So I was watching TAZ tiktoks and I saw the user @yesichangedmynamesorry had this idea in a comment section about an AU where Taako dies from the poisoning of Glamour Springs and Sazed takes his place in the campaign.

It immediately intrigued me and I thought about what it would look like if June offered him the Temporal Chalice and...well here you go!

Balance!AU - Espresso Coffea

The first of the seven birds— the sparrow who sings along with the swallow.

Espresso takes the place of Taako in Balance!AU. Hailing from the Creme Republic, Espresso spent his life dedicated to his research on transmutation magic. One day, he heard of a nearby town being burnt down to the ground without warning. Being curious, he set out and investigated, only to learn it must have been destroyed by an extremely powerful magic weapon. It was this discovery that would lead him to joining the Bureau of Balance.

I was thinking of how to make Blupjeans more “in my style” since I’ve drawn them plenty before, but then I remembered I have this sketch from (JEEZ) April 2021 that I still really liked, so I cleaned it up a little bit for this request! Hope you’ll like an extremely on-brand Blupjeans as pokemon trainers :-)!

PS. I don’t have quite the brain juice atm to write down my HC for them as trainers, but if you’re interested feel free to drop any asks about it and I’ll answer when I have the time!

Merle is introduced after Caroline’s greenhouse heart event - after the cutscene the player may click on a large bush in the corner and (similar to Krobus) a startled Merle emerges. You’re given dialogue options to either convince him to move somewhere else or keep squatting in the greenhouse. Random dialogue options include him searching in vain for Scuttle Buddy, sweet-talking the tea plant, and attempting to convert the player into a worshipper of Pan.

Magnus lives in the Adventurer’s guild and offers two services: Pet-walking (increases the players <3 with pet) and Protection in the mines (carries the player home if knocked unconscious, guarantee no lost items or medical bills). 2+ Heart Event is him coaxing Dusty (Alex’ dog) out of his pen with a treat. 4+ Heart Event is helping him name his new goldfish! Name options: the lord esquire goldfish, Steven q fletcher the goldfish, steven the goldfish. 8+ hearts with Magnus and he mails you a “questionable fried unicorn.. horn?”

Taako works part-time as the chef for the Pirate Bar on ginger island, and occasionally shows up to work at the Stardew Valley Saloon. When given fried calamari he sighs wistfully and exclaims “brings back warm memories” with a wink. Random dialogue options include him asking if a gift is secretly Gogurt, asking for directions to the wizard’s tower and explaining that he can’t have someone stealing his thunder. When given a Dinosaur egg he inexplicably cries “DUPREEEE”. He eventually teaches magic in the community center (library section) to the kids and the player if cajoled

AU where Lucretia doesn't go through with her voidfish plan, so Lup is eventually found and Faerûn is left to their Relic War, leading to eventual shenanigans such as:

Faerunians figuring out the Grand Relics have a power source, and trying to extract fragments of the Light of Creation for other uses

Faerunian movement to fuse the Grand Relics (opposed because people are like "that's gonna be a superweapon idiot") (the Starblaster crew secretly contributes to this opposition without mentioning what else combining the relics would lead to)

Faerunians trace the Relics back to the Starblaster crew, creating drama

Angus McDonald traces the Relics back to the Starblaster Crew, creating some kind of problem

Faerunians trace the Relics back to Miller Labs via some comedy of evidence errors due to them working together, the Starblaster crew has to step up

The characters who use the relics in canon still do that, but they're working with more knowledge of the item + everybody else also can recognize it, which changes how the arcs work, if they happen at all

Faerunians figure out certain properties of the Relics, like the fact that you can only semi-safely use them if love motivates you, and managing to contain them / create strict usage regulations (or like, they try - the Relics make it very hard for this to work)

Faerun discovers Bonds and the crew has to watch a vaguely terrifying parallel to their own world unfold - Miller Labs has the crew's data on planar systems, they've figured out Bonds, and Oh Shit, You Could Make a Spaceship Out Of This

Balance!AU - Latte Coffea

The second of the seven birds- the swallow that sings along with the sparrow.

Latte takes the place of Lup in Balance!AU. Latte spent her life dedicated to helping those she cared for, especially her younger brother. Whether that be by just sticking by his side in their childhood, by adventuring with him, or by helping him even in his darkest days, she swore she'd always do what she could. Perhaps though, that's a sentiment long gone, for she's been missing for years.

loosely based off of this poll. sorry, this got away from me. i was a theater kid for years (i still am, i literally made a bunch of friends larp as wizards two weeks ago)

Davenport: Producer and Stage Manager. Personally more experienced in opera than musicals, but answers the call when the need for a manager arises. Keeps everyone focused and on schedule. Has final word on what choices the art department gets to make. Sometimes does solo performances on his own time.

Merle: Choreographer and Director. Leads the ensemble into meditation every rehearsal before warming up. Talks with each member of the cast one-on-one. Sometimes leaves the script open to interpretation. His artistic vision sounds bonkers in concept, but illuminating in execution. Why are there so many plants? Don't worry about it.

Magnus: Lead Actor and Set Builder. He brings the energy every single night. He doesn't need to be micc'ed up because his natural voice projects well enough. It takes a bit of time for him to memorize the script, but he devotes his heart and soul to it. He claps loudly for the ensemble when he's in the wings. He cries at the emotional numbers. Built all the sets by hand.

Lucretia: Co-stage Manager and Supporting Actor (not for lack of chops, only because she spreads herself very thin.) Knows the script like a second language. Mainly reserves her Director Voice for backstage when things get chaotic. Enjoys performing the musical numbers because no one knows she can belt, until she does. Standing ovation girlie, but bashful about it.

Lup: Co-lead Lead Actor and Costumer. Only willing to do the role if Davenport lets her include cold sparks and fog machines in the set budget (he finds a way.) No one knows when she took measurements for the costumes, but they're ready by dress rehearsal and they fit perfectly. Helps the other actors figure out their groove. Great at engaging the audience.

Angus (special edition): Child lead and stagehand. The sweetest little singing voice you ever did hear. Everyone is going to rue the day his voice starts cracking. A heartbreaker of a performer and a speedy backstage assistant.

Taako: A MYSTERY. He's wearing a fancy scarf and roaming all over the place. He's talking about the Art of the Theatre. He's listed on the billing of lead actors and NO ONE knows what his role is. He remembers all the little things that everyone forgets: clothes pins, a hot glue gun, and electrolytes. He's got a walkie-talkie. Only the managers and tech are supposed to have walkie-talkies. Hello, this is Taako speaking, over.

Barry: Usually Tech. He's got a beautifully choreographed queue of lighting designs and stage effects. He's got an immaculately labeled pad controller and a ready-to-go Excel spreadsheet. But on opening night, Lucretia informs him he's in the orchestra pit.

Barry: ...But I'm lighting tonight.

Lucretia (via walkie-talkie): And our percussionist twisted his ankle tripping over a stage light. You're in the orchestra now, compadre.

Barry: (with increasing emphasis, decreasing conviction) But. I'm. Light. Tech.

Taako: E N T E R T H E P I T B A R O L D

Davenport: Taako, get off this line.

During intermission, Magnus asks him to help lift the ensemble dancers onto the set scaffolding, and hold it steady. Barry agrees, thinking he's in the clear after that. But the second the music number ends, Merle tells him that one of the support roles had to leave, so now he's the understudy.

Barry (longsuffering): I am just. the light guy.

Merle (gesturing to Taako in the balcony, having a ballgame playing with the lightboard): well, in two minutes you're the showstopper guy, so you need to go out there and stop the show

Lup (emerging from nowhere, slapping a red, hooded robe on Barold's shoulders): Knock 'em dead!

Barry: D:
