Someshwara Temple is located at Lakshmeshwar in the Gadag district about 55 km from Hubli Karnatka India.The temple was built in 12th century and built by Chalukyas.The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva but here known as Someshwara. Somesshwar Temple flourishing religious center during the days of the Chalukyas. As per an inscription dated 1102 CE where god is referred as Muddesvara and later the god is referred as Svaymbhu-Somanatha or Dakshina-Somanatha.The beautifully sculpted idols of Shiva Parvathi and Nandi in this temple were brought from Saurashtra by a Shiva devotee and hence it is sometimes called as Saurashtra Someshwara. The Someshwara Temple at Lakshmeshwar is a fairly big and beautiful temple where daily worship is still performed.The temple complex with three main entrances is surrounded by high walls look like a fort. 🕉 🚩🛕 🇮🇳 🔱⠀ ⠀ ⠀ To be frank, #Shivadol took my breath away. To be in a 🆕 place with those familiar vibes is a home away from home feeling. I ended my Monday and went straight to the famous #Shivadol. I didn't enter the garbagriha because I hadn't taken a bath at that time. So I explored the exterior. And saw many carvings of Gods and Goddesses that I couldn't even recognise as time had taken its toll on them. Samadhishwara Temple, Chittorgarh, Rajasthan Chittorgarh fort in Rajasthan is one of the oldest living forts in India. It us the fort that has so many stories of courage, sacrifice & devotion. We know as much about the queens of this fort as we do about the kings who ruled from here. Chittorgarh fort is full of temples - big & small, defunct & practising, Samadhishwara temple, standing on the base of an inverted lotus is one of the oldest temples in the fort. It has a giant face of Shiva with 3 heads. I saw a similar sculpture in wood at a museum in the fort. Walls inside the sanctum are carved and their age shows. Nandi here looks almost a miniature here. On the outside walls the whole lifecycle of a human life is carved. Gomukh pond stands next to the temple. 🕉️🚩🛕🔱🇮🇳⠀ ⠀ dol means temple in Assamese.⠀ ⠀ Siva dol (meaning the temple of Shiva) is a group of structures comprising three Hindu temples of Sivadol, Vishnudol (meaning temple of Vishnu) and Devidol (means temple of the Goddess Devi Durga) shrines, and a museum. These are located on the banks of the Sivasagar ("the ocean of the god Shiva") tank, also known as the Borpukhuri tank, in the heart of Sivasagar, in the Indian state of Assam.⠀ ⠀ The tank was constructed between 1731 and 1738 and the temples were built in 1734 by Bar Raja Ambika, queen of Ahom king Swargadeo Siba Singha (1714–1744).⠀ ⠀ Sivadol, built in the Shikhara architecture (more specifically Ahom temple architecture), has a central tower which is said to be the tallest Shiva temple tower in India at a height of 104 feet and the perimeter is 195 feet at the base. It is crowned with an 8-foot high golden-dome.⠀ The temple is built with stone and bricks. Inside the Garbhagriha (sanctum sanctorum), the Shiva Linga (aniconic symbol of Shiva) is deified, which is in a reverse setting. The Shikhara or Vimana (temple tower), which rises above the sanctum sanctorum, has a four-tiered, 8 feet (2.4 m) mastaka and is crowned by a kalasha made of gold. The tower itself is built with parallel ridges and furrows. The lower part of the tower is flanked by four smaller identical towers, which are known as the angashikaras. The garbagriha, where the main deity is deified in the form of a reversed Shiva linga, is interconnected with an antarala, a small antechamber, which has a roof known as do-chala, which is akin to a typical hut built in Assam. The antarala is also connected to one of the mandapas (outdoor halls). Situated in the Paralakhemundi sub-division in the #Gajapati district of Odisha and part of the enchanting Eastern Ghats, it's home to the second highest peak in Odisha, standing at 4923 feet. This verdant green hill has been picked up by the Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India to be developed as part of the Ramayana circuit, one of the fifteen thematic circuits included under the Swadesh Darshan programme. The hill is believed to have been referred to as 'Mahendra Parvata' in Ramayana where Parashuram practiced penance for a long time. There are a few temples on the hill, some of which are believed to have been built by the Pandavas later. It's also a biodiversity hotspot. Many species of medicinal plants are found here. Shivaratri is the main festival observed, when the place is filled with people. Mahendragiri is 51 kms to the south-West of #Brahmapur, 26 kms from the sea.
