【RELEASE】”TENbient 4”

The fourth compilation of TENbient, an event focusing on ambient music held at the live space Ten in Asagaya, is released by elect-low and will be available from June 7, 2023.

The diverse content includes works by past event performers, drones, modular synths, and electronica.

The album includes works by Teruyuki Kurihara, who has released on the German label "Mille Plateaux," Ooyamada, a former member of "Inseam 89" who has also released on the "Landscaping Project" label, Daisan, "the north end" and "the north end" label. Was an honour to make this mix for Ransom Note. As I've often said there are only two types of music - party and chill - and this is a chill mix, albeit one which probably isn't very relaxing.

Features my favourite contemporary musicians, some of which - Kira May, Teruyuki Kurihara, Cadu Tenório, Katie Gately - have previously passed through the bowels of the cultural filtration system that is Blue Tapes.

Others, like Ose, Julia Reidy, Jonny Greenwood, Kamasi Washington, Shuta Hasunuma, 박지하 Park Jiha, Ariel Kalma, and KATE NV are just artists who I worship from a distance.

【RELEASE】kentaro nagata "We Don't Know What Love Is(With AI)"

Coldhotのメンバーで、TENbientコンピレーションなども手掛けるkentaro nagataがアルバムをリリース。全曲、ChatGPTなどのAIたちと共作。

制作方法は、曲のイメージをAIに伝え、AIがコード進行や音階を提案。提案されたコードや音階をもとにkentaro nagataが演奏・プログラミング・ミックスした。ピアノやシンセサイザーを中心に、アンビエント調や80’sを思わせる電子音楽などで構成されている。

アルバムタイトルはジャズのスタンダード曲、” You Don't Know What Love Is​​”を捩っており、”AI”と”LOVE”を掛けている。AIと人間の、音楽家の共存を探る1枚。

永田さんの音作りはエレクトロニカ的なグリッチ感・ざらつきが特徴的だと思っています。

AIに一部の作曲プロセスを委ねた──とはいえこの点は健在で、それゆえに本作は「AIに置き換わらないアーティストの個性」を考える上で格好のサンプルではないでしょうか。 AIの側面を強調せずとも普通に ”すごく良いアンビエントアルバム” であることからも、アーティストとAIが共存・共栄する未来を前向きに夢見たくなる作品。

2023年、AIの進化がさらに目覚ましい。 とくにChatGPTのリリースは世界中に大きなインパクトを与えている。 間違いなくここ数年でぼくらの生活は一変するだろう。

もちろんAIによって変わっていくのは音楽制作にも言えることでこれから人間とAIが共同制作していくのは間違いない。 楽曲制作とAIの親和性はめちゃくちゃいいと個人的には思っている。 これまでだって楽器からシンセ、コンピューターソフトを使ってきたのと同じように音楽制作にAIは当たり前のように浸透していくだろう。

と思っていたら、Nagata氏がさっそくやってくれた。 AIを楽曲制作に取り入れたアルバム” You Don’t Know What Love Is”をリリース。 ピアノをフューチャーしたディープなアンビエントトラックに心酔しクラウトロックを彷彿とさせるシンセトラックには恍惚として聞き惚れる。

Nagata氏のコンセプチュアルな一面を垣間見たアルバム、どれも素晴らしいです。リスペクト！！！

このアルバムは様々な音色やムードで構成されながらも統一感と抒情性を持ったエモーショナルなアンビエントアルバムであると言える。しかし、よく聴いていくと、コード進行やメロディーの移行のタイミングなどにそこはかとないぎこちなさが宿っている事にも気づくであろう。そして、そのぎこちなさこそが２０２３年時点の人間とAIの間に存在する距離により発生しているとも言え、逆に考えれば、その距離の中に作者のAIへの憧れや労り、思いやりなどの感情が生まれており、鑑賞者はそこに作者の感情の流れを聞き取るのである。 　他方、少し俯瞰して述べれば、19世紀にすでに飲物を買いに行くロボットが発明され、長らく子どもたちはドラえもんの一挙一動を見守り、現代において老人ホームの床をペットロボットが這いつくばる日本において、AIとの対話によってエモーショナルなアンビエントアルバムが誕生したことは歴史的必然なのかもしれない。
