my brain is so fried from trying to research for my thesis and i ended up in greek/roman mythology (not my field in any way) and idk if i'm stupid but i can't find an easy answer so i thought maybe (pretty please) you could tell me just a quick answer if u know - is talemon (son of aecus/father of greek hero ajax?) also represented in roman mythology?

if you don't want to answer this or don't know, feel free to ignore this

i'm assuming you mean telamon? i don't think he shows up in any significant aspect, but roman mythology isn't my area of expertise

i'd look at least a little bit into the history of the town of talamone to see if anyone other than diodorus siculus connected its etymology to telamon, but i don't have any other leads than that

- What if something had happen to him? He could have been sick! Or there could have been a fire! He could have died! Isn’t it enough that his brother was taken from us!!

- Noor don’t exaggerate, Telamon sighed. Look, he is very much alive, otherwise he wouldn’t cry like this.

- You are missing the point! You promised you would look after him, and you didn’t! Like always, you only think about yourself and your wine buddies.

- Oh shut up will you! You are are constantly nagging, can’t you let a man get some peace in his own house! I’m going out!!

- Why is my life always so difficult, Noor wept silently. Am I not allowed to be happy ever?

- Come my little hero. Don’t worry. Mommy will protect you, I promise you. Now, let’s get you cleaned up and ready for bed.

- For our health, father! Cheers! Cheers to all women and marital bliss!

Talemon’s father didn’t answer at first.

- Son, she is not a bad woman. She is grieving and she is scared. It’s normal. It’s not that many months since she gave birth to the twins, and loosing Pamesijos brother makes her a little jumpy. Be patient.

- But she is always fussing, father! Never pleased with anything I do!

- Then work harder! Be a man and find out what makes her safe and confident. Because I promise you, when she is happy, so will you be.

“The Man who Can’t Forget”

Thom’s introduction to the show, and our introduction to gleemen.

I have many thoughts and feelings about this. Firstly, I’d like to petition that the name be changed to “The Colors of His Morning.” Mostly because it fits very well with the naming conventions of existing Wheel of Time songs. That being said, the song starts us off with a clear association to Lews Therin, Kinslayer. Lews Therin Talemon, as fans of the book may recall, was known by many titles, and among them was Lord of The Morning.

I don’t know about you, but I immediately made the association to Kinslayer, but what really piqued my interest was the sympathetic tone the song took towards him. Lews Therin in th r song is framed less as the monster who broke the world (and Him they named Dragon), and more as a victim of a great tragedy.

Now, knowing Thom’s character (from the books at least) one would assume that he KNOWS what and who he is singing about, at least as much as can be known from the Age of Legends. I believe this is some stealthy character building. Empathy for male channelers, doomed to madness perhaps?

That being said, the song itself is beautiful. Our second example of diegetic music, and in both cases there are influences of modern music. Thom, with his bluesy gravel, created a blend of standard fantasy fair mixed with folks blues, which created a new music fitting a world that doesn’t quite fit the mold of medieval fantasy. I’m looking forward to more music in this world.

Maybe I just like Thom singing.

But what are your thoughts on The Man Who Can’t Forget? Did you like it, or do you wish they’d gone with a song from the books? If so, which one?
