📻🎶 H/D WIRELESS 2023 - WEEKLY WRAP-UP #3
The third week of posting has come to an end! Enjoy catching up with this week's selection of wonderful works.
There's a work for everyone in this fest (and if you haven't found what you're looking for yet, we're far from done with posting).
As always you can listen to the prompted songs for the works we post on two playlists:
Click here for Spotify (many thanks to @evaeleanor for helping us out there) ❤️
And here for the YouTube playlist.
Please enjoy this week’s entries below the cut:
🎶 H/D Wireless Art 🎶
📻 Your Heart's a Mess [G, Pencil & Copic markers]
🎵 Song Prompt: 'Hearts A Mess' by 'Gotye' 🎵 Summary: Hogwarts eighth year. Malfoy, visibly scarred (from Sectumsempra? from the war? from his treatment by the Ministry?) and visibly heavy-hearted (from regret? from his father's imprisonment? from how the other students torment him?) has driven Harry to distraction. It's 6th year all over again: he was rapidly becoming obsessed with Draco Malfoy. How he wishes the feeling was mutual.
🎶 H/D Wireless Fic and Art 🎶
📻 Waking Up Slow [E, 21,886, Digital Art]
🎵 Song Prompt: 'The Christmas Song' by 'The Raveonettes' 🎵 Summary: 'Twas the night before Christmas, although it’s July, Draco’s a shopkeeper, no-one knows why, There’s hiking and witch caves, freak snowfalls and more, Bad Christmas jumpers, nosy neighbours galore, Narcissa’s here too, but… something’s amiss, And what’s in those chocolates that’s making them kiss?
🎶 H/D Wireless Fic 🎶
📻 Burst of Love [E, 3,805]
🎵 Song Prompt: Jealous by Nick Jonas 🎵 Summary: The year after the War is both the worst and best one in Harry and Draco's lives. Draco somehow becomes one of the most requested influencer on Instagram, Harry is finally free and discovers he has quite...a passion inside himself. We all know how this is going to end.
📻 Rich Friend [E, 1,130]
🎵 Song Prompt: Rich Friends by Portugal. The Man 🎵 Summary: As far as Harry can tell, Draco Malfoy is still rich as hell. He’s just not a wizard anymore. Featuring: Draco Malfoy trying to make it as a Muggle pop star, Harry Potter as our confused and horny hero, bad driving, good music, and the mysterious magic of falling for someone.
📻 Seven Days, Seven Memories [E, 25,668]
🎵 Song Prompt: Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want by The Smiths 🎵 Summary: In a universe somewhere, deep down in the Department of Mysteries, behind Door 13, Unspeakable Draco Malfoy, can be usually found. Except Malfoy is nowhere to be found when Harry goes looking for him. What he finds instead is a Pensieve and a box full of memories
📻 so scarlet it was [E, 19,932]
🎵 Song Prompt: Maroon - Taylor Swift 🎵 Summary: Draco’s back for his Eighth Year as part of his parole. He’s doing his best not to annoy any war heroes and avoid Harry Potter as if his life depends on it. Too bad Harry has other ideas.
📻 A Pureblood's Guide to Driving and Apostasy [E, 9,218]
🎵 Song Prompt: I'm On Fire by Bruce Springsteen 🎵 Summary: Draco Malfoy should be happy - he's engaged to a suitable young lady, chosen by his father, and on the way to restoring the family name. Except he isn't happy at all. That is, until Pansy (or is it fate?) brings him to a magical garage where his whole worldview is set on fire.
📻 Snitches & Sitches [T, 4,565]
🎵 Song Prompt: 'Once Upon a December' by 'Liz Callaway' 🎵 Summary: After a Quidditch accident, Harry's life turns upside down when he suffers a case of retrograde amnesia. Surrounded by people and places he should remember, Harry must cope with his slow recovery, all the while feeling like there's something very familiar about the blond with gray eyes who keeps wistfully staring at him.
📻 Can't Get You Out of My Head [E, 26,343]
🎵 Song Prompt: Can't Get You Out of My Head by Kylie Minogue 🎵 Summary: Draco was quite fine with his own company, thank you very much. So, when a potions’ accident left him unable to rid his head of Harry Potter’s infernal internal monologue, Draco was less than thrilled. He was, however, an internationally educated Potioneer; he could find an antidote without having to admit to Potter the access he’d had to his thoughts…actions…personal life…personal time…right?
📻 Sod Off Potter [T, 1,787]
🎵 Song Prompt: Sod Off Potter by Rattlebones 🎵 Summary: So sod off Potter Will you say what you want? Sod off Potter Will you say what you want is me? Potter please ↳ Sod Off Potter - Rattlebones Draco regretted the decision to return to Hogwarts after the war. Why couldn't bloody Potter just leave him alone? It wouldn't be so bad if Draco hadn't been harboring a secret crush on Harry for years.
🎶 H/D Wireless Podfic 🎶
📻 [Podfic] You Are Not Alone [, 1:49:56]
🖋️ Original author: Juh_Nunes 🎵 Song Prompt: Sorry - Halsey 🎵 Summary: Orginal Summary: Draco dreaded going back to Hogwarts after the war. He was sure this would be his worst year yet: the school hated him, the Slytherins have abandoned him, and his dorm was overrun with Gyffindors. There was no way anything good could come out of this mess, right?

Once again rereading Red, White and Royal Blue so enjoy some of my favorite lines and a few thoughts I had while reading <3
'RULE #1: DON'T GET CAUGHT'
"Well, you don't have to like him, you just have to put on a happy face and not cause an international incident at his brother's wedding." right yes good, so about that...
I'm obsessed with Cash's full name being Cassius
'"Do either of you know what a viscount is?" ... "I think it's that thing when a vampire creates an army of crazed sex waifs and starts his own ruling body."'
'When he got his first girlfriend, she made a PowerPoint presentation' I love Ellen, she's been the same he whole life, queen.
'Shaan is on the phone with Portugal' is absolutely my favorite line in the whole book.
'He just... Well, he gets told he's great a lot. He just doesn't often get told he's good enough'
'Then he thinks: If there was a prince, and he was gay, and he kissed someone, and maybe it mattered, that prince might have to run a bit of interference. And in one mercurial swing, Alex is not just angry anymore. He's sad too.'
'... where people are to busy mingling and listening to music to notice Alex frog-marching an heir to the throne out of the dining room' This paints such a vivid and hysterical picture.
'Henry is one talented bastard, a man of many hidden gifts, Alex muses half-hysterically. A true prodigy. God Save the Queen'
"... She still listens, and she tries, and she wants us to be happy. But I don't know if she has it in her anymore to be a part of anyone's happiness."
'How he realized by the time he was four that every person in the country knew his name, and how he told his mother he didn't know if he wanted them to, and how she knelt down and told him she'd let nothing touch him, not ever'
'... Two parentheses enclosing 3,700 miles.'
'He keeps staring at them, hoping if he recites them enough time in his head, he'll figure out how to feel like he's doing enough.'
'"Good morning, strumpet." Henry say, glancing away from the road to wink at the camera'
As a leftist that lives in and loves the fuck out of a red state, Alex's argument with Hunter in chapter eight is so healing tbh. "You think y'all are off the hook for institutional bigotry because you come from a blue state. Not every white supremacist is a meth-head in Bumfuck, Mississippi--there are plenty of them at Duke or UPenn on Daddy's money." Alex in this scene is so important to understanding red state democrats and liberals. Please please please go read the full scene again.
'He remembers, as if from a million miles away, telling Henry once not to overthink this.'
'It's rare anyone other than June goes out of their way to check on him. It's by his own design, mostly, a barricade of charm and fitful monologues and hard-headed independence. Henry looks at him like he's not fooled by any of it.'
Besties whatever you do Do Not listen to Haunted by Taylor Swift while reading Alex and Henry's almost breakup in chapter ten omg.
Taking up irl royal watching has made me inexplicably violent to seeing "The Daily Mail" in this book. They're actually awful irl if you were wondering.
"Alex. I don't want to do this."
"... You and me and history, remember? We're just gonna fucking fight. Because you're it, okay?..."
'He wants to set himself on fire but he can't afford for anyone to see him burn'
'This is the damage you cause, Alex, it all seems to say, right there in hard facts and figures. This is who you hurt.'
'Alex hasn't been a good Catholic on a long time, but he knows confession is a sacrament. They were supposed to stay safe.'
'"Oh, love," she says simply. "he misses Dad."'
"... On purpose. I love him on purpose."

"King on Screen" (2023)
Friday, September 8th, 2023 (23:32) JEFELEN was pleased to serve as Associate Producer on Daphné Baiwir's feature-length documentary, "King on Screen", for Les Films de la Plage™ (in association with FraKas Productions™ and Da Yamms Entertaiment™), which releases to the general public today!
http://kingonscreen.com
In 1976, Brian de Palma directed the film adaption of "Carrie", from the first novel by acclaimed writer, Stephen King. Since then, more than fifty directors have adapted the master of horror's books, comprising more than eighty films and television series, making him the most adapted author still alive in the world today. What's the fascination with him that directors cannot resist the allure of reimagining his stories for the screen? The feature documentary "King on Screen" reunites filmmakers who have adapted King's books for cinema and TV over the years, presenting interviews with the likes of Frank Darabont ("The Shawshank Redemption", "The Green Mile"), Tom Holland ("The Langoliers"), Mick Garris ("The Stand", "Sleepwalkers"), and Taylor Hackford ("Dolores Claiborne"), among numerous others. It is a movie made for fans, by fans, and led by a passionate international ambition that continues to this day.
You'll have to forgive me here, as I must confess that what I am about to present is... complicated, to say the least. For example, the theatrical run for this French-Belgian production saw representation from several independent distributors around the globe, including VOD Factory™ (for France and Spain), NonStop Entertainment™ (covering Denmark, Norway, and Sweden), PLAION Pictures™ (Germany), Midnight Factory™ (Italy), Vendetta Filmes™ (Portugal), Signature Entertainment™ (United Kingdom and Ireland), along with Dark Star Pictures™ (for the United States of America), which frankly leaves me rather struggling to keep track of who's responsible for what, where... so kindly bear with me. That having been said, the documentary is now available to watch in the U.S. through the following streaming services:
The Roku Channel™: http://therokuchannel.roku.com/…/c82302c…/king-on-screen
Spectrum™: http://ondemand.spectrum.net/movies/22796008/king-on-screen

Prime Video™: http://www.amazon.com/…/detail/0K0DWD57SRX9I6T3XO0437ZQU1
Throughout the United Kingdom, however, the movie has been retitled slightly in order to alleviate any potential confusion in the consumer public with The Royal Family -- it can be viewed here:
Virgin Media™: http://www.virginmediastore.com/movies/VUBI0000000001933669
Rakuten TV™: http://www.rakuten.tv/uk/movies/stephen-king-on-screen

In France, look no further than Prime Video™, once again:

Meanwhile, for those of you who might incidentally happen to harbour 'une passion ardente pour le cinéma et des expériences cinématographiques inégalées sur support physique', new start-up video publishing company, Academy Video™, have some fantastic collector's offerings available for prospective customers, including this DVD/blu-ray bundle:
http://www.academyvideo-shop.com/produit/kos
Or perhaps you'd prefer to get a little crazy with this limited-edition 'Jack Torrence' box set, which comes in a numbered magnetic collector's box (from of a run of 217), containing DVD/blu-ray discs, the soundtrack CD, a replica Gotham Café cup, branded pen, badge, keyring, coasters, bookmarks, stickers, an A3 poster, and a "Creepshow" tote bag -- a great deal of care and affectionate attention to detail has gone into crafting these:

Further commercial product of a more conventional nature will follow, but I'll announce these as they become commercially available.

Sunday, September 10th, 2023 (23:32) I realise that I've already covered this, and I'm not typically one to repeat myself when it comes to this whole publicity thing, but I do feel that the 'Jack Torrance' collector's box being offered by Academy Video™ really merits a second mention in greater detail, and the "King on Screen" release could benefit from some increased attention.
Limited to 217 units, this collection comes in a magnetically-sealed case, containing a copy of the documentary on DVD and blu-ray disc, as well as a copy of the Nicholas Pike soundtrack CD. In addition, these come packed with a set of three Xavier Desbarats drink coasters, plus a set of six whimsically illustrated bookmarks and a "Creepshow"-themed tote bag each designed by Vivien Duval. There is a pen, badge, and keyring, all bearing the documentary's title, plus an official A3 movie poster. Thursday, March 21st, 2024 (23:32) 2024 UPDATE: funnily enough, I was >going< to announce that Vinegar Syndrome™ are retailing "King on Screen" blu-ray discs... apparently having FORGOTTEN that I'd already done so a couple of months back! your hand in mine.
nannying hazel matthews has been almost suspiciously easy.
lucy is used to more challenging kids. her last family had included an eight year old who demanded to be addressed as lord vader and was probably a budding psychopath (she thanked god every day that the millers had moved to portugal and decided to hire a local nanny to teach lord vader portuguese). hazel is easy. she’s a sweet natured kid who likes disney movies and spinning and shares lucy’s love of cats and raw cookie dough. that afternoon, after school pickup and snacks, they’d spent twenty minutes spinning in the backyard and then made meatballs for dinner. she was still maybe a little queasy but it beat pretending to be force choked twelve times a day.
there aren’t really house rules beyond the obvious. she’d been told to make herself at home as taylor matthews had run out the door for a week long series of away games. he calls for hazel every day and always talks to lucy for a bit, just checking in to make sure everything is fine. she texts him pictures and videos of hazel and he responds and it’s fine. it’s more communication than she ever had with the millers and now that he’s back in town, they at least have a base of contact. she gets the feeling that he didn’t want to hire a nanny at all but now that she’s here, he’s going to make the best of it. he’s nice to her and remembers her name - more than she can say for either of the millers.
her tablet died during the day and she really doesn’t have anything to do without it once hazel is conked out. there aren’t really house rules but she still feels weird settling in on the massive couch to watch tv for the night after hazel is asleep and she’s showered and finished her homework. she wasn’t told that she can’t but she still feels like she might get in trouble for scrolling through streaming to find something to watch. she and hazel are watching the owl house and while she wants to keep watching, she knows hazel will know if she gets ahead.
she decides on friday night lights instead, a show she always meant to watch but that she simply hadn’t had the time for or the access when it was airing or in the time since. something for grownups will be good for her between rounds of disney movies and trying to avoid explaining adult jokes from the owl house to hazel but without too much swearing. she’s been here two weeks and has already had to explain that shit is for grownups and that hazel won’t be a grown up for another three hundred years at least
she’s about ten minutes into the first episode when the garage door opens and closes with a grinding thump. she debates scampering upstairs to avoid conversation but taylor is quicker, entering through the mudroom and humming under his breath. he always looks pleased to see her - she doesn’t necessarily know if it’s genuine or not but she appreciates it all the same.
“hey,” taylor says, emptying his jacket pockets on the kitchen counter. “haze down?”
lucy shrugs. “i sent her out for pop tarts and cigarettes a few hours ago.”
he laughs. “about damn time she started earning her keep.” she watched as he takes off his suit jacket and drapes it over a stool and frowns slightly.
“she’s fine,” lucy says, filling in the silence. “she had a good day at pre-k, we made meatballs, we spinned around. she’s been out for awhile now.”
he smiles a little now. “good.” he comes over and leans on the back of the sofa. “what’s on?”
shit, this isn’t her house and it isn’t her living room. “oh, my tablet died so i was just watching-“
“you’re fine. told you to make yourself at home.”
she sighs with not a little bit of relief. “friday night lights.”
“oh nice. mind company? i started watching this when hazel was born but never got past vood-“
she cuts him off and gestures to the empty end of the sectional. “it’s your couch. but no spoilers.”
“deal. okay if i go change and check on hazel first?”
lucy stifles saying that it’s his house and nods. he’s got what she can only consider an innate canadian niceness and consideration that sometimes bumps against her knee jerk desire to be a little sarcastic. it’s sweet and she likes it but it’s been long enough since someone actually gave a shit about her that it still surprises her. she hears doors open and close upstairs and the sound of the shower running. she scrolls through her phone until he reappears in sweats with damp hair.
it’s all very domestic and comfortable and it strikes her that this may very well be the hard part of nannying hazel matthews.

So I went to London in 2015 and 2018 to see my baby @taylorswift live and I would come back again this year, July 11th.
BUT, for the first time, I was going to be able to also see her perform IN MY COUNTRY for the first time since I am a fan (2008′s swiftie)...I dreamt about waving my portuguese flag in NOS ALIVE at JULY NINTH
ALSO DREAMET about Portobello Walks, Peggy Porschen breakfasts, New Bond’s Victoria’s Secret, Carnaby St...shopping at Anthropologie... “Camden Market in the afternoon” and how I love Covent Garden...just being there, alone but with my headphones and dreaming about meeting Taylor on the streets...
I will miss London this year, will miss  @taylorswift and will miss the idea of having her on my country for once.... I also miss my mom that passed away on September 9th and somehow the only good news I got after that was that Taylor was going to come to PORTUGAL :D
KEEP SAFE GUYS
ALL OUR DREAMS FOR 2020 WERE A GOOD ILLUSION
2021 CAN BE BETTER :DDDD

Okay, so I’m listening to a podcast Charity did in January 2019 and she confirmed that Liz got her the job on the Fearless Tour. She said that one of the dancers pulled out of the tour at basically the last minute and Liz suggested her to Taylor.
She talks a bit about her experience on the Fearless and Speak Now tours. She also says that she got to travel the world with her best friend (Liz) and says “that was just a dream. I mean, there’s so much drama and so much just... so many stories, but so much fun”.
She said that the Fearless tour was hard for her and that when she got the job she didn’t even know who Taylor was, which is kind of funny, especially since Liz was basically a Swiftie since day one.
She talks about her friendships with both Selena and Taylor and at one point says that “it was like Taylor passed the torch, which was me, to Selena”. And it was a lot of fun when the 3 of them all hung out together.
She tells a story about when she was on tour with Selena in Europe and they were staying at a hotel in Portugal that looked like the Great Gatsby house (they were obsessed with the movie at the time). They were drinking champagne and Selena was like “hey, let’s cut your hair” and she let her (which honestly gives me strong Tayliz vibes).
She talks more about tour life.
Then she says something I found very interesting regarding an IG post about deciding to make some changes in her career that the podcast host brings up, in which she wrote “there’s nothing more important than genuine connection, fierce love, authenticity, and to bring hope to one another”.
The hosts asks “when you were doing this part of your life, this crazy, exciting part of your life, were you experiencing that? As far as the fierce love, genuine authenticity, connection?”
Charity’s response:
“I think there were absolutely moments of that and I think what made it hard were the moments that weren’t like that, but seeing that even the most famous people in the world, all they really want is that connection, like, that real love, that authenticity. They just want to be them and now, because of social media and all these other things, which can also be great, it’s like everyone has this right to know everything about, or make up things about, these people that are just human, that are genuinely just like ‘I have this gift and I want to share it with you and I want to connect with you in this way’.
I think the hardest part for me, once I kept doing the tours and all of that, was realizing how much the fame wasn’t worth it. Just seeing a lot of the realities of that and seeing the pressure these people are under every single day that no one can even fathom. They barely get two seconds to themselves. There’s a tap on the door every other second, something that someone needs from them and just, like, the hopelessness that can kind of come from that.
People get to form their own opinions of these people and then they run with it and now there has to be all these PR people to keep other things from spreading, you know. Instead of just being like, ‘hey, yes it’s the price of fame now’.
But I think the thing that was really hard for me was having to be around things that kind of took the authenticity away or the connection away because of certain things that were expected and required of me or of these people.”
“At the end of the day we all want at least one person that we can sit and cry and be so authentically ourselves and vulnerable and not be worried that ‘are they gonna go and tell someone this?’
And just seeing the way... it’s hard to trust in that industry cause you don’t know who loves you for what you are and who loves you for who you are.
And that was really hard to watch and be a part of and be like ‘I care one billion percent more about being your friend than being your dancer or being your employee or anything else. Like, if you want to fire me from all of that and just let me be someone that can like hold you at the end of the day, let’s do that’.
And then I think what started wearing on me was because... was when I started being that for people and not having it for myself. So, yeah, that is when it started getting a little overwhelming because I wasn’t really even aware of that because I wanted to love so fiercely and have that authenticity.”
The host asked her if the decision to leave that life and career was a gradual thing or if there was a day where she was just like ‘I’m done”.
C: “Oh man, I went kicking and screaming. It was the hardest thing I could have ever chosen, but when I chose it, it was the first time I had felt real peace in a long time. I know that my story is so rare. Yes, I worked hard, yes I trained, but I also... I met the people I was supposed to meet and I kept relationship with people because I genuinely cared to and once I got all of the opportunities, and I auditioned for a lot of them too... yeah, it was hard to leave because I loved it...”
“I knew that I needed to take care of myself and I knew that I needed to be taken care of. That’s what brought me back home...”
“If I can say anything to anyone that’s choosing the entertainment industry, just don’t ever... oof, I can’t say that cause it happened to me, but if you ever get to a place that the industry of what you’re doing is taking the passion away from the craft that you’re doing, please take a break because you are giving out of empty and there’s nothing more life sucking than that. So, I had to take a step away because I needed to love myself and love dance again and be around people that I could just fall into their arms.
Living in LA is no joke. It’s hard. Anywhere that you live that you’re pursuing something in that kind of capacity is challenging and you always have to have your guard on, you know? You always have to be ready and I needed to not have to be ready all the time.”
She talks about moving back to Nashville and teaching dance. And basically just what she is doing now.
“I get to kind of figure out what’s next and pull from what I experienced, and go ‘ooh this is worth it’ or ‘ooh, that is not worth it’.
And just have a lot of grace for people that are still living that and artists that will never get to be like, ‘okay, you know what, I’m done. I’m gonna like be a normal person now’. They don’t ever get to escape and I got the sweet spot.
I got to experience all the cool stuff, then I got to be like, ‘I’m gonna go take a nap. I’m gonna wear sweatpants and no makeup for the next five days and no one is gonna photograph me or make up rumors about me’, you know?”
Anyway, she seems to be in a really good place now and that’s great. It does make me sad because it’s true that someone like Taylor or Selena is unfortunately kind of trapped in the industry in a way that someone who had a more background role isn’t. Ofc, there are people who do escape it, but it’s not easy. And as controlled and grueling as that life can be for a dancer, it’s gotta be a thousand times more so for the main talent.
This interview made me happy for Charity, but sad for Taylor and Selena at the same time...
Also, I’m transcribing this at like 4 in the morning on no sleep, so sorry if it’s a bit all over the place, but you can listen to the podcast here.

Dear Taylor
I decided to write you this letter on behalf of all international fans to speak with you about what we swifties are facing with the organization of the European festivals. We understood your decision to cancel the festivals and given what’s happening we support you and thank you for thinking of our safety and yours. However, we can’t understand why you only spoke about the American and Brazilian shows in your statement, as if the European shows didn’t exist and didn’t count - as well as international fans, meaning all the fans around the world that aren't Americans, don’t seem to exist when it comes to events, meet and greets, shipping costs and prices.
Most of Lover Fest shows are European. Ten, precisely. And for the first time after so many years you decided to visit countries that have supported you all along, such as: Belgium, Germany, Norway, UK, Denmark, Poland, France, Spain and Portugal. International fans bought tickets - including me - in the hope of finally seeing you after years, even fans with financial difficulties who have been saving money since forever for the tour, sacrificing other things. But no one, including you, could have predicted something so bad as this global emergency which is not only causing health issues but also financial issues, as you could see. Despite this, American and Brazilian fans have the certainty to see you next year because the shows are confirmed, they will be reorganized and fans can even keep their tickets because they will be valid for next year. This won’t happen for European fans tho, because you didn’t mention our shows, so the only words we can count on are those coming directly from those who organized these festivals and unfortunately they aren’t giving us any kind of hope to either see you or getting our money back, money that we could really use in a tough moment like this.
Here’s what we know about the organization of the European festivals:
⁃ WERCHTER BOUTIQUE, BELGIUM: they’re giving everyone a voucher to use in 2021 and 2022 exclusively for this festival. If we don’t use it within those two years, they won’t give us our money back. Fans bought this ticket because you were the special guest, they did it to see you and listen to your music, so they’re hoping you’ll reconfirm your presence in 2021 for this festival so that they won’t lose their money. ⁃ THE WALDBÜHNE, GERMANY: also Germany made a law that all concert tickets may be refunded as vouchers so that's what we're expecting for this event too; ⁃ OSLO SOMMERTID, NORWAY: tickets won’t be used for 2021 but fortunately they’re giving fans their money back. ⁃ GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL, UK: they’re giving the deposit back or the deposit can be reused for 2021. ⁃ ROSKILDE FESTIVAL, DENMARK: fans can use the ticket for 2021 or ask for a refund. ⁃ OPEN’ER FESTIVAL, POLAND: they’re waiting before cancelling the show. ⁃ FESTIVAL DE NÎMES, FRANCE: fans can use the ticket for 2021 or ask for a refund. ⁃ MAD COOL FESTIVAL, SPAIN: they didn’t cancel the festival and you can get the money back only if you certify you’re sick, otherwise you lose the money. ⁃ NOS ALIVE, PORTUGAL: they haven’t decided anything yet. ⁃ BST HYDE PARK, UK: fans can get a refund.
As you can see we don’t have much hope of either seeing you in 2021 or getting our money back. We want to write you this letter in the hope you’ll be able to read it and change things. We European fans, just like American and Brazilian fans, want to be included in this narrative and want to be equally considered. You are a global artist and the whole world loves you. You have so many international fans and you get more and more of them every year. We deserve more. We deserve a pop-up shop when you release a new album. We deserve more than one secret session, because we are so many. We deserve events and opportunities to meet you like the Chicago event because it’s your dream to meet us. But above all, we deserve to be part of Lover Fest because it’s our dream. Please, if you read this letter, do something, give us hope.
We love you and we hope you’re staying safe and healthy!

As always you can listen to the prompted songs for the works we post on two playlists:
Click here for Spotify (many thanks to @evaeleanor for helping us out there) ❤️ And here for the YouTube playlist.
Please enjoy this week’s entries below the cut:
🎶 H/D Wireless Art 🎶
📻 Not Your Property [G, Digital Art]
🎵 Song Prompt: ‘Rich Friends’ by Portugal The Man 🎵 Summary: Harry rubs elbows with rich Slytherins and finds himself falling for one Draco Malfoy
🎶 H/D Wireless Fic and Art 🎶
📻 I only want the ones I envy (I envy) [E, 13,333, digital art]
🎵 Song Prompt: 'MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)' by 'Lil Nas X' 🎵Summary: “Surely there’s someone in our circle who’s not a Saviour-Chaser. Someone single, clever, talented, sexy, and extremely, unapologetically gay.” Harry knows what’s about to happen before Ron’s even done speaking. And he wants to laugh at the absurdity of it all. But he can’t, not without outing himself, and in more ways than one. So tomorrow, he’ll do what he always does when he needs a distraction: he’ll corner Draco Malfoy at work, where Malfoy will suck his cock until Harry screams his name.
Despite this arrangement he has with Draco, conducted entirely in the privacy of a dusty stationery cabinet, Harry is definitely not gay. But to appease his friends, he agrees to go on one (1) date with a man. Just to be sure.
🎶 H/D Wireless Fic 🎶
📻 Shut Up, This Is Love [M, 33,230]
🎵 Song Prompt: The Chain by Fleetwood Mac 🎵 Summary: A soulmark is never wrong, Draco tells him — as if Harry cares what this damn chain on his arm says. But Harry is nothing if not stubborn, and he’d rather die than let a stupid mark determine whom he can and cannot have.
📻 About This Place [E, 10,317]
🎵 Song Prompt: You and I by Lady Gaga 🎵 Summary: Harry left everything, including Draco. Harry’s returned to everything, including Draco. Things are never quite so simple, though perhaps they could be.
📻 Mirrors inside me [E, 6,423]
🎵 Song Prompt: "Love Language" by SZA 🎵 Summary: Draco’s been in love with Potter forever. And just because they work together, and they fuck, and they text and break up and get back together regularly doesn’t mean Potter needs to know. In fact, it’s a pretty good reason why he shouldn’t.
📻 A Little Bit of You [E, 2,781]
🎵 Song Prompt: Mambo No 5 by Lou Bega 🎵 Summary: When Harry's constant flirting lands him frequent front page slots in the Daily Prophet, Draco resigns himself to never being loved like that by the man he is head over heels with. Turns out, he was right. But that's not necessarily a bad thing.
📻 All the Colors in the World [M, 11,143]
🎵 Song Prompt: Cinnamon Girl by Lana Del Rey 🎵 Summary: Five years into their relationship, Draco is beginning to wonder if his motivations and methods to save Harry are as pure as he’d thought. Everything seems to be going well for them on the surface, with the mostly Muggle life they’ve built together, but beneath roils a sea of half-formed dreams and secrets that threaten to engulf them both. Until, one day in summertime, Harry surprises him.
📻  if i could never give you peace [E, 17,496]
🎵 Song Prompt: peace by Taylor Swift 🎵 Summary: Eleven years after the Battle of Hogwarts, Aurors Harry and Draco are forcibly brought together by a new case that's bound to reopen old wounds. Enter a Firewhisky problem, prejudices that never really go away, and an obsession as old as time.
🎶 H/D Wireless Podfic 🎶
📻 [Podfic] I dream of you, to wake by harryromper [T, 01:26:02]
🖋️ Original author: harryromper 🎵 Song Prompt: 'Once Upon A Dream - Maleficent' by Lana Del Rey 🎵 Summary: “Typically coma patients are made comfortable and left to regain consciousness in their own time," Draco points out carefully. “Typically, yes. But when has anything about Harry been typical.” Hermione sighs, rubbing at her eye with the heel of her hand. “The Healer-in-Charge has consulted with experts at all the major wizarding hospitals. They all agree. Whatever’s happening inside of Harry’s head right now is killing him.” Draco Malfoy is a world-renowned dream-walker, and he may be Harry Potter’s only hope.

In the light of the racial Injustice we have seen in America, where a Black man named George Floyd was murdered at the hands of the US police, and where Breonna Taylor, a Black EMT, was murdered while sleeping in her home by police without uniform, and many other brutalities take place every day in America unto black people that goes unheard, it lifts my spirits to see people all around the world in support of the Black lives matter movement for racial justice.
I am heartbroken to watch their governments show little to no support for their people protesting against racism, when they have plenty to talk about from their unsettled past actions during the colonial era, as well as institutionalised racism which breathes today in their countries.
In the years of 1884 - 1914, the Berlin conference saw many of the major nations of europe partake in the colonisation of African countries known as the Scramble for Africa, which set a low bar for the history of mankind. You can and should read all about the atrocities onto African people, such as the Human Zoos, or the genocides which took place under the foot of colonial powers
I ask you to remember the starving to death of 65,000 Herero people, 80% of their number. And the 10,000 Nama people, 50% of their number in German concentration camps like Shark Island. They were the first genocides of the 20th century, we are only in the beginning of the 21st. The effects are still suffered today.
I ask you to remember the Belgium Rubber mines which saw the people of Congo enslaved and tortured. Even today countries like France interfere with African politics, and are forcing 14 african ex-colonies to pay colonial tax since their independence. 85% of these countries’ national reserve is controlled by France. The effects are still suffered today.
The colonial powers did not care to make amends with the ex-colony states after the end of colonialism, which saw many african nations and cultures in total ruin. They carved up borders that were not there, grouping and racially categorising indigenous people, which saw tribes amongst the desolation of a sacked continent at war with each other, and lead to incidents such as those seen in Rwanda.
Now today you hear white supremacist leaders that accomplish nothing for their citizens, calling African nations “shithole countries”. The painting of the african continent is that they cannot develop their cultural identity like Europe can because they are inferior, and not because while they were subjugated, their culture was abolished for being unlike theirs, and surely therefore barbaric. Or they cannot create strong economies like Europe can because they are inferior, while the wealth of those european countries is built on the spoils of a war against Africans, those same Africans did not choose to be engaged in.
And in america, white supremacy will convince you today that black people are lazy, after fighting a civil war to keep them enslaved, to do the hard labour for them because black people were just so good at building roads and the White house.
It is not okay to be silent about racism. It is equally dangerous to humanity to leave mankind’s sins unhealed and conveniently forgotten, because the pain is felt every day by black people and african nations by racism which lives today just as fresh as then in the beginning of Colonialism. The effects of racism don’t go away because a government stops carving up your homeland, or enslaving your people, the problem gets passed down on both sides of the conflict and becomes a generational issue like we are seeing in Britain, Africa, America, and other parts of the world.
I live in the United Kingdom, so I call for the government to come forward and address properly the injustice done to ethnic minorities today in britain, as well as in the past. I call for other European countries to address racism in a similar manner officially, if you are a European citizen, you should call upon your government too. Italy, Spain, Portugal, France,Belgium, Britain are failing to engage the public in conversation about racism.
European Governments are failing the people taking a stand against racism and protesting. Because they are hiding in shame like the biblical adam  who knew he had sinned. If only they put the same level of energy and enthusiasm in healing the wounds of centuries of racism as they did sowing its seeds.
To start, I call for the Statue of British colonialist Cecil Rhodes, proudly displayed at Oriel College, Oxford University, to be taken down and put in a museum. In 2016, a petition to remove the statue which represents British white supremacy, was refused because “the statue was a reminder of the complexity of history and of the legacies of colonialism”. There is nothing complex at all about colonialism, that is only delusional exceptionalism born from white supremacy. It is animalistic barbarism, and failure of compassion that forever left a stain upon humanity, which at least we can learn from - in a museum. If it is indeed history it should be put in a museum.
Sign the petition to remove the Cecil Rhodes statue.
Please, share this, and do all that you can to support the movement for racial justice. Do what you can in your country.

Shawn Mendes: ‘I’m 20. I want to have fun’
by Michael Cragg
Tumblr media
Shawn Mendes is the red-hot poster boy of pop. His videos have been viewed 6bn times and he has more than 42m followers on Instagram. But don’t worry if you haven’t heard of him… just ask a teenager
Shawn Mendes is standing in his underpants in a suite on the fifth floor of a London hotel as a 200-strong crowd of screaming teenage girls gathers outside. “Everyone who doesn’t need to be in the room, leave the room,” he says politely but firmly, in a soft Canadian drawl. Pop’s current poster boy should be used to causing a stir. His #MyCalvins campaign (following in the footsteps of Justin Bieber in 2016) broke the internet earlier this year, inching the 20-year-old teen phenomenon – three US chart-topping albums, 30m monthly listeners on Spotify, more than 6bn video views – closer to tabloid supremacy and global domination.
At the Brit Awards that night, Mendes will cringe as presenter Jack Whitehall ribs him about “suspicious packages”, so it’s curious to hear him describe the Calvin Klein opportunity – and the subsequent results pored over by his 42m Instagram followers – as “a goal of mine at the top of 2018. As much as it’s a stepping stone for me to play a stadium, it’s a huge moment for me to step in front of a camera and take my shirt off. I don’t see one being less meaningful than the other.”
The air is thick with earnestness as we sit down for lunch in the hotel restaurant. I blurt out a question about whether he had to wear extra padding. “No,” he says, eyebrow raised. “They’re really good underwear.” Did they send you some free ones? “Yeah, I have boxes of them at home.” He lifts up the bottom edge of his T-shirt and pulls at the waistband of his underwear before quickly pulling his shirt back down. You’re not wearing them today are you? “Not right now,” he says sheepishly. “I should be.”
Tumblr media
Mendes’s boy-next-door appeal and laser-guided ambition feels rather wholesome, with his sensitive, heart-on-sleeve pop-rock bops such as 2015’s UK chart-topper Stitches, positioning him as perfect boyfriend material in pop’s all important fantasy world. If Bieber is the unknowable loose cannon, then Mendes is pop’s picture-perfect head boy. But it’s clear that exposing himself so literally has its downside. “The last 48 hours have been so consuming, just reading what people are saying about me [on social media],” he sighs. Do you have to read it? “No, but there’s something about being human that makes you. I’m scared of social media and how much it affects me,” he continues. “It’s literally become infused with who I am.”
Last October he apologised to his 21m Twitter followers, claiming he was worried that what he was posting wasn’t meaningful enough. “For the first time I realised how many people are listening,” he says. He now monitors how often he goes online and tries to take regular breaks, using meditation to relax. “I don’t think of myself as conceited, but I definitely spend a lot of time reading about myself,” he says.
Mendes famously has three daily rules – going to the gym, two vocal lessons and never saying no to a selfie with a fan. He’s managed the first two so far and “took about 200 selfies yesterday”. Despite this, his rise has chimed with a shift in the upper echelons of pop – its recent exponents being anti-pop stars Adele, Ed Sheeran and (with her goofy dancing style and eternal quest for relatability) Taylor Swift, who’s now a friend. Even One Direction – whose blend of teen-orientated, guitar-led pop paved the way for Mendes – always felt like they were trying to play down the pop star element.
“The more open the world is getting, the more people are craving real,” he says. “I don’t think people want to see a made-up person. [In the past] there’s been a lot of dressing up, and I still think that stuff is amazing – like I’ll wear a sleeveless top – but at the end of it, when it comes down to you, I think it’s about being authentic.” For all this talk of authenticity and being like everyone else, I tell him, you’re also a pop star begging people to look at you. Do you have to believe your own hype? “Of course,” he says, his eyes darting over my shoulder to the mirrored wall behind. “You have to. If you wake up every day and say, ‘I’m OK,’ you’re going to just be that. If you wake up everyday and look at yourself in the mirror and say, ‘I’m great, let’s go sell out that stadium,’ then you will.”
Tumblr media
You could say he’s been in motivational training for a while now, having started out as a 14-year-old YouTube star, uploading acoustic covers of songs (Bieber, among others), before switching to the now defunct social media platform Vine. He taught himself to play the guitar via YouTube tutorials at home in the small town of Pickering, Ontario, while one of his first public performances was in a plaza in Portugal where his family – mum Karen, a British estate agent, dad Manny, a Portuguese businessman, and younger sister Aaliyah – were holidaying. While his parents were shopping, Mendes hopped up next to a statue and belted out a Bruno Mars song. “I was sweating and I thought, ‘Dude, if you want to be a singer, you’ve got to at least be able to stand on this statue and sing,’” he says of that moment.
Where was that pressure coming from? “It was from myself, which is pretty much a big statement on my personality at 14 years old.”
While he says he loved school, his early fame – after signing to Island Records his debut single, Life of the Party, was released when he was just 15 – meant he was bullied. “People were cruel at first,” he says, clearing his throat and fiddling with the rim of a cup of green tea. “They just thought it was so stupid.” He’d skip school every Friday to attend influencer events in which social media stars met fans who already assumed they were friends. “I was taking 1,500 selfies a night,” he laughs. “You quickly learn that what you love to do is a job, but I don’t resent what I do. I don’t hate taking selfies.”
Tumblr media
Success was rapid, with his third single Stitches breaking the US top five and peaking at number one in the UK. That same year he supported Swift on her 1989 stadium tour. How did he cope? “This life is more real to me than anything,” he says. “If I were to walk down the street and no one recognised me, I’d feel something was wrong. When I was really young [fame] morphed who I was. If it was to become normal, it would feel un-normal to me.”
From the outside, I say, the other recent pop artists who can relate to that are Britney Spears or Bieber, people who have had issues with growing up in the spotlight. “A couple of times I’ve worried about that, too, but outside of all this I live a really normal life,” he says slowly. “You have to make an effort to carry your own bags, drive your own car and not be afraid of the public. I don’t blame people at all who stay inside. I understand how it could be terrifying to go to a restaurant and eat because you’re scared someone’s going to take a photo of you.”
Tumblr media
Is that more intrusive than a selfie? “I’ve been so lucky that fans have been taking photos of me eating since I was 15, so I’m a little bit numb to it,” he says, his tone rarely deviating from preternaturally calm. There’s probably an Instagram account called Shawn Mendes Eating, I joke (I check later and while there’s no account, there is a hashtag to follow). Can it feel as if he’s being watched? “I’m inherently [aware of] that all the time.” If it ever gets too much, he leaves rather than making a scene. Are you a people-pleaser, I ask? “Yeah, is that bad?” he smiles. “It can lead to failure, but if I fail trying to please everyone, then that’s OK.”
Mendes spends a lot of time contemplating people’s perceptions of him. Last year he publicly criticised a Rolling Stone cover story, expressing his regret that “the positive side of a story doesn’t always get fully told”. I assume it’s because the piece mentioned his penchant for smoking weed, a detail that had upset some fans. “That didn’t bother me,” he smiles. “Actually, I was happy about that because maybe it’s OK for them to understand that weed’s not a big deal.” He says he hasn’t smoked in three months.
Another part of the story focused on rumours about his sexuality. “For me it’s hurtful,” he says. “I get mad when people assume things about me because I imagine the people who don’t have the support system I have and how that must affect them.” (In late 2017 he posted an emotional Snapchat story: “First of all, I’m not gay. Second of all, it shouldn’t make a difference if I was or wasn’t.”) He sighs and says: “That was why I was so angry, and you can see I still get riled up, because I don’t think people understand that when you come at me about something that’s stupid you hurt so many other people. They might not be speaking, but they’re listening.”
Tumblr media
He says the reason he criticised the article was over a small detail in which he mentioned Dua Lipa and her boyfriend, and how amazing it looked to be in love. “It made me seem so creepy,” he says. “If anything, the article made me realise your career isn’t over if people think you’re not perfect.” You could see how the creepy singleton tag might irk him, and also why it might stick – a lot of Mendes’s biggest singles play on the idea of him as the emotionally needy bloke who gets messed around and comes back for more.
Are you bored of being The Nice Guy? He splutters, clears his throat and sits bolt upright. “Yeah, I am! It sounds so stupid – to be a nice person is the best thing in the world – but, yeah, I’m 20 and I just want to have fun. What I don’t want to do is live the rest of my life thinking, ‘I wouldn’t do that because I’m known as Prince Charming.’ The second that someone corners you into a personality, you don’t want to be that person any more.”
Two weeks later, Mendes is onstage in Amsterdam. In keeping with the floral artwork for his recent self-titled album, a 50ft rose snakes up to the ceiling from the so-called B-stage where he’ll later serenade the throngs of teenage fans and nodding dads with a handful of ballads. Replica light-up roses (€20 a pop at the merch stand) bob about in the dark as Mendes runs through a hugely entertaining, PG-13 simulacrum of a rock show to ear-bleeding screams (“God I’m so old,” a woman sitting behind me yells as she surveys the crowd).
Tumblr media
Keen to further align himself with the pantheon of rock’s smiliest exponents, tonight Mendes segues from a cover of Coldplay’s big-hearted anthem Fix You into his own, the Kings of Leon-esque In My Blood, a song that surprised fans by touching on depression. Tonight it’s transformed – with the help of a ticker tape explosion – into something close to catharsis.
“There’s nothing like being on stage – you feel like Superman!” he’d said earlier, claiming it to be better than sex or any high. “My goal now is to enjoy what I do more and more because otherwise it doesn’t fucking matter. I used to think it was all about the crowd, but I have to be happy within myself.” As he takes his millionth selfie, his face radiating pure elation, you believe he might be.
