘Copy of a Copy of a Copy’ Louis sings “You won’t be the first or be the last to bleed, every broken heart as far as I can see is a copy of a copy of a copy” and fans are already demanding it is released as soon as possible. He also sang a cover of ‘Beautiful War’ by Kings of Leon and fans are hoping that it will be available to stream soon.
Fans are going crazy for the new song, Twitter user @Jailboyhamirah said: “Cause of death: Louis Tomlinson singing copy of a copy of a copy.” which just shows the light hearted banter the fandom has and it also shows how excited they truly are.
The rest of the songs performed were just as great as the others, you could hear the excitement and happiness in this voice as you could tell he was just so happy about being back on stage. You could just tell he was in his happy place doing what he does best.
In the final song ‘Kill My Mind’, the screen behind Louis showed some lucky fans singing and dancing along behind him. This was a great idea – it gave fans a chance to perform with their idol and it made it feel even more like an actual concert. It was also a great ending to the livestream and made saying goodbye a little bit easier.
We also need to thank his musicians – if it wasn’t for them the concert wouldn’t have been as good as it was and they were all so incredible. His band is made up of Michael Blackwell on the guitar, Steve Durham on the drums, Matt Dinnadge on bass, Isaac Anderson also on guitar whilst the keys are played by Zac Craner. We also need a moment of appreciation for the brilliant string players that accompanied some songs and of course, the brilliant crew that made all of this possible for us fans.
Like always, Tomlinson’s fans don’t do anything by halves. ‘LOUIS TOMLINSON’, ‘THANK YOU LOUIS’, ‘LITTLE BLACK DRESS’ and #LTLivestream was trending worldwide and when tickets were released, the site crashed almost immediately. This is also the biggest show that Veeps have ever streamed before.
The virtual concert has also raised funds for the touring industry along with four other charities that are close to Louis’ heart – FareShare, Crew Nation, Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice and Stagehand.
Louis shared a message on the screen after the concert that said: “Thank you to every single person who helped make this livestream possible.
“Without my band, my crew and team, live shows just wouldn’t happen.
“The money raised so far from this show will help some important causes, so a big thank you to everyone for tuning in.
“I can’t wait to see you all on tour soon!
“Stay safe, Louis x”
This concert allowed fans to see Louis performing – he was in his happy place and he was able to give fans a taste of what his future concerts will be like, all being well. It also gave a chance for fans to connect and watch a concert all together – no matter what corner of the world you’re from.

Harry Styles does not scream Ken to me at all. I see Zac Efron but is he too old for that role?
Zac Efron isn’t classically handsome to me at all

Summary: Y/N is a young actress; already one of the most known in the industry, She started out on Marvel, playing Feuer (Foi yer) Stark, the adopted daughter of Tony Stark; now with that coming to an end, she is ready to start a new chapter in her life. Who knew it would all begin with a livestream?
Word Count: 3,840
Masterlist
A/N: Sooo, I have no idea what the hell “camp” means for the Met Gala so I am stealing the Zac Posen dress (big one that lit up)  from the 2016 one as Y/N and we are just going to act like Zendaya isn't there so they don't clash (love her to death tho, she’s queen) and I wanted to do a Social Media part for this chapter so please go with it ;) thanksssss, enjoy xxxx
“Whatcha mean you have never had Joe’s Pizza?” Your eyes wide as you stare at the tall Canadian in front of you. “You’ve been to Manhattan how many times? This is unacceptable.” Shawn laughed but let you drag him into the pizza joint. Shawn had just arrived in New York last night; he called earlier today to take you up on your offer of showing him New York. With him, was his best friend Brain and a few of his other team members, including Cez and Josiah. You also decided that your team deserved a day out and they joined as well.
The day was spent running around the city like wild teenagers. Going to all the basic places, like Time Square and the Empire State Building. You also stopped by the World Trade Center memorial, as no one has seen the masterpiece created. You showed them the small, hole-in-a-wall shops that you loved as well as the hidden park that barely anyone knew about. The group even walked along the Brooklyn Bridge, but that was photo aesthetic purposes mainly. However, it was almost 10 o’clock and everyone was hungry, so it was time to hit up your favorite pizza place.
“This better be the best pizza of my life.” Shawn said as the group filed into the small restaurant. You scoffed.
“Trust me. It’s amazing. Classic pizza.” You replied as you waited in line. Shawn stood behind you, his chest lightly brushing against your back. Each of you have been a bit touchier; the reuniting hug lasting long and random ones throughout the day also, with hands brushing against each other’s constantly.
“Oh my! Y/N!” Joe, the owner, exclaimed as you came into his sight. He rushed around the counter and gave you a friendly hug. You smiled at the middle-aged Italian man.
“Joe! You are a sight for sore eyes.” You said as you pulled away from the man. He rolled his eyes at your compliments but still smiled. He turned his attention to Shawn, who stepped to the side to give you some space.
“And who are these lovely people?” Joe asked, his thick accent more noticeable, as he scanned the small group.
“This is Shawn.” You introduced before continuing for the rest of the group. “They are also here for the Met.” You explained. Joe shook hands and introduced him. Joe returned behind the counter, placing an apron around his waist. Everyone placed their orders and went at sat more towards the back as you waited.
“I take it you come here a lot?” Brian asked, referring to the reunion that seemed like two old friends reuniting after years apart. Chris laughed, almost mockingly.
“Oh, you have no idea. Anytime we are in the city. And I mean, every. single. time.” Chris explained dramatically.
“Hey, is not that bad.” You defended yourself and all of your team stopped to give you a deadpanned look. You pouted but nodded your head. This was an addiction for you. You thought. The next few minutes was filled with random chatter across the group. Everyone having their own small conversations.
“So, Mendes.” You started and he turned to you, a look of amusement in his eyes at the use of his last name. “Any new music coming?”
“Wouldn’t you like to know?” He teased.
“There is then! No one is suspicious unless something is happening.” You observed. Shawn laughed.
“How many investigating shows do you watch?” He mocked.
“Many.” You proudly smiled. The two of you laughed as pizza was set in front of each person at the table. You rubbed your hands together, grabbing the slice and biting into it. The taste of heaven filled your taste buds. You looked at Shawn as he bit into his own slice, waiting for his reaction. He looked at you from the corner of his eyes and chewed slowly to mock you.
“Alright, that’s pretty amazing.” He said finally, and the rest of the group nodded in agreement as everyone chowed down.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++
Everyone decided to come back to the penthouse your team was staying at. The small group was formed around the living room, deciding on what movie to watch. Since you were picky about what movie is picked, you were in the kitchen making popcorn for everyone and gathering other snacks.
“Need any help?” Shawn asked from behind you.
“You can get some drinks.” You laugh as he salutes before making his way to the fridge. He grabs a variety of drinks and places them on the counter.
“Thank you for today.” Shawn said after a moment of silence. “It meant a lot that you let my team come with us.”
“Of course. They work their ass off for you, I know mine does. They deserve fun, random days in the city.” You waved you hand in dismissal. “Besides, you friends are awesome. I had a lot of fun with them today too.”
“Just them?” He asked, stepping closer to you until he was inches away.
“Well, I guess you played a part in it too.” You whispered. A small, soft smile appeared on his face. The two of you just stood there, chest to chest now, in your own little bubble. His eyes going back and forth between your lips and eyes. One of his hands gently grabbed your hip, pulling you as close as possible while the other made its way to cup your cheek. His thumb gently brushing it. Finally, Shawn begins to lean into you.
“What is taking so long?” Chris yelled from the living room, causing the peaceful bubble to burst. You sighed in annoyance.
“Coming.” You softly yelled back. Shawn’s hand dropped from your cheek, but before he stepped away, you kissed his cheek. “Soon, Rockstar.” You promised before stepping away and gathering the popcorn and other snacks, making your way into the living room. Shawn stood there in a daze for a moment, before smiling big. Soon.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
The next afternoon could be described as one thing and one thing only. Hell. Everyone was in a frantic frenzy, running all over the penthouse. It didn’t help that you were exhausted from the all-day outing yesterday and late-night movie marathon that took place after. Apparently, you could not just watch one Harry Potter movie. Nope, it had to be three.
Now here you were, sitting on the couch, slowly drinking your second cup of coffee. Already knowing you would be needing another one. Everyone else in the background, setting up everything needed to make you pretty. And judging by the reflection you saw in the mirror; it was going to be a challenge. There was even a camera from Vogue here filming the entire process.
“Uh, what are you doing?” Stacy all but screamed. She didn’t even let you breathe before continuing. “We have 5 hours until you have to be walking across that carpet, and it is going to take an hour to get you in the dress and out the door and you are just sitting there, drinking coffee? Ass, shower, now”
“She took my coffee.” You whispered to Angie. Angie patted your shoulder.
“I’ll make you another. Go shower before she comes back.” You did what you were told because no one wants to face Stacy’s rage. Once you were out of the shower and into a robe, Chris led you to the makeup chair. It was like a swarm of people immediately getting to work. Simultaneously, Chris started drying your hair, Stacy start doing a skin mask to prep your face and your hands was pulled as your nails started getting painted.
“Do not touch your face.” Stacy instructed as she finished applying the mask. You nodded and began scrolling through social media to pass the time. A minute later, however, you phone started ringing.
Curly-Haired God is requesting to face time. Those words sent you into a slight panic since the two of you almost kissed last night; since you promised him it would happen soon enough. Oh, and your face looked like a monkey splatter mud all over it.
“Hey.” You finally answered. Shawn paused, trying not to laugh. “Don’t laugh at me. Stacy pretty much threatened me to do what she says.”
“I’m not laughing at you.” Shawn said, but you see his mouth twitching. However, he didn’t even try to hold it in, and his laughs filled your ears. You rolled your eyes but smiled. He had such a cute laugh.
“Was there are reason you called, Mendes?” He finally stopped laughing but his smile was still there.
“Yeah, did you know we are sitting at the same table?” You got excited.
“Wait, really? Oh my god, sweet! Who else is sitting with us?” You asked.
“I only know Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth.”
“We are going to have a dope ass table.” You concluded. Shawn nods in agreement. However, the moment was ruined by non-other than Stacy.
“Say goodbye.” Stacy said. You looked at her and pouted. “No, no, no. Put those eyes away and say goodbye, we have to get you ready.” You nodded.
“I’ll see you later?” You asked.
“How will I find you?” Shawn teased.
“Oh, trust me, you won’t be able to miss my dress.” You smirked before waving goodbye and hanging up. Stacy began taking off the mask as Crystal got all the makeup ready. You other hand started to get painted as well. Now, you simply leaned back and let yourself get pampered.
++++++++++++++
“Is it too late to eat something?” You were ignored by every single person as the small army was getting you into the dress. It was truly beautiful. It was a Zac Posen design; it was a light, sky blue gown that flared out passed the waistline. It was your own Cinderella dress. The best part was that it completely lit up, but it also made it a struggle to get in, so nothing shifted.
Your makeup was done amazing perfectly. Y/E/C standing out at the dark, navy blue eyeshadow that surrounded it. “I want to be a Targaryen” was all you told Chris about your hair and he did not fail. It was loosely curled into waves and had a complex braid wrapped the back. Stacy came over with the famous baby blue jewelry boxes.
“These are beautiful.” You gasped as Stacy started placed the three-layered choker around your neck before placed another one, that was thicker and almost looked braided, right above the other. A series of diamond, ring bands were wrapped around your fingers; all random widths. You decided to do simple, small studs for earrings. The last piece was a bracelet that resembled the three-layered necklace. All the pieces were very elegant but simple, so the attention isn’t away from the dress. Angie held onto you as the see-through high heels were placed on your feet.
“Are you nervous?” The Hailey, from Vogue asked from the side.
“A little. These kinds of things are a really big deal. I’m always more nervous for the publics comments because I don’t ever want to be like out of theme or anything. The critics and even just general people are really judgement if you don’t fit the theme.” You explained “But I completely trust Zac and I am in love with this dress.”
“Who are you most excited to see tonight?” Hailey asked.
“Kim Kardashian West. I love her and she is a really good friend of mine. She actually called me like a week ago because she found out that Zac was my designer, so she was really excited to see what I was wearing. I’m excited to see her because she is the cover girl and she’s wearing Mugler, who is amazing.” You answered as you gather some things you would need for the night.
“Alright, we need to be out the door now people.” Angie said.
“Let’s go to the Met.” You smiled at the camera before carefully walking out the door.
+++++++++++
The flashes were constant. Shouting was coming from every direction as you made you way down the pink carpet. You’ve been on the pink carpet for about ten minutes now and so far, everything was going great. You weren’t going to light the dress up until you got closer to the end of the carpet. Thankfully, the photo portion doesn’t last long.
“Y/N! Oh my god. Hi” Liza waved from her spot mid-way up the stairs.
“Hi.” You greeted once you were in front of her
“Wow. Okay, look at you. So, tell me about what you are wearing.” She said after a moment of fangirling.
“It by Zac Posen. It really is just incredible. I told him, jokingly, that I wanted to feel like a princess, but he made that his inspiration and added his own twist to it. Look.” You said, before pressing the small button on the side of your waist. The entire dress lit up softly from the blue lights embedded inside it. The crowd from behind instantly gasped in shock at the new feature of the dress. More people trying to get more pictures.
“WOW.” Liza gasped. “Now, Endgame has premiered, we won’t spoil anything, but what is next in your career?”
“I really don’t know.” You honestly answered. “I’ve been acting since I was 10 years old and I am forever grateful for everything that has happened to me and how amazing the whole MCU has been and what we created. I am looking forward to a break where I get to just travel where I want and be with my family and friends; if I find a project along the way, then that’s great.” Liza nodded.
“Well that sounds like a great plan. You really have made a great name for yourself and anyone would be lucky to have in their movie or show.”
“Thank you so much.” Her attention went behind you and before you could turn to see what she was looking at, a hand gently laid on your back.
“You weren’t wrong when you said I couldn’t miss your dress.” Shawn said as he came into your line of vision. You smiled as you looked him over. Damn, he looked good. Like really good.
“You look great. Your hair! Let me see.” You said, grabbing his head to turn his head to the side so you could see it better. “I love it.”
“Thanks.” He blushed. “You are absolutely stunning.” The two of you completely forgot about Liza and the camera, simply staring at each other with soft smiles.
“It’s great to see you again, Shawn.” Liza said, breaking the silence. You stepped away slightly.
“Sorry I should keep moving, it was nice talking to you Liza.” You bided goodbye to her before turning to Shawn. “I’ll see you inside.” With that, you walked away, heart beating uncontrollably. Unknown to you, Shawn’s eyes didn’t leave your retreating figure until it was out of sight. Damn, she looked breathtaking.
Inside was even crazier than the carpet. Everyone’s attention turned to you as you walked in. It was quite nerve-racking but what else would you expect when you were literally glowing. As you made the way to your table, you stopped and mingled. About every 30 seconds, someone approached you, designer and celebrity.
“This is fabulous.” Kim said as she approached you. You smiled as you looked over her outfit. It was gorgeous. The silicon dress fitting her like a glove, the jewels representing water droplets.
“Me? Look at you.” You gestured. “This is amazing. How can you even breathe?”
“Oh, I can’t. And I am praying that I don’t have to pee because this corset isn’t coming off for a while.” She laughed and you with her. “I can’t help but wonder, what is going on with you and Shawn Mendes?”
“I don’t know what you are talking about.” She just gave you a look. “Ugh, I don’t know. He’s so sweet and funny, and god, have you seen him? Don’t get me started and when he performs?”
“What are you waiting for then?”
“The right moment, I guess.” You shrugged. Kim smiled.
“Trust me, the right moment doesn’t happen unless you make it.” You were silent for a moment. She was right.
“When the fuck did you get so wise?” You laugh.
“Law school changes you.” She joked. The two of you got some photos taken by one of the photographers before parting ways. Finally, you made you way to the table you were assigned too. Miley and Liam were already standing near it.
“Thank god, I haven’t sat down in like 2 hours.” You said after greeting them. The three of you sat down and began talking about random things as you waited for everyone to settle and the event to get started. A few more people joined the table, most your recognized. Shawn took his seat next to you, his hand brushing against your back once again. He greets everyone at the table before turning slightly to face you.
“You really do look stunning.” He whispered as the event started on the stage. You blushed.
“Thank you.”
The night continued on. Dinner was served and conversation were held. Cher did an iconic performance that sent everyone into a buzz. Now, you were slowly going through the museum gallery, looking at all the pieces. Hailee Steinfeld was walking next to you, taking about random things or what you liked in the gallery.
“A certain tall, Canadian hasn’t stopped looking at you.” She commented.
“You are the second person tonight to mention him.” You comment back. She grinned.
“Well, I’m not one to believe social media but you two look like you’ve got some chemistry going on.” Hailee explained. You didn’t say anything back, just smiling as you continued to walk the gallery.

If you thought earlier was hell getting ready, then you were wrong. Everyone rushed around you once again to get you ready for the afterparty. Finally, though, the dress was off, and you could breathe; mostly in relief that you didn’t ruin the dress. As everyone got what they needed, you went into your room to have a minute alone. It didn’t last long before you phone rang though. You answered without looking to see who it was.
“Hello?” You answered as you laid back.
“Hey.” Shawn’s voice softly came through. Immediately, you could tell something was wrong by his tone.
“Are you okay?” You asked softly. Shawn let out a shaky breath.
“Actually, I know it’s a lot to ask but is there any way you wouldn’t want to go to the afterparty and maybe just hang out? It’s just my anxiety is kind of getting to me and-“
“Shawn, of course we can just hang out.” You interrupted. “It’s not at all a lot to ask.”
“Thanks. I’m really happy you said that because I’m in the lobby” He shyly said. You laugh.
“Come on up. I’ll tell everyone.” You make you way back into the living room after throwing on leggings and a big hoodie. “Hey, I’m not going to the afterparty.” You said loudly, making everyone freeze.
“Uh, what?” Angie asked.
“I’m not going to the afterparty. Shawn is coming over to hang out.” You said as a knock sounded through the room. You quickly answered it, seeing Shawn standing there in a hoodie and sweats. You opened the door wider, gesturing for him to come in.
“Thank you, again.” Shawn whispered. You grab his hand, hoping to give some comfort.
“You don’t have to thank me Shawn.” You led him towards the living room. Everyone was still standing where you left them.
“You’re really serious?” Chris asked. You nodded. “Okay, less work for us.” Chris shrugged before placing the comb down and threw himself on the couch. You laughed before leading Shawn down the hall, into your room.  He sat on the bed as you stood in front of him, still holding his hand. Despite the size, it fit nicely around your own.
“Are you okay?” You asked. He nodded.
“Just a lot of people at the Gala, lots of questions.” He explained. You stayed quiet. “Actually, there was a lot of questions about you.” He confessed. Your eyes widen.
“You too, huh?” You laughed lightly. “This can wait. How about we order some food and maybe finish that Harry Potter marathon?” You suggest. Shawn smiles and nods. You call in the food as Shawn gets the movie started. While he was distracted, you rush and grab all the blankets you can find.
“Let’s get the movie night started.” You throw the blankets on top of the soft giant that laid across the bed. You lay down next to him and pressing play on Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Grabbing the blankets, you lay them all across the bed, snuggle under them. No words were said, both entranced by the movie you’ve seen many times but it’s a work of art.
“Here’s the food.” Chris quietly said, placing the two pizza boxes, an order of wings, and a cookie down on the bed. He even brought plates and water for you. You smile in thanks before he walks out. Shawn laughs when sees pizza.
“You really are always down for pizza, huh?” Shawn asked, as he sits up and grabs one of the boxes.
“Always.” You reply before grabbing a slice of your own and a few wings. The two of you ate and watched the movie. There was no pressure to talk; you were just enjoying each other’s presence.
You lay back down after eating as much of the food as you both could handle. This time, closers than before. The next movie began playing when Shawn shifted closer to you. You smile lightly before making a bold move and placing your head on his chest, snuggling into his side. Shawn sighed in content.
“What did you mean when you said, “You too” early?” Shawn asked. You tilted your head to look up at him.
“A few people asked me what was going on between us.” You explain, shrugging.
“And what is going on between us?” Shawn asked, looking down at you.
“All I know is, that I like you too much for it to be a friendship.” You confess. His eyes widen in shock but light up.
“What is I told you it was mutual?” He asked, smiling. You sit up and turn so you are facing him. His had grips your hip slightly, just like the previous night. Unlike last night, no one interrupted you. Your lips met his. Your hands cup his face as both of his move to wrap around your waist. This kiss was soft and sweet, nothing rushing either of you. Only pulling away when you needed to breath. He rested his forehead against yours, softly panting.
“Can I do that again?” He sweetly asked.
“I’d be upset if you didn’t.” He did and it was better than the first.
