The trial of a young bot

This is all just concept story. This scene might not be included in the comic.

In the Metroplex court, the atmosphere was tense as Bumblebee's trial commenced. The young defendant, his sanity plummeting to a chilling --0, sat in the courtroom, a disturbing presence that sent shivers down the spines of those present. The defense attorney, a bot inexperienced in handling such a complex case, nervously shuffled through his datapads, uncertain of how to proceed.

Judge Alpha Trion, sternly: "This court is now in session. We gather here to address the charges brought against Bumblebee."

Bumblebee sat slouched, his optics dull and empty, a stark contrast to the vibrant and spirited young bot he used to be. Kup and Barricade, representing the law, exchanged concerned glances, understanding the gravity of the situation.

Defense Attorney Mirage, hesitating: "Your Honor, I... I'm not sure how to proceed. The circumstances surrounding this case are unprecedented, and my client..."

Judge Alpha Trion, cutting in: "Proceed with the charges, then. We'll determine the course of action as the trial unfolds."

The charges were read aloud, recounting the heinous acts committed by Bumblebee against Prowl, the kidnapping and the 30-hour torture. The gravity of the situation weighed heavily on the courtroom.

Prosecutor Arcee, addressing the court: "Your Honor, the evidence against the defendant is overwhelming. We have witness accounts, medical reports, and, most notably, the films found in his possession that detail the unspeakable acts."

Barricade, addressing the court: "Your Honor, we strongly recommend considering the severity of the crimes committed. The safety of the citizens, especially minors, is at stake."

Judge Alpha Trion, contemplatively: "The court acknowledges the severity of the charges. The defendant is a minor, but the acts committed are beyond reprehensible."

Bumblebee, unmoving: "Why does it matter? They all hate me anyway."

His words echoed in the courtroom, a haunting testament to the shattered state of his sanity.

Defense Attorney Mirage, stammering: "Your Honor, I... I request a psychiatric evaluation for the defendant. It's clear he's not in a stable mental state."

Judge Alpha Trion, nodding: "Granted. Arrange for a psychiatric evaluation immediately. We need a comprehensive understanding of the defendant's mental state before proceeding further."

As the courtroom buzzed with discussions about the next steps, Kup and Barricade shared a somber glance, recognizing the complexities of the case. Bumblebee's actions were unforgivable, but the fact that he was a child added layers of difficulty to the legal proceedings.

Kup, speaking to Barricade: "This is a mess. We have to make sure justice is served, but we also need to consider his age."

Barricade, grimly: "Agreed. We can't let him go unpunished, but we also can't forget he's just a kid."

The courtroom proceedings would unfold with the weight of difficult decisions and a quest for justice, forcing those involved to confront the harsh reality of a deeply troubled young bot.

I honestly know absolutely nothing about Barricade. The only thing I think I have actually seen him in were the Bay films and I don't trust the characterization there (for obvious reasons) enough to make an opinion on him.

I do like this design tho it is pretty interesting.

It did not match their looks at all.

Everyone is surprised when hearing their voice when the side effects are active.

Team that is surprised a bit but moves on

This team is reserved for those who are just plain startled by Buddy’s new voice. They were not ready for this. These bots do get informed about it or they already knew about the side effects beforehand. But it’s still a surprise. It takes a bit to get used to, but they can live with it. They are glad that Buddy’s voice returns to normal when the medicine runs its course.

Team that doesn’t not like it but is willing to put up with it

This team nearly jumps out of their frames when they hear Buddy talk. This is not right at all. Buddy’s voice was not like that before, why is it like that! They do eventually get informed about the side effects of the medicine, but that doesn’t mean they like it. They slightly jumps when Buddy talks as much as they try and hide it. It’s a celebration for them when Buddy’s voice returns to normal. There are so many hugs and pleas to take care of their voice better.

Team that stays away from Buddy the second they hear their voice

They hear Buddy talk one time and absolutely avoid them at all costs. They don’t care if they have to meet with Buddy, they are going to send someone else to take care of it. They don’t get informed about the medicine’s side effects because they have already barricaded themselves inside their rooms. This is only until the threat is gone. They will still avoid Buddy for a couple days after they recover just in case.

Now in the TFA X Poppy Playtime Crossover, through the monitors and body cams, what was the scariest, chilling, or anxiety inducing thing that the Repair Team saw with Professor Sumdac saw their friends encounter while inside the factory?

Was it being chased by Mommy Long-Legs? Was it Musical Memory? Playing Statues with P.J Pugapillar? Was it the train crashing into Playcare? Running from Miss Delight? The swarm of Mini Critters? The fight with Catnap? Or seeing the footage of the "Hour of Joy"?

Mini Critters as Catnap had kidnapped Sari after the train accident and taken her to where Dogday was being held at. She seen the sorry state the poor Bigger Body was in thus decided she wasn't going to play hostage nor leave the toy behind. Sari then did something a bit stupid, gross and quite scarring with Dogday's permission.

She wore him like a makeshift costume so they could try to find their way out. (Isaac absolutely fainted while Bulkhead left to go purge again.) The Mini Critters weren't exactly happy to see Sari running off with Dogday and gave chase. Both had escaped using the duck ride underneath the complex since neither could jump across the pit without a Grabpack.

Luckily Bumblebee happened to be near where the ride left and thrown out some snacks he stolen from the machines to distract the swarm. Both entrances to the place was barricaded just in case the Mini Critters try to break out. Sari washed up while Dogday got treated.

No one rather mention that particular scene ever again.

About Yoketron: I don't think he knew and it's not like Prowl would tell even when he started trusting him

This implies that for a reunion to happen, barricade, either paid great attention to the news involving Earth (unlikely) or he was part of one of the Decepticon squads that returned to have contact with the high command

Transformers and its cop history is so... I don't even have the words, the strangest thing to me is that initially Prowl is the Autobot military strategist. He's not a law enforcer or even has a role of security in the Autobots. His alt mode is a police car

With how many continuities Transformers and new designs for characters have had (most notable is Michael Bay live movies popularising Bumblebee as a sports car and making it more prevalent in Transformers media onwards, compared to his original Volkswagen Beetle alt mode), it surprises me that Prowl has remained with a police car alt mode or has been given roles more reminiscent— if not blatantly stated, to be a law enforcer

Why has this persisted? Especially when in recent years law enforcement has notably been under criticism (to put things lightly). There is no actual reason for why Prowl has to be a police officer or have an alt mode of a police vehicle. It's not really an integral aspect of the character's personality at all and yet that's how everyone characterises Prowl as, "The Cop." Which is through no fault of their own really because he's been a cop/cop vehicle in every appearance he's had from my knowledge. I have always been slightly uncomfortable with Prowl's (unnecessary, imo) connection to law enforcement, enjoying the character and his actual personality becomes difficult because he is so heavily associated with law enforcement/being a police officer

Well, I think it's pretty clear why this has persisted. And I was actually thinking about something similar recently, which is that the version of Barricade who has a police car alt-mode is a really, really strange character because he wasn't created or portrayed as an ACAB statement, but instead he was meant to subvert the idea that cops are safe people who should be respected. Like, we as an audience are expected to share a base assumption that cops are good guys, and it's frankly embarrassing and gross that this approach to the character has been featured as late as IDW2. Analysis of how Prowl has been utilized under the cut:

Of course, Prowl's original alt-mode was a Nissan Fairlady Z painted to be a specialized police pursuit vehicle as used in Japan, so basically a sports coupe repurposed into a cop car for police chases. And he had this design because he was pretty much just a reissue of the Diaclone police car toy. As you mentioned, the character himself wasn't a cop originally—instead, I would say his vehicle mode more metaphorically represented the characterization he had, in which he will stop at nothing to "pursue" his goals and will radio his leader constantly when he doesn't know what to do.

I also do remember one early comic in which Prowl uses his alt-mode to tell humans to evacuate a dangerous area, and I think there's something to be said for a cop car being a logical choice for a disguise because it can be utilized in ways like that.

Sometimes people say that the Prowl from TFA (who I do really like!) manages to escape problematic implications such as copaganda, but while I do really appreciate that reinvention of the character, he really doesn't. I mean, he still turns into a police vehicle in that series, and the show pushed for him to become friends with a cop who has bigoted beliefs.

What's at the heart of the complete disaster area Prowl became are writers and artists who have base assumptions that inform their work. Writers who are privileged and believe copaganda are just going to do things like this. That's why Prowl became more and more of a cop over time. When those writers and that artist working on IDW2 had a comic sign off on police brutality and showed the proto-Decepticons using an altered version of a real-world anti-racist slogan, that's why, and it's why in the creators' apologies they reveal they never even thought about what they were implying—probably because these issues don't really impact their lives. This is how copaganda even ends up in things like Rescue Bots.

Fandom is guilty here as well. Before Prowl as an angry controlling cop existed in canon media, fans were writing that in their fanfictions, and this portrayal became more and more popular and started to leak into canon over time. And then when it started to appear in canon media, people ate it up and didn't want this characterization to be reverted, and it still persists now. So no, there's no reason Prowl had to be this way, but he has been, it's a pattern, and it has to be addressed in official media at some point. And to be honest, I don't know how it could be... like reverting him to an earlier characterization and having him turn into something else would be nice, but then it's kind of sweeping the history under the rug. Deleting him from existence or having him be a villain wouldn't work because he's literally the Autobots' logo. Maybe it could be tackled by both reverting him to an earlier characterization and having him go through a character arc in which he learns to grow beyond black-and-white thinking or something? He's definitely always had major flaws even before this whole mess, so it could work.

And before somebody comes at me with something like, "Okay but IDW Prowl isn't copaganda and is fine because the story is critical of his actions," I'll say this: okay, but if Nick Roche was going to create a character to explore that, why did he choose to make him a gay, mentally ill, disabled guy? Those are the traits of people who cops murder and oppress. It's like JRo with Chromedome—why would he choose to have one of the first prominent gay characters in his story not only be struggling with addiction, but be struggling with an addiction to violating people and causing them irreparable harm? It's just a different form of problematic.

the way i would adapt something like that for a human design depends on its function in the story. is it an injury? did that injury involve cause limb loss? was it mutated by some kind of weird alien parasite? so here are three ways i would do it

Optimus is so very confused. He's never seen an egg before: he doesn't know that cybertronians can reproduce sexually. Yaaay, censorship and population control! Megatron is proudly introducing the heir to his throne and Optimus is shell shocked, trying and failing to wrap his head around the idea that he helped create life. He didn't know such a thing was possible! He's shaking as he shuffles toward it, optics wider thsn they've ever been as he delicately places his palms against the shell. It's warm, so very warm, and there's a soft pulsing he can feel in his fingertips. The egg has the faintest hint of an EM field, but when he touches it the field shifts from sleepy-unaware-content to who's this-familiar-comforted. He's so overcome with emotion he doesn't even realize tears are welling up until his face suddenly feels wet.

As for Prowl and Lockdown... well. Prowl came from before the war. He knows of sparklings and eggs but has never actually seen them before. Lockdown just arrives in the middle of the night with a basket full of eggs like a psychotic easter bunny dodging his parental responsibilities and drops off the three of them with hardly any explanation. The basket and eggies are too big for Prowl to hold at once, so they just get placed at his feet and Lockdown says he'll be back later. Be a good sire and keep them warm while he's at work.

Prowl barely manages to stutter out a strangled, "Wait-!" before Lockdown is outta there and he's left alone with his unhatched triplets. You cannot convince that Prowl doesn't kinda freeze up in face of his newfound impending fatherhood and fall back on earth documentaries for what to do. He starts mimicking birds by throwing together a carefully balanced nest-cradle thing in his tree and gently places all three inside before trying to use his body heat to keep them warm. While also desperately trying to hide their existence from the rest of the team

The 2007 Bayverse movie! We got a pirated dvd the year after it came out and as soon as I saw Scorponok pop out of Blackout's chest (and then Frenzy pop out of Barricade's)............I knew it was love. My brother and I started watching G1 after that, then we got into TFA after vcr'ing part of an episode and recognizing David Kaye's voice lmao
