Recently i went to my roots, my hometown Sarkaghat, a quaint town in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh – it’s not just a homecoming, it’s stepping into a world shaped by the greatest record label ever. Rediscovering home is always intriguing, but after a prolonged absence, it becomes its own unique experience. The familiar and comforting blend with a sense of difference. Settling back, there’s a peculiar quality of strangeness as you readjust to a space untouched for years. You, changed; home, largely the same; every interaction, a renegotiation of hierarchy, atmosphere, and energy. Here, amidst a nostalgic aura, I feel alive and relaxed – a resurrection of past childhood moments, paving the way for new perspectives on life and a deeper understanding of myself.
Pov: The weather was cold and windy there, my pictures can tell this itself.
The Kalka to Shimla Railway is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that connects the Indian plains to the ‘Queen of Hills,’ Shimla. Built in 1903, this toy train ride is one of India’s most incredible feats of engineering covering a staggering 102 tunnels, 864 bridges, and 919 stunning curves.
The journey was carved through the abundance of nature in Himachal Pradesh during British rule. The Kalka Shimla Toy train is bound to take you back to a completely different era in history and through one of the most scenic railway journeys in India. It’s known for its dramatic views of the hills and surrounding villages.
