Thinking of some character wishes I had for EarthSpark. My main concern is more Terrans, Autobot or Decepticon, and a quirk I had was most are Earthborn TFs in other media.

Some ideas were the Dinobots as a whole being Terrans, because of G1 cartoon and Animated, though that might depend on Grimlock. G1 Grimlock appears in an Instagram teaser alongside G1 Optimus so that feels too … deliberate to not include Grimlock as a Terran or natural born Cybertronian.

The twist I had with Terran Dinobots was a Movie style splitting of the difference by including Scorn and Slash somewhere.

Wreck-Gar ala Animated also came to mind, mostly just to see Junkions again in modern media. I don’t know why they don’t use Wreck-Gar and the Junkions anymore in cartoons. You’d think their TV Talk would have them fit right in modern audiences.

Kind of a long shot but Masterforce characters come to mind, but I feel the catch would be they’d still be their American counterparts. So Fangry and Horri-Bull instead of Wilder and Bullhorn. I feel like there’s a gag that Robbie and Mo give Terran Fangry and Terran Horri-Bull after seeing their behavior when coming online, lol.

Mo: That guy is totally called Horri-Bull. Optimus: Yes, he certainly is Terri-Bull, isn’t he?

This can extend to Beast Wars characters as well, but I can’t think of anyone I’d want to see specifically. Maybe Tigatron, but they’ll likely go with Cheetor because of his role in Cyberverse.

I don’t know how they’d pull it off exactly, but I’d love a return to Double Spies. In this case, it’d probably have to be Doubledealer because of his Beast Mode for both Decepticon and/or possible Mandroid purposes and because he’s consistently antagonistic.

Punch/CounterPunch can also work, but I think it would depend on how the Decepticons work in context since this is a post war straggler kinda thing atm, and I don’t think there’s much to work with for Counterpunch in this scenario, while as DoubleDealer can be spying on the Autobots for the Decepticons/Mandroid and get necessary intel for their plans.

Since Soundwave is here after all and as a stealth bomber, I’m wondering if he still has cassettes or if they’re the equivalent of Torpedo Mini-Cons. In any event, I want someone BESIDES Laserbeak. Bring back Ravage, RatBat, Slugfest, Wingthing, Flipsides, anybody!

On a related note, I wonder if Mini-Cons will be a thing here. I loved the variety we got in RiD, but they’ve been absent since and I dunno for sure how you’d have them work in EarthSpark, even if it was a toy only way. (Powerlinx hasn’t been much of a thing anymore, and I doubt RiD Cyclones will appear ever again because of Bakugan’s return). Still, Mini-Cons, I’m all for in some capacity in EarthSpark.

I've never done a hot take before 😅 but I will do my best:

I absolutely love Masterforce even though I feel like 90% of the Transformers fandom hates it. It's seriously underrated by the fandom. I do understand the frustration of having to watch Masterforce with subtitles bc that's not something everyone is physically able to do nor enjoy and the English dub is terrible. But man, that show is just so off the rails that I vibe with it. I love Fangry so much I can't stay mad at him even though he literally kicked a puppy. Plus, it sets up Victory which is arguably one of the best TF cartoons ever.

TF Fangry Robot Mode Doodle 02_Feb2021

Here is a little doodle of Gen1 Decepticon Headmaster Fangry here in his Robot Mode firing his rifle at somebot off screen. I based alot of the details off of his toy, including his batwings forming a shield, imagining how the details would look if I kept it as close to the G1 toy as possible, all in all very happy with the results, hope you guys enjoy! ^_^

the best (and worst) part about writing transformers fanfic is when you're writing something that includes canonically named characters that have no other given information. trying to flesh out the disappeared cybertronians on the necroworld is so strange bc they're all technically their own named characters but for most of them there is like. no information for them.

all of these names and there's NOTHING to base them off of. it's an empty sandbox to do whatever the hell i want with it (aka giving ravage a tiny army that he brings to sanctuary <3)

Heathers/Stranger Things AU general rules/geography

The timeframe is loose, simply taking place in an unspecified time between in the mid to late 80’s. It only jumps outside of that timeframe during adult aged time skips after the events of Heathers. The 80’s timeframe otherwise goes on for as long as it needs to, similar to summer in Phineas and Ferb.

Pop culture is similarly a bit loosely defined. Most everything that came out in our universe during the 80’s did here as well, with some exceptions.

Masters of the Universe continued with The Powers of Grayskull toyline and series. Son of He-Man also came out and had a toyline, but was more of a short lived mini-series. Kurt is into MOTU and has some samples of these spin offs in his collection.

The American Transformers cartoon continued past Rebirth, with a storyline that focused on Nucleon, Action Masters, Pretenders and Micromasters. Female characters made the leap into the toy line, mostly very late in the Pretender and Action Master lines. In particular Arcee got her fabled 80’s toys and was sold as both a Pretender and Action Master, but not as a Headmaster. Moonracer had an Action Master toy with a hammer accessory Dan gifted to Veronica. Veronica has a casual awareness of the Transformers through Dan, but mistakenly calls the factions “Autobolts” and “Deceptitrons”. Dan never corrected her. JD has more of an interest in Transformers, and is sometimes reading Dan’s TF comics when he has nothing to do. In the 90’s, he, Dan and Liam have a mutual love of Beast Wars.

The Transformers occasionally are used as parallels for “fight scenes”, Bumblebee, Moonracer and Fangry represent Dan, Veronica and JD in particular. He-Man characters are similarly used in a similar context in Kurt and Ram’s perspectives when necessary.

Ultraman had a more successful foothold in America, with UltraSeven being broadcast and comics being made available. Dustin and Specs are into Ultraman specifically, with some new Upside Down monsters in Hawkins being comparable to Ultraman monsters.

Anime is similarly more accessible, but hasn’t taken off quite yet. Specs and Dustin seem to be the only ones specifically interested in anime and manga. Dan has a passing interest but hasn’t found a thing he particularly likes, but does share Spec’s interest in Tatsunoko products like Yatterman and Tekkaman.

The main teenage cast (Veronica, Dan, JD, Specs, Martha, Thrash, Throttle, Kurt, Ram, Betty, Tracey, Red, Green, and Gold) during the events of Heathers are all 17 to keep it easy. Dan and JD are in their Sophomore Year during the events of Stranger Things.

Veronica is from a not QUITE rich, but VERY well off family. If an expensive, possibly out of town, adventure is on the table, she will help foot the bill if she’s part of the adventure that day. If it’s a Dan and JD adventure, JD has squirreled away a hefty sum from Big Bud’s accounts out of spite to use if need be. It’s implied this is where JD’s motorbike came from.

The Stranger Things timeline is roughly in and around the events of 3 and 4. Dan and JD have met and interacted with most of the main ST teenage cast, specifically Will, El, Max, Dustin, Mike, Eddie and Lucas.

Will and Dan were particularly close and became pen pals when Dan moved. Veronica contributes to letters occasionally.

The Upside Down is mostly contained in Hawkins, only sporadic references to it and other villains are made by JD and Dan in Sherwood. However, it is later revealed towards the end of the Westerberg adventure that the baddie Vecna had been keeping an eye on JD, finding his ever growing and potent darkness malleable for his purposes and had been subtly nudging him as the shadowy “Voice In Your Head”. When Dan and Veronica saved JD from himself during the boiler room incident, Vecna’s influence weakened while JD’s anger and darkness began to evaporate, and when JD found the love and stability he was looking for, the connection was severed completely via a dream. JD overpowered the psychic by Transforming and Head On’ing into Fangry and shooting Vecna in the head, banishing him from JD’s “mind prison” forever.

Because of the dangers present in Hawkins from the supernatural and normal corrupt adults, JD has a considerably higher body count, and unsurprisingly this fed into his warped mentality during the Sherwood adventure. Dan also has a high body count, though not nearly as high as JD’s. This is a well kept secret from Dan’s family, with the only other person fully aware of it in the Westerberg friend group being Veronica.

JD’s bomb is actually left over from a plot JD and Dan concocted to fight the Super Demogorgon, with Dan helping build it. The bomb was never used for its intended purpose, but for unknown reasons, JD kept it, having defused it prior to moving away from Hawkins, but reactivated it during his mental breakdown at Sherwood. Dan is horrified to learn the bomb still existed, and knowing this is far more serious than he anticipated, asks Kurt, Ram and Tracey to help him and Veronica disarm it. They thankfully succeeded, though a humbled but despondent JD tried to sacrifice himself with a now severely handicapped bomb until the friend group took it away from him and safely detonated it in the football field.

Will (and to a lesser extent Jonathan) has the strongest connection to the Heathers cast, being Dan and JD’s friend but also being Veronica’s distant cousin on her mother’s side.

It’s heavily implied Beetlejuice exists in this universe, and that Dan and JD both independently had connections with the Ghost With The Most at some point. JD is implied to be related to the Maitlands (his only remaining relative otherwise is his ill tempered grandfather Bud Sr.), while Veronica and Will are implied to be related to the Deetzs, Lydia being their cousin. JD and Dan are surprised to learn a musical and movie were made, and were offended they weren’t in it. JD wanted to sue, but Dan and Veronica talked him out of it. Allegedly both boys have favors they can call in from BJ, but haven’t yet… May depend on if the Upside Down ever properly extends to Sherwood, Ohio…

Dan and Liam are related to the Buckman clan, from the 80’s Parenthood film, on their mother’s side. JD is later adopted into the clan, with Martha and Veronica connected by marriage a few years later.

In this universe, Sherwood is located along the Ohio River, a large country town in between Jackson and Gallipolis. Ram, Throttle, and the Heathers live on the West End of the town, with the other rich citizens. Veronica, Martha, Betty, Specs, Thrash and Kurt live in the heart of the town near the suburbs, JD lives in an apartment complex near the entrance to the town with Dan, Liam and Tracey’s houses just outside the entrance. Dan and JD are within reasonable walking distance from each other. Veronica, from her location, has a bit of a longer walk but it is doable if she wants to visit JD. Dan and Ram’s houses are on the opposite sides of town, roughly half an hour to 45 minutes. A massive stretch of farmland occupies the South End, which connects to the town park and by extension the heart of the town where the high school and major stores are located. Being in the 80’s, the stores are mostly (now since extinct) facilities like Big Bear, Fisher’s Big Wheel, Pamida, Hills, K-Mart, and Ames. Martha has a part time job at Ames, while Specs works part time at Hills. JD, Veronica and Dan’s hangout is often the Snappy Snack Shack/7-11 combo next to Ames. The Sherwood Cinema, which includes an arcade, is near the park which has a bike path that leads through the farmland clear to Gallipolis. Nestled in the hills by the river is Sherwood Community College.

TF Fangry Wolf-Bat Mode Doodle 01_Jan2021

Here is alittle doodle of the Headmaster from G1 Fangry here in his hybrid werewolf Bat form. I rather liked the concept behind this guys design, I haven't seen it drawn all that often so I thought I would give it a go. I think his headmaster partner can occupy the hatch in his abdomen while he is in his Wolf bat form. Anyway Enjoy ^_^

reading through the first few issues of lost light through a decepticon perspective (fic research wahoo!) is sooo,,, i recommend everyone do it at least once. like ignore the cast on functionalist cybertron, ignore what's going on with lug and anode, even partially ignore the drama between cyclonus and tailgate (but not fully ignore them, they're important here).

focus on fangry and rapidfire and the handful of other decepticons we see. because having to get into their minds for a fic writing?? really helped me put together how like. fucked their situation was. maybe a meta post on this soon.

Greetings everyone!

I hope this week's Resurrection Sunday post finds you in a better place than I am right now. Two weeks ago, I broke a capillary in my face (0/10, no stars, cannot recommend against doing this hard enough) and hemorrhaged blood off and on for two days. Recovering from this has been EXHAUSTING and I have barely had the energy to do my day job, let alone anything else. (We also discovered that I am anemic, which explains a lot of things.)

And then, my grandma passed away yesterday. She was 91 ½ (she would have been 92 on Oct 20. We used to do Halloween things for her birthday when I was a kid, and she had a lot of fun with it.) And she was suffering greatly from a series of terrible health conditions. Helping her, and my Aunt who was her full-time caregiver, through everything was ALSO exhausting, as I got tasked with all the things my mom usually does on top of my day job and recovering from the broken capillary.

So that's why the radio silence. I'm so sorry for that. I kept meaning to make a post and then then I'd forget in the fog of exhaustion. (I'm not any less exhausted today, but I have a reminder for Resurrection Sunday in my calendar. Thanks, past eerian.) I'd like to say that next month will be better, but I can't promise that right now. Especially since grandma's funeral is on Saturday.
